Silence of the Labs: How a Censorship Campaign Failed to Kill a COVID Origin Theory

Below is my column in The Hill on the recent Wall Street Journal report on the Biden Administration’s resistance to experts who voiced support for the lab theory on the origins of COVID-19. As with many academics in higher education, government experts were warned not to question the natural or zoonotic theory. In the meantime, figures like Dr. Anthony Fauci said little to support other experts who were being censored and targeted for opposing views. Call it the Silence of the Labs. The effort to marginalize such figures continues this week as pandemic hawks circle Dr. Jay Bhattacharya in anticipation of his confirmation as head of the National Institutes of Health.

Here is the column:

This week, the Wall Street Journal released an alarming report on how the Biden administration may have suppressed dissenting views supporting the lab theory on the origin of the COVID-19 virus. Not only were the FBI and its top experts excluded from a critical briefing of President Biden, but government scientists were reportedly warned that they were “off the reservation” in supporting the lab theory.

The chilling suggestion is that, despite the virus ultimately killing more than 1.2 million Americans and over 7 million people worldwide, there was still an overriding interest in the administration to downplay the Chinese responsibility for the pandemic.

The Journal lays out how that unfolded, but the more disturbing question is why.

The article provides many examples of how dissenting views were marginalized and discouraged within the government. After President Trump described the virus as the “China virus” and alleged that it likely came from a lab, dismissing the lab theory became an article of faith in politics and academia.

The problem was that FBI researchers had concluded that the lab theory was the most credible explanation. But their lead researcher, Dr. Jason Bannan, was kept out of the key meeting, and their opposing research was discounted or ignored.

They were not alone. The Journal reported that Defense Department experts John Hardham, Robert Cutlip and Jean-Paul Chretien conducted a genomic analysis that found evidence of human manipulation of the virus. It also concluded that it was done using a specific technique developed by the Chinese at the Wuhan lab. They suggested that the Chinese appeared to have altered the “spike protein” that enables the virus to enter the human body in a “gain of function” operation.

They were reportedly told to stop sharing their work and warned that they had to effectively get with the team. Later, the three wrote an unclassified May 2020 paper that was prevented from being shown outside the medical intelligence center.

At the same time, letters and articles that dismissed the lab theory were organized for public consumption. The government worked with social media companies to censor those with opposing views.

Much of the media showed the same confirmation bias and intolerance. During the Trump presidency, many journalists used the rejection of the lab theory to paint Trump as a bigot. By the time Biden became president, not only were certain government officials heavily invested in the zoonotic or natural origin theory, but so were many in the media.

Reporters used opposition to the lab theory as another opportunity to pound their chests and signal their virtue.

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace mocked Trump and others for spreading one of his favorite “conspiracy theories.” MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt insisted that “we know it’s been debunked that this virus was manmade or modified,”

MSNBC’s Joy Reid also called the lab leak theory “debunked bunkum,” while CNN reporter Drew Griffin criticized spreading the “widely debunked” theory. CNN host Fareed Zakaria told viewers that “the far right has now found its own virus conspiracy theory” in the lab leak.

NBC News’s Janis Mackey Frayer described it as the “heart of conspiracy theories.”

The Washington Post was particularly dogmatic. When Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark) raised the theory, he was chastised for “repeat[ing] a fringe theory suggesting that the ongoing spread of a coronavirus is connected to research in the disease-ravaged epicenter of Wuhan, China.”

Likewise, after Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) mentioned the lab theory, Post Fact Checker Glenn Kessler mocked him: “I fear @tedcruz missed the scientific animation in the video that shows how it is virtually impossible for this virus jump from the lab. Or the many interviews with actual scientists. We deal in facts, and viewers can judge for themselves.”

As these efforts failed and more information emerged supporting the lab theory, many media figures just looked at their shoes and shrugged. Others became more ardent. In 2021, New York Times science and health reporter Apoorva Mandavilli was still calling on reporters not to mention the “racist” lab theory.

In Kessler’s case, he wrote that the lab theory was “suddenly credible” as if it had sprung from the head of Zeus rather than having been supported for years by scientists, many of whom had been canceled and banned.

One fact, however, is already well established. The suppression of the lab theory and the targeting of dissenting scientists show the true cost of censorship and viewpoint intolerance.

The very figures claiming to battle “disinformation” were suppressing opposing views that have now been vindicated as credible. It was not only the lab theory. In my recent book, I discuss how signatories of the Great Barrington Declaration were fired or disciplined by their schools or associations for questioning COVID-19 policies.

Some experts questioned the efficacy of surgical masks, the scientific support for the six-foot rule and the necessity of shutting down schools. The government has now admitted that many of these objections were valid and that it did not have hard science to support some of the policies. While other allies in the West did not shut down their schools, we never had any substantive debate due to the efforts of this alliance of academic, media and government figures.

Not only did millions die from the pandemic, but the United States is still struggling with the educational and mental health consequences of shutting down all our public schools. That is the true cost of censorship when the government works with the media to stifle scientific debate and public disclosures.

Many still hope that Congress and the incoming Trump administration will conduct a long-needed investigation into the origins to allow for a more credible and open debate. That hope was increased by the nomination of Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, one of the organizers of the Great Barrington Declaration, to be the next head of the National Institutes of Health.

The suppression of the lab theory proves the ultimate fallacy of censorship. Throughout history, censorship has never succeeded. It has never stopped a single idea or a movement. It has a perfect failure rate. Ideas, like water, have a way of finding their way out in time.

Yet, as the last few years have shown, it does succeed in imposing costs on those with dissenting views. For years, figures like Bhattacharya (who was recently awarded the prestigious Intellectual Freedom Award by the American Academy of Sciences and Letters) were hounded and marginalized.

Others opposed Bhattacharya’s right to offer his scientific views, even under oath. For example, in one hearing, Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.) expressed disgust that Bhattacharya was even allowed to testify as “a purveyor of COVID-19 misinformation.”

Los Angeles Times columnist Michael Hiltzik decried an event associated with Bhattacharya, writing that “we’re living in an upside-down world” because Stanford University allowed dissenting scientists to speak at a scientific forum. Hiltzik also wrote a column titled “The COVID lab leak claim isn’t just an attack on science, but a threat to public health.”

One of the saddest aspects of this story is that many of these figures in government, academia and the media were not necessarily trying to shield China. Some were motivated by their investment in the narrative while others were drawn by the political and personal benefits that came from joining the mob against a minority of scientists.

We have paid too high a cost to simply shrug with the media and walk away. It is a question not only of whether China is responsible for millions of deaths but of whether our own government effectively helped conceal its culpability.

  1. The Deep State criminals, including Fauci, not only KNEW that Covid was developed and strategically released by the Wuhan Lab in China, but they PAID for it with US taxpayer dollars. Until Fauci et al. are prosecuted, convicted, and imprisoned for treason, the Deep State criminals will merely repeat their crime again with a newly manufactured and even more dangerous virus. One of the Deep State’s goals in releasing their manufactured virus was to strategically get people to accept fascistic government control over their lives. But another one was to use their manufactured virus to get Trump out of office. Their experiment proved successful. Tens of millions of people were persuaded to obey the government mandated lies. And, of course, the mass media PRESSTITUTES (including Facebook et al.) were 100% in on the crime and spread the lies and silenced the truth.

    1. The FBI agent wasn’t stupid in the sense of not knowing the truth, i.e., that this was an Islamic terrorist attack. Rather the Deep State DEI program mandates that acts of Islamic terrorism never be called that and that they be considered as isolated acts of a “crazed” “lone wolf” who was justified in carrying out the act for some “socially conscious” reason. The purpose is to normalize acts of terrorism and to get people to ultimately welcome them. Dunceocrats already do habitually welcome acts of terrorism, as they vote for them all of the time by their very acts of repeatedly voting Dunceocrat. RINOs go along with the program. And the mainstream media presstitutes do their part to promote the lies. And, “thanks” to the propaganda of the Leftist Indoctrination Entities (aka “LIEs”)–formerly called colleges and universities–they’ve got 60% of the attendees of LIEs to not only welcome Islamic terrorism (and other related forms of terrorism) but to justify the criminal acts and to condone them. These are the people who will take over organizations in the future unless they are stopped. And once they’ve got power, they will destroy America.

We have a real problem in America and the cancer has to be cut out wholesale, cutting off ALL FUNDS to the criminal FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, DOJ, SEC, LIEs (including NPR, or National “Palestinian” Radio). Without funding they will die off and be replaced by patriots and patriotic organizations, making the world a better and safer place.

  2. Jimmy Carter found peace in knowing he was not THE WORST American president ever. Carter may of not had a successful presidency, but he truly loved America and it’s people.
The same cannot be said about Biden. He is TRULY THE WORST American president, ever.

    1. Upstate: not according to presidential historians and experts–Trump ranks almost near the bottom–did you forget the COVID crisis, the tanked economy, the recession, the insults to our NATO and EU allies, the endless lying, the misogyny, the criminal and civil cases? According to “Axios”:

“Presidential historians in a new survey rank President Biden as the 14th best president in U.S. history — and put former President Trump last.

The big picture: The tally came from 154 presidential specialists who are current and recent members of the American Political Science Association. They were asked to give every president a score, from 0 to 100.

Zoom in: Abraham Lincoln topped the list with an average score of 95, while Biden scored an average of 62.66. That put him two spots above Ronald Reagan.

