Doing the “Caught Red-Handed By The Police:” Turkish Shop Owner Insists He Was Not Beating Wife But Dancing

Allaetin Can, a kebab shop owner in Turkey, was arrested after witnesses said he was outside their shop hitting, kicking, and strangling his wife. The defense? They were dancing in joy after having a good day at the business. It does not help that the alleged local dance is called Kolbasti which means “caught red-handed by the police”.

The defense has introduced videos of people doing the Kolbasti to show that it is a violent dance step. Well, you stepped repeated over your partner.
Can said that his Kebab shop just had a great lunchtime business and he and his teenage sister decided to do the dance.

The dance was developed in the 1930s by by the city’s drunks who were regularly rounded up by police. Mr. Can insisted “I’m happy to dance with my wife and my family. What’s wrong with that?”
