Anti-Illegal Alien Governor Confronted With Evidence That Grandparents Were Illegal Aliens

New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez took office in part based on her hard stance against illegal aliens. After being given 1930 Census records by reporters, however, she has now acknowledged that her grandparents illegally came to the USA from Mexico. In the meantime, another family member of President Obama has been arrested as an illegal alien.

The Republican Martinez led the fight to repeal what she has called “the dangerous practice” of granting driver’s licenses to undocumented migrants to “protect the people of New Mexico.”

Martinez’s acknowledged the new evidence on a radio show and admitted for the first time that “I know they arrived without documents, especially my father’s father.”

After riding out a controversy over the illegal status of his aunt (who was allowed to stay in the United States despite violating past orders), President Barack Obama has been informed that an uncle has been arrested as an illegal alien. To make matters worse, Obama Onyango, who also has a driver’s license, has a history of drunk driving. Obama’s uncle was released “quietly” from custody despite his illegal status and record.

While President Obama is hardly responsible for such relatives (particularly on the side of his father who effectively abandoned him as a child), these stories are likely to magnify the immigration debate. The White House seems to be embracing such a debate in an appeal to the Hispanic community, but I think this can only hurt Obama further in the polls.

  1. I had read these a while back…My response is s what….90 per cent of the folks who claim citizenship here were illegals at one time…and 100 percent of the folks here are sitting on stolen or taken land….

A story I found interesting is this:

Woman has to pay $1k for forced cavity search

A woman in the state of New Mexico is asking cops to cover her medical bill after she was ordered by the Metro Narcotics Agency of Las Cruces, NM to undergo a costly cavity search — at her own expense.

The woman, whose name is being withheld, was apprehended by authorities earlier this summer. Acting on “credible information from a reliable source,” Metro Sgt. Mike Alba obtained a search warrant from Magistrate Court to send the woman into Memorial Medical Center to undergo a forcible and thorough body cavity search.

Not only did the probe come up fruitless, however, but the woman was footed with a medical bill for $1,122 for something she never wanted or asked for. Attorney Michael Lilley is representing the woman and served the county a claim last week that they will be held responsible for the hospital fees, which he is calling “unlawful.”

  2. Wouldn’t Reagan’s amnesty have covered the grandparents (yes, even to 1930)? I don’t believe there was a back-date cutoff that applied.

  3. There’s nothing wrong or hypocritical about her stance at all.

It’s no longer 1930 and the situations are completely different.

My dad was in Mexico in the 1920s.

I am largely against illegal immigration today.

I’ll give rafflaw, OS, MS, et. al., your usual smirks that of course this is true of me.

But Professor Turley, I am sure you know why my father was in Mexico in the 1920s. MS, you may too.

And I’m against illegal immigration for the same reason that Paul Krugman is against illegal immigration.

Times change, the situation is dramatically different. There is nothing wrong at all with the New Mexico governor’s stance. It is in fact, the actual progressive stance of actual progressives.

  4. “she has now acknowledged that her grandparents illegally came to the USA from Mexico”

So! Other than personal embarassment, it should have no bearing on her position.

If I was sponsoring a Bill against rape, and found out that my grandfather had raped someone; do you think that would make me reconsider my position? Do you think that would somehow make me now think that rape is OK?

Both entries are a violation of the sovereign.

  5. To clear one thing up, that I left vague. The family rumor is that my grandmother was smuggled illegally into the US to give birth. Regardless of my dad’s story, as I point out there is nothing wrong with the Governor’s positions. It’s not even embarrassing to anyone that understands the concept of “time” and “apples and oranges” and “what hypocrisy actually is”

  6. So what? Does the fact that her grandparents acted illegally mean that she can’t be against that illegal action? If your grandparents were racist does that mean you can’t hold racism abhorrent?

    Anonymously Yours,
I’m a bit confused about your “facts”. It simply isn’t even close to being true that 90% of US citizens were illegal citizens at one time. Unless you mean that 90% of US citizens have committed some crime or other. If that is what you mean, the percentage is probably closer to 100%. Then again if that is what you meant, not sure what the point was. The fact that we have all committed a crime doesn’t mean we can’t be against criminal acts.

Oh, and yes, 100% of US citizens are on taken land. That is because 100% of every human is standing on taken land.

oh, and the police are paying for the cavity search.
    http://www.lcsun-news.com/las_cruces-news/ci_18844890
(of course they agreed to do so only have the story got published which is horrible)

  7. “100% of US citizens are on taken land. That is because 100% of every human is standing on taken land.”

Granted — but the U.S. still keeps the heirs of the rightful owners in refugee camps and, as a lasting legacy of its genocidal policies born of sel-righteous imperial racism, the U.S.imposes a blood quantum restricitons on their descendats so that over time the refugee camps can also be taken.

