Shockers: Child Advocate Arrested for Child Abuse; Motivational Speaker Arrested for Attempted Murder

Two bizarre stories are emerging out of Texas and Minnesota. In Austin, Billy Dan Carroll, 53, has been arrested of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl — despite his work as a child advocate against abuse. In Minneapolis, Russell Simon Jr, 45, is being held on attempted murder (using a statue of John Wayne) –despite his work as a popular motivational speaker on such things as anger management.

In Carroll’s case, he was a volunteer for the Court Appointed Special Advocacy group and is now suspected for being a serial rapist. Police say they found a video tape in Carroll’s bedroom showing him sexually assaulting six other children and two adults. Carroll (shown above) is being held on high bond.

Simon’s case is equally bizarre. He is charged with first-degree premeditated attempted murder, second-degree attempted murder, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, assault with a dangerous weapon, and violating the terms of his earlier prison release by using a firearm. He could be facing 30 years in prison. Simon, an ex-con, has spoken to over 250,000 kids in his signature “10 Seconds Can Change Your Life Forever.” For his website, click here.

The ten seconds that got Simon in trouble this time involved drinking with an old prison buddy, taking meth, stripping off his clothes, and then fighting with the buddy. At one point, he allegedly hit his pal in the face with a statue of John Wayne. It is not clear whether the statue depicts a scene from “The Quiet Man” (a misdemeanor) for “The Green Berets” (a felony).

Notably, he is not the only motivational speaker speaker arrested recently, click here.
Bijan Anjomi, 64, motivates people on “effortless prosperity until of course his arrest on three counts of sexual assault.
