University of Virginia Assistant Professor Sethunya Mokoko took a break from teaching students to get the word out this week that the entire assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump was a staged event for suckers. Mokoko explained that it was just a ploy to get the votes of “idiots.” He, however, is available to offer sage-like clarity that the Secret Service, local police, and the Trump campaign conspired to fake the assassination, kill a bystander, and seriously wound others to get the sucker vote. He is not alone in this theory while others on the left are simply bemoaning that Thomas Matthew Crooks missed.
In his tweet, Mokoko said that security ”ignored [Crooks] because trump & secrete service staged theatrics to win idiots’ vote.”
So let me get the conspiracy down. The Secret Service allowed a kid who flunked out of the high school shooting club as a bad shot to fire multiple rounds at the former president from a sloped roof at 130 yards in the hope that he would only wing him?
Mokoko previously taught at Clemson University, Gold West College, Long Beach City College and University of California, Long Beach, according to his Linkedin page.
His faculty bio states that Mokoko teaches “Race, Rhetoric, and Social Justice” and “Writing about Culture and Society.” His focus is “teaching students to appreciate and value social justice rhetorics across media; to become rhetorically listening writers, readers, and viewers; and to understand how global rhetorics shape and define agency and identification.”
He is not alone. Within minutes of the assassination attempt, the staging theory was going viral and has been picked up by many on the left. For example, actress Amanda Seales took to social media to claim that Trump used fake stage blood and sound effects to stage his assassination attempt.
“That sh** was more staged than a Tyler Perry production of Madea Runs for President. I lived in Harlem long enough to know that gunshots do not sound like making popcorn on the stove.”
She does not explain how local fireman Corey Comperatore died from the fake bullets.
Others fueled the stage conspiracy theory.
Tennessee state Rep. Antonio Parkinson posted a statement that “I certainly hope this is not a staged act. But.”
Colorado state Rep. Steve Woodrow, D-Denver, declared “The last thing America needed was sympathy for the devil but here we are.”
Aberdeen, Wash., Mayor Douglas Orr declared “The shooter is dead so we will never know if this was staged. I hope I’m wrong, but because of his record of deceit, that’s the first thing that came to mind.”
Still others accepted that the shooting was real, but complain that Crooks should not have missed. Bellarmine University English instructor John James posted on Instagram: “If you’re gonna shoot, man, don’t miss.”
Jack Black’s Tenacious D partner Kyle Gass made a wish while performing with Black that the next assassination would not miss. Various people joined in on regretting that the assassination was not successful.
This is the very face of the age of rage and shows how it is both addictive and contagious.
This idiot that teaches students how to “hear” rhetoric is the same moron telling them that this horrific event was faked??? DO these students that have been taught how to listen and discern understand that their professor is a guy with out the ability to use logic? Do they know that he is a weird guy from a foreign land that only got his job due to his foreign pedigree and his racial background.
Imagine a white professor from Hungary stating that J6 was faked.
It’s obvious that the people who are saying the assassination attempt was staged never shot a rifle in their lives. Shooting to just nick a persons ear at 148 yards with the wind blowing would have an extremely low success rate. These same people would be rejoicing if Trump hadn’t turned his head at the right moment. How would they feel if I said that I wish for the death of one of their family members. It’s all the more reason to vote against (not shoot) the man that they will be voting for.
Exactly. As I posted yesterday, the average deflection of a .223 round in a 10 mph crosswind at twice that distance is 11.5″. And that doesn’t take into consideration a number of other variables that would be involved in taking that shot from an unfamiliar spot. The idea that Trump would take such a risk to increase his lead in a race he already leads is beyond absurd, it is completely delusional.
TiT,
Reporting says the would be assassin Act Blue shooter bought the ammo a few hours prior to the shooting.
Depending on the weight of the bullet, the velocity, the wind direction and speed, the bullet could move somewhere from 1.3 inches to 1.8 inches in a 10mph wind.
In a 15mph wind, the drift runs from 2.07 to 2.77 inches.
This was calculated assuming a Hornady 73grn EDL Match bullet. If it were the more common SS109 62grn bullet, the wind drift would likely be even more.
The would be assassin Act Blue shooter was not a trained marksman. He was shooting from a odd position and under stress. While he missed Trump, he had no concern for innocent bystanders or what was behind his target.
One thing to take away from this tragic event, there really does seem to be a sense of unity. People who may not have been fans of Trump are now openly declaring they are. Some are saying they are going full MAGA and buying MAGA shirts, hats, lawn signs. All of which are trending Google searches.
The GoFund Me for the victims of the Act Blue donor have racked up some $3m plus. Some celebs and business men donating tens of thousands.
It reminds me of the reaction of the crowd at the Butler rally when Trump stood, raised his fist in defiance, and shouted to the crowd, “fight!” and they went wild.
Meanwhile various leftists, Democrats are showing their true colors with comments like, “he needed more training,” “a little to the right next time please,” “don’t miss Trump next time.”
Interesting difference.
And now with the VP pick of Vance, there seems to be even more energy.
