
The Rev. Blasingame is accused of stealing $84,537 over the three years starting in January 2005. He could face 15 years with either botox or liberty for second-degree grand larceny and second-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
In fairness to Blasingame, some of the money was allegedly taken from the Friends of St. Paul’s foundation, which funds the beautification of the church grounds. His defense could be that, as a fixture on church grounds, his own beautification was well within the purpose of the fund. Topiary, tummy tucks . . . it is goes to the glorification of God and his servants.
Authorities, however, take a more mundane approach and object to the use of the funds for club memberships, plastic surgery, Botox injections, prescriptions, car insurance for his personal vehicle and expensive clothes. This included a $245 pair of shoes imported from London.