Representatives for Trump, who averaged just under 11 points, did not immediately respond to Axios’ request for comment.
      Top 10:

      Lincoln.
      F.D. Roosevelt.
      Washington.
      T. Roosevelt.
      Jefferson.
      Truman.
      Obama.
      Eisenhower.
      L.B. Johnson.
      Kennedy.

      1. Any list that ranks FDR, Obama, LBJ in the top ten is crap.

Prior to Biden Obama was striving for the worst presiden in US history – but Biden completely obliterated him.

No sane human would rank LBJ in the top 3/4 of presidents, He is a basement dweller.
He did not run for a 2nd full term as president because he would have lost – to ANYONE.

People were outside the WHY chanting “Hey, hey LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?”

Regardless, academia is corrupt and has been for a long time.

While Washington certainly belongs on the list of top 10 presidents.
Lincoln is more controversial. He was both the wedge that triggered the Civil war and the force that kept the country together.

But as George notes repeatedly and correctly – as president he violated the constitution egregiously more than any other president.

Any list that does not have Reagan and Coolidge in the top ten is crap. BOTH were responsible for starting very long periods of peace and prosperity.
Harding inherited a depression from Wilson, cut taxes and spending and turned the worst depression in US history up to that point arround in 13months.
Triggering a decade long period of sustained growth.

Reagan inherited a steep recession and the highest misery index in US history and turned things arround leading to the longest sustained period of growth in US history.

While Clinton does not belong in the top 10 – he was a failure in foreign policy – as was Obama, and Biden.
Clinton was a better president than FDR, Truman, Obama, LBJ, and probably even Kennedy.

FDR deserves credit for getting the US ready for WWII, but in pretty much every other way he was a total disaster.

FDR is the only US president to CAUSE a recession in the middle of a depression – by raising taxes and increasing spending.

FDR is given lots of credit by the left for his programs – but ALL of them – including those still with us FAILED.

The great depression was global – but it was the deepest and lasted the longest in the US, because FDR did almost exactly the wrong things.

The only president who was arguably worse Was Hoover – who desppite being Republicans and despite being accused of doing nothing – actually pioneered almost every program of FDR’s – and FDR’s “braintrust” even admitted that.

I would strongly suggest reading Amity Shlaes “The Forgotten Man” – it will give you an excellent overview of the great depression contrasting and the presidencies of Coolidge, Hoover and FDR.

        Here is an article
        https://www.forbes.com/sites/peterferrara/2013/11/30/the-great-depression-was-ended-by-the-end-of-world-war-ii-not-the-start-of-it/

        and a better one.
        fee.org/articles/37-if-fdrs-new-deal-didnt-end-the-depression-then-it-was-world-war-ii-that-did/

“Let’s be blunt. If the recipe for economic recovery is putting tens of millions of people in defense plants or military marches, then having them make or drop bombs on our enemies overseas, the value of world peace is called into question. In truth, building tanks and feeding soldiers—necessary as it was to winning the war—became a crushing financial burden. We merely traded debt for unemployment. ”

FDR’s spending did not put a dent in the great depression – in fact it made them worse. Unemployment was higher in 1940 than it was in 1932 when FDR was elected.
However did all the wrong things – and FDR doubled down on Hoover’s mistakes.

While Reinhart and Roggoff’s work ois NOT specific to the great depression, they established that as debt rises as a percent of GDP economic growth declines.
And that at debt over 80% of GDP it becomes almost impossible to get significant economic growth.

It is likely that because the US has the largest economy in the world, and the US dollar is the worlds reserve currency that artifically allows the US to reach higher debt levels than other countries with less negative consequences.

Japan has a horrendous debt to GDP rate and has not had consequential growth in 30 years.

Though I would disagree with Reinhart and Roggoff – though Debt is important the more important factor is Government spending as a percent of GDP.

Repeated economic studies have found that for each 10% of GDP beyond 20% (and probably beyond 10%) that economic growth declines by 1% – this has absolutely proved true for Japan and european countries. Even in the US – the more government spending has grown the weaker growth has been.

Further increased government spending increases deficits, and it has been cusotmary since 2008 to have the FED buy most US debt – and that leads to inflation.
        As we have just seen.

        Regardless, your historians are clueless.

        1. I note that under LBJ the following important legislation/programs were enacted: the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Fair Housing Act.

          1. The CRA is unconstitutional with respect to those parts that apply to private citizens, Portions of the VRA are unconstitutional, though mostly recent SCOTUS decisions have terminated those. The CRA and VRA are also mostly unnecescary as they are covered by the 14th amendment and SCOTUS prior to passage of the VRA and CRA had been enforcing the 14th amendment – see Brown Vs Board of education or decisions against poll taxes and poll tests.

So no – neither the CRA nor VRA are in reality consequential.

Medicare and medicaid are a huge mistake that is responsible for 90% of the increase i healthcare costs in the US.
Further they provide NO VALUE – it is a COMMON misconception of the left that when Government creates an entitlement that there is no cost, or that the cost is actually born by others. The first is completely untrue, the 2nd is mostly false – no matter who you tax for anything, the real cost always gets transfered to consumers one way or another – it is unavoidable.

I would further note that insurance companies have studied health care and insurance for something like 70 years. They have NEVER EVER found a link between health insurance and actual health or health outcomes. That should be obvious – does flood insurance prevent floods ? Does fire insurance prevent fires ? Does auto insurance prevent accidents ?
Insurance is ALWAYS about socializing the financial COST of harm – NOT reducing the actual harm.

So what has Medicare/Medicaid actually done ? It has transfered the cost of healthcare for seniors to private payers, private insurers, the medical industry and tax payers.
That is both inefficient and drives up costs. They were also a huge moral hazard from the start – you NEVER EVER want the people consuming something to NOT be the people paying for it – otherwise you ALWAYS get massive over consumption.

The entire reason for copays in health insurance is because most people – unlike their auto, and home insurance, do not pay for their health insurance theirfore they have no incentive to self regulate their consumption. Copays are the way that health insurance keeps consumers from massively overconsuming healthcare driving prices up.

Re-iterating what I said at the start – none of this has had any impact on the actual health of americans.

You listed several peices of legislation that LBJ had a role in – what EXACTLY was the REAL benefit of any of them.

Again this is a typical problem with the left.

If I sponsor the APGTH all puppies go to heave bill – the pressure to pass it will be enormous – even if the actual legislation seeks to euthanize all pets.

Rather than fixate on the names of legislation – look at the ACTUAL – not CLAIMED benefits and effects.

There is extremely little in the way of legislation that the federal govenrment has passed in 200 years that has had a net positive effect.

People were not dying for lack of medical care prior to Medicare. There was absolutely no change in the trends for quality of health care, healthcare outcomes, or life expectance resulting from medicare – so there was ZERO health benefit. The cost of healthcare went up rapidly, the unnecescary consumption of healthcare went up.

I would note EXACTLY the same is true albeit on a smaller scale with PPACA – the only effect of PPACA has been to make healthcare more expensive and to change by a small amount who pays for it. Fundimentally the PPACA is a $2T/decade give away to the medical industry. Worse it has incentivized the consulidation of medicare care.
There are fewer and fewer small medium and even large medical practices. More and more meical care is provided by huge conglomerates.
How well did that work out in the pharmacy industry ?

          2. Why do you think that each of these is “important” ?
What is it that you think the CRA or VRA or Medicare actually changed ?

The most important changes regarding Voting rights are the consequence of SCOTUS decisions BEFORE the VRA that enforced the 14th amendment.
The same is true of the CRA
Both peices of legislation are credited with changes that had already taken place.

          3. Sorry, I missed the Fair Housing act – maybe the worst of them all.

That resulted in the destruction of massive amount of inner city housing and its replacement with huge housing projects that quickly became disasters and remain so through today. We have fortunately torn down the infamous cabrini green. But Few remember that Cabrini green and the many many other government housing projects that were envisioned as wonders of modern social engineering proved to be the creation of hell holes.

I would note this is extremely common as a consequence of famous government legislation.

I do not have the answer to problems of homelessness, drug addiction, mental health – but look at 200 years of govenrment efforts in each of those areas and tell me WHAT we have done that has worked ? You want my sympathy for those problems ? you have it. You want me to condemn as barbaric the efforts we took that we thought were enlightened at the time – certainly.

In the 19th century we started the creation of essentially care fascilities for those with mental health problems. This was a purportedly enlightened approach for the time.
But this resulted in all kind of abuse and mistreatment. These were often worse than prisons and worse you could end up there with no due process.
A growing recognition of the abuses in these institutions resulted in their demise starting before the 60’s and through to the 80’s.

That resulted in an increase in homelessness and drug addition – who would have gussed that releasing these people on the streets would go badly ?

This has then resulted in the current approach of criminalizing mental health issues – so now we find a wy to convict them of something and we jail them which is possibly worse than the “enlightened” approach of the 19th century.

This is a simplified overview. But the FACT is that we have a collection of problems that may not have a solution. That even if there is one, it is not a one size fits all solution.
That with near certainty the best we can hope for is slow improvement as we try different approaches for diferent people and groups of people.

In otherwords if we do what the free market is best at and government sucks at.

Again when of the huge difference between government and free markets is that government promises utopia and usually delivers hell. While the free market promises and delivers only continuous and usually gradual improvement.

