“Guillotine! Guillotine! Guillotine!”: GW Protesters Call for the Heads of President and Others to be Cut Off

For years, I have written about the analogy of what is happening on our campuses to the French Revolution, including faculty enablers becoming the targets of radical groups. Many faculty were silent as conservatives and libertarians were purged from faculties. Some even supported cancel campaigns against professors and speakers with opposing views. Now the analogy has become even more poignant on my campus of George Washington University after protesters held mock tribunals and called for the heads of the President, Provost, and Board of Trustees to be cut off by guillotine.

A video has emerged over the weekend from the enactment outside of my office with students gleefully cheering for the beheading of faculty, administrators, and board members. They specifically “convicted” President Ellen Granberg, Provost Christopher Bracey, the Board of Trustees, @GWPolice, and others according to the poster of the video.

I discussed earlier how the D.C. police refused to clear the street outside of the law school and next to the quad. In D.C., it often matters what you are protesting in determining whether action will be taken.

As for the guillotine video, the Post Millennial reported on the scene:

In the mock tribunal, the woman asks “How do the people find you?”

The crowd shouts, “Guilty!” then “Guillotine! Guillotine! Guillotine!”

“Bracey, Bracey, we see you! You assault students too. Off to the motherf*cking gallows with you,” the woman chants, along with the gleeful activists.

Moving on to the Board of Trustees, she states “On the charges of having a vested interest in the genocide of Palestinian people as they profit off Zionist weapons and purchases that you refuse to divest the apartheid as they line their pockets. The people find you.”

“Guilty!” The crowd screams with a mix of mob rage and joy.

“To the Guillotine!” the girl yells. “Board of Trustees, we charge you with genocide. I hope all that money is gonna save you when you’re rotting in jail.”

The crowd calls out President Grandberg, as well. “On the charges of using our tuition dollars to fund genocide, and selling out students to Zionist interest, the people find you?”

“Guilty!” The crowd yells.

“As you already know where I am sending her,” she adds, referring to the guillotine. “Her and her f*ck *ss bob.”

Fortunately, we got rid of shop in many schools years ago so the actual construction of a gallows may prove challenging. Amazon can deliver a guillotine but it is only five inches tall so it might be a bit of a Spinal Tap moment for the new Jacobins.

Few of us expect tumbrils to roll in Foggy Bottom. These students clearly thought that this was funny and no one believes that they are turning into little Robespierres. However, the rhetoric of these protests have displayed violent and unhinged elements – fueled by radical activists from Antifa and other organizations.

The protesters have already succeeded in forcing concessions from universities like Brown, Northwestern, and Rutgers. The growing protests have also clearly spooked the White House, particularly with the chant “Genocide Joe” catching on across the country. At GW, that image was projected over the large flag hung by the school.

The protesters are likely to take solace in the fact that the Biden Administration just reportedly put a hold on an ammunition transfer to Israel. It is not clear if this will be a mere symbolic hold that will be lifted or something more significant. Israel is preparing the long-announced offensive in Rafah in southern Gaza where the remaining Hamas fighters are located.

  1. GET OUR TROOPS OUT OF NIGERIA!!!
They have been abandoned. We are looking at Afghanistan on steroids. In my opinion a deliberate act by the “Biden” administration for whatever nefarious purposes.
Either way, surely we can all agree that we don’t want to see our troops butchered. Please call your congressman, write to your local newspaper, do something!!

  2. Many years ago on the Res Ipsa Loquitur Blog, I said that colleges and universities for the most part no longer existed and that they were replaced by Leftist Indoctrination Entities, aka by the acronym “LIEs.” The Leftists here tried to prove me wrong and utterly failed. I pointed out that Harvard, which once regularly produced Nobel Prize winners in the areas of genuine merit, such as medicine, physics, chemistry, etc., now produced absolutely nothing of value, let alone Nobel Prize winners. One Leftist feebly pointed that Harvard did win a Prize in medicine but it was 20 years ago. And I said, “exactly, that’s my point.”

Now, there’s no longer any question that the LIEs have replaced the real college and universities. The damage is done. The faculties are total Leftist rubbish. The administrations are total rubbish. The real question is what to do about the situation for those reamining among us who care about the fate of Civilization, which is gradually being destroyed before our eyes.

