
City council member Ritu Tawde came up with the idea because she viewed the mannequins as degrading women and inciting men:
“Such people get provoked by mannequins. After all, a mannequin is a replica of a woman’s body. That’s why I oppose it, because mannequins do not suit Indian culture,.” I am afraid that I am unconvinced that the mannequin menace is the cause of problem.
This suggestion comes after police recommended women simply do not go out and carry chili powder in India.
In the meantime, an American woman was added to the tally of rape victims this week. The 30-year-old American woman was gang-raped in the northern Indian resort town of Manali after she was hitchhiking back to her guest house.