            1. Based on your criticism, I think you may be confusing the Fair Housing Act with the implementation of public and assisted housing programs.

          4. Using real data – in what way did each/any of these actually improve what they were supposed to improve ?

The circumstances of minority families in the US improved greatly during the 20’s, it improved again in the 50’s post WWII, but some of the worst damage to minority families in the US happened as a result of LBJ’s programs – including specifically the ones you cite. While we have seen some subsequent improvemnt – the Gingrich/Clinton feal to end welfare as we know it had significant positive impacts on minority communities until the great recession Obama’s unilateral restoration of many of these programs was net harmful to minority families. Trump’s burgeoning economy – with most of the benefits to the working class benefited minority families. While Biden’s reversals harmed them.

There is a reason that minorities are shifting republican. Because free markets – not government have improved the standard of living of minority families, because even when they can not express these things in Phd Thesis formats minority families to a large extent grasp what has helped them and what has not.

The programs that you listed had negative impacts on minority families. Most SLOWED the rise of the standard of living. That is a huge and common problem with government benefits, they ultimately trap you in government poverty. But free markets and free market friendly government polices have improved the lot of minorities – as they have done for CENTURIES for every single group that was ever at the bottom. Poles, Jews, Asians, Italians, Irish, … were all at or near the bottom in this country often for several generations. Now they are the middle class or the upper class or the uber rich. All that happened without government.

That is what freedom does for people.

      2. Italy, Germany, France, UK, CA, AU are among a Few of the NATO allies that are themselves in the midst of populist revolts.
Soon enough most of those NATO leaders will be politically their nations equivalent of Trump.

Why BTW would anyone listen to Axios ?

Touching economics – I have told you how great a disaster left wing economics has been throughout history and throughout the world.

There are myriads of examples where left wing nut economics got us in trouble – or deepened out problems.
        Bidenomics comes immediately to mind.
Obama did the worst job of managing a recession since FDR.

But lets look at the alternate.

You provided a list of great presidents – overlooking Coolidge and Reagan.
Coolidge inherited a depression from Wilson, He ended it in 13 months. It was the fastest and deepest recession in US history to that point –
The economic collapse was much faster than the great depression, and the recovery was as fast as the decline.
What did Coolidge do ? Cut Taxes, Cut spending, and cut debt. The result was the longest period of sustained growth in US history to that point – the “roaring 20’s”
Reagan came to office during a severe recession – much worse than that Obama inherited, He cut taxes, cut spending (except for defense), and the result was the longest sustained period of growth in US history – the great moderation which continued through to the Great recession.
Prior to Trump’s election in 2016 – the US was headed back into a recession. Probably a mild one, but still a reession. No Trump did not inherent a strong economy from Obama, he inherited a yoyo economy headed into recession. While Obama had quarters with 4% or higher growth the average growth for Obama’s 8 years was 1.48% – which is almost as bad as europe. While Trump did NOT create the greatest economy in US history – he did double Obama’s economic growth – and that is a very big deal. What did Trump do ? Cut taxes and cut regulation and got government out of the way of investment. Biden had atleast on qtr of 7% growth which was to be expected coming out of the disasterous economic response to the lockdowns. It is hard to immagine a more economically stupid idea. What did Biden do ? raised taxes, increased spending increased debt, and what was the result a worse yoyo economy than Obama that despite haveing some good qtrs is likely to average about 1.6% growth after inflation for the past 4 years.

But we can look elsewhere than the US. Thatcher inherited a country that was about to drop into the 2nd world from the first. She sold off a significant portion of the socialist economy and Britain recovered incredibly. Thatcher is the 3rd longest serving british prime minister, the longest serving in the 20th century – beating even Churchill.
And she is of course universally hated by the left – much like Trump because ….. She succeeded.

I have little doubt that current left wing nut historians will loath Trump – much like you do, thoughtlessly lying. But real history will not be written by todays communist academics.
        Outside of Thatcher ?

Pinoche removed the lawless government of Allende who was actually working to have his own country invaded to stay in power.
Politically Pinchet leaves some things to be desired – though the use of government to kill and torture political opposition was TINY compared to pretty much ANY left wing government EVER. Regardless Pinochet brought in a free market and until the left regained power in Chile Chile had a strong vibrant economy – they are still doing much better than Venezuela.

Or there is Milei – barely a year, and he has SLASHED Argentine govenrment – brough inflation down dramatically. gone from recession to growth, The Argentine government is running a surplus for the first time in 130 years

There are similar stories in Uraguay, and Poland and much (but not all) the former USSR. There is the same free market story regarding Germany after WWII. That created the German that existed up until recently.

Put simply the evidence is in from everywhere in the world. Keynesian economics does not work. Conversly the classical econmic that Adam Smith founded has worked everywhere it has ever been tried.

      3. Here is a short and relatively easy to understand video on why central planning always results in poverty.
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpzJsW0tVqA

I would note that it does not have to be economic central planning – it can be public heatlh central plannng or dealing with a pandemic.

It does not matter Whatever the issue. central planing always fails in some permutation of the same way.

      4. I’m not sure where the “154 presidential specialists” are from, but I do remember about the 51 “intelligence specialists” that suggested that the Hunter laptop was Russian disinformation.

    2. Upstate,
Yes, President Carter was not the worst. His was a painful presidency. I remember interested rates in the mid to upper teens. Gas prices through the roof and Iran humiliating the United States. I was glad to see him go! He was a much better ex president than a President.

Joe Biden is the worst President in modern history. The shameful exit from Afghanistan and leaving enormous U.S. armaments will forever be remembered. The millions of unvetted illegals overwhelming our borders. The destructive war in Europe has cost tens of thousands of lives. China is circling like a vulture.

The list of deceitful actions and the weaponization of the DOJ and the alphabet government agencies is disgraceful.

The good thing about the incoming administration will be the change in policy. However, the United States is in a precarious place (as is the world) and it will take a titanic effort to stop us from going over the cliff.

Biden’s administration greased the skids. History will not be kind to him.

  3. “. . . government scientists were reportedly warned that they were *’off the reservation’* . . .” (emphasis added)

    “off the reservation”

That is an unwittingly perfect description of the power-lusters’ tribalist mentality.

  4. “downplay the Chinese responsibility for the pandemic…”

Long before there was an iota of unclassified evidence one way or the other, Fauci scramble the jets to protect a whole list of people who probably aided in the origin and spread of the pandemic. His hastily organized conference call on Feb. 1, 2020 to produce a pre-exonerating statement is, in my mind, a sign of a guilty conscience and fear.

Want to know how Fauci and Birx operate? Read Scott Atlas’s book.

  5. Anyon who can troubleshoot WordPress please HELP.

When the first comment page on this post was open I posted a long post on te COVID SCAM, it vanished into thin air. Later I attempted to post it again and got a notification of a duplicate post so it is in the system but is hung up for some reason:-
    Prolematic Content;
    Bad Words;
    Needing moderation or whatever.

I would like to find out the exact reason.

  6. I gather that the lab theory “deniers” don’t realize the contradiction in their position.

On the one hand, they argue for the *natural* transmission of the virus (the zoonotic theory). On the other, they argue against the *natural* transmission of the virus — by denying the reality of *natural* immunity.

    1. *natural immunity to a retrovirus 😂 yeah, just let AIDS run its course and 20 percent of worlds population will survive …natural immunity.

Sinister devil using human DNA to replicate. Little Itty bitty pieces of human DNA trash

    1. My recollection is that NIH money passed through an entity controlled by a person who was Fauci’s friend. I wonder why this was not incliuded in Prof. Turley’s artilcle. Such participation and knowledge rises above merely censoring opposing views.

      1. This is ALWAYS the problem with government – we forget that those in government are people, and like most people – they seek power, and as lord Acton noted power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

In Federalist 51 Madison notes that men are not angels and hence government is nevescary, but that government is composed of those same men who are not angels.

Aside from the assorted checks that Madison proposes one of the most funidmentally important is LIMITING govenrment.

The very conduct of those like Fauxi in the federal govenrment is not only tolerable, but ultimately even good privately. The difference is that privately gathering power comes with accountability. Private actors are always accountable to consumers. Private power requires making consumers happy. And consumers can be fickle.

    2. DoD and NIH gave $140 million to EcoHealth, who in turn gave Wuhan Lab $600 thousand (total over 10 years), a pittance. Not enough to create a novel virus. But the talk among US Republicans is that the US gave Wuhan Lab millions upon millions to do gain-of-function on Covid which is a myth.

  7. This will go down in history as one of the greatest cover-ups in the history of mankind – from the Chinese Government shutting down all access to the Wuhan lab data, to the US government shutting down all discussion of the obvious lab gain-of-function origin of Covid-19.
When will the lawyers finally go after China and sue the bajillions out of them
as responsible for the death and disability of millions of victims?

    1. More and more, the evidence points to the to the US as the culprit. Only the US has the expertise and funds to create such a virus. That is the reason for the US to coverup for China. See Ron Unz on his contention that Covid was a biological attack on China, including earlier attack with bird flu, and swine flu. If he is finally proven correct, should not the US pay the world trillions for the losses?????
      https://www.unz.com/runz/is-the-tide-finally-turning-on-covid-as-an-american-biowarfare-attack/

      1. You are correct. The virus was indeed created in a lab but rather than being leaked, was released on China and Iran to cripple China’s economy and eliminate a large percentage of Iran’s leaders.

