U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., is the latest Democratic politician to use rage rhetoric to rally voters despite an alarming increase in political violence on the left. Calling for an “uprising,” Wilson also lashed out at the Laken Riley Act.
Wilson was visiting the ICE Krome Detention Center in Miami and declared:
“So I’ve been giving out the phone numbers to the House of Representatives and to the Senate. It’s one number that number you call and you threaten it, and you say, this is wrong. This is not America. This is not what we stand for. We need a change. You have to do that. It’s going to take the people. We’ve done it.
We need the people. We needed an uprising where people are taking to the streets and the phones and writing letters. That’s what we need.”
She is not alone.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Cal.) said “We are here to fight back.” Sen. Cory Booker (D., NJ) called on citizens to “fight” and declared “We will rise up.”
Not to be outdone in the rage fest, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D., TX) yelled, “We are gonna be in your face, we are gonna be on your a–es, and we are going to make sure you understand what democracy looks like, and this ain’t it.”
Rep. LaMonica McIver (D., N.J.) added: “God d—it shut down the Senate!…WE ARE AT WAR!”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., called for Democrats to fight “in the streets.”
In my recent book, I discuss the role of rage rhetoric in our politics extending back to the very beginning of the Republic. The danger is that it can give a license to some for political violence, including those who claim that they are now triggered by everything from candidates to cars.
Wilson also lashed out at the Laken Riley Act and complained that:
“The Laken Riley Act has caused an increase in detainees, and these are people who have… you could have been here forever… walking across the street, jaywalking, or shoplifting, they will detain you and bring you right here.”
First, the Laken Riley Act was enacted to increase such arrests. It does not cover jaywalking. The highly popular law allows the detention of illegal immigrants accused of theft-related crimes, assaulting a police officer, or a crime that results in death or serious bodily injury, including drunk driving. Twelve Democratic senators voted for the Act.
Yes, we must trake to the Streets and commit acts of unspeakable violence, arson, and mass mayhem so that the seriousness of the threat to our Democracy is too strong to ignore!!! We must free our sacred, esteemed, and holy Political Prisoners: Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan, Maryland Illegal Alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia, Health Insurance Adjuster Luigi Mangione, and Hamas Humanitarian Mahmoud Khalil!!!
They are being held captive by the Trump Gestapo!!!
Justice for Dugan, Garcia, Mangione, and Khalil!!! Only THEY can save and restore America from Fascism!!!
are you nucking futz?
No. I am merely a good Democrat. I was at a Media Matters meeting the other day, and this is our official platform for the mid-year elections.
I just thought of something. In all of these words shouted by these leftist politicians there is one phrase that is missing. The phrase is “go and peacefully protest.” This was a phrase spoken by Donald Trump but you find it conspicuously missing from the rhetoric coming from the left. It doesn’t take a genius to put it together that what they mean is go and riot, steal, burn and murder in the streets. Over the top you say? Let me remind you that the Democratic candidate for president said that the riots should continue and promoted a fund to bail out the rioters, thieves, arsonists, and killers. Just because they stop short of calling for the outright killing of their political opponents doesn’t excuse the fact that they have encouraged the “mostly peaceful protests” in the past. You can bet your sweet bippy that their constituents are hearing them loud and clear and our waiting for the final orders.
TiT,
Good point. The majority of Democrats think killing President Trump is justified. The majority of Democrats think violence is acceptable if it means they get their way. They cheer on a person who stalked and planned on killing a CEO. They cheer on terrorists and threaten Jews. They are evil.
What I am perplexed by is Jonathan Turley‘s consistent and ill placed comparison of rage rhetoric on both sides. Can you please point to any person on the right or right of center calling for or inciting violence to the level of the Democrats please!
You could search that question yourself if you weren’t asking it rhetorically. Here’s a suggested search term: “2A”.
The most common call to violence posted on the right appeals to use of firearms as an expression of political frustration. Also, anonymous death threats are being sent to the Judges who are impeding Exec. Orders. These are sent anonymously, so you won’t find out names until the FBI cracks those cases. I’d guess that fewer than 1/1000 anonymous death threats are ever solved and prosecuted. The FBI’s approach to “doing something” is to have you fill out an online form that will just sit there ignored.
#. File 13. It’s a good cop bad cop scenario.
Anonymous, please refer us to any threats to use firearms posted on this blog. The answer is you can’t. Considering death threats made against judges, not one time on this blog have I read your condemnation of death threats made against Judge Kavanaugh. Where was your outrage then? What is sad is that you believe the things that you are saying are true.
TiT,
The last thing any sane, normal and rational person wants to see is violence in the streets. But the Democrats keep pushing for it with their violent hate and rage rhetoric. They keep inciting violence while claiming they are the saviors of democracy. They are the ones who call for censorship, authoritarian rule, that they are above the law by their actions. They seem to want a real shooting war. It is frightening how much they want violence.
Blaming both sides is a common technique to appear balanced in a statement of criticism. The speaker or writer seldom offers an example from the other side of a similar offense. Like you, I find it irritating as well.