  8. Jeff–What Anonymous means is that this land was stolen from Native American people. This continent was obtained via conquest in the name of White supremacy. Treaties were broken and the whole nine yards to acquire this country. So do act as though you do not know what she means. I wish my American Indian ancestors would have built a wall. Now I say let them all in.

  9. “While President Obama is hardly responsible for such relatives (particularly on the side of his father who effectively abandoned him as a child) . . . ” JT

So if this were a white family member would he be particularly responsible? What if his father hadn’t abandoned him? Would that then make him particularly responsible?”

  10. New Mexico was inhabited by Native Americans, mainly Pueblos, before it was taken over by Spain. Bill Richardson retired and they got a republican governor.

  11. The difference between the 1930s and now (and for many yrs) is that there was comparatively little government stolen money (taxes) being given out to others in the 30s. Those who came into the US without government permission almost all worked for others, started their own businesses or depended on relatives/friends until they did one of the first two. Now of course, anyone can easily receive a government hand-out of various kinds.

Lots of people do not want to acknowledge the primary problem of the government handout programs – because they are recipients themselves in one or another of them?

Making lots of noise about “illegal immigrants” without addressing the root – government handouts – does nothing but perpetuate the practice of government dependency by the vast majority. And this plays right into the hands of government itself! – maintaining and growing the pawn mentality!

Governments encourage pawn mentality through promoting suspicion, fear, hate and dependence. No self-responsibility needed since government will decide and provide care for all – all of this by way of numerous government programs and policies.

No self-responsibility wanted, since that is done by people who mostly think, question and analyze (to individually varying degrees) and therefore might balk at being pawns – good only as cattle for labor of various types that maintain and promote government power directly or via taxes, and suitable as cannon fodder to fight the numerous wars begun as part of the fear campaign to further the belief that government is a necessity. (Forbid the thought that many in the populace should come to question whether a government is truly needed… ah, but they can and such questioning may be starting by some, chiefly the young.) It is definitely within the individual capabilities of the vast majority to come to understand this and with the Internet, more and more are within a finger’s tap of getting the information.

  12. Until we figure a way to go back in time and right a few “this is sure gonna be embarrassing in my future” incidents, (see Marty McFly for details) I see no contradiction here whatsoever. Unless Ms. Martinez knew of her lineage and covered it up – how many of any of us, have seen the birth certificates of our grandparents?

What I find far more pertinent to the greater issue, is that othewise bright individuals of all hues, can believe the Hispanification of America – at warp speed – a mass migration of millions of unprepared folks – isn’t really sinking a floundering ship.

I do recognize that many people simply and honestly cannot see the monstrous distortions and systems breakdowns from their own front door.

But we live in the age of the internet – a modern miracle – and it takes less than 30 minutes to get up to speed on the ugly facts. And one of the facts is this:

Every lifeboat has a “maximum occupancy allowed” stamp right on the side.

    Now why would that be?

  13. Here is the Official History of the earliest inhabitants of New Mexico:

    New Mexico First Early Inhabitants
    c. 25000 B.C. – Sandia people leave earliest evidence of human existence in what is now New Mexico.
    c. 10000-9000 B.C. – Clovis hunters roam area in search of mammoth, bison and other game.
    c. 9000-8000 B.C. – Folsom people flourish throughout Southwest at the end of the last Ice Age.
    c. 10000-500 B.C. – Cochise people are first inhabitants to cultivate corn, squash and beans, the earliest evidence of agriculture in the Southwest.
A.D. 300-1400 – Mogollon culture introduces highly artistic pottery and early architecture in the form of pit houses.
A.D. 1-700 – Anasazi basket makers elevate weaving to a high art, creating baskets, clothing, sandals and utensils.
A.D. 700-1300 – Anasazi culture culminates in the highly developed Chaco Civilization.
A.D. 1200-1500s – Pueblo Indians establish villages along the Rio Grande and its tributaries.

  14. Mr. Patrick,

Your point is well-taken and I certainly believe that immigration is a problem that needs to be addressed.

    And yet…

The fact of my very existence forces me to accept the white-ification of the entire North American continent. You point to the “Hispanification” of the U.S., Europeans will in quiet tones bring up the muslim-ification of their countries, and of course bringing up the rear will be Israel.

For better and for worse, it’s simply the continuity of the kaleidoscope which has put me where I am, oftentimes on the shoulders and destruction of many that came before. And while I have not been able to make my peace with it, I haven’t been able to escape the facts of the matter either.

I’m still sorting that one out. Your thoughts have been a great help to me.

  15. Another thing…

I recently moved to Flagstaff, Arizona from you neck of suburbia. I wanted to pursue one of my particular passions, snowboarding, while continuing my studies at the university here.

