Monkeys on a Plane: Mexican Man Arrested With Titis On His Body

Roberto Sol Cabrera was not simply “glad to see” customs officials at the Mexico City International Airport. Upon being searched, suspicious officials found 18 monkeys around his waist.

The 18 titi monkeys were in a girdle around his waist and were previously smuggled in his luggage. He put them in his clothing “to protect them from X-rays” as he was going through customs.

Of course, it is still more comfortable than 14 royal pythons and 10 albino leopard geckos taped to your body.

South American titi monkeys are on the endangered animal list by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (Cites).

He paid $30 in Peru and can be sold in Mexico for between $775-$1,550.