Prof. Turley,
So long as the speech of protestors politicians, people does not meet the very narrow requirements of incitement, or does not involve the few other forms of speech we have determined are not protected by the first amendment – let freedom ring.
Call for an uprising if you wish. Create political adds with bullseyes on your oponents.
It is all free speech.
If you do not like it – vote against those saying things you find offensive.
I am not worried about the over the top speech of either the democrats of republicans.
So long as we have no censorship – things will work out find.
Each of us is responsible for our own acts. You do not get to blame Trump or AOC or Waters, or whatever over the top politiion says stupid things.
Absolutely we should punish people for saying stupid things – we should not elect them as a start.
But the words of someone else do not unburden you with responsibility for your actions.
And those few people who are nuts, and engage in violence often attributing their violence to some political cause – were going to engage in violence regardless. Blaming the speech of those in the cause they choose to act violently on is wrong.
John
Create political adds with bullseyes on your oponents.
Who did that first and NO-one said zip.
What about defamation? Do you support the right on citizens and entities to protect their reputations from slanderous, false accusations?…through civil lawsuits? I think most of us draw the line of free speech at such destructive excesses. It wouldn’t be “just fine” for reputations to be destroyed with impunity….it would be a serious retreat from individual rights and freedoms.
Also, do you cede to adults outside the US who want to destroy America to “groom” your children with propaganda?
Do you cede that kind of free speech to your sworn enemies?
There are limits to free speech. It’s not as simple as you and JT make it out to be.
INDEPENDENT ACTIONS MAKE THE TRUMP WHITE HOUSE NERVOUS. THEY CAN BLOODY WELL GET USED TO IT.
Act independently all you wish.
The problems is acting lawlessly – and it does not matter whether you are a protestor, and illegal immigrant a congressmen or especially a judge.
When you act lawlessly you threaten all of society.
But private individuals are free to do whatever they please – lawfully.
In fact the entire point of modern republicanism is greater individual freedom and independent action and less government power.
A Milwaukee judge and a New Mexico judge just found that out. It is illegal to keep and shield illegal aliens.
So she is advocating a January 6th type event?
No, she wants February 1917
I have no problem with that. so long as the CP do not do something stupid like tear gas themselves and then protestors,
SO long as protestors are allowed to petition government, assemble, and speak freely. So long as proetesotrs are allowed to march peacefully through the capitol
I am perfectly fine with all that – left, right I do not care.
e core unconstitutional conduct of government.
And the Israelite slaves were out of Egypt before the ink was dry on their release papers—but then they possessed the capacity and acumen sufficient to the task.
Wearing a plasticized western hat does not make her a cowgirl. The fake pearls do not make her Barbara Bush. Standing in some FL woods does not mean she is an outdoorsman. But … opening her mouth does demonstrate she is a fool — unlike the 12 D senators who voted for the Laken Riley Act, 1 of whom was a co-sponsor.
Paraphrasing: having fake yellow hair with black roots doesn’t make you: blonde, sophisticated, intelligent, honest or qualified to be: the US Attorney General or press secretary. Heavily made up and wearing a bejeweled cross of Jesus (just like the one he died on for us—right?), doesn’t entitle you to call yourself a “Christian” when you constantly lie, fire government attorneys for honestly answering a judge’s questions, insult members of the press, and when your only qualification for the job is unquestioned loyalty to a sociopathic narcissist politician who lied to get into office.
Gotta love the U.S. AG, especially when she sachets her cute little pastel pant-suited butt up to the microphones to open her stupid mouth.
And of course you feel that Eric Holder wasn’t an Obama yes-man, or that Merrick Garland had a spine, so singling out Pam Bondi while not realizing we haven’t had an independent Attorney General in a long long long time —–
The left is just jealous that Prez Trump picked a good looking AG.
I remember the day as if it were just a few months ago. Bill Clinton’s Attorney General, Janet Reno, sent the US Marshalls on Good Friday, the holiest day of the year for Catholics, to a Cuban family’s home in Little Havana, Miami, before dawn. They raided the house, rifles at the ready to be discharged, and one US Marshall was photographed with his rifle pointed it in the face of Elian Gonzalez hiding in a bedroom closet with an adult holding him.
Not a single Democrat was angered, nor did they demand that the little boy not be deported back to Cuba. His mother and he fled Cuba in a boat, which capsized and she drowned, while his father had had nothing to do with him in Cuba before they fled. Democrats could not have cared less about detaining a boy his lost his mother at sea because she fled Communists, hoping for a better life for her son.
Thus it is comical and enlightening to know Democrats are now suddenly defending, hiding, rescuing and obstructing the Feds from deporting illegal immigrants. This Milwaukee Judge, if found guilty, should serve time behind bars. US Federal Judges like Boasberg and others likewise. Lest we forget, Biden’s FBI raided Mar-a-largo for no reason if only to show their Gestapo tactics and Biden’s Attorney General, Merrick Garland, Nazi bona fides. This after they threw Americans in Federal prisons without due process.