The most prominent feature here is an extinct volcano that rises 12,500 feet, a feature that is sacred to the huge native American population inhabiting the area. The ski resort on the mountain takes up a very small part of it, 1% or so if memory serves me right. And yet, it has been tangled up in courts for nearly a decade simply because it exists, fought tooth and nail by the natives. The resort was just recently approved rights by the court to make artificial snow using reclaimed water (this is Arizona after all), an issue that has the natives seeing red.

One of the more common bumper stickers around here shows a picture of a native American [Indian] face outfitted with feathers and all, and the words “fighting terrorism since 1492”.

Internally, I’ve given up my desires to have artificial snow for the resort in order to give them what they want. But I know in my heart that they’re engaged in a losing battle, one that started in 1492 and hasn’t ended 500+ years later.

  16. Illegal immigration seems to have worked quite well for New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez. On one hand her undocumented grandfather made her citizenship possible while on the other, undocumented future grandfathers gave her an issue to run against and helped her gain the governorship.

This is America, honey, work the system!

  17. Obama’s uncle quietly released from jail.

    http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2011/09/09/obamas_uncle_quietly_released_from_jail/?p1=Local_Links

Officials released President Obama’s uncle from Plymouth County jail yesterday after holding him for more than two weeks on an immigration detainer for violating an order to return to his native Kenya in 1992.

US officials refused to disclose any other information about Onyango Obama, who remained in the United States undetected until Framingham police arrested him Aug. 24 on drunken driving and other charges.

Yesterday, federal immigration officials refused to say whether the 67-year-old Framingham resident posted bond, whether they are keeping track of his whereabouts, or even whether they are still seeking his deportation, raising questions about public accountability in the case.

  18. Dabuh,

Remember Billy Carter registering as a foreign agent of the Libyan government and promoting Billy Beer

Of course there was Neil Bush and the Silverado Savings and Loan during the 1980s’ Savings and Loan crisis.

And then Bill Clinton’s pardon for his brother Roger’s drug conviction after Roger had served the entire sentence more than a decade earlier. Roger Clinton would be charged with drunk driving and disorderly conduct in an unrelated incident within a year of the pardon

The list of Presidents’ screwed up relatives goes on and on ….

  19. > It’s no longer 1930 and the situations are completely different.
    > My dad was in Mexico in the 1920s.
    > I am largely against illegal immigration today.

So the difference in the situation is that your family is now resident? After your arrival, we should block anyone else coming?

  20. Attorneys for a law firm in Oaxaca, Mexico Tuesday announced plans to file a lawsuit against Mexico City seeking reparations for the past use of slave labor.

The lawsuit claims slaves captured by the Aztec ruler Ahuitzotl, who engineered a successful military campaign in Oaxaca in the late 15th century, built the foundations for Mexico City and that ancestors of those slaves should receive compensation from the city.

“Were it not for the wrongful enslavement of our people, Mexico City would be nothing more than a teeming, Third-World cesspool”, said attorney Enrique Cortez, a partner in the law firm DeLeon, Cortez and Balboa “It’s time somebody said ‘we’re sorry.'”

Modern day Mexico City is built upon the ruins of the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan, which archeologists variously describe as a small, agricultural village, prior to the Aztec conquests of the mid-1400s.

Historians say many of the prisoners taken by the Aztecs during the Oaxaca campaign were used for human sacrifices, but others were spared and enslaved for the purpose of building a road system and an aqueduct to supply water for the region’s farmers.

At its height, Tenochtitlan was home to as many as 300,000 people, roughly the population of metropolitan Wichita, Kan.

“It’s reprehensible that slave labor would be used to advance this sort of urban sprawl,” said Cortez. “Reparations to the ancestors of these slaves is the only thing that can make them whole.”

Cortez said the lawsuit would seek unspecified damages for a class of plaintiffs that included dozens of Oaxacans.

Mexico City Municipal Counsel Emilio Montalban offered little comment on the lawsuit, but said the plaintiffs “ought to be joyous to know their ancestors did not have their living hearts cut from their chests,” which was a common practice among the Aztecs.

“To say that building an aqueduct is a worse fate than watching a shaman cut out your heart while tied to an altar is the height of arrogance,” said Montalban. “This lawsuit is nothing more than frivolous, legal fantasy.”

But Cortez argued that enslavement by the Aztecs constituted “a violence more destructive than being tossed into a Toltec fire,” and noted that slaves taken from Oaxaca were routinely denied access to telpuchcalli , the schools in which boys were taught Aztec religion and history, as well as the arts of warfare.

While the legal merits of the case are uncertain, some observers think the court action could have ramifications that extend beyond the question of slavery in 15th century Mexico.

“I see real potential problems here for some of Mexico’s premiere corporations,” said Jorge Cabrera-Estevez, executive director of the Mexican Bar Association. “If this goes forward and the ‘at-least-we-didn’t-cut-out-their-hearts’ defense is successful, there’s some real exposure for some big players down here.”