Biden does in fact appear to be the Democrat candidate. Some Democrat strategists are saying the party has shifted it stance in light of the debate, the assassination attempt by the Act Blue donor, Vance as the Republican VP pick, Democrats are now acknowledging Biden is not going to win. All the energy has gone out of the sails. Mega-donors see no point in throwing money at a wildly known losing horse in the race. Some are even saying the DNC needs to set Biden up to take the fall, and hope they wont lose too badly in the House and Senate races.
Upstate: You note that “Mega-donors see no point in throwing money at a wildly known losing horse in the race.”
Do you think they have remorsefully resigned to the conclusion that he is a “lying dog-faced pony soldier” -and not a race horse?
Lin,
Dang it, Lin! You nearly made ice tea spew out my nose!
I’m pretty sure the word he used was “dogface”, a term which meant an ordinary G.I. like every mother’s son.
I thought that only “evil, racist, sexist, homophobic ‘conservatives'” believed in conspiracy theories.
As a deplorable, I need help with this one.
Help me s@@tlibs, what am I missing?
Please explain how this occurred.
antonio
the left has gone totally berserk, first there was the SCOTUS ruling about Presidential immunity, then there was Judge Cannon’s ruling about the constitutionality of Jack Smith’s appointment as a special prosecutor and now this a “staged assassination” in which the shooters is supposed to only wing Trump not kill him
I’m surprised that none of them have drawn comparisons to Hitler such as the prosecution of Hitler for the Beer Hall putsch of 1923 in which he was sentenced to Landsberg prison, then how he stole the 1932 German elections forcing Hindenburg to appoint him as Chancellor. I’m waiting for the event that will be compared to the Kristallnacht rampage as well as the Reichstag fire.
I once met a princess from Lesotho who was a student @ Pomona College in Claremont CA.
Maybe the king kicked this idiot out of the country?
I am used to DEI hires bring idiots or incompetents.
Democrats are the most Hate Filled, lying, violent, GREEDY, Hypocrites on the planet.
Remember the Russian Hoax for 4 years?
I want 1000’s of criminal Democrats from across government and colleges JAILED! Also anyone openly Lying about this…should be FIRED!
BTW End all federal aid to cities, states, non-profits and colleges
Defund Democrats
I wonder if a better plan would be to indict them, prove their conspiracy, corruption and subversion to everyone beyond doubt. If found guilty, confiscate every dime foreign and domestic, impound all their properties, remove their tax funded pensions and set them free. Take all proceeds and pay down the National debt. That would be fitting now would it not?
MoKooKoo’s bio page:
Sethunya Mokoko is a scholar, writer, and filmmaker from Lesotho whose research focuses on the rhetorics of storytelling across media and cultures. Mokoko’s work specializes in teaching students to appreciate and value social justice rhetorics across media; to become rhetorically listening writers, readers, and viewers; and to understand how global rhetorics shape and define agency and identification. His research and teaching commitments involve rhetorical theory, composition studies, cultural rhetorics, business writing and CREATIVE WRITING.
Students and parents actually take out student loans to pay tuition for this? Oh, I forgot, now US taxpayers repay that student debt.
Mokoko is a bad jokoko.
“Mo’ Cuckoo”
In 1967 I scored a 764 out of 800 on my verbal SAT, and a matching 764 on the optional English Composition test, and I have no clue whatsoever WTF that word salad in his bio is supposed to mean.
Various people joined in on regretting that the assassination was not successful.
I remember some people on the left saying the same thing about President Reagan in 1981. Classy, eh?
More confirmation of the “intelligence” level on campus today.
i agree prof caca needs to remember bidens quote we need to put bullseye on trump
I completely understand their emotional rage and infantile frustration. Trump is now stronger than ever. Everything these fine and totally balance people throw at him has not worked. Start with Russiarussiarussia all the way to the assassination attempt. It’s all quite amusing.
The failed lawfare is amusing. A failed assassination attempt that murdered and wounded innocent bystanders as a side-effect, not so much.
Very strange indeed. People on the left hang on every word of the Democratic leaders as truth sent from God but they don’t believe Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris when they say that the assassination attempt is not how we do things in America. These are the same people who tell us that hate should not be allowed in America. It’s there hate that brings them to the thought that the assassination was staged. You can hear the vitriol in their voices. This comes from people who know nothing about how the wind effects the flight of a bullet. Gauging the wind so that you would just nick Trumps ear from 148 yards is impossible. Did you see the wind blowing the flag behind Trump after he was shot? It just is more evidence of how stupid they are. What a laughing stock.
You miss the point! The fact that a flag was waving in the background, simply means that this whole thing was staged on the same sound set as the phony Moon landing!
The assassination attempt was faked, huh? And who are the idiots?
Thinking on it while I was out in the fields, actually this assistant professor proves and justifies all of professor Turley’s columns related to how normal Americans have a lower view on the value of higher education, higher education institutions themselves and people with degrees.
You have have a degree, an advanced degree and still be a loon.