Wisconsin Democrats denounce arrest of Milwaukee judge in ICE case as some Republicans cheer
WASHINGTON – Top Wisconsin Democrats strongly denounced the arrest on Friday of a Milwaukee County judge for allegedly obstructing federal immigration enforcement efforts — labeling the arrest an overstep by the Trump administration, even as some Republicans in the state cheered the move.
…
Sen. Tammy Baldwin called the arrest “a gravely serious and drastic move” that “threatens to breach” the government’s constitutional separation of powers. And Rep. Gwen Moore, who represents Milwaukee, said the arrest had “all the hallmarks of overreach.”
Milwaukee Journal Sentinnel
She obviously lives in an alternate universe. We are getting their laser signals on our primitive machines. No other explanation…
#. Most likely she’s an AI generated image saying whatever would help to destroy the US. Man v. Machine. The only actual person’s capable of resisting are older Americans. Covid didn’t kill all of them.
I remember quite well.
Maybe our AG should have sent the storm—- troopers to the judges home to arrest her say say 4am.
Something the Biden gang did over & over.
But not a peep from the libs.
You neglected to mention that virtually the first act that Reno performed as US AG was to endorse and obtain authorization from Clinton for the slaughter by Federal agents of 73 men, women and children at Mt. Carmel, Texas.
Didn’t Reno do that under a different president? Consult the way back machine.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s personal cellphone number is turning up online on multiples sites, including social media and a fantasy sport site, according to a New York Times report.
It’s posing significant security fears.
The phone number is the same one that was used in the Signal chat in which Hegseth shared sensitive information about air strikes on the Houthis in Yemen.
“There’s zero chance that someone hasn’t already at least tried to install Pegasus or some other spyware on his phone,” Mike Casey, the former director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, said in an interview with the Times.
“If you use your phone for just ordinary daily activities, you are leaving a highly, highly visible digital pathway that even a moderately sophisticated person, let alone a nefarious actor, can follow,” said Glenn S. Gerstell, a former general counsel for the National Security Agency.
Adding, “It would be possible, with moderate difficulty, for someone to take over a phone in a surreptitious way once they had the number, assuming you clicked on something malicious.
When really sophisticated bad guys are involved, like Russia or China, phones can be infected even if you don’t click on anything.”
Basically we can now be 100% certain that both China and Russia have infiltrated Hegseth’s phone and more than likely used this as backdoor to secure Pentagon systems.
Hegseth is as complete moron. Everyone was telling Republicans he was not going to be an effective leader. Turns out it was true. First Signal, then a SECOND Signal scandal, and now this? Wow.
Biden’s senility would still be a better choice than this. At least he couldn’t have made a mess of things.
You mean like bugging out of Afghanistan leaving behind $85 BILLION dollars of war materiel. To put that into perspective, that is an amount greater than the GDP’s of 124 nations, including Afghanistan itself. The bugout left behind Afghans who had aided America and their families to suffer at the hands of the Taliban. We left behind our service dogs. People desperate to escape clung to planes as they took off before plunging to their deaths. The chaos at the airport created a perfect opportunity for an IED attack, costing the lives of 13 servicemen. In retaliation, we blew up a car full of innocent men, women and children. But, by all means, let’s hear more about the cellphone.
Thank you so much, Comrade General Secretary Glorious Dear Leader and Dictator for Life, She Gin Pinko!
Years ago, a friend of mine played a game during election season. There was a survey that had a person put what was important to them. My very liberal and left-leaning friend was surprised when the candidate that most likely matched his beliefs was a libertarian, Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico. It goes to show that there is a great deal of irrational bias and disconnect in the candidates (politicians) and their constituents. Personally, I think there is a smaller minority of very vocal activists that are fanning the flames of disruption on social media and “legacy” media outlets to drive an unhinged agenda that does not align with most fair minded citizens. They missed the mark and are doubling down.
Today, I drove all over the city and the price for a gallon of gasoline in stations that were not near the interstate was under $2.50 per gallon. In fact, the lowest was $2.44 cents. This would be the equivalent of 63 cents per gallon in 1980. There was an abundance of eggs in all the stores. I happened to check on the price today in a health food store (which is usually higher) and the cage free eggs started at $3.49. This is inflation adjusted to 90 cents per dozen in 1980.
I do not hear the dissenters squawking lately, “What about eggs? What about gas prices?”
In fact, I don’t hear them presenting fair-minded, cogent proposals for how to solve the massive problems facing this country and the world. Crickets. They only know how to spew hatred and criticism. I would rather one scratch their nails on a chalkboard or squeeze styrofoam than to hear their tripe.
No President in modern history, from WW2 onward and even before has ever had the political will to even try to take on asymmetrical trade barriers that has cost this nation tens of thousands of manufacturing facilities. I commend our President for trying. Would they rather cuddle up to wife beaters and illegal criminals? Would they rather the deficit grow even bigger than the 1,000,000,000,000 interest payment that has to be made every year? If nothing is done, this country and the whole world will go off the cliff.