Specifically, Cabrera-Estevez mentioned the Hidalgo Mining Corporation, which has quarried obsidian in central Mexico for centuries.

Archeologists have determined that Aztec priests utilized obsidian knives to remove the hearts of humans earmarked for sacrifice, using the tool to make an incision beneath the ribcage to facilitate removal of the still-beating heart.

It’s not certain whether Hidalgo supplied any of the obsidian used in performing the ritual sacrifices.

“Sure, it was legal to cut out hearts back then, but that doesn’t mean these obsidian knife manufacturers and mining companies shouldn’t be held to a proper moral standard, even if it is 500 years later,” said Cabrera-Estevez.

  21. House chairman: Obama uncle’s got ‘backdoor amnesty’

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said Friday that President Obama’s half-uncle, an illegal immigrant who was picked up but has reportedly been released from jail, appears to have benefited from the new “backdoor amnesty” the administration announced last month.

“It appears there is a double standard — one for President Obama’s family and one for everyone else,” Rep. Lamar Smith, Texas Republican, said. “Last year, President Obama’s illegal immigrant aunt was granted asylum and now his illegal immigrant uncle has been released from [the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency] custody, even though he was arrested by authorities for drunk driving.”

Mr. Smith said the case will be the first “test case” for a new Homeland Security policy announced last month that gives immigration authorities more discretion to let illegal immigrants go, rather than pursue efforts to deport them.

  22. Nate:

Thanks for the thoughts. My take is we can feel as guilty as we want about the past, and some well-placed guilt might just up our humility quotient, which I think the USA as a group is in seriously short supply.

But to my way of thinking, it’s a tad tweaked on the logic meter, to surmise that uncontrolled migration of any single society, must be allowed, because it is “less worse” than the sins of our fathers – deemed “Mortal” – while slipping across a schizophrenic border appears “venial,” in comparison.

To allow an uncontrolled flood of millions – folks with medical needs; language deficiencies; cultural shock and metro-glut; an inordinate volume of crime – to continue unabated – is the definition of group-think denial of reality, in my humble opinion. And I would guess much of it is as politically driven as much of what we see on the far-right.

To those of us who have spent our adult lives responding to 911 calls, the distortions caused by floods – as opposed to light rain – could not be more obvious. And these distortions are every bit as cruel as turning a blind eye to folks who simply want to better their lives.

As the soon-to-be drowned fisherman said while his boat flipped ass-over-teakettle down Niagara Falls:

“You know, I’ve always love the water. I’m thinking the problem here might be the volume.”

    Exactly!

  24. Sounds like Lamar Smith is stating his opinion. He is after all an elected Representative. If you have a problem with his position email him and tell him so, better yet, why don’t you call him and tell his office how much you disapprove of his position. Seems like a logical approach to me.

  25. Darwin He is not my rep, and these Texas reps with huge republican majorities in their districts don’t pay any attention to the opposition. That’s my experience.

  26. I had read somewhere on this blog that you worked for the Republicans. And since you do, maybe your call could make all of the difference.

  27. I still maintain that the fear of illegal immigration is primarily based upon cultural, as opposed to economic, considerations.

When I read stuff like this I always laugh out loud. Pueblo culture is tied completely into pre-Columbian Mexican culture. I suppose Anonymously Yours believes that the fictive US/Mexican border has existed since time immemorial. However, the Puebloan people are FROM Mexico….in fact they part and parcel of Mexico’s indigenous heritage…in point of fact they are Mexican outliers and share/participate in Mexican culture. I have always found it hilarious that for some odd reason people in the US refuse to understand this very simple fact.

I have to LOL as well….I usually cite my sources…This time I did not as time did not permit….

Here it is for you: “http://www.e-referencedesk.com/resources/state-early-history/new-mexico.html”

Check it out….really….It starts off like this:

    New Mexico Early History
First Early Inhabitants of New Mexico

Early history examines the archaeological record that tells the story of the first inhabitants of New Mexico. Learn about the history and culture of the first inhabitants, and what lessons it might teach us about the early history of New Mexico.

Then it goes into what I posted….

    Then it goes into this….

The Clovis-Paleo Indians later discovered the eastern plains of New Mexico, the same expansive romping grounds of the dinosaurs around 10,000 B.C. The river valleys west of their hunting grounds later flooded with refugees from the declining Four Corners Anasazi cultures.

Sometime between A.D. 1130 and 1180, the Anasazi drifted from their high-walled towns to evolve into today’s Pueblo Indians, so named by early Spanish explorers because they lived in land-based communities much like the villages, or pueblos, of home. Culturally similar American Indians, the Mogollón, lived in today’s Gila National Forest.

So if you have a problem with what was posted….You might want to check your source before you start berating…..Just saying….