The following are the required first steps. One, all federal funds of the LIEs must be permanently cut off. Billions and billions of federal funds hav been wasted on the LIEs. That must stop once and for all. Two, the tax-exempt status of the LIEs must be revoked. LIEs aren’t educational institutions. They don’t teach anything of value. They are just Leftist indoctrination production lines, dedicated to producing more degenerate, depraved, useful idiots for the Left. Let them be taxed like businesses and pay their fair share. And if that means they start depleting their endowments, that’s the way it should be. Let their endowments be transfered to the U.S. Treasury. These two things alone will have a dramatic effect on the LIEs. They will have to change for the better or they will disappear, which is as it should be. And new, real educational institutions will be rewarded and replace the LIEs.

The fate of Civilization depends on these vital changes ASAP. These should be a priority when President Trump returns to the White House and the Biden disaster is put behind us.

    1. “THEY CONSIDER…THAT IT FELL…TO ABRAHAM LINCOLN…TO LEAD HIS COUNTRY THROUGH…THE RECONSTRUCTION OF A SOCIAL WORLD.”

      – KARL MARX
      ________________

Many years ago, I revealed that “Crazy Abe” Lincoln threw the baby out with the bathwater – the Constitution out with reprehensible slavery. Unfortunately, he failed to obey immigration law a compassionately repatriate the freed slaves to Liberia, Monrovia (funded by and named after President Monroe), terminating, with extreme prejudice, America’s singular and sole overriding problem. For reasons know only to him, “Crazy Abe” caved to Karl Marx and communism came pouring in. America was lost and gone forever on March 4, 1861.

Letter of Congratulation and Commendation from Karl Marx to Abraham Lincoln, 1865

“The workingmen of Europe feel sure that, as the American War of Independence initiated a new era of ascendancy for the middle class, so the American Antislavery War will do for the working classes. They consider it an earnest of the epoch to come that it fell to the lot of Abraham Lincoln, the single-minded son of the working class, to lead his country through the matchless struggle for the rescue of an enchained race and the reconstruction of a social world. [B]”

      – Karl Marx and the Communist Party

      1. Marx was right about that and many other things too. Slavery was bad and unfair- for free working people.

It’s unfortunate however that it took a war. If Abe Lincoln and his Yankee backers were not so greedy, they could have passed an national manumission law like Brazil did.

And, its true, Abe campaigned on promises of repatriation, that were never kept. It’s true that is our misfortune, to this day. Obviously so

  3. Seems most revolutions begin with students. French, Russian, Iranian.

  4. Seriously, non-troll anonymous posters: make a fake name. Use a vpn and a temporary email address. Stop posting anonymously. It is impossible to parse all of the anonymous cowards at this point, and there are myriad ways one can post with a name and still be unidentified. This is one of the most lenient blogs on the web in that regard. Signing off at the end of your post matters little if it’s skipped altogether due to the ‘Anonymous’ (and they are). It’s maddening.

    1. Can I do this without having a WordPress account? I completely understand your point of view on this subject, but I’m a bit reticent about creating a new WordPress account.

  5. This is on the books. (The Second Enforcement Act, 1871). Prosecute accordingly:

“That if two or more persons within any State or Territory of the United States shall conspire together to overthrow,…. or to put down or go in disguise upon the public highway or upon the premises of another for the purpose, either directly or indirectly, of depriving any person or any class of persons of the equal protection of the laws, …..shall be punished by a fine not less than five hundred nor more than five thousand dollars, or by imprisonment, with or without hard labor, as the court may determine, for a period of not less than six months nor more than six years, as the court may determine, or by both such fine and imprisonment as the court shall determine. . . .

Time to learn the real consequences of wearing a mask and intimidating others, eh kiddies?

    1. I been wondering why this wasnt dusted off for BLM . Never got an explanation from anybody. Maybe Prof Turley can say

      Sal Sar

  6. Turley scoffingly dismisses the possibility of leftist violence due to poor construction skills but forgets that leftist terror groups are extremely well funded and armed by criminals like Soros.

Violence is guaranteed this summer and it remains to be seen how bad it will get, but we can be sure that Turley will be shocked – Shocked! I tell you – that it has occurred.

  7. Professor Turley Writes:

“Israel is preparing the long-announced offensive in Rafah in southern Gaza where the remaining Hamas fighters are located”.
    ……………………………….