Time will tell, but for the moment, these two tangible price points (gasoline and eggs) has dramatically improved, much to the relief of the consumer. I have shopped for groceries for the past 50 years both abroad and in the United States. Grocery prices are still holding their own even with the tariffs and in the past week, some of our local grocery stores have offered nice deals on food.
E.M.
Well said. All of our leftist friends predictions of doom have NOT come to to pass. What is really interesting is how they will ignore any of their dire predictions did NOT come to pass. Just like they ignore all the COVID hoax, the Russia Gate hoax and all the others. They are so ever pathetic and losers.
How marvelous!
Depends on the laser loop you’re in. Some pay 10.00 per dozen and others 1.99. The prices magically change from day to day.
“My very liberal and left-leaning friend was surprised when the candidate that most likely matched his beliefs was a libertarian, Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico.”
I would bet you $100 that your friend, after doing that research, went ahead and voted for the consensus Democratic candidate, whoever that was, rather than for Johnson (assuming that opportunity existed). Therein lies a huge problem.
This has to be the most absurdly hypocritical column Turley has ever produced.
If he did in fact write this nonsense, which may actually be the case, he is absolutely responding to instructions from his overlords at Fox and NY Post.
The comments he cites are nothing more than typical political rhetoric calling people to oppose what are believed to be repressive actions by the current administration.
Saying that people must rise up and fight is just political rhetoric that has been common place ever since politics began.
None of the comments call for physical violence.
Contrast this with Trump who had said there would be death and destruction if he was indicted in NY.
Trump has also called for reporters to be shot.
Trump repeatedly said that someone should beat the hell out of protesters at his rallies.
Georgia state senator Colton Moore has called for civil war.
Marjorie Taylor Greene has said Democrats should be shot like feral hogs.
Senator Tom Cotton has said protesters should be thrown off bridges.
These are just a very few examples of Republicans calling for physical violence.
your dishonest hyperbole is duly noted for the record, “Anonymous.”
What exactly is dishonest
What exactly is false.
Dear gigi.
Stoopid person.
I don’t see a lot of difference between what Trump says and what these Dems say. You just treat them differently.
That’s because you are a brainwashed member of a cult.
Republicans have a long record of calls to violence, a few examples of which I quote.
The comments Turley is complaining about are just typical politics rhetoric
No calls to physical violence
@Anonymous
No, but you remain the standard idiot troll. Perhaps we should start taking bets. Pfft.
Actually getting tired of you Leftists. Was there death and destruction when Trump was indicted? Any reporters shot? Any of the other” No to all of the above. I don’t even know if the comments were said. Has there been violence and calls for violence by the Left? Yes. Maybe taking it to the streets is how to end it. You sound like a loon, and that scary because you’re okay with violence.
You are deliberately obfuscating and trying to mislead.
I never said Trump and the other Republicans committed violence.
They explicitly ADVOCATED physical violence.
The comments Turley complains about are nothing more than typical political rhetoric calling on people to rise up and fight against the policies of the current administration. They do not advocate actual physical violence against other people.
Your comment, ” Maybe taking it to the streets is how to end it”, makes it seem that you are also advocating for physical violence.
I am not aware of anyone on the left advocating for explicit physical violence
^^^georgie boy (noticeably absent along with gigi today…hmmmm)
Bless your heart. You are going to be OK. Try to remain calm. Focus on the things you can control. Always try your best. Be kind to others and especially those in need. That’s all you have to do. Keep your head straight and chin up.
Anonymous – you write: “Contrast this with Trump who had said there would be death and destruction if he was indicted in NY.” Even if this is true, it is not “calling for physical violence”.
edwardmahl
Then how would you characterize that statement about death and destruction?
Trump calling for reporters to be shot is definitely calling for physical violence.
Trump telling followers to beat the hell out of protesters at his rallies is a call to physical violence.
Marjorie Taylor Greene calling for Democrats to be shot like feral hogs is calling for physical violence.
Tom Cotton calling for protesters to be thrown off bridges is a call to physical violence.
Don’t get cute and try to dismiss all these other instances of calls to physical violence on the basis that Trump really didn’t actually mean to call for death and destruction in one instance.
Anonymous- you don’t source your accusations. When checked, the accusations are usually half-baked.
I looked up your accusation that Trump “called for reporters to be shot.” You apparently refer to a comment he made at rally in Pennsylvania in 2024, where he said that his podium was protected on one side by bullet-proof glass, but that on the other side, only the press pool stood between him and another shooting. He said that a shooter from that side would need “go through” the press pool and that would be OK with him. He is quoted:
‘“I have this piece of glass here,” he said. “But all we have really over here is the fake news. And to get me, somebody would have to shoot through the fake news. And I don’t mind that so much.”’ https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-talks-reporters-being-shot-125102835.html?fr=yhssrp_catchall
No rational person would interpret these remarks as “calling for” reporters to be shot. It is understandable if he wanted the reporters to feel fear. Trump had recently escaped having his head blown off, and he probably blamed many of the reporters present, with justification, with creating an atmosphere where someone would want to assassinate him.