  8. Kessler using a freaking cartoon to “prove” that the virus spread definitively could not have resulted from a lab leak pretty well summarizes the intellectual acumen and integrity of those loud, bleating sheeple.

    1. * The WHO appears to have functioned properly. China was forthcoming in late 2019 of a pneumonia of unknown origin. WHO went into action in Europe and by early Feb identified a cluster in France and Germany and some had traveled to China. The original reporting where small nbers in Europe of 38 people 14 having been in China.

China did not hide the origin and pinpointed the province with clusters leading to a wet market. 3 cases were found of lab workers.

      There’s no mystery. Shit happens.

      1. Sorry, but on January 14, 2020, the WHO tweeted that there was no “clear” evidence of human-to-human transmission. They knew the truth. Liars all. The entire UN organization is anti-West.
Here’s the tweet: Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China
In his second edition epilogue of “The Great Influenza” by John M. Barry, he warned of China’s duplicity and pretty much predicted this event.

        1. Tweeted? 😂 good source

They’re looking for a cancer cure. Nasty business. Yes, evidence of human transmission…

      2. I do not know where you have your information from – but myriads of “experts” have tried to connect C19 to the “wet markets” in china and have FAILED miserably.

The earliest cases in China were likely in September, and were associeted with WIV, subsequent cases were clustered arround public transportation to/from WIV.

The Wet marketts were at significant distance from WIV and no cases showed up tied to wet markets until MUCH later.

Scientists have spent MASSIVE efforts trying to find C19 or C19 precursors in Nature, in samples taken from the Wuhan Wet Markets, and have UTTERLY failed.

By far the strongest evidence of a lab leak is the absence of ANY evidence of a natural vector. While there is little doubt that C19’s distant ancestor is a Bat Corona Virus found in China – about 1000 miles from Wuhan, there is no natural evolution evidence from that Bat Corona Virus – none, anywhere.

In Prior instances of SARS variants – within WEEKS health officials found the natural source. That has NOT happened after 4 years with Covid despite massive efforts to do so.

        1. John, what is your purpose to lie??? It is well known that all studies point to the wet market as the main center of infection in the Fall of 2019. It just make you a liar to yourself. Quote, “These reports confirm that most of the earliest human cases centered around the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market. Within the market, the data statistically located the earliest human cases to one section where vendors of live wild animals congregated and where virus-positive environmental samples concentrated. ” Reference, https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abp8715

  9. “Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.) expressed disgust that Bhattacharya was even allowed to testify as “a purveyor of COVID-19 misinformation.””

maybe now is the time for the representative to update that statement on his website to include an apology to Dr. Bhattacharya

    1. The are retroviruses. Nasty parasitic diseases. It’s amazing there are decomposes of every single piece of junk on earth. As if any of these people know what they’re doing is the biggest bullchat.

Travel has allowed this nasty stuff to geonavigate …herd immunity my arse.

  10. “FBI and its top experts excluded from a critical briefing of President Biden, ”
knowing what we know now about how Biden’s staff and others protected are we even sure he understood what the briefing was about?

  11. “Thing about the ‘lab leak’ conspiracy is that you really have to misunderstand…” EVIDENCE.

The first manifestation of the effects of “China Flu, 2019” appeared in Wuhan, China.
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

“Report: Wuhan lab workers were sick with flu-like symptoms in November 2019”

Wuhan lab workers sick with flu-like symptoms in 2019 sparks COVID-19 origin questions (NCD)

A U.S. intelligence report indicating that three researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China became sick with a flu-like illness and had to be hospitalized is adding fuel to the debate over the origins of the COVID-19 virus that has killed some 3.4 million people worldwide.

According to the report obtained by The Wall Street Journal, a group of researchers at the lab in the city that became ground zero for the virus became sick at the end of 2019 “with symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illness.”

    – ABC News

    1. when our government officials were repeatedly pressed to provide the factual details of those allegedly-infected laboratory workers, the individuals they finally identified turned out to be data analysts who never had had any direct contact with the live viruses studied there, strongly suggesting that their names had merely been plucked off the Internet to fill out a propaganda-hoax.

      https://www.unz.com/runz/american-pravda-propaganda-hoaxes-vs-chinese-reality/

    2. Somebody clearly needs to brush up on how anecdotes relate to evidence and vice versa. ..

Not to mention gullibility to propaganda issues.

      Party on!

  12. Thing about the ‘lab leak’ conspiracy is that you really have to misunderstand virology and research protocol in order to go whole hog into it. In other words, you magats are idiots.

      1. It was done on purpose immediately prior to the reelection of President Trump.

General Milley probably called Xi Jinping with the “Go” orders.

        1. Where is your proof, Tom? The virus was identified in 2019 while Trump was in office, and spread in 2020 while he was lying to us about how serious it was–“no worse than the flu”, even though it is 10xs more deadly. His incompetence cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans. Why do you believe conspiracy theories and lies over actual evidence, like epidemiological and genetic evidence that the virus did not come from the lab, much less “on purpose”? Oh, but you are a MAGA so you do like to believe lies that benefit Trump.

          1. Gees, here we go again. Did President Trump rely on his medical advisors or did he veto their advice? Turns out his advisors were working for the deep state like so many others. And instead of mouthing talking points from the DNC, why not post the links to that evidence you so robustly exclaim here?

          2. “he was lying to us about how serious it was–“no worse than the flu”

@Ms. know-nothing Gigi: Based on the percentage of the population, the American death rate from the 1019 flu was almost twice as high as the death rate from COVID-19, and most of those deaths occurred under Biden. The Democrats blocked the ability to manage an infectious disease and even blocked the release of the vaccine. Nancy Pelosi, the real leader of the Democrat Party, had everybody partying and dancing in Chinatown. You complain about Trump downgrading Covid at the beginning, but you forget the absolute idiotic way the Democrats acted.

            1. S. Meyer: is it possible for you to provide attribution for what you claim are facts? Democrats did not block anything.

              1. Everything SM said was available on the news – even places like CNN and MSNBC.
The democrat narative on How Trump failed to deal with Covid went through many evolutions.

First Democrats opposed the Vaccine – until after the election when it was clear Biden was going to be president and they could take ownership of the vaccine.

While Many of us correctly credit Trump with the incredibly rapid deveopment of the vaccine.

It was still self evident very shortly after real data on the vaccine was made public that it COULD NOT end the pandemic, it took somewhat longer to establish that outside of high risk groups, the vaccine was likely more dangerous that helpful.

I think the rapid development of the C19 vaccine is a great accomplishment that Trump was instrumental in.
That said the expectation that it would prove a miracle cure to end the pandemic was always short sighted.

The CORRECT response to Covid was to unleash the free market on it.

You pooh pooh constantly Ivarmectin and HCQ – WHY ? Both are in WHO’s list of the safest and most useful drugs in existance.
Both are available without perscription in much of the world. Both are incredibly cheap and are effective against a large number of diseases.

It was ALWAYS perfectly reasonable to test those – and myriads of other drugs against covid.

From Day One the best possible outcome was to test the 400,000 already approved drugs – especially those that are safer than Aspirin like HCQ and Ivarmectin lookjing for one that would work. No new drug from scratch could possibly be available in 1/10th the time that finding an existing drug that worked could be done.

I would note that BOTH HCQ and Ivarmectin – along with LOTS of other existing drugs were found to kill Covid in vitro.

Ivarmecting and HCQ were particularly significant as they are dirt cheap, and massively available.

Even if they only reduced deaths or infections by 10% – and it is likely that BOTH are atleast that effective, that would have been well worth it while we looked for something else.

Remdsevir showed up by Fall 2020 – that too was a repurposed drug. But it was extremely expensive, and unlike HCQ and Ivarmectin far from production in huge quantities. Still it would have been great if it worked. Todate there is no evidence that it worked even as well as HCQ or Ivarmectin.

Thus far the most effective treatment for C19 is calcieral – the active analog of Vitamin D. It is NOT unfortunately a miracle cure. While we KNOW that people with normal levels of Vitamin D are significantly more resistant to infection and to cancer and that they tend to get significantly less sick when infected – and this is NOT JUST C19 – but overall. In fact there seems to be no single thing that a person can do to improve their resistance to disease and cancer than to maintain normal VitD levels.

But the action of VitD in the body and against Covid is complex. VitD works in combination with other vitamins and its effectiveness varries based on the totality of your profile. So people with normal VitD levels still get cancer and get the flu and get Covid, and some die – but far less than people without normal VitD levels.

Administering Calciferol to people with Covid today is by far the most effective treatment – but all Calciferol is, is VitD after being processed into effetive form by your body. Put simply – it takes days before VitD is processed by your body into its effective form, so VitD capsules are ineffective if you already have covid, or the flu.
While Calciferol will take effect in hours.

Calciferol – like HCQ and Ivarmectin is OTC – so anyone can get it. But unless you are already sick or have difficultly digesting VitD you should just take VitD it is cheaper and just takes longer.

Regardless, on the the HUGE problems with the US and global response to Covid was this complete and abject failure to harness the power of the free markets.

From the start the public health community was Terrified that Covid might be defeated outside of their control.

From the moment the seriousness of C19 was understood – we should have been encouraging every biolab in the country – even Medical hackers in their garages to find solutions.

Instead of the left and the public health establishment waging Holy war on HVQ or Ivarmecting they should have been encouraging tests – and trials official and unofficial.

