Red Apple: Mamdani Appoints Official Who Called For The Seizure of Private Property

Last weekend, I wrote about New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani’s full-throated pledge to introduce New Yorkers to “the warmth of collectivism.” He proceeded to fulfill his pledge to govern as a die-hard socialist with the appointment of a new advocate for renters who has espoused communist policies favoring the seizure of private property. Cea Weaver, the new director of the Office to Protect Tenants, is the ultimate example of the young armchair communists coming out of our universities with little memory or understanding of past failures in socialist countries.

While the Administration just brought Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro to New York, Mamdani appears intent on bringing some of his policies to the Big Apple. The fact that he reduced a prosperous nation to an economic basket case seems to be little deterrent.

Weaver, 37, is an example of the shallow sloganeering that masquerades as policies in these circles. Notably, her commitment to communist doctrine does not appear to extend to defending them. She deleted many of her most extreme calls for the seizure of property and racist statements directed against white people.

Weaver has called for Americans to ‘impoverish the white middle-class’ and called homeownership “racist” while demanding the seizure of private property. The videos sound like a college coffee klatch of junior communists, part of what I have called the “radical chic” of higher education.

“I think the reality is, that for centuries we’ve really treated property as an individualized good and not a collective good…And transitioning to treating it as a collective good and towards a model of shared equity will require that we think about it differently and it will mean that families – especially white families, but some POC families who are homeowners as well – are going to have a different relationship to property than the one that we currently have.”

She has denounced homeownership as “a weapon of white supremacy.”

These views mirror past comments by Mamdani himself who has called for “seizing the means of production.”

Mamdani had to be aware of Weaver’s past comments, which include:

• calling “homeownership … a weapon of white supremacy masquerading as ‘wealth building’ public policy.”

• “improvish the white middle class. Homeownership is racist/failed public policy.”

• There is no such thing as a ‘good’ gentrified, only people who are actively working on projects to dismantle white supremacy and capitalism and people who aren’t.”

• “seize private property!”

• “elect more communists.”

• “this country built wealth for white people through genocide, slavery, stolen land & labor. white supremacy built the north and the south.”

• “endorse no white men in office platform.”

Imagine how the press would respond to a Republican nominee who called to vote against any black people or to elect fascists.

In my forthcoming book, I discuss this shift toward socialism as a new generation replicates the same failed policies that marked a long line of collectivist catastrophes. Other countries are throwing off the yoke of socialism and communism. Yet, Mamdani and his aides herald some of the same failed policies.

Months ago, as Mamdani also tried to scrub his social media, I wrote that he was a hardcore Marxist. Liberal pundits then objected and said that he really was just a ramped-up welfare liberal.

Mamdani and Weaver prove the truth of Maya Angelou’s warning that “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time”.

  1. “Eminent domain is an absolute necessity for a country. Without it, you wouldn’t have roads, you wouldn’t have hospitals, you wouldn’t have anything.”

    – King Moron

I have some extra pearls for you to clutch.

  2. To all the Chinese communist bots and trolls: we’re not buying the garbage you spew. You’re wasting your time. GFY, that would be time better spent.

  3. About 735 million people have died under capitalism in the United States.
This is many times more than Russia and China.

  4. Capitalism is killing millions of people every day
    whenever workers work for capitalists.
It is a slow motion death.
    Capitalism causes heart disease.

    1. Promoting communism which has only ever produced poverty and misery, and suggesting that it’s better than a system that has lifted literally billions of people out of grinding poverty. What kind of a freaking idiot are you?

  5. Dear Poof Turley,

A commie, you say! I’m not surprised .. . NYC is full of commies.

I’ve known good ones and bad ones, but I’m pretty sure Mamdani is what they call a ‘democratic socialist’, not unlike Bernie bro I think. .. hardly a threat to private property or free enterprise.

I’ll say this; Mamdani, and his stylish wife, are the best-dressed commies I’ve ever seen. That’s an Armani suit. .. not your usual Hugo Chavas olive-green drab tie-dyed.

It’s hard to be a good muck-raking conspiracy theorist these days . .. when the truth seems stranger than fiction.