“ This has to be the most absurdly hypocritical column Turley has ever produced.”
Turley loves to spread his own flavor of rage rhetoric among the MAGA hordes to…well…enrage them further. It truly is hypocritical.
These kinds of columns are just distractions. Distractions from the disaster that is the Trump administration. Trump is lying about making deals with countries he won’t name. He’s lying. He’s already thinking of backing off the tariffs on China.
Trump’s poll numbers are tanking, he’s losing court battles, and now his AEA policy seems to have hit a snag in court. So much failure and very little progress to show for it.
George – Trump remains more popular than any other republican.
More popular than any other democrat.
More popular than the republican party
more popular than the democratic party
More popular than the courts.
More popular than the press.
Regardless I do not see Trump “tanking” in p[olls – but even if he was,
what matters is not todays polls, but whether his actions as president succeed.
Inevitably he will be more popular than today or less popular than today based on what he accomplishes.
Not based on some lunatic nonsense of democrats engaging in a highly unpopular “uprising”.
Bringing Trump down a few points – by bringing your own public support below 20% is not a victory.
it is not even a future.
The democratic party is extremely unpopular – and in the midst of a civil war.
It does not matter who wins that civil war – because the winner will be control the rump of the democratic party – everyone else will have walked away.
“Trump is lying about making deals with countries he won’t name.”
Leaders from countries all over the world have PUBLICLY stated they are looking to make a deal.
No these deals are not “made” – they are being MADE as we speak.
Those deal MAY happen, or Trump may reinstate full tarriffs, or he may “backdown”
and the country – not idiots like you will judge based on what actually happens – not idiotic fact free rumors started by lunatics like you.
What claims about Trump have you EVER been right about ?
Few pay much attention to you.
You lie way to much.
Here you are gloating about Disasters that have not and probably will not happen.
That is really kind of stupid.
“He’s already thinking of backing off the tariffs on China.”
Correct – if China negotiates. That is not news. That has been true from day one.
“Trump’s poll numbers are tanking”
They are better than pretty much everyone else.
“he’s losing court battles”
Some – but he has not lost a single FINAL court battle, and he HAS won several FINAL battles.
In many cases he is losing in new courts battles he already won in other courts.
Only the lunitic left things that judicial decisions that have already been found nonsense are going to hold up in a new court.
Eventually these things are going to be decided on the actual law and the merits – and your done.
This lawfare is a stupid losing strategy.
Lets pretend that you actually manage to win.
That you rpevent the deportation of TdA members that you Force Trump to bring back MS13 members already been deported.
That you completely stop deportations.
Do you really think the 80% of this country that wants anyone who is here illegally, for less than 10 years, deported – even if they have a family, pay taxes, and have committed no crime – do you think they are going to reward you at the polls ?
Do you really think the super majorities that think the federal government is bloated and wasteful, and fraudulent are going to cheer when you force funding of Trans balets in Columbia ?
Those of you on the left are in a LOSE-LOSE position.
That is why democrats lose 2-4 pts for every point they take from Trump.
“now his AEA policy seems to have hit a snag in court.”
The AEA is not a policy – it is a law. If you do not like the law repeal it.
“So much failure and very little progress to show for it.”
Actually there has been a great deal of progrss.
YOU ranted about the cost of eggs – the cost of eggs is down.
The cost of gas is down.
The rate of inflation is declining.
Consumer confidence is actually rising.
The number of new hires is increasing – and they are NOT mostly government jobs or illegal aliens.
The Tariffs are bringing in a great deal of money that is reducing the deficit.
Peace negotiations in Ukraine and Israel are rocky – but they are taking place.
Negotiations to end Iran as a nuclear threat are taking place – while these may NOT be successful,
they are atleast happening.
NONE of the above was happening under Biden.
Republicans have passed a budget – it is not a really good budget, but it is an improvement over Biden,
and it means that a great deal more can be done under reconcilliation with a simple majority.
Despite left wing lawfare a great deal has been accomplished.
A number of left wing nuts and neocons have been purged from the govermment – permanently.
If Trump loses everysingle legal battle – the left is near certain to face a huge political backlash in 2026.
If Trump wins half of them – this country will be significantly transformed.
But it is likely that ultimately he will win all of them.
I would further note – that in Trump’s first term you ranted that Trump’s lawyers were not prepared.
But it is those on the left today and even the judges that are totally unprepared and making false claims.
Garcia WAS found by multiple courts using LOTS of evidence to be and MS13 member – and he dropped appeals so those decisions are final.
Gargia WAS arrested with multiple other MS13 members and found holding rolls of cash from drug deals.
Garcia WAS stopped and found with 8 other illegals in the car with him being transported from TX to Baltimore.
A Car owned by an MS13 member.
Garcia has multiple PFA’s for beating his wife.