This is the last paragraph of Turley’s column; a footnote of sorts. Like, “Oh yeah, Israel is preparing to invade the last refuge in Gaza where 1.4 million people are sheltering with their backs to the Egyptian border.”

Turley throws this in like it’s just some extra bit of information adding context to the big drama at GW.

    1. No, Prof. Turley is providing commentary on what is happening on his campus. He has no obligation to reiterate the entire history of Hamas’ violence toward Israel and indifference toward Gazans’ welfare. Not every commentary must restate all of this. There’s literally no end to what information you, me and everyone else believes must be repeated for “context.”

  8. Jonathan: I generally don’t like polls that ask “generic” respondents who they like. And polls are only a snapshot in time. In a presidential election one would like to look at polls in October to see where actual voters stand. But there are two polls this week that should be worrisome for DJT. In two polls this week by “likely voters” ABC and NPR/Marist show Biden with a lead:

    –ABC–49% to 45% (+4)
    –NPR/ Marist–52% to 47% (+5)

Note: These polls are of “likely voters”–voters who actually go out and vote. No wonder you want to defund NPR. It’s a poll you probably won’t like!

    1. No Idea about your specific polls and you are not a trustworthy reporter.
I know that the RCP poll of polls has Trump back at a 2.9% lead over Biden.
And all swing states go to Trump. That even if the margin of error goes Bidens way in ALL states – Trump still wins the electoral college.

There is a poll somewhere that says Trump support would drop 4pts if he is convicted of a fellony – he would STILL win the election but just barely not the popular vote.

Regardless, it is not about Defunding NPR – the federal govenrment should not be subsidizing the media – not ANY media.
They also should not be subidizing the arts and humanities.

Really they should not be subsidizing anything.

Leave people with their own money, they are perfectly capable of deciding how to spend it.

This is not about MPR – I do not want Fox to be government subsidized.

The Question is WHY do those like you feel Government should be subidizing NPR or the arts or the humanities or EV’s or pretty much anything ?

You are personally free to give your money to whatever you wish. Government should not be taking money from you to give to others

      1. John Say is a liberterian., Which means he prolly has a good heart and he believes in fairness etc. but is naive.

John, you either grow your power or you lose it. Liberterian ideology is a figment of postwar CIA sponsored eggheads who never had to run anything more than a book-selling operation.

If good patriotic decent normal Americans really understood the nature of politics, they would have never jumped on the Ayn Rand/ Friedman/ Rothbard/ Von Mises bandwagon at all. It was a serious strategic error. This has only served to leave us in weak position vis a vis the globalist billionaires who ruined our country’s industrial base by sending all overseas under free trade ideology which just leaves us weak today compared to China. And even Russia which apparently can outproduce all of NATO in stuff like artillery, 10-1. It’s been a disaster. Reagan was part of that deinudustrialization though it prolly started in earnest under Carter. Oh Clinton was too, the PRC loaded him up with bribes and his pals on Wall Street too.

There is nothing more important for future just government than education. That is the foundation of politics. All the liberterians need to go reread Plato’s Republic and apologize. I was a victim too, once, John.

        Sal Sar

        1. I read Plato’s Republic. It’s an appalling paean to governmental control of individuals’ lives – choosing their classes/professions, control over artistic presentations so there’s no “wrongthink” going on among the populace, lying to them “for society’s good.”

I have always (since childhood) been puzzled at the lauding of President Kennedy for saying, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.” even my father, a Democrat authoritarian to his marrow, had to acknowledge that government has no legitimacy if it does not improve the individual lives of its individual citizens. In other words, it has no legitimacy outside of what it can do for you.

    2. BTW it is likely an outlier but there is atleast one poll that found Trump leading Biden in Washington state.

It is highly unlikely that Trup will win NY. But it is not out of the realm of posibilities.

Biden is leading in VA – by only 1pt. If VA is in play – Biden is in deep schiff.

Lastly I do not “like or dislike” polls. They are all interesting for what they are worth. Most show some bias.
      More tilt left than right.

    3. Pretty sure Trump is not worrying.
Pretty sure Biden is angry and worried.
Aparently KJP’s neck is in the noose and Biden is blaming here for his problems.

She is an idiot, but Biden’s problems are his own failures – not KJP’s spin.