We should have encouraged doctors to try their own off label treatments and gather data to see is anything helped.

Even a reduction of 10% in infections or death would have been tens of thousands of lives.

Instead – the left and Big Pharma conspired to demonize and kill ANYTHING outside of their control.

I am not personally anti big pharma. I am anti central planning. Big Pharma was more likely to produce a drug or vaccine than small labs and garage bio hackers or doctors trying drugs off label.

But the goal was to weaken or defeat the pandemic NOT a boon to big pharma.

Yet those like you on the left CONSTANTLY adopted idiotic and often shifting and self contradictory naratives.

You ranted constantly about HCQ. BTW HCQ is much like VitD in that there is LOTS of powerful evidence that it is effective against C19 and other diseases, but that its behavior is complex and we do not yet know all the other factors that are necescary to produce consistent reliable benefits.

It should not be surprising that what works depends on may other factors beside the drug or treatment itself.
And that is why we want to unleash free markets to conduct as many trials as possible.

We WANT doctors to try things in their practice – sticking to the Fisrts do no harm requirement.

When SOME produce beneficial results THEN we want to conduct formal studies – to0 verify the benefit and then to quantify doses and the condictions to maximize the outcome.

But my point is that most problems – especially big problems like pandemics are solved BOTTOM up – not top down.

And from the start – those of you on the left fought tooth and nail any effort to come up with a bottom up tools to fight covid.

It was trivial to predict YOUR response to any covid news.

If it harmed Trump – you bought it hook line and sinker.
If it favored Publil Health officials – you were for it.
If it favored top down central planing you were for it.

Your views on anything had nothing to do with the merits of the possibilities of that thing – but how it fit into your prefered narative.

The Covid Vaccine is the perfect example.

The MOMENT the data on the effectiveness and the expected half life of that effectiveness was available.
it was 100% mathematically possible to establish that the vaccine would NOT eradicate covid.
It was also clear that it could not even drive it out of a small country or state.

That does not mean the vaccine is useless.
It means that atleast initially is MUST be targeted ONLY at those most vulnerable.
The elderlly and those with multiple comorbidities.

The safety profile of the vaccine too longer to establish, but it still was clear quickly that the C19 vx was NOT suitable for mass vaccination.
That again ti should ONLY be given to those with a hig risk of death from covid.

I think the mRNA technology of the C19 vaccine is going to prove in the long run to be a phenomenal tool in curing diseases and medical problems.

That does NOT mean the C19 vax met all our hopes and expectations.

There is nothing wrong with Hope.
There is a great deal wrong with blind hope administered by force.

              2. Gigi, you are insincere. Many, including myself, provided you with the documentation you requested. Almost never do you respond. Later, you repeat the same garbage. Why would anyone want to satisfy your request which requires them to spend time?

These things are easy to look up especially Nancy Pelosi in Chinatown. The others are numbers where one can document what I said to be true.

I am tired of your lies and refuse to waste time with you. However, if you desire to be truthful you can look up the data yourself and we can discuss it. I can help you with the mathematics.

            1. Tom: not only are you mentally ill, but your continuous postings of pornographic material may well violate criminal statutes. You keep posting pornography—why? WTF is wrong with you? Is it because you don’t have facts to counter logical argument, so you lash out in the most misogynistic and insulting ways your small mind can conceive of? Your irrational hatred is the product of both your gullibility and the lies of MAGA media that you rely on and that Turley chooses to be a part of and is emblematic of Trump and what he stands for.

      2. So China leaked the virus on purpose to attack itself??? I would think that a virus leaked on purpose would have a USA origin. Right?????

      3. Read Chapter 1 of Robert F Kennedy Jr’s book “The real Anthony Fauci”, it is all there.

All regulatory organs of the US Government and The World Health Organization are completely controlled by Western Big Business and the morbidly rich for their benefit. Pfizer and Moderna were introducing a completely new vaccine technology, mRna vaccines and did not want to go through the onerous series of clinical trials that would of been needed in the ordinary course of events. They needed a serious pandemic so they could use mRna vaccines against it under emergency use authorization which is only allowable when thee are no known existing drugs that are effective against the disease. In fact there are many safe off-patent drugs that medicos trialed and found to work.

Earlier I submitted a longer version of this comment and it vanished into thin air if it is stuck in a SPAM filter or moderation queue could someone with access please seaerch for it.

    1. Along with idiots such as the FBI, the DoE, and we now know the scientists working on behalf of the DIA who actually did the research and concluded in favour of lab leak before being silenced by their superiors. Not to mention the many scientists who believe the virus was most likely a lab product.

    2. The “story” is about the lack of credibility of the press, democrats, the left, and our public health institutions.

I have no idea what you think you mean by your comment.

The source of the virus is a question that REQUIRES FACTUAL examination to determine what improvements need to be made in the future.

You appear to beleive that it is possible to conduct dangerous research with perfect safety. That displays complete ignorance of history.
Oerfection does not exist. Research protocols reduce the odds of a dangerous accident – hopefully to a miniscule level.
No matter what – a mistake WILL eventually be made.

Mistakes in research into lethal and highly contageous virus’s is more dangerous that radioactive research. No nuclear accident could possibly how the scale of harm that Covid has had.

We are also quite fortunate that Covid was not more contageous and more lethal. The 1918 spanish flu was far more deadly.

Regardless the mutations of Covid over time are themselves evidence the virus was a lab product. Covid became more contageous and less deadly over time. That is how evolution works. The perfect virus from an evolutionary perspective does not harm – possibly even helps its host, and is infinitely contageous.

Regardless we have had Other SARS outbreaks – ones that actually come from nature.

We have ALWAYS found the natural source within weeks. It is now over 4 years. We have found nothing in nature that is not tens of thousands of mutations away from the original Wuhan strain.
there is plenty of other evidence, but the most fundimental proof of lab origens is that there is nothing within 10,000 generations of covid in nature.

    3. In other words, you magats are idiots.

And Bolshevik Biden Birthing Boys having their monthly blues also assure us we need to join them believing that the Bribery Biden Laptop is just Putin’s election campaign disinformation.

  13. More pro-MAGA slop paid for by Murdoch, who OWNS the WSJ, so everything it publishes that criticizes Biden is suspect. Turley knows that the MAGAs don’t look at the details of what he posts for disclaimers–like this big whopper: that the Biden administration MAY HAVE suppressed dissenting views. What was stopping anyone, in this free country, from expressing any views it has? Nothing, and certainly not the Biden administration. Trump wanted to attack the Chinese, so he said, without qualification, that the virus came from the Wuhan lab. That has not been proven–it is just one theory–and is not the likeliest, based on epidemiological and genetic evidence. Here is an excerpt from “Wikipedia” on the origins:

“Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been efforts by scientists, governments, and others to determine the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Similar to other outbreaks,[1][2] the virus was derived from a bat-borne virus and most likely was transmitted to humans via another animal in nature, or during wildlife bushmeat trade such as that in food markets.[5] While other explanations, such as speculations that SARS-CoV-2 was accidentally released from a laboratory have been proposed,[6][7][8] such explanations are not supported by evidence.[9][10] Conspiracy theories about the virus’s origin have also proliferated.[11]

Research is ongoing as to whether SARS-CoV-2 came directly from bats or indirectly through an intermediate host, such as pangolins, civets,[12] or raccoon dogs.[13][14] Genomic sequence evidence indicates the spillover event introducing SARS-CoV-2 to humans likely occurred in late 2019.[citation needed] As with the 2002–2004 SARS-CoV-1 outbreak, efforts to trace the specific geographic and taxonomic origins of SARS-CoV-2 could take years, and results may be inconclusive.[citation needed]

In July 2022, two papers published in Science described novel epidemiological and genetic evidence that suggested the pandemic likely began at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market and did not come from a laboratory.[15][16][17]”. If you want to see the attribution for each of these statements, look at the Wikipedia article.

So, no, Turley, the underlying premise of today’s toilet piece–that it most likely came from a laboratory, and that Biden suppressed or censored scientists from saying so–is flawed. If the epidemiological and genetic evidence pointed to most likely cause being other than the lab, then it would be disseminating disinformation and misinformation to blame the lab. Anything to attack Biden and Democrats. But the real reason is to shovel chum to the disciples, who don’t notice little qualifiers like “may have”, and who need affirmation that Biden is bad, Trump is good, Trump will fix it. Trump got hundreds of thousands of Americans killed unnecesarily due to his utter incompetence, including his incompetent handling of COVID and the lies he told about quack cures. Excerpted from “Forbes”, dateline 2/11/2021:

“The Lancet launched the commission on Public Policy and Health in the Trump Era in April 2017, tasking the group with chronicling the administration’s actions.

The commission’s analysis found that 461,000 fewer Americans would have died in 2018 if the United States’ death rate had been equivalent to those of the other G-7 nations.

The 49-page report also concludes that Trump’s “hostility” to environmental regulations (including the rollback of at least 84 separate environmental and workplace protections) significantly worsened pollution, resulting in more than 22,000 extra deaths in 2019 alone.

According to the commission, Trump’s “appalling response” to the coronavirus pandemic, which included the politicization of masks and repudiation of science, “expedited the spread of Covid-19” in the U.S.

The Trump Administration’s cuts to global health programs and public health agencies greatly hindered the country’s response to the pandemic, the report states, “causing tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths.””

