He had 40 snakes on him and then they opened his luggage. Ranger Daniel Chersich, warden of Santa Fe province, simply observed that police “were terrified of opening the bags.” They found “444 boas, vipers and other snakes; 186 endangered tortoises; 40 lizards, and an armadillo.”
The smuggler had spent three months trapping the creatures. Given the cruel way that he was transporting them, one can only imagine how they are kept during the whole ordeal.
