Oklahoma Supreme Court Disbars Judge Over Use of Sex Device in Court

Former Oklahoma District Judge Donald Thompson, 61, has been disbarred by the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Thompson was convicted in June 2006 of using a “penis pump” in court under his robes and served prison time on that conviction.

Thompson ultimately served 20 months of a four-year term and has had to register as a sex offender.

This was by no means a certain result. Lawyers with felony convictions have been allowed to return to practice in some circumstances.

Am I reading this correctly? 4 years of “hard” time(I couldn’t resist) for masturbating under his robes? Wouldn’t it make more sense to just kick him off the bench. I guess I forgot that this is Oklahoma. I didn’t think you could become a sex offender when you are self gratifying yourself. There are alot of men that better not travel to Oklahoma.

Brings a new meaning to “may it please the court.”

    1L,
I am more worried about the court’s response to this question, ” May I approach the bench”?!!

Yea but I heard he was a real big prick.

Though to be fair, he did say being a judge enlarged him.
    :|

In fact he was known to have said on more than one occasion that nothing got his blood pumping like sitting on the bench.

Of course he claims the charges are a phallacy.

I have never laughed so hard at the legal system in my life! Who ever stated that the courts–and lawyers–are dull.

They apparently are dull, why else would he need something like that to stay awake and appear interested? The judges here just email back and forth to their clerks about which attorney’s flys are undone. I do kind of wonder what sort of cases he was hearing and if it helped or hurt his decisions. Or if any analysis was done. ;-)

Top marks on the puns, all.