If you are correct….Then, a whole lot of history is being mis-taught…which I do not deny that it is possible…Now that I have shown you where I got mine….You wanna do a source check and share where you got yours?

I did check your statement that they were from Mexican descent….Guess what…

The Pueblo people are located primarily in New Mexico, however, at one time the Pueblo’s homeland reached into the states of Colorado and Arizona. Pueblo people rooted in this region of the southwest are descendants of an indigenous Native American culture that has established itself over many centuries.

I will agree that at one time this area was a possession of Spain, then the County of Mexico…..I seem to have missed that they claim Mexican Heritage….Will you please cite your source….

Here is the Official site for the Pueblo Indians….

    http://www.indianpueblo.org/19pueblos/index.html

I did learn something tonight…there are 19 Pueblos Indian Cultures…..

The 19 Pueblos of New Mexico: Acoma | Cochiti | Isleta | Jemez | Laguna | Nambe | Ohkay Owingeh | Picuris | Pojoaque | Sandia | San Felipe | San Ildefonso | Santa Ana | Santa Clara | Santo Domingo | Taos | Tesuque | Zia | Zun

Go for it Mexica….Tell me more…

  30. Mexica,

I find it strange that the Pueblos refuse to recognize the Mexican Heritage….Do you….You better contact them and inform them how wrong they are and to correct the entries on the web…..

  31. Mike A.,

“I still maintain that the fear of illegal immigration is primarily based upon cultural, as opposed to economic, considerations.”

I think that you have it correct….I am aware that here in the US it was very common for the Jews to deny their own cultural heritage…It was a shaming if someone found out….I do not know this personally….only ancestrally as what has been shared…

“If I was sponsoring a Bill against rape, and found out that my grandfather had raped someone; do you think that would make me reconsider my position? Do you think that would somehow make me now think that rape is OK?”

What offensive drivel. I cant believe you even made that despicable and utterly bogus comparison.

The governor has benefitted immensely from her grandfather’s illegal immigration into the USA. So yes, it is very hypocritical of her to be so anti-immigration.

  33. You have to expect this sort of thing when your state is plunked down between Arizona and Texas. It’s kind of like being mistakenly put into the influenza ward in 1918- it’s not your fault, but you will be lucky to escape with your life anyway.

As to the Presidential relatives, I agree with Blouise. All the recent Presidents’ kin have been, shall we say, a bit eccentric here and there. The Presidents, themselves, leave something to be desired. The last five haven’t exactly been Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Roosevelt. More like Curley, Moe, Larry, Shemp, and “Brass” Bancroft.

  34. So if her Grandparents were still alive(R they) she’d have essentially have signed and promoted laws that would have them deported just to get into office. Talk about politicians selling their own family down the river. WOW just WOW!

  35. “I am aware that here in the US it was very common for the Jews to deny their own cultural heritage”.

    AY,

You are quite correct and this is still true today. When any person is a minority in a new situation there develops among some a sort of Stockholm Syndrome, where they try to fit in with the majority. When it comes to skin color though the minority is precluded from “passing”, but
even so, like Clarence Thomas, still be in captivity to the perceived majority.

Since much of the Jewish immigration came from Europe, with centuries of pogroms and rapes, many look anything but Mid-Eastern. Unlike Blacks, Native Americans, Asians and others with ethnic features, many Jews could and did “pass” as WASPS.

To me the greatest threat posed to the anti-immigration people is that we are reaching a point here where Latinos are beginning to become a dominant force in the US. This is threatening to many in the previous “majority”. It upsets the prejudice that somehow Anglo-Saxon culture is the most civilized of humankind and therefore destined to rule. The flip side is the narrow view that other cultures have little to offer intellectually.
The sad truth of course is that Hispanic and all Asian cultures have a long history of intellectual development and much to offer to us all, if we only took the time to learn about them.

  36. @FU-NW

You need a scenario in which the governor has direct benefit?

Let’s say the governor found out that she was the product of rape. In that scenaio, her existence in this world would be due to that rape. In effect, she is a direct beneficiary of that rape.

Do you think she would be in favor of rape? Would anyone be saying “Wow! I can’t believe she would be in favor of a law that deters rape?”

  37. Mike S.

“To me the greatest threat posed to the anti-immigration people is that we are reaching a point here where Latinos are beginning to become a dominant force in the US. This is threatening to many in the previous “majority”

For 30 years, my rescue mates & I have had the dubious advantage of front-row seats, experiencing firsthand the continuing flood of humanity across our southern border. The results are some truly ugly medical consequences.

We all, I suppose, tend to determine reality by what we see. Less seen is more insidious, more expensive, more frightening than you might imagine. Field laborers working hard in crummy conditions for low wages – those who feed their families, and pursue the dream? Undoubtedly. No question. Unseen? The end-game of their free medical care – the off-the-chart volume of which has closed 89 California hospitals. (1) You may want to go back and look at that number again. A major cause of these closures is the Emergency Medical Treatment & Active Labor Act.