*the president said that “some of his ideas are really the same ideas that I have.” At another point, he added that “we agree on a lot more than I would have thought. I want him to do a great job, and we’ll help him do a great job.”

    1. Mamdani’s wife wore borrowed/rented attire for the festivities, particularly identified were her designer boots, a loan from the maker on multiple prior occasions.

    1. Greenland is a vital national security issue for Trump. .. there are Russia and China ships all over the place right now.

      *something has to be done.

      1. There is no place in Russia that is more than 30 minutes from portable sunshine. Greenland is an interesting place that is almost entirely uninhabitable. As a monitoring station, there are at least 100 satellites overhead that can do a better job than any ground station.

Trump recalls 70 years ago when it was very important. Greenland hasn’t been very important for a while and is rapidly heading to slightly interesting.

      2. One of the most sensible things you’ve ever said. Those Russian and Chinese ships include the underwater kind that are nuclear powered and carry nuclear missiles. So, yeah, if one prefers life over death, Greenland may prove to be necessary. If one prefers death on ideological grounds, that is one’s choice but don’t take me with you to the grave. (Not “you” but “one”)

        1. I was being facetious. Russian and Chinese ships are not crawling over Greenland as Trump suggests. .. he’s delusional or crazy. Probably both.

*I’d rather be dead than Red.

          1. Not Greenland itself – which would be impossible since it’s land and not water – but the North Atlantic.

  6. New York Times Breaking News:
New York Governor Hochul Fears Trump Bringing Maduro To New York City For Trial Will Jeopardize Re-election Bid

Inside sources who wish to remain anonymous tell Times’ reporters the Governor fears Trump deliberately brought Maduro to New York for trial, hoping to further radicalize voters who elected Mayor Mandani.

Governor Hochul’s unannounced private phone call to Trump, asking that Mauro be taken instead to Florida for trial was not responded to. Hochul and her staff fear that resulting further Democrat radicalization will leave door open to Republican Elise Stefanik being elected next New York governor.

    1. Manureo runs a narco-state. Those cartels would require a fully armed military to take out. We know no one helped Manureo as he was arrested, oh, kidnapped. He’s not well liked.

  7. NYC is an amazing and unique place. I grew up in the nearby suburbs, went to law school there, lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn and worked in law enforcement.

I saw the best of New York, and, yes, the worst. I remember, however, the incredible feeling in New York City right after 9/11. Rather than being in the dumps and full of doubts, New Yorkers were moving ahead, getting things done and showing that nothing would defeat them. NYC has survived a lot over the decades. This silly little Communist is far from the worst it has faced.

My money is on NYC surviving and thriving in spite of “armchair Communists” and other assorted lightweights. It won’t be pretty and New Yorkers are in for a wild ride for the time being, but New Yorkers will still be living in the greatest city on the world when their silly little mayor is living on the trash heap of history along with the rest of his ilk.

  8. A moment in remembrance of the 58,150 men and women that died in Vietnam fighting Communism. It is unconscionable that this Bullsheeeeit is even being discussed in America.
Thank God above that we have a Constitution. These Communists will be unable to initiate any of this nonsense in America, totally unconstitutional.

Ask yourself, what would you do if someone like this Woke racist Tw_t showed up at your property with her stooge support and told you that you no longer owned it and it was now being confiscated for the collective.

My answer would be very short and very final.

      1. People like you opposed Mao, but he triumphed over them.

There is no shortage of people like you that will rush at the first opportunity to defend and support murderous communist dictators like Mao, Stalin, Maduro, Castro, etc.

What a triumph to gloat about and celebrate!

        1. Capitalists have made the hearts of tens of millions of workers explode like eggs in a microwave. Capitalism caused that to happen. That’s nothing to be proud of. You ought to be ashamed of yourself, supporting a system that takes the lives of hard working fathers, leaving children orphaned on Christmas. You monster!

          1. Is that you, Xi Jinping? Or is it you, Fidel Castro, from beyond the grave? Perhaps Daniel Ortega is commenting here, or even Nicolas Maduro from his jail cell, who knows? GFY

    1. The US sure beat communism in Vietnam. Right now communist Vietnam is a decent capitalist trading partner with the United States. This after the US flooded their backyards and farm fields with land mines, cancer causing chemicals, and the occasional setting people on fire to burn to death or be permanently scarred or maimed. And we did it so support France, who had so abused the Vietnamese that tossing them out to regain their freedom was then met with the US taking another whack at that pinata.