Turley, I hope that fat paycheck from Murdoch compensates, in your mind, the selling of your credentials.

    1. Gigi, the research into natural origens has been ongoing for more than 4 years. The Bat Corona Virus that C19 did initially come from is probably 10,000 mutations from what appeard i Wuhan in Nov 2019.

The initial infections do NOT trace to Wet Markets, but involve the lab personel ad those in contact with them.

Regardless when a virus mutates naturally – we can find the predecessor quite quickly. Other SARS outbreaks were tied of a natural source within a few weeks.
Despite massive research we have found Nothing in nature that links the Bat Corona Virus to C19.
The absence of evidence is evidence of absence. C19 was manufactured in a lab from the Bat Corona Virus, It did NOT come to us through nature.

Ongoing research 4 years after the fact is nonsense.

Surely you remember all the documentation While Covid was morphing Where we tracked every single mutation – and there were thousands as Covid spread.

If covid came from nature – we would see the evidence in nature of 10,000 mutations as the Bat Virus transformed itself into C19.

      That evidence does not exist.

    2. More pro-MAGA slop paid for by Murdoch, who OWNS the WSJ,

Gigi, you still drinking that cheap wine you stole at the CNN party for their journalists who won the Pulitzer Prize for their investigative journalism that found the Trump-Russia Dossier proved Trump worked with Putin to steal the 2016 election?

Any chance those cutting edge CNN journalists are going to return their prizes and the money, now that everybody knows that it was nothing other than illegal campaign smearing written by an illegally hired Russian spy that was under espionage investigation by the FBI at the time?

BTW Gigi, who owns the Pornhub page where those gaping crotch shots you modeled for Hunter Biden to photograph are on display?

You must have had the entire hotel room stinking like the hold of a cod fishing boat while you were modelling for those photographs.

    3. The lancet claim is interesting – given that the EU had the same mortality rate as the US.
Given that there were only 300K total covid deaths during Trump’s term.
Given that there were only 1.2M deaths attributed to Covid in the US and almost 1M of them were while Biden was president.

If the US death toll was reduced by 461K that would be a lower mortality rate and ANY G-7 country,

So pretty sure the Lancet is full of crap.

It is this kind of politically biased left wing nut garbage that destroys peoples trust in science that has been politicized by the left.

In fact if the US death deaths were reduced by 461K – that would result in a downward deviation of a very long term trend.

Put differently – though there were about 1.2M US deaths over the past 4 years attributed to Covid, there were less than 461K “excess deaths” – i.e. People who would not have died of something if not Covid.

I would further note that that under 500K ofg “excess deaths are MOSTLY not Covid deaths.

They are additional suicides, additional drug overdoses, additional cancer and other deaths from delays in seeking treatment.

Covid did kill 1.2M people over 3 years. But nearly all of those were going to die during that 3 year period anyway.

As has been repeatedly noted nearly all Covid deaths are people with atleast one other comorbidity. I beleive 90% of covid deaths had 2 or more comorbidities.
With rare exceptions the people who died of covid were old and unhealthy – Both Biden and Trump got covid and not only lived but were not even hospitalized despite the fact that both are well into the high risk of death age for Covid. Why didn’t atleast one of the die ? Because both were healthy for their age. Trump has no known health problems, and Biden’s Dementia is not considered a comorbidity for Covid.

While both got excellent healthcare – there is ZERO evidence anywhere in the world that quality of healthcare had a positive effect on Covid deaths.
In Fact the death rates were highest in the countries in the world with the best healthcare systems – because those usually correlate heavily to the least healthy populations.

The US as an example has more than double the Type II diabetes rate of anywhere else in the world. For most of history and even today in most of the world – Type II diabetes is a death sentence. In most of the world the 10 year survival rate with type II diabetes is very very low. In the US everyone with type II diabetes who follows medical advice lives a full live.
That is not true anywhere else in the world. The US also has the worlds highest 7 year cancer survival rate – or it did pre-covid.

My point is that people with fatal health problems in the US live to their full life expectance despite their problems.
EXCEPT they are far more vulnerable to covid.

It would be really helpful oif those of you on the left actually learned to do basic math.

Then we would not have these stupid papers from the Lancet and idiots like you citing them.

  14. Those who seek to determine the ‘origin of the Covid virus’ either as coming form an animal, a lab, or as a spontaneous eruption all agree on a similar and erroneous reading of the Covid Crisis. The argument is futile.

The research of Denis Rancourt and his many papers on Covid, demonstrate conclusively that there was no pandemic and there was no pathogenic contagious virus. This is the real and shocking outcome of detailed study of what has occurred and how it all evolved and developed over the last five years. This requires a rethinking of disease, the Medical Industrial Complex and Big Pharma over all our live.

If you do not know of Denis Rancourt’s work, here is a recent interview in which he touches on many of these subjects, including lab leaks. The interview has been censored by Google’s YT, which tells us much.

He is an honest and brilliant researcher and a delightful and courageous person to boot.

      1. Denis, you conclude the abstract from this preprint cited here with:

“My hypothesis is that this proposed phenomenon is amply sufficient to cause epidemics, pandemics and seasonal mortality, always targeting the frail and sick, and that Covid was exactly such a case, completely caused by institutions and governments.”

To emphasise “… Covid was… completely caused by institutions and governments.”

There was no lab leak, there was no pandemic, there was no spreading pathogenic virus.

I encourage all who wish to be free from the oppressive control of medical tyranny to read your work and support it, if possible. The truth therein is truly liberating.

  15. One final thought… we, good Americans everywhere, are expected to believe that a party willing to pull out all possible stops to remove Donald Trump, short of arrest and public execution, would not also willingly unleash a political bioweapon on the public to retain power? Or that “gain of function” here is anything other than “bioweapon”? Or that the confluence of events is simply coincidental? Really?

    1. betuadollar: you have to be deeply delusional into MAGAverse to believe that the Democrat party “pull(ed) out all possible stops to remove Donald Trump” or that a “political bioweapon” was unleashed to “retain power”. The uncontroverted evidence is that COVID 19 started in 2019, while Trump was in office and spread all over the world thereafter, so Biden wasn’t in power. There is absolutely NO evidence of any conspiracy theory that Democrats somehow concocted a bioweapon and turned it loose on the world to make Trump look bad–he doesn’t need any help in that department. He did a lousy job pretending to be worthy of the US Presidency–that he cheated to get in the first place. Those of us who see him for what he is and always has been–a crook, cheater, liar, racist, misogynist, xenophobe and thief, know this. The rest of you are MAGAs who are blind to reality or those unfortunate souls who don’t understand the complexities of economics and actually believed that Trump could immediately bring down the price of groceries and housing. 78% of 2024 voters said the high cost of groceries was their primary issue–and Trump lied about being able to immediately bring down the cost sharply. Many are now questioning the wisdom of voting for him.

And, no, the Democrats didn’t conspire to “remove” Donald Trump–everything he was criminally charged with doing came after a grand jury indicted him, finding probable cause. He DID falsify business records to cover up affairs with a nude model and porn actress, after the “Access Hollywood” tape was revealed that had him bragging about getting away with grabbing womens genitals. He DID steal classified documents, lied about returning them, forced the NARA to get a search warrant, and then lied about “mentally declassifying” them. He DID try to get Secretaries of State to rig the vote counts by “finding” votes he didn’t receive. On the civil side, he DID defraud people who paid thousands of dollars for “Trump University”, resulting in a $25 million settlement to pay back the victims. He DID steal from his charitable foundation, for which he had to pay back the money and a fine and is banned from being involved with any charitable foundations for several years. He DID sexually assault E. Jean Carroll and defame her, and the judgment she received was just affirmed by the Court of Appeals. The Court’s ruling is instructive–they sharply criticized his lawyers for lacking any semblance of evidence to support their appeal. Trump DID falsify loan applications and financing statements by grossly exaggerating the value of his property–including tripling the square footage of his apartment at Trump Tower–something the trial judge found “shocking to the conscience”. He also did lie to his fans, telling them that he really won in 2020, even though he lost because the country was in shambles economically due to his utter incompetence, and we were in a recession with businesses, schools, restaurants, etc closed down and no leisure travel. He got the faithful to converge on Washington DC and to attack the Capitol, beat up Capitol Police, after he couldn’t bully Mike Pence into refusing to accept certified votes from the states, and one of his fans was killed trying to force her way into the Speaker’s Lobby. He also got fake electors to falsify Electoral College documents. Hundreds of his fans now have criminal records as a result. They did millions of dollars of damage to the Capitol. Democrats didn’t cause Trump to do any of these things, which are wrong, but delusional MAGAs like you believe him to be some kind of a victim.

And, betuadollar–people like you are not the “good Americans everywhere”—that’s more MAGA propaganda.

      1. Steady stream of dribble from you, I see. I have a question? Are you being paid by the word or the key stroke? You certainly go on and on and on ad nauseum. You lost, we won. Get over it.

        1. Who are “we” and “you” ? What happened in November is that gullible people believed the lie about bringing down the cost of groceries immediately, plus the racist and misogynistic lies put out by MAGA media. America lost. We are in big trouble now, and Turley is paid to help tone down the worries about the bad things that will come from Trump, his utter incompetence, and the stupid, unqualified and conflicted people he is shoving into agencies.

