The unnamed 59-year-old man did not declare such such items in arriving at Washington Dulles International Airport on Dec. 3 on his way to Maryland.
His suitcase contained two elephant tails, bloody sheets, five chicken feathers, chicken blood, a dried hedgehog, two dried chameleons, grass, seed pods, tree bark chips and a jug filled with soil, herbs and blood.
Notably, the man was not charged with any crime. However, the contents were destroyed as a threat to U.S. agriculture. The elephant tails were seized as violations of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species.
