Socratic Sans Toga: Kansas Professor Under Review for Mooning Judges

Bill Shanahan, a professor at Fort Hays State University, is facing disciplinary measures after he dropped his pants and mooned judges at a debate event out of frustration with scoring of his team. The video below has become a popular item — outside of University administrators who are a bit ticked.

This appears to be a new technique for public appearances after a leading lawyer recently dropped his pants at a speech, click here.

In a comment from Fort Hays provost Larry Gould, the school stated “We’re sure that there’s probably some facts and information that’s just not available. I mean, you see a lot on the video, but we need to make sure everything is revealed before we take any action.”

While I tend to try to support fellow academics, I cannot imagine any fact that would transform this scene or explain the professor’s conduct. As a general rule, keeping one’s pants on during class is a minimal requirement (even though the Socratic technique began with togas).

Prof. Shanahan still provides better “rebuttal” than what I often see here.

Diogenes used to roam naked in the streets with a latern in search of an honest man. His ghost is rumored to be fleeing the whitehouse each night (and it doesn’t even go near the dick’s numerous bunkers)!