      2. you have to be deeply delusional into MAGAverse to believe that the Democrat party “pull(ed) out all possible stops to remove Donald Trump”

Would a police state fascist Soviet Democrat Borg pull out all the possible stops to commission an illegal campaign smear and call it “the Trump-Russia Dossier”?

Have that dossier illegally written (and illegally paid for that task) by a Russian and a British spy?

Would Bolshevik Barack, The Magical Mad Mulatto Marxist Clown then break through the glass ceiling to order his last two attorney generals and FBI Director to perjure themselves before FISA courts and utter false documents to those courts in order to do that?

Tell us none of that ever actually happened Gigi!

Oh: and that you’re emblematic of good American women – not a filthy stinking crack whore sent out here to stink out the joint from Hunter Biden’s crib.

Your centerfold in the Biden laptop is so disgusting that men are lining up to become Catholic monks taking a vow of chastity. It would take a rail car full of Viagra to counteract the effects of your centerfold.

      3. “the Democrats didn’t conspire to “remove” Donald Trump”
        Of course they did.
        These things are self evident.

“everything he was criminally charged with”
        Was not an actual crime.

Your conspiracy to commit lawfare is part of why Trump won.
Because you could not sell your nonsense to the jury of american voters.

Did Trump have sex with porn star ?
Does that even matter ? Private people having consensual sex with consenting adults is not a crime.
Doing so privately is not a crime.
Paying people to be quite about something that is not a crime is also NOT A CRIME.
Calling money paid to your lawyer legal expenses is “not a crime”.
Even under NY law falsifying business records REQUIRES that to be for the purpose of COVERING UP A CRIME – such as tax evasion.

Like sex with consenting adults, a persons financial records are PRIVATE – they are NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

If you bothered to be familiar with fundimental law – there is actually NO REQUIREMENT to have business records AT ALL.
We are obligated to pay our taxes, we are obligated to pay our creditors, We are obligated to do so correctly,
But we are actually NOT obligated to keep financial records at all.
        Not individually,
        Not as a business.
We do so because it is convenient – not because it is a legal requirement.

So YOUR claim regarding the NYC case is that Trump had sex with a porn star – which is legal.
Persuaded Micheal Cohen to pay the porn star a pitance for her silence – which is legal,
And then AFTER the election Trump reimbursed Cohen for his perfectly legal payments to the porn star for her silence – which is legal.
That he called the payments to the lawyer legal expenses – which is legal and correct.
That he paid the lawyer after the election and called the payments legal expenses – which they were because he was trying to hide that from the public – which is legal, to avoid losing an election – that was already over.

Sorry Gigi – YOU HAVE NOTHING.

All that you have succeded in doing is prove that YOU are corrupt.
You have also succeeded in proving that prosecutors in manhattan are corrupt, that judges in manhattan are corrupt and that juries in manhattan are corrupt.

You pulled this nonsense in an effort to cheat and win an election.
        And it backfired.

Now you have a mess that you can not get out of.

Judge Merchan is playing all kinds of games trying to avoid a final ruling on this case – because the MOMENT that he does, Trump will appeal and the whole thing will be dismissed quickly.

You ranted and raved that somehow Trump was gaming the system to delay everything until after the election.

Yet you managed to get your trial and get a jury to delive a verdict – over 6 months ago – that is almost as long as the entire rest of the case.
And here we have Merchan sitting on his hands.

He could not sentence before the election – because the moment he sentences – this will be appealed and it will be dismissed rapidly with scathing appellate opinions.
He can not dismiss – because that would expose how bad this case was from the start.

It is near certain this case will be dismissed on the grounds that the trial violated presidential immunity by presenting the testimony of presidential advisors about presidential conduct in the white house. Bragg presenting that testimony and Merchan allowing it was an “own goal” – but so much of this trial was corrupt.

During the Trial NYS highest court threw out Harvey Wiensteins rape convictions, because the prosecutor allowed testimony that was not relevant to the charges.
Most of the witnesses in the Manhattan case were not relevant to the charges.

But the biggest problem with this case – which is the underlying problem in most cases that get thrown out on legal “technicalities” – is that there was no actual crime.

In a perfect world this case would go to the supreme court on substance and SCOTUS would quickly dispatch the case using centries of caselaw going back atleast as far as blacks.

Fraud is a “property crime” – it REQUIRES actual tangible harm. It requires someone to be deprived of something that is theirs by right.

This is a very important legal principle.

        Why ?

We have you coming here day after day telling us that Trump lied, or Turley lied or Fox lied, or Trump supporters lied,

Basically you accuse everyone who you disagree with of lying.

You toss arround “lying” the way you toss arround racism, and fascism.

No one here has the slightest doubt that if you could you would arrest and jail everyone that you think has lied.

You are the poster person for why Lying is not a crime.

First and foremost – as we see with you, and with the manhattan jury people are notoriously bad at knowing what is actually a lie, and what is just a difference of opinion and even what is the truth.

YOU have personally gotten Covid wrong by the numbers. Everything you say about covid proved to be a lie. Maybe in spring of 2020 tahat was excusable.
But today we KNOW all those things are false and we have known it for many years.

We have known the collusion delusion was a lie – for more than twice as long.

You expect us to beleive a Manhattan prosecutor, judge and jury after we went through 4 years of DOJ and FBI and Special Counsels LYING about the collusion delusion.

The FBI KNEW in Oct 2016 that the steele Dossier was a fraud. And yet they used it as the sole probable cause for warrats and spying on the president.

SC Mueller KNEW within a few weeks of taking office that Vlinton had paid Steele to create the Dossier through Fussion GPS, and that Steele hired Danchenko who consulted with political hacks in the DNC looking for any derogatory rumours about Trump.

So that we are clear – from the START Mueller knew WHERE the steele dossier came from.
He KNEW it was a fabrication.

And yet he investigated and engaged in lawfare ANYWAY

If lying to the public was crime – half the 7th floor of the DBI and alot of DOJ would be in jail now.
YOU would be in jail now.

It is trivial to prove a long list of lies that you have told – about Trump, the 2016 election, the 2020 election – charlottesville, the Collusion delusion,
The Hunter Biden nonsense., Joe Bidens harrible no good very bad presidency, and on and on.

But lying is not and can not be made a crime.

Lying under oath is a crime.
Lying on your taxes is a crime.
Lying on the background check to purchase a gun is a crime.

Lying to steal from others what is theirs not yours (fraud) is a crime.

The real criminals are those who engaged in lawfare.

That would be the abuse of power to deprive another of their rights under color of law.

I expect that Bondi and Patel will have a field day prosecuting left wing nuts for that.

      4. “the Democrats didn’t conspire to “remove” Donald Trump”
        Of course they did.

“everything he was criminally charged with doing came after a grand jury indicted him, finding probable cause.”
That is what the USSR said about their star chamber Trials.

        “He DID falsify business records”
        Nope and not a crime.
“to cover up affairs with a nude model and porn actress”
Even if True – NONE OF YOUR DAM BUSINESS.

        “He DID steal classified documents”
Nope even Jack Smith specifically stated in his cases that Trump acquired the documents legally.
        This was Smith
s attempt to make an end run arround JW vs. NARA – by allowing that Trump obtained the records legally,
He could try to claim he was obligated to return them.
That is false as a matter of law and constitution MANY ways.

WaPo and NYT obtained the Pentagon Papers “legally” – they had no participation in Elsbergs theft of those documents.
But they WERE allowed to not only keep them, but publish them.

From the start this case was stupid.

“forced the NARA to get a search warrant,”
NARA did not and can not get a search warrant. The FBI did that, and the search warrant should have been denied.
NARA DELIBERATELY never went to court – because they would have lost.

        “lied about “mentally declassifying” them.”
The TDS is strong in this one.
No Trump can not mentally declassify documents. But he ABSOLUTELY can declassify them without NAY formal process just be removing them from a secure setting.

Regardless WH documents – classifified or Not that the president chooses to take with him are HIS property – classified or not.
Again actually Read JW v NARA

“The Court will grant the motion to dismiss pursuant to Rule 12(b)(1) because plaintiff’s claim is not redressable. NARA does not have the authority to designate materials as “Presidential records,” NARA does not have the tapes in question, and NARA lacks any right, duty, or means to seize control of them. In other words, there has been no showing that a remedy would be available to redress plaintiff’s alleged injury even if the Court agreed with plaintiff’s characterization of the materials. Since plaintiff is completely unable to identify anything the Court could order the agency to do that the agency has any power, much less, a mandatory duty, to do, the case must be dismissed.”

The PRA is only constitutional if the president gets to decide what is a personal record and what is a presidential record. That decision is UNREVIEWABLE.
That means NO COURT has the authority to decide that a president can or can not keep records from their presidency that they choose to.
This is true whether those records are classified or not.

The president can not “steal” classified records.

If a president while president did anything that appeared to constitute “stealling” that atually would declassify those records.

All of this is the left making faux law out of whole cloth.

It is unfortunate that this case is dead – because if it went to SCOTUS on the merits it would be shot down 9-0.

I would further note the appointment of Jack Smith as SC was an own goal failure.
It is near certain – again probably 9-0 that SCOTUS would have affirmed Judge Cannon’s opinion on Smith.

Personally I beleive all SC’s as currently constituted are unconstitutional.
But you COULD make a stretch case for Hurr Durham and Weis who were elevated from positions as US attorney’s and therefor WERE appointed by the President and confirmed by congress. Separately the SC law itself is just made up by the DOJ – it is NOT enacted by congress.

