One in Four Lawyers in Pakistan Now in Jail During Constitutional Crisis

Lawyers in Pakistan are leading the fight for democratic reforms with many beaten by police and a shocking one in four lawyers in prison. Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has destroyed the legal system in the cause of fighting “judicial activisim.” Judicial activism is any decision with which he disagrees with — a definition not unlike the one used by some of our own extremists.