And if just yeasterday we did not learn from the PLANTIFF’s own filings – that there is no order baring Garcia’s deportation to El Salvador.
The order that Trump allegedly violated – barred deporting Garcia to GUATEMALA – where he family was presiding in 2019.
And that is just one of the myriads of legal and factual mistakes that left wing nut lawyers and judges are making.
John Say,
Great comment and what a way to own the slow and dumb one!
“The Tariffs are bringing in a great deal of money . . .”
From whom? Who is being forced to pay for those tariffs?
You and others keep trying to evade that critical issue.
Sam, the only one evading the questions is you. If someone responds to why you are wrong, you never make an attempt to correct the record. Your ideas are partially write but partially right in the world of logic is being wrong.
Is two judges being arrested for destruciton of evidence, obstruction of justive and providing TdA members with illegal assault weapons your idea of winning ?
https://youtu.be/pHXo18bFo64
John
I just wished ICE had gone to the judges house at 4am to arrest her with MSN waiting outside, like Biden did over and over.
That would have been a hoot!
Trump, January 6, 2021 “We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
Trump pardoned 169 of his supporters who pled guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers at our nation’s Capitol on the day Congress certified Biden’s Electoral College victory. Over 80 US Capitol police were assaulted along with more than 60 officers from the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department.
Always enjoy Jonathan Turley’s unique perspective on rage rhetoric used to rally voters.
“I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
– Real 2020 President Donald J. Trump
___________________________________________
And the Biden Regime, including Security Officials, formally censored and suppressed the Hunter Biden Laptop story within days of the election, hid Biden’s dementia reality from the public and MSM, and hid the candidate in the basement, etc.
Anonymous – You state: “Over 80 US Capitol police were assaulted along with more than 60 officers from the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department.” Can you source that statement?
edwardmahl,
And compare that to the assault on the WH, where the SS had to move President Trump to a secure bunker as far-left wing leftists assaulted both the PD and SS.
In June 2020, the White house was stormed. Far more secret service, park police and metropolitian police were assaulted – many very seriously.
The WHitehouse is NOY a government forumn for free speech – the capital is.
There was arson and destruction of property. Rocks were thrown at police as well as frozen water bottles.
Over 100 people were arrested – many charged with assaulting police.
They were bailed out, and charges were dropped – because they were engaged in political protest.
None were pardoned – because the left wing nuts that run DC and even DOJ under Trump did not prosecute.
When Trump supporters are burning churches, throwing rocks, taking axes to the doors of senators, burning cars, throwing molatov cocktails, raping other protestors, looting, nmurdering police officers, attempting to blind police officers with lasers, extorting money for local businesses. Shooting fireworks at police buring down police stations and federal courthouses,
THEN maybe the rest of us will pay the slightest attention to your allegations of political violence ont he right.
The FACT is the LEFT completely owns political violence.
Nothing that happened on J6 is within an order of magnitude of ONE of the hundreds of riots you have started.
We need to go to the way back machine and recall this prophetic statement: We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America. Since 2008, I’ve had these nagging questions; who is “we” and transformed into what? And I believe we have the answer. He transformed the entire political landscape by turning the Democratic party into a Marxist death cult, which in turn created their natural enemy now known as the America First Republican party. The bigger problem is not the front-facing political actors posing in front of the cameras everyday. It’s the bad actors that were embedded into our institutions leading up to Obama’s tenure. Now my nagging questions are 1. Will SCOTUS restore the balance of power by ending judicial activism at the lower courts? 2. Will Congress pass legislation that codifies President Trump’s EO’s?
You’re an optimist, Olly. It’s ping pong politics. The democrats have it easy. Just tear up, destroy whatever is built unless it’s the grift in their area code.
Hat lady? Ever had a neighbor with a barking dog? It never shuts up until it drives you crazy. Wilson is nothing more than a peon disturbing the peace with her yapping night and day. They never shut up. Same with all of them. Barking yapping, arms waving, no leashes running in the street.
Who is “we?”
Those “we” are the direct and mortal enemies of the American Thesis of Freedom and Self-Reliance, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, actual Americans, and America.

@Anonymous
Not in 2025, when this their job, like someone else would report to Starbuck’s or McDonald’s everyday. And not in the era where they purposely game the comments to make it seem like they are the salient ones. Sorry, ignoring isn’t going to do the trick anymore, sad though it may be, and it is.
@Dennis
You’d think we’d learn from history that trolling is abjectly stupid, but here we are. Everyone know you are comment bumping and bombing to try to make it look like you hold a majority opinion for casual viewers, so very tired. Give it a rest, George. This sh*t don’t fly anymore. MOST of us here think you are a clown. The only thing more pathetic is the anonymous tool that thinks hashtags do anything whatsoever on WordPress. If this is the best the troll farms have to offer now, I think we are really ok. Go feed the pigeons.
James – I never read McInliar’s comments, and rarely read George’s. They have proven over and over that they are not good faith commenters. They just take oppositional stances to stir the pot and get paid more by their Communist taskmasters. If Professor Turley said it would be good if we found a cure for cancer, they would disagree.