The only reason the US stayed so long was to avoid being the loser against such a tiny country. That’s what 58,150 Americans and hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese, Laotians, and Cambodians died for. American vanity.

  9. There is a mix of woke and socialist concepts in New York City, Seattle, and elsewhere afoot in our nation. It looks to this writer as an attempt to carpetbag the faith doctrine of original sin into politics. Framed as a sin of “whites” which I defy anybody to define. People of every skin tone of our human race are citizens of this federal republic, and people of every skin tone are effective leaders in every facet of our lives. These people on the left have come offering us the sleeves out of their vest, hoping we won’t notice that it’s a pitch to trade what we have for a theocracy of their own invention. I say no.

  10. Trump’ “press secretary” said Trump is considering options to take over Greenland, including “by force” which would, of course, violate our NATO treaty. Denmark offered to allow Trump to increase any military base or install whatever security measures he wants. Who cares what Mamdani does in New York? It’s all a diversion away from Trump and his violent flaunting of NATO treaties and the Constitution, plus a diversion away from the 5th anniversary of January 6th and the Epstein files.

    1. Most of us can walk and chew gum at the same time. Whatever is happening in DC is no excuse for ignoring the dangerous ideology being promoted in our largest city.

    2. Who cares what Mamdani does in New York? It’s all a diversion away from Trump

Not even a concern for the millions of New Yorker taxpayers who didn’t vote for commie Mandani, nor the white Americans who are property owners in New York who Mandani and this communist promised to racially profile and seize their property?

Is this an attempt to divert from communism in action? Or from the still missing Pelosi personally selected J6 Select Committee files that may have survived Pelosi and Hakeem Jeffries illegally destroying them?

J6 Committee Deleted Files, GOP House Committee Recovered 100, Cheny and Thompson Referred To DoJ For Criminal Investigation

  11. . No one wanted the mayor’s job except the man-child Zero Mamdami is the truth. No one really wants the governor’s job either as Elise Stefanik pulled out. The once great place is now akin to South Africa?

Keep federal money out and they’ll plant potatoes in Central Park. 4get about it and put effort into places that have a chance.

  12. Does DJT keep his word?

As reported by Deadline last month, Trump told reporters: “We have never had a president hosting the awards before. This is the first. I’m sure they’ll give me great reviews, right? You know, they’ll say he was horrible. He was terrible. It was a horrible situation. No, we’ll do fine.”

The president then went on to say that he has “watched some of the people that host. Jimmy Kimmel was horrible, and some of these people. If I can’t beat out Jimmy Kimmel in terms of talent, then I don’t think I should be president.”

Catch that last sentence? Will trump be true to his word and resign the presidency?

      1. He didn’t but after so many replications the poor little genes suffer damage and stupid happens. Science is constantly tracking trends in evolution. This looks like a major decline.

    1. Catch that last sentence? Will trump be true to his word and resign the presidency?

      Kimmel viewers 05 January 2025: 2,014,828 – 05 January 2026: 1,930,053 How’s that for a commie loss of monetizing viewers!!!!!!

Yup, caught that! Is Kimmel going to give up his show in shame that he has fewer supporters than Trump? Winner, winner, commie turkey dinner????

Do Kimmels fellow Biden commies hope they can sell that as Kimmel being a winner and this is all Trump failure?

You can justify that or run and hide as usual after your Daily Democrat Deflecting Dumps.

  13. Or maybe he should concern himself with sewer, water, and traffic lights and above all public safety. What arrogance.

Let’s stop calling him by euphemisms. He is a communist (so long as he doesn’t have to give up $$$ from any gain he has from is rising infamy.

  14. Everything we fought the Revolutionary War against. Rule by Tyrants. The few, make all others their chattel. Nathaniel Green proven correct “burn down New York, that is here all the Tories are”.
Will not stop until the fascia symbol is removed From House.