If you’re unaware of EMTALA, it behooves your education to read up.

What most see is Health Care Reform advocates saying that 43,000,000 lives are at risk – those who have no health insurance.[2] What is unseen is that medical insurance does not mete out equal medical care. The uninsured receive urgent care in ERs, under EMTALA. Also unseen is the percentage of uninsured who are illegal residents, stepping to the front of the line in your local ER, when their condition is more serious than yours. No one knows how many there are. But if there are 10,000,000, they constitute one out of four of ER patients.

EMTALA requires each ER to treat any “emergency” associated with cough, headache, hangnail, cardiac arrest, herniated lumbar disc, drug addiction, alcohol overdose, gunshot injury, automobile trauma, HIV-positive infection, mental problem, or personality disorder. The definition of emergency is vague enough to include almost any condition. Any patient requesting care must be screened and treated until stabilized, or discharged or stabilized for transfer, whether or not insured, whether or not “documented,” and whether or not able to pay.

A woman in labor must remain to deliver her child. A premature baby can run up $90,000 in care in a surprisingly brief period. Babies born to non-resident parents provide a lucrative residency pathway. The babies instantly qualify as citizens for welfare benefits. This causes volcanic eruptions in Medicaid costs and skyrocketing stipends under Supplemental Security Income and Disability Income.[4],[5]

The typical Paramedic in a typical U.S. city delivers 3-5 “emergency” babies in a career. In greater San Diego, my partner & I delivered 29 in five years. 23 were of non-resident, Hispanic mothers.

What is seen is the oft-polite non-resident at the Emergency Room with a cough. In the absence of a legal entry health screen, he has never been examined for contagious diseases. By murmur and shrug, we grant non-residents health passes that we have never tolerated among the citizenry – fatal diseases that American medicine vanquished decades ago. Our inner cities are now a haven for drug resistant strains of tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio, Dengue Fever, and Chagas Disease.[6],[7]

EMS teams now endure regimens of vaccines previously unheard of. Some of us are unknowingly toting diseases back to our families.

High-tech ACLS ambulances have degenerated into free, rolling medical offices.

Los Angeles County Trauma Network was once one of America’s finest EMS organizations. Consisting of 22 hospitals, high-tech equipment, superior emergency MDs, surgeons, specialists, nurses & technicians, it offered 24/7 emergency care. Today, most trauma hospitals have left the Network, along with physicians & surgeons.[8]

Illegal aliens perpetrate a considerable volume of violent crime, and when someone bleeds, we get called. [9],[10] “Dump & Run” victims dropped at the ER entrance are generally connected to drugs & gangs. Patients in need of advanced care for stabbings & gunshot wounds glut Paramedic calls for service. The volume of these calls puts an undeniably dent in what used to be a pretty decent response time for residents in need.[11],[12]

Sanctuary cities such as Los Angeles with high crime and immigrant gangs, are losing their hospitals to the ravages of un-reimbursed care.[13]

In the end, our nation’s schizophrenic posture toward those who violate basic international law, combined with our childlike fervor to please even those who snidely abuse our generosity, leverages our compassion against ourselves.

So the status quo – from this Medic’s perspective – is unsustainable.

    Sounds like someone got “beat”

    From the Urban Dictionary:

    ” beat
    1. To get screwed on a drug deal.
    2. When you give the dealer the money and he tells you “I’ll be right back man” and he takes off with the cash.
man I just got beat for $60″

  41. Mr. Patrick,

Thank you. Were it not for your voice, I’d still be in the dark.

In my own life, I will now do what I can to end illegal immigration.

  42. Nate –

    Thanks for the good words.

But understand – although I am professionally exasperated by the sheer volume of this mess – I have never been able to muster much anger toward those thousands of Hispanic patients we care for, who are sick, or randomly shot, or splattered across county highways following high-speed Border Patrol chases (and I’ve seen 7 of these nightmares)

I am absolutely livid at our governmental policies that have created this situation in the first place. And a lazy citizenry allowing it to happen.

When Obama went to the Southern border, to stand before the cameras and announce that the border is “secure,” I can promise you thousands of soCal EMS people wanted to throw up. Fire stations all over the state turned their TVs off. They did it because what he was saying was crap.

Two years ago, a group of us EMS-types invited the President to ride with a Medic team on a Saturday night in soCal. We even had a Hollywood make-up artist to disguise him, for his own safety. We met with the Secret Service.

What the President would have gotten is a needle-in-the-butt reality check – a treatment for stupid thinking.

I see no indication that those in power are interested in that vaccination.

  43. I used to have a save-the-world mentality.

Now, I just want to be where life is most beautiful.