My lament, which I have stated on a few occasions, is that we can’t get reasonable opposing views. A worthy adversary is just as much of a blessing as a worthy friend. On this blog at least, we are cursed by the lack of worthy adversaries.
OldManFromKS,
Well said and spot on.
Upstate – good to see you. I feel like your presence has been less frequent lately, but I’m glad it appears nothing is wrong.

OldManFromKS,
I was on family vacation last week. Had limited access to internet. But it was a good time!
….we can’t get reasonable opposing views. A worthy adversary is just as much of a blessing as a worthy friend.
I see Dennis/Wally/George/Gigi et al. as a very broken soul. This is why I have encouraged others to ignore his comments. Replying just feeds his dopamine fueled personality disorder.
A Catholic Deacon at my parish invited me to join the prison ministry he leads. I submitted my paperwork to the Virginia Dept of Corrections, went through an FBI background/prints processing, and attended DOC orientation for volunteers. This past Holy Saturday was my first time going. The facility is in the styx, and reminded me of the prison in the 1974 movie The Longest Yard with Burt Reynolds. Getting inside the prison was quite an ordeal: patted down, removed shoes, wanded, signing a log, answering questions, then going through several heavy metal bars prison gates with no personal items on my person – no ID, no cell phone, no car keys. As we walked down the old prison building steps, we finally stepped into the common area where the prisoners gather for community access: open bathrooms/showers, athletic area with BB court and pullup bars, prisoners laying one atop the other on cramped metal beds behind heavy metal bars. One correctional officer was seated at a desk with a rifle in hand and handcuffs hanging at their beltloop.
We walked across the floor, saw ourselves into the prison “program room” and just waited. The prisoners could enter the room as they saw fit, and my first thought was that they all looked like worth adversaries. These were not snowflakes or soyboy material, but rather fairly fit, muscular, tattooed dudes, wearing tank tops and blue prison pants, and whatever shoes they had. El Salvador’s CECOT came to mind – those type of prisoners.
As they entered and shared their stories, one at a time, not having access to their prison records or reasons for being incarcerated, their length of incarceration, their personal history, it was clear that they were not my adversary but my brother. They were as broken as the Deacon and me. There go I by the grace of God was my thinking thereafter. We just happened to keep our life together whereas they cracked or gave in to their appetites. I look forward to continuing in the prison ministry.
Happily Pope Francis visited a prison outside the Vatican on Holy Saturday, as was his custom during Holy Week. He was my motivation.
Estovir – very interesting story and observations. Thanks for taking the time to share them.
-OMFK
Estovir,
Thank you for sharing that with us and that insight.
Estovir-that Prison in the ” Longest Yard” in 1974 was Reidsville State Prison in Georgia. Not far from Augusta where i was attending medical school at the time. Some of the Stars stayed in Augusta.
I did not see Bernadette Peters at my prison so maybe I should volunteer at the Reidsville prison?
Thanks OMFK & UpStateFarmer for your comment
Jonathan: Need any further proof that it’s not just Black members of Congress who are calling for an “uprising” against the DJT regime’s fascist dictatorship? At a “Human Rights Campaign” event this week Illinois Gov. Jay Pritzker told the audience: “Take to the streets, protest and show up at town halls…This is the moment for mass activities…jamb the phone lines in Congress”. The Gov. even gave out the 202 number to call Congress! Then there was mild mannered Al Gore who gave a speech at the start of SF’s Climate Week. But I saw a different Al Gore this week. He was loud and angry, comparing the DJT regime to the rise of Nazism in Germany.
From history we learn some valuable lessons. At the beginning of the Civil Rights movement it was Black people who led the “uprising” against racism and Jim Crow in the South. They were lynched, beaten and hit with water cannons. But they persisted in their non-violent protests. Eventually White people joined the movement and the mantra was “We Shall Overcome” throughout the nation. Then the SC then joined in by declaring segregation illegal and forced Pres. Eisenhower to integrate the schools in the South. But it took “rage” and an “uprising” to accomplish that.
So kudos to Rep. Frederica Wilson and the other Black members of Congress for sounding the alarm about DJT’s violations of human rights!
Don’t worry, Dennis. You need not worry. No one here is going to Rise Up and burn down or vandalize Turley’s office, despite the vast majority who dislike and smirk at your comments and Turley allows your posts.
No one ever said it was “just the blacks”, mate. You are the one seeing race in this. that would make you… what, exactly, in this case?
Regardless, we know it’s a lot of Democrats spewing, but the most vile and hateful rhetoric is coming from one certain subset of Democrat leaders.

And the Israelite slaves were out of Egypt before the ink was dry on their release papers, but then they possessed the capacity and acumen sufficient to the task, didn’t they?
bring it on. if the left resorts to violence those of us on the right are ready to fight if that is what it is gonna take to bring common sense to our nation
Common sense to this country? It isn’t possible. 2 options– hope to leave after death or find a temporary efuge here or there. Sorry
Buddha,
Over all, I hate the idea of a Civil War 2.0, as there will be people who will die without ear shot of a gun report taken in anger.
