Bad Habit: Woman Arrested After Wearing Nun’s Outfit To Rob Bank

Melisa Aquino Arias, 23, opted for a novel signature disguise as a bank robber.  Arias pleaded guilty to wearing a nun’s habit to rob a bank in Passaic, New Jersey with another woman, Swahilys Pedraza-Rodriquez, 19.

Arias also wore the outfit to rob an ATM machine and now faces up to 41 years.

Arias wore an orange hijab and Pedraza-Rodriguez a black head cover for some crimes.  However, the bank’s manager reportedly recognized them and called police.

  1. When you are are a nun you’re a nun…
You’re a nun all the way.
From your first taste of wine to your last roll in the hay!

  2. There aren’t many nuns around anymore, and many don’t wear a habit anymore.

  3. “Arias pleaded guilty to wearing a nun’s habit to rob a bank in Passaic, N.J….” So, was wearing the nun’s habit an element of the charge? I realize that wearing a military uniform, a police officer’s uniform, and even a postal worker’s uniform without legal authorization are all crimes, but I would be surprised about the nun’s uniform. Or maybe I’m reading this too literally. 😉