    1. How about the Klan Act? Seems popular in some circles these days.

  9. Jonathan: DJT’s rhetoric is becoming more erratic and unhinged. He held a fundraiser this past weekend at Mar-a-Lago to raise money from his wealthy donors? How did it go? If you believe DJT not so well. During a meandering 90″ speech DJT complained that donors weren’t giving him enough money. He said he was getting more money from wedding parties than his donors.

Does DJT have anything to actually complain about? Recently, DJT held a fundraiser and claims he raided $50 million. That’s a ton of money. Is DJT to believed? Like a lot of his boasting it turns out the truth lies somewhere else. The reporting is that DJT has yet to open a single field office for his campaign–not even in the key swing states. Which shows he is hard up for cash. In comparison, the Biden campaign has opened 500 field offices around the country. Another data point that indicates that just maybe DJT is having a hard raising money for his campaign. But he won’t admit that.

At the same Mar-a-Lago fundraiser DJT launched into another attack on Jack Smith–which is allowed under the gag order. DJT said about Smith: “He’s unattractive both inside and out. This is one unattractive dude”. DJT went on to call Smith a “f—–g a–hole”. Talk about running in the sewer! DJT is one “unattractive dude”!

    1. We already know Biden is outspending Trump 15:1 in swing states – and still losing ALL of them. Many by 5+ points – more than enough to lose the election.

As to the rest of your claims – if True – which I doubt as you are the source – WHO cares ?

The campaign is about winning 270+ Electoral college votes.
It is not about fund raising or field offices.

I have no idea whether you are corect in your claims.
It is not like you have a reputation for truthfulness.

What I do know is that if you are correct – and Trump is doing all these things wrong – he is leading by 2.9% nationwide, and even more in swing states.

      All while Trapped in Manhattan.

    2. “. . . meandering 90″ speech . . .”

Nice Freudian slip, referring instead to Biden.

” is the symbol for seconds.

  10. Again and again the paid Hamas supporters out numbered students and direct the disturbance to gain the focus of the media to distract from the fact that they are supporting a registered terrorists organizations agenda to distract from the attacks of October 7th. And the still missing hostages are still unaccounted for. Their goals the distraction from their heinous crimes and victims in Israel, to the streets of America!

  11. Biden gave Pelosi a medal for tearing up the speech and that’s pretty much all we need to know. If you think the democratic party is not worthy of the French Revolution treatment – you are very privileged indeed, as are they, to the skies. None of us have forgotten the events of the past eight years, and these people are plain and simple evil. There is no ‘Democratic Party’, just a regime. ‘Liberal’ is an anachronism. Wake up. By all means, bring back the guillotines.

  12. Turley– “These students clearly thought that this was funny and no one believes that they are turning into little Robespierres.”

    +++

Don’t be so sure. Did anyone sane think that it would get this far?

    1. Don’t forget: as a young lawyer Robespierre opposed the death penalty and would have fit in perfectly with the students of today.

  13. I’m shocked

Democrat Senator John Fetterman, aka Mr. Potato Head says Protester pup tents on college campuses don’t help. This will end when Hamas releases the hostages & surrenders to the IDF.

    1. Fetterman as been at odds with the official Democrat Narrative for more than 2 years. Don’t trust Dems, but I am forced to give credit where credit is due.

  14. These are indeed latter day Jacobins, with their genocidal antisemitic chants echoing their Islamist intersectional allies.
Currently Shurat Hadin is taking Students for Justice in Palestine to court over their illegal ties to the American Muslims for Palestine group and their funding of Hamas. With any luck, they’ll be sued out of existence. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

  15. These students clearly thought that this was funny and no one believes that they are turning into little Robespierres.

Well, that is until they do. And then once an incident happens, everyone says, I just didn’t believe they seriously meant it.

    1. Not turning into little Robespierres . . . is like saying the Nazis calling for the annihilation of the Jews are not really turning into little Nazis because at the current moment they lack concentration camps.

    2. “And then once an incident happens, everyone says, I just didn’t believe they seriously meant it.”

      Precisely!

Those willfully blind ones remind me of the parents whose teen commits murder, then wail: “But we had no idea.”

      Well, you should have.

  16. These people are despicable thugs, they should all be arrested and held responsible for all damages to the property vandalized and destroyed. Where is our incompetent President? He should be putting an end to these riots.