      1. And don’t deflect by reminding me that commie slavemasters kill their gulag inmates if they don’t produce enough.

  15. Home ownership racist? Tell that to the black BLM officials who grifted millions from donors to build their own private mansions and luxury homes in mostly or all white neighborhoods.
Unfortunately, Mamdani and friends may be able to seize private property and homes because of the SCOTUS decision of David Souter, Bush’s appointee, who said that eminent domain means that government can seize private property and give it away to companies or one assumes itself.

    1. There is no direct quote from David Souter specifically addressing the proposal to seize his own property through eminent domain, as he declined to comment on the matter.
However, Souter was one of the five justices in the 5–4 Supreme Court decision in Kelo v. City of New London (2005), which upheld the government’s power to seize private property for economic development under eminent domain.
His legal stance supported the interpretation that such takings could serve a “public use” as defined by the Fifth Amendment, particularly when promoting broader economic benefits.
While Souter did not publicly respond to the backlash—including the “Lost Liberty Hotel” proposal targeting his New Hampshire home—he consistently interpreted the Constitution in a way that aligned with this decision.

      1. The “Takings Clause” notwithstanding, the right to private property is absolute.

Only the owner may claim and exercise dominion over private property, including, but not limited to, setting rent, prices, and wages and hiring, firing, and directing employees.

American fundamental law strikes Madmani down with extreme prejudice and without delay.

Madmani is completely unconstitutional when he first denies the owners of private property the full and exclusive right to “claim and exercise” dominion, which must have been struck down over one hundred years ago.

The essence of America is freedom and private property, which were among the natural and God-given rights, freedoms, privileges, and immunities revealed and conferred upon Americans by the Constitution and Bill of Rights of the Founders in 1789, which are written in clear and understandable English requiring no “interpretation.”

The singular American failure is the judicial branch, with emphasis on the Supreme Court, which has allowed, enabled, and supported the incremental nullification of the absolute 5th Amendment right to private property since progressives commenced its destruction a la Karl Marx in the early 20th century.

    AI Overview

Few American officials circa 1910 explicitly advocated for the elimination of the absolute right to private property, as this concept is fundamental to the U.S. Constitution and legal tradition. However, officials associated with the Progressive Movement at the time did advocate for significant government regulation of property rights to promote the public welfare, a departure from the earlier, more absolutist, laissez-faire views.

    Key Figures and their Views

Theodore Roosevelt: As a leading Progressive, he did not seek to eliminate private property, but strongly advocated for government to be the “steward of the public welfare” and regulate corporations and property use to serve social ends. In a 1910 speech, he articulated the New Nationalism philosophy which implied that individual property rights were secondary to the needs of society as a whole, thereby challenging their absolute nature.

Herbert Croly: While an intellectual rather than an elected official at the time, his influential 1909 book The Promise of American Life argued that “Jeffersonian individualism” and its emphasis on absolute property rights needed to be abandoned in the modern industrial state for the greater social good. His ideas heavily influenced Progressive officials.

Woodrow Wilson: As a Progressive leader who became president in 1912, Wilson implemented a vigorous reform agenda that expanded federal power to regulate the economy and aspects of property use, reflecting the Progressive belief that rights could be modified as social circumstances required.

Victor Berger: A prominent figure who offers an alternative perspective, Berger was the first Socialist member of Congress, elected in 1910. Socialists generally advocated for the collective ownership of the means of production, which implicitly challenges the absolute right to private property. While within the government, his views represented a more radical fringe compared to the mainstream Progressive movement, which focused on regulation rather than outright abolition.

Really: what do you think you are contributing with the constant, daily, ‘AI overviews’? Do you have any original thoughts? Are you capable of them? Are you even still a person?

      1. James,
That is another thing I just scroll past. I do not really care what AI “thinks.”

        1. @Upstate

Same here, just one of those things I guess I thought would be good to refute on record.

        2. Upstate, that’s odd. Whenever I see Anonymous before a posting, I don’t take the time to read it.

      2. Is that a factual refutation or an inane anxiety-derived deflection?

Do you expound a screed at the sun for its “constant, daily” risings?

You might attempt to prove that Americans have NOT been deprived of rights, freedoms, privileges, and immunities—stressing private property—since 1860, but then that’s impossible, isn’t it?