Amanda Seales, how many of those gunshots in Harlem involved a AR15? Quite a different sound between a handgun and a long gun.
. . . normal Americans have a lower view on the value of higher education . . .
Upstate – that includes me. I have two “batches” of children, one group in late 20s and early 30s, the other in high school. With the first batch there was no question that they would go to college; not going was unthinkable. With this new group, I am not favoring it, and they don’t either. They see the debt and questionable value of such a degree and are pursuing other paths. My youngest son, for example, although exceptionally bright, is not college bound. He is in a three-year vocational-technical training program to be a mason, which I fully support, particularly since he has mild autism (a/k/a Asperger’s) and working outdoors on physical projects is his forte. No college debt and immediate earning power.
OldManFromKS,
Good to hear about your youngest son. I wish him well. I am sure he will as sounds like you raised him right.
My children went to college, but stuck to real degrees, did not buy into the BS, got in and got out as fast as possible.
My daughter did HAVE to take a DEI class, which she was pissed about.
We had 529 college plans for them so no debt for undergrad. Daughter did incur some debt for her graduate degree, but it was well worth it.
They are both doing very well.
Upstate – Thank you for your well wishes. Sounds like your kids were smart about their college careers. My older ones mostly majored in STEM fields, so they too were less scathed than their classmates (I say ‘mostly’ because one of them double-majored in computer science and visual arts). All of them were in college in November 2016 when Trump was elected. They were all peeved that their colleges basically shut down for several days to hold wailing sessions for faculty and fellow students. My art-major daughter went to an art class the day after the election and was the only student who would not declare that the entire class should be dedicated to griping about Trump. She pointed out she was there to learn art, for which her fellow students and the professor scorned her and suggested her opinion was ridiculous. That experience helped cement her conservatism, and she is one of the few conservative visual artists around.
I went to a 2 year college in Ohio, paid for it myself while working and learned a trade in general business. By the time I was in my 30’s I had worked my way up thru training on the job, hard work and common sense to a 6 figure income and never looked back!
Lynn – excellent! More power to you. You have reason to be proud of your accomplishments.
lynna3826f2fcd8,
Good for you!
You are the kind of success story leftists hate to hear about.
And . . . no indoctrination into bizarre and destructive ideologies.
Mokoko? Seriously? UVA used to be a great university. This clown should never have been hired.😡
Ultimately, this conspiracy theory is as dumb as it was to walk trumpy bear around last night at the convention with a bandage on his ear while Lee Greenwood ruminated on him getting smoked.
Rude comment, what the heck is your problem? Sorry, but I don’t think Trump wants people/news to see/show a portion of the tip of his ear gone and a wound that still probably looks pretty gross! Trump is very vein, like many of us, when it comes to appearance thus I guarantee you if he didn’t have to wear the bandage he would not be, it messes up his hair! In regard to Lee Greenwood-he is and has been a friend of Trumps for over 30 years, Greenwood had all the right to say and express he gratefulness that he did not loose his good personal friend! Again, shame on you! But, thanks for reminding me of the typical personal left progressive democrat hate!
The good professor’s opening paragraph is one of his best: succinct, pointed, and on-target (did I mean “bullseye” or in the “crosshairs?”).
Mokoto’s personal faculty Bio is revealing: look at the emphasis on “rhetoric.”
“…teaches ‘Race, Rhetoric, and Social Justice’ and ‘Writing about Culture and Society. His focus is ‘teaching students to appreciate and value social justice rhetorics across media; to become rhetorically listening writers, readers, and viewers; and to understand how global rhetorics shape and define agency and identification.’”
That is quintessentially the motive of national MSM: high on selective facts, low on opposing facts, and heavy on subliminal rhetoric to carry the ball over the line.
When I was in college in the 1970s, clowns like this would have been laughed out of the classroom. More bilge from the Academic Left.
Well, he has kind of been laughed out of the classroom. I’m going to guess this guy is maybe 40 (honestly don’t care enough to find out – guess is based on his POV) and he has taught at 6 different Universities? His resume has the look of administrators passing their problem child on to someone else while trying nit to get labeled racist.
I see a bright career for him at MSNBC!
Mo’ Cuckoo can take over the daily AM show when they’re done kicking Joe Scarborough to the curb.
Reading conspiracy theorists suggest it was faked, a deep state plot, etc makes me think they must have very short memories, etc.
This is the same Secret Service (and Capitol police) with their K-9 units that while sweeping the area around the entrance to DNC HQ prior to the arrival of Vice President Elect Harris a couple of years ago missed a pipe bomb laying under a bush close to the front door. It could be seen by a person walking by on the street, by the Secret Service and police both missed it.
And then, like this murder attempt, reacted with the speed of paint drying to the threat when it was brought to their attention.
The Secret Service has had an epidemic of incompetence and scandals for years. Having Alejandro ‘The Border Is Secure’ Mayorkas being Bribery Biden’s chosen bureaucrat in charge goes a long way towards explaining why this has never been addressed when meritocracy has been replaced by The Age Of DEI
