Neighbors have stated that the priest convinced them that the girl’s problems were spiritual not medical.
The priest, Ewart Cummings led a five hour prayer vigil that involved pressing her stomach and head while making her drink an anointing oil. Cummings insisted “I did nothing wrong. I just responded as pastor of the church. … Ungodly people would not understand certain things like driving out spirits.”
