Shawn Marshall Myers, 41, has been arrested for violating the order of Gov. Larry Hogan in hosting roughly 60 people at a bonfire last Friday night. Myers defied the order to keep any gathering to 10 people or less.
While Meyers might not have coronavirus, he might not be on the top of the list of most people as someone to party with at any time. He is a registered sex offender.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office disclosed the arrest in a news release and said that, when informed of the order, he agreed to break up the crowd. However, he was still charged with violating the governor’s COVID-19 emergency order. The penalties for breaking the order can result in up to a year in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Myers was previously convicted for carnal knowledge/indecent liberties in Virginia in 2001, according to Maryland’s sex offender registry. In 2011, he was indicted on a first-degree murder charge for the 2004 Thanksgiving shooting of a 23-year-old man. He ended up pleading guilty in a plea deal and received a 15-year suspended sentence for conspiracy to commit robbery.
The government needs the COVID-19 test.
Government must have “probable cause.”
If it can prove an impending threat to persons, it has a case for legislating and enforcing legislation to preclude bodily injury and death.
If the suspect is not infected, passes a test and no threat exists, the government is denying his constitutional rights, which it cannot.
Plain and simple.
Freedom of Assembly is the absolute right and freedom of the individual citizen.
Denying the citizen that right, in the absence of a real or credible threat, is not a right of government.
The People are the Sovereign – Government is the Subject of the Sovereign.