However, if the left really wants to go down this road, they will not like the outcome.

The Democrat party is weak, with internal divisions and internal fighting. As long as the Democrats have far leftists like AOC and Hogg in their party, you can expect to lose elections, more division, more infighting.
How marvelous!
Hogg.
Of all the morons they could pick. He has to be one of the most odd-balls of all time.
The Dems should lose snot-nosed, ageist Hogg.
Dennis – call for an uprising if you wish
While I have szero respect for most of the people you idolize – all are free to call for an uprising.
What they are not free to do is engage in violence or abuse of power or lawfare to get what they want.
The ends do not justify the means – especially when the ends themselve – YOUR ends are bad.
Please do your damnedest, assure that we know EXACTLY who to blame
As to the nazi nonsense – if everyone is a nazi – no one is a nazi.
The fascists in this country are entirely on the left.

And here you are today – demanding more discrimination by race. more discrimination by sex.
You are the new Jim Crow.
No one is lynching you.
No one is turning water cannons on you.
But it is YOU that are engaging in arson, in violence, in lawlessness.
“We shall overcome” ….. YOU ?

The singular American failure is the judicial branch, with emphasis on the Supreme Court.
The gudicial branch enjoys no exhecutive power and is fully moebilized and engaged in a conspiricy to usurp and exercise exhecutive powwer, which is exclusively “vessted in a President.”

The legal establishment, judiciary, and academia are rising up against the asinine Trump regime. It’s about time. 😃
The radical and activist establishment, judiciary, and academia are trying and failing to do anything of substance other than put on full display their disdain for the rule of law, democracy and decency. That is why the Democrat party is polling so low even with their own party members. As long a they continue down this path, they can expect to lose elections.
How marvelous!
And now according to FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver AOC is the leading Democrat for presidential run in 2028. Yes, that same AOC who is touring the country in the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, while flying first class or on a private airplane. This would be the same AOC who has been deemed the most useless Congress person in Congress with her lack of getting anything passed or proposals submitted to Congress.
Yeah, but the idea is for the judicial branch to ensure that actions comport with law, such as when a foreign criminal illegally crosses a border and tells a colossal lie about needing “asylum” from the very government that facilitated his 25 years of life—not one, not one thousand, but 15 million—and the immensity of this subterfuge is simply to add 15 million voters to the Democrat (i.e., communist) party, as he wittingly and deliberately commits the egregious sins of bringing harm to others by coveting, bearing false witness, and stealing another’s country.
“The legal establishment, judiciary, and academia are rising up against the…
LAW!”

IFIFY
It is not the job of the judiciary to rise up. It is their duty to deal with legitimate cases and controversies brought to them by plantiffs with standing on matters they have jurisdiction over and to follow the law and constitution.
WE have over and over seen left wing nut judges violate every single aspect of that.
Those of you on the left rant that Trump is not king – that is correct – but he IS president.
And he IS empowered by law and constitution to do pretty much everything that the left is fighting.
Unlike Biden and Obama, Trump has NOT made up new powers or concocted law and constitution from thin air.
he is enforcing the laws we have.
If you are in the US illegally – the law requires you to be deported.
Those of you on the left who do not like that – Change the law. You had the oportunity from 2021-2022 when you controlled the house, the senate and the presidency.
Trump is following the law.
He is cutting wastefull, fraudulent and abusinve spending.
He is enforcing Title 9, he is enforcing the civil rights act – He is enforcing Martin Luther Kings edict to judge people not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character – an edict enshrined in the civil rights act.
He is reducing the staffing of a bloated federal govenrment.
He is placing the interests of the American people – before the whims of domestic and foreign elites., and weilding the awesome power of this country – not for advantage – but to be treated fairly by the rest of the world
AS individuals, as private lawyers – YOU are free to oppose all of this – even though the american people support most of it overwhelmingly.
You are free to challenge anything Trump does as president.
But as JUDGES – you are required to follow the law, the constitution, the cannons of judicial ethics and judicial procedure.
You rant about Due process, but you refuse to actually adhere to it.
Due process is not just about the rights of criminal defendants – which is NOT even an issue in any of these cases.
It is about the requirement to courts act according to the law, the constitution and the rules of judicial procedure – not make things up as they go.
You are free to think Trump is assinine – but the courts do not get to decide the wisdom of the law or constitution or the actions of the executive.
They are limited to deciding the constitutionality and legality of those actions.
Our president is not king.
Our judges are not president.
The constitution and the law constrain both. Judges unlike presidents are limited SOLELY to the constitutionality and legality of cases they have jurisdiction over and that are legitimately before them.
The judiciary does not get to create their own cases. Only congress can allege that the president is refusing to conform the executive to the directions or congress enacted as law. Others can challenge the executives only when a legal or constitutional right is infringed on.
