“You Do Not Deserve a Conversation”: OSU Student Trashes Conservative Student Table

We have another incident of a student trashing a conservative table while expressing absolute impunity to do so. The Young America’s Foundation (YAF) at Oklahoma State University had a table supporting traditional marriage when a student tossed their material and claimed the absolute right to vandalize opposing views on campus.

There were repeated attacks on the table as the YAF students were called “fascists.”

Notably, one of the students involved in the attacks insisted that only the government is prevented from trashing such tables and, as a private citizen, she had a right to do so.

The sense of license to do so has been drilled into these students by both educational and political figures. This is a face of rage.

The question is now what the university is going to do about it. The solution should be obvious: the student should be immediately suspended or expelled.

This type of political violence or vandalism should be anathema to an institution of higher education. This is not free speech, as the student claims. It is the denial of the exercise of free speech. The student has every right to set up her own table or protest the YAF. What she is not allowed to do is attack other students or their displays.

The UK has gone beyond parody in sentencing a man to 3 years in prison for possessing a recipe for gunpowder which, ‘experts’ claim is viable.

    https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/leeds-man-jailed-for-possessing-gunpowder-recipe

A similar claim was made for the Jan 6 ‘pipe bomps’ which were said to be ‘potentially’ viable–meaning, I suppose, that they were harmless pipes that would be bombs if someone put explosives in them. So would any other container.

For the benefit of UK ‘experts’ I need to say that recipes don’t explode. And as for possessing the recipe, anyone with a phone, tablet or computer has it at his fingertips because here it is on Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunpowder

I imagine it is on a gazillion other sites and in many basic history and chemistry books.

Meanwhile they cover up news of immigrants committing rapes and stabbings in UK communities.

No wonder the UK appears to be drifting to civil war. The government has gone mad.

Now if they prosecuted someone for having a recipe for haggis I might understand it.

    Mamdani’s Election

“Nobody knows what the outcomes will be.”

To the Left, causality is merely a suggestion. And history a trifle.

Mamdani’s socialist policies have a 100-year history of causing bloody oppression and abject poverty. But for the Left, who can know. Maybe this time, “somehow,” the smiling face of evil can actually deliver that promised cornucopia.

  4. If the University cares about upholding civility, this young woman will be given a choice of being expelled or penning an apology in writing to be published in the campus newspaper. Upholding norms is the topic of the day, and central to defining a healthy, functioning free-speech culture. If we don’t uphold unwritten norms of civility, we will alternatively become like pre-WWII Germany where militants radicalize and coarsen the public square’s atmospherics. The consequences don’t need explaining.

It’s a choice. It is being made right now every day, in your own mind the way you set your expectations. Will you self-regulate? Will you expect others to?

How will you respond in the face of incivility? Shrink back? Rage back? Or, counter with a positive exemplar while speaking clearly and directly?

  5. She’s correct that the freedom of speech relates only to government censorship, not to private censorship. As she said, “the government can’t tell you to shut up, but I can”. And the TPUSA guy is incorrect when he claims there’s some sort of law against “the heckler’s veto”, a term that he has misunderstood.

Where she’s clearly wrong is in the action she took. That’s not an exercise of her freedom of speech, it’s theft, vandalism, and littering, and there is no right to do those things.

    1. I can’t address this problem. Call me a bigot, biased, freaked out. I cringe. I can’t think when I see men dressed as women unless it’s clearly comedy. I just can’t. I was born that way. It’s immutable.