It is also completely stupid to beleive that any conflict of interest involving DOJ and/or the president is magically fixed by the AG appointing someone.
The prior independent counsel act – which though LESS of a problem was still likely unconstitutonal.
had the IC appointed by a 3 judge pannel and was budgeted by Congress.

“He DID try to get Secretaries of State to rig the vote counts by “finding” votes he didn’t receive.”
Nope, Are you going to jail Se. Casey or the Philadelphia Election commissioners for trying to “Find votes” for Casey ?

This call was recorded – o where in the call is there anything about CREATING.
Find means searching for and discovering something that exists. There is no meaning of find that includes CREATE.

“On the civil side, he DID defraud people who paid thousands of dollars for “Trump University”, resulting in a $25 million settlement to pay back the victims.”
Because you say so ? Settlements pretty much ALWAYS have no finding of blame attached.
Trump got a $hit judge and he settled for a pitance.

Trump U promissed students the secret to success.
That secret – is pretty much the same one as in Oprah’s “The Secret”
Persevere and work your ass off.
There is no fraud involved in telling people that.

I would note that people pay millions to people promoting “get rich quick schemes” – book stored are full of them.

Pretty much every single one of them WORKS.

        Except the quick part.

If you wish to be rich. Pick ANY “get rich quick scheme” that is not a pyramid or similar scheme, and work your ass off long enough and you will “get rich”.
You might fail several times along the way. But if you work hard enough and stick to it, you will get rich.

Most of us – even moderately rich people do NOT have the perseverance and hard work for that.
Musk as an example works 120 hour weeks, 52 weeks a year, that leaves just under 7 hours a day for eating, sleeping and relaxing.

Few people can do that. But then few people are Elon Musk.

” He DID steal from his charitable foundation”
Nope, more NY lawfare. The Trump foundation was a PRIVATE trust, which si radically different from a public charitable trust like the Clinton or Carter Foundation.
My mother setup a private trust for my father before she died. – it was HIS money, he could do whatever he wanted with it.
There are slightly more restrictions on Family Trusts like the Trump Trust, but it is not the same as the clinton foundation and this was just more silly left wing nut lawfare.

“for which he had to pay back the money”
Yes, he had to give his own money back to himself.

” banned from being involved with any charitable foundations for several years. ”
        Only in NY.

“He DID sexually assault E. Jean Carroll and defame her, and the judgment she received was just affirmed by the Court of Appeals.”
New Yorks courts are weirdly structured – this is not even close to a final decision, and the court is completely wrong.
The case never should have been allowed – NYS poked a narrow hole in the statute of limitations to allow a tiny number of cases – the change in law has constitutional bill of attainder problems. Regardless, if you really think that NAY civil judgement over claims with ZERO evidence 25+ years ago by a nut job are going to survive all the way to the supreme court your nuts.

No sane person beleives Carroll. She has accused practicaly every man she has ever met of Rape – EXCEPT Trump, she waited until late in his presidency AFTER her tell all book that accused everyone EXCEPT trump, Then she made up this story.

This is the most vile form of lawfare, and I highly doubt the courts will uphold it in the long run.
Regardless, the NY Court of appeals verdict was expected – they are just a speed bump to getting top a real court.

” The Court’s ruling is instructive–they sharply criticized his lawyers for lacking any semblance of evidence to support their appeal.”
That is called evidence of Judicial bias.
There is no case here. Carrol can not even identify what year this took place.

“Trump DID falsify loan applications and financing statements by grossly exaggerating the value of his property–including tripling the square footage of his apartment at Trump ”
Nope, and not the business of the courts, and again the james case is so bad it has FEDERAL constitutional problems.

The NYS law that allows Judges to hear cases like this without a jury is specifically because the cases MUST be deminimus – they CAN NOT have significant amounts in controlversy.
Otherwise the case must be heard by a real court with a real jury.

        Amendment VII
In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved

        Judge enmoron “shocks the conscious.\”

All the NY cases are complete garbage that never should have seen the inside of a court.

In this case – the Judge FORGETS the 2 millenia old ABSOLUTE rule of law “Caveat Emptor”.

Put simply “due dilligence” is the responsibility of the buyer.

One of my businesses specifically does “due dilligence”

  16. The Wuhan lab never worked on the Covid virus. The closest was some other species of virus. The US always wanted to blame China, but there was no good evidence for a lab leak. The US even made up “evidence of 3 sick Wuhan lab workers”, but it looked like faked evidence.

    1. This post was clearly written by a wu mao auxiliary (usually unpaid Chinese nationals fired up with jingoism every time they read anything the slightest bit damaging or critical of China). In this case the article isn’t even about China or the CCP or the virus. Just the Democrat/Left effort to censor and how our government needs to do better.

But the irregular wu maos just can’t help themselves. Though this chap should have let discretion be the better part of valor, as his rebuttal to the article consists of nothing but lies.

      1) The Wuhan lab *did* in fact work on bat coronaviruses.

Dr Ralph Baric taught Shi Zengli the techniques to do GoF research and it is well documented that she traipsed around in caves collecting many bat coronavirus samples.

The Eco-Health Alliance led by Dr Peter Dasak circulated GoF proposals on bar coronaviruses at Wuhan and contributed funding.

      2) Did the “U.S. always want to blame China”? This assertion suffers from the defect of personifying a large multifarious country with people of all sorts of views and persuasions as having human emotions, as though it can “want” something. In fact some people in the US may have wanted to blame China. But the article shows that the official position of the Biden administration and the U.S. intelligence community, along with the legacy media and social networks, was to excuse China and to cast doubt on the lab origin theory, to the point that they engaged in an extensive censorship and ostracization effort. As the article notes, many even called it “racist” to consider the possibility.

But more to the point, the people who “wanted to blame China” have the conspicuous advantage of being correct. That is, whether anyone wants to blame China or not, China is to blame. And it is to blame even in the most charitable version of events: it delayed informing the rest of the world about the breakout, it allowed flights out of China but not inside China, it vacuumed up PPE around the world before other countries knew what they were dealing with (because China lied), it still stonewalls investigators, it still refuses to turn over all the data, it still refuses to make scientists and other Chinese nationals available for interview.

That’s the potted history that includes well-documented facts that even the CCP admits.

      3) Did the U.S. “make up evidence of 3 sick [Wuhan] workers”?

Well, I suggest we can clear that up immediately if the CCP will turn over the undoctored work records from the lab. It should release all work logs from the facility, security camera footage, scientific data, etc—after all, per the CCP assertion, nothing internationally illegal, nor related to Covid occurred there, nor were biohazard protocols lax, and nor did anyone get sick from respiratory illnesses.

All that should be fairly easy to demonstrate if all records are released. But of course the CCP has never released that data, nor will it ever willingly release it, because it directly implicates China in the deaths of 10 million people, the sickening of hundreds of millions more, the devastation of the world economy, and an extensive coverup to hide the truth, which has occurred even as China has sought to capitalize economically on the pandemic, instead of getting on its face and kowtowing to the rest of the world for the horror it unleashed.

Now, in this post I have only responded to the weak, pathetic dissimulations offered by our honorary wu mao commenter here. But anyone truly interested in the specifics of Covid now has various resources available to peruse. I suggest the lynchpin of your inquiries should be the word ‘furin’. Unfortunately, because many Western scientific institutions have been co-opted by Chinese money, they have been reticent to state forthrightly what is now evident to common sense:

Covid-19 was created in the Wuhan institute of Virology, and was released (one way or another) into nature by individuals associated with WIV. Thus the Chinese government is directly responsible, through foolhardy research done under inadequate biosafety, for the deaths of millions of people around the world—so far. Only the future knows the grim tally that will attach to its ignominy.

      1. “I suggest the lynchpin of your inquiries should be the word ‘furin’. Unfortunately, because many Western scientific institutions have been co-opted by Chinese money.” For all your long winded “proof” of a lab leak, you can’t ind any evidence because the scientist have been bought, and you are left to believe in the politicians. WEAK!

  17. Man, what a bummer. The Federal appeals court said you can’t defame a person you sexually abused.

Bummer for the master grifter trump.

    1. LIVINGSTON ET AL. SUBJECTIVELY UPHOLD ON POLITICAL PARTIALITY, ENTIRELY WITHOUT EVIDENCE:

No accurate year, no witnesses, no security video, no evidence, no police report, no rape kit, etc…24 years after E. Jean Carroll’s imaginary event.

Only New York liberalism and the fairly tales of complicit co-conspirators.

      More of the Bush RINOism.

      Where are the WMDs, George?

        1. Against conservative politicians in New York?

          Absolutely.

All trials against conservatives in New York should enjoy an automatic venue change to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

          1. Libby Montana and Kalispell would be equally awesome trial locations. Newcastle Wyoming is another option.

The flyfishing is better, for one thing. The number of personal sidearms on site would make the Secret Service redundant.

        2. A jury found in her favor. You have a problem with jury trials?

You have a problem with SCOTUS throwing out Jack Smith’s previous conviction of the most likely candidate to beat Obama in the 2012 election?

What are the chances you’d bet your welfare checks against these courts and their decisions surviving appeal once they move outside of, and are no longer protected by the state of New York?

Never mind: you don’t have the balls to post with a username – you’d never have the balls to back that cock holster of yours with your welfare checks.