If it’s not here, I’ll continue my search. Had some mighty fine experiences along the way :)

  44. The only way you are going to stop illegal immigration from our Southern border is to penalize the employers who are attracting them here. Without stopping that crime, the other criminal activity will continue.
Maybe it is just me, but if my grandparents entered the country illegally, I think the family knows about it and understandably does not publicize it.

  45. As a “Bleeding heart lib” as my hubby calls me I still am against illegal immigration. And I do see the problem as Patricks statistics prove out. However I never see anyone address the fact that those that are here are here by invitation. Its an under the counter invite. I own a farm of some size in NC that I cant possibly afford to farm. Farming is no longer a family farm scenario. The corporate farms have taken over agriculture in this area of the country. The corporate farmers are for the most part very conservative and know how to lobby. When I worked in a bank the corp. farmer would bring in his hands to cash their checks( they are paid by check and all taxes are withheld illegals just never file returns) Anyway the big farmers would bring in the hands and then talk about them in front of them as being the lowest scum on the planet. The illegals have bogus papers and therefore can be paid but these farmers only pretend they believe the papers are valid. It is to their benefit to have what amounts to barely above slave labor. The reason its not actual slave labor is the illegals are “Free to leave” It is virtual slave labor as often there is often a police force that cooperates with the slave owner oops I mean corporate farmer. In the western part of the state they held a man there for over ten years, holding back his money keeping messages from him and it was only through the intervention of his brother who had recently gained US citizenship that he was released, That intervention was a nightmare and yes Virginia there are labor camps in the US today. This illegal was recruited in southern Mexico by an agent of this particular farm.
You always hear screaming and caterwauling as an election approaches but then it always dies down till the next election. Martine the new citizen asked me about this . I told him about how the right manufactures emergencies that need to be addressed in an election. When he was sworn in Shortly before the 2008 election the gvt had them all register to vote. I am proud to say he registered Democratic.

  46. ONE OF THE GREATEST BILLS EVER, AGAINST THE ILLEGAL ALIEN INVASION

Never will there ever be another chance, to remove the contamination that has crept into Congress. Perhaps this is our final option to clean the rot from Washington and replace the aisles with honest TEA PARTY leaders. It’s evident that the GOP doesn’t want to lose their influence and their access to copious favors from H street lobbyists. It’s a similar agenda with Democrats and the hidden sleaze emanating from the Liberal extremists, who must be elected out. Furtherance, that main stream America must stay vigilant, against violations of our voting laws. ILLEGAL ALIENS DO VOTE AND HAVE DONE SO IN PREVIOUS ELECTIONS. THANKS TO ACORN AND ITS FRAUDULENT REGISTRATIONS, FOREIGNERS MAY HAVE POSSIBLY CHANGED CLOSE RACES IN OUR “CITIZENS ONLY” ELECTORATE.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS NOT JUST A VIOLATION OF AMERICANS SOVEREIGN RIGHTS, BUT THEFT OF MILLIONS OF JOBS AND A VISIBLE DOWNGRADE OF OUR ECONOMY. REP. LAMAR SMITH IS ON RECORD THIS THURSDAY TO CHANGE THE LAWS AND MAKE E-VERIFY MANDATORY. THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN MY COMMENTARY TO SPREAD THE WORD. BUT EVERYBODY APPLYING FOR ANY JOB WILL HAVE TO BE VERIFIED. NO MATTER IF YOU’RE BLACK, WHITE, HISPANIC OR ANY OTHER RACES; THIS WILL BE OF MASSIVE ADVANTAGE TO YOU AND YOUR JOB SEARCH IF YOU CAME TO AMERICA THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR. H.R. 2885 New Bill Number for Lamar Smith’s “Legal Workforce Act” IS GOING TO THE FLOOR AND CAN SAVE YOUR JOB BY YOU CONTACTING YOUR REPRESENTATIVE THROUGH THE WASHINGTON DC SWITCHBOARD AT 202-224-3121. INSISTING YOUR SENATORS AND HOUSE VOTE FOR H.R. 2885.

Go to the Heritage Foundation website, NumbersUSA or Judicial Watch and read for the dollar figures that should push you to vote. Discover information at American Patrol, the Liberals and Democrats want to keep concealed, of the daily criminal and illegal alien activities in local and national news media. If you believe in the “Rule of Law.” and citizens rights established in the US Constitution.
Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) is the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and major forces have attempted to get him to keep postponing the moving of H.R. 2885.

DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT NUMBERSUSA, AMERICAN PATROL AND JUDICAL WATCH WOULD SIGN ON TO THE REP. LAMAR SMITH BILL H.R.2885, IF IT WASN’T BENEFICIAL TO AMERICAN WORKERS AND OUR FAILING ECONOMY? E-VERIFY IS TO EJECT ILLEGAL ALIENS FROM THE WORKPLACE, USING THE SOCIAL SECURITY VERIFYING SYSTEM. IF IT MEANT THE LOSE OF JOBS TO UNITED STATES, NATURALIZED CITIZENS AND GREEN CARD RECIPIENTS THOUSANDS OF PRO-SOVEREIGNTY GROUPS WOULD APPOSE THE BILL. NEVER WILL THE GOP ESTABLISHMENT OR DEMOCRATS SEAL OUR BORDER—JAMMED TIGHT, OR RELINQUISH ITS HOLD ON VOTES OR LOWER WAGE LABOR. ONLY THE TEA PARTY THAT IS A SPLINTER GROUP OF THE REPUBLICANS WILL ENFORCE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION LAWS TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE 1986 IMMIGRATION LAWS.
I guess if you don’t mind subsidizing illegal aliens to the tune of $113 Billion dollars a year and climbing like a vine, then you will not bother calling your Lawmakers. Don’t leave this obnoxious issue for others to participate in, phone, fax your people in Washington or State Capitol.

All stops will be ripped out, to ensure that—ONLY—A –TRUE–TEA PARTY politician gain control, in the House or Senate. Already the Republican power mongers are influencing debates by pushing Rick Perry, but he has bad karma on illegal immigration, that will forever be a prominent decider in the Presidential or any elections until our laws are strictly enforced. Mitt Romney has settled into a D-, as he hasn’t convinced the millions of TEA PARTY membership of his record on immigration. Most others except Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain have the strong supporters of stopping the out-of-control occupancy of foreigners, who have steadily poured into this nation, with no true deterrent of any administration. ALWAYS REMEMBER THE TEA PARTY PEOPLE, ARE JUST THAT ORDINARY AMERICANS LIKE YOU. THEY ARE NOT ATTORNEY-POLITICIANS OR HARD CORE COMMUNIST INSPIRED LEFTIST.

President Obama for a time has illustrated some strong enforcement, up to this latest period in the White House, but eventually being intimidated by the czars in his circle of far left wing influence. Today–in this dreary recession, when millions of workers throughout America are living on food stamps and limited unemployment benefits, Obama has decided to only to process heinous criminals, instead of following through with the law and deporting every alien who falls into the clutches of ICE. Millions of Americans stand on the edge of miserable poverty, but millions of foreign nationals have been hired by dirty business owners who refuse to follow the law. The 20 million plus population of foreign invaders began in 1986, which was the start of the government’s unceasing engineered encouragement of covertly finding ways to promote millions from pouring through undermanned border regions.

IT’S AN OBVIOUS CONCLUSION THAT IF THEIR WAS ANY REAL INDUCEMENT TO ENFORCE IMMIGRATION LAWS, THE BORDERS WOULD BE SEALED SHUT AND UNLAWFUL ENTRY WOULD BE A FELONY? THE 1986 IMMIGRATION LAWS WAS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY, AS BUSINESSES WERE NEVER PUNISHED AND THE WHOLE THING WAS A TRAVESTY.

THE 3.5 Million illegal aliens who received AMNESTY and poor processing (Much of what was tantamount to fraud, concluded with millions more slipping across the borders and flying in from foreign countries. America is now crippled with millions of originally Chain Migration recipients, who survive on welfare handouts? We must draw the line on desperate nationals from other lands, when 15.1 percentage of America lives in poverty. Every year we take in at least a million newcomers, who supposedly are highly skilled in numerous occupations? In truth many have mediocre job skills, that out or work Americans have the experience to do. This is about importing cheap labor and not top notch scientists, engineers, who should receive expedited visas. Thousands of the poorly skilled come here on fraudulent applications, drawn up by incorrigible corporations and their well-paid attorneys.

  47. “Thousands of the poorly skilled come here on fraudulent applications, drawn up by incorrigible corporations and their well-paid attorneys.”

    Dave,

Yes, but don’t you get the irony the the Heritage foundation and the Tea Party are supported by those same corporations. When will you realize that a game is being run on you and you are one of its patsies.

  48. TAXPAYERS! CALL AND DEMAND REP. LAMAR SMITH E-VERIFY LAW.

Assume– you are an illegal alien and are ready to cross the Southern border, wouldn’t you hesitate knowing that if caught you are going to be charged with a felony? Same with so called tourists, students or others coming in by passenger plane, that if you commit perjury by signing your entry document and stay on a expired visa you are going to be charged with a felony. Nobody in their right mind is going to enter America, other than dangerous criminals, terrorists or other foreigners with elicit intentions.

THE TEA PARTY NATION—DOESN’T SPEAK FOR THE TENS OF MILLIONS OF TEA PARTY MEMBERS.

THE MORE I CONTEMPLATE THAT ITS ONLY A CIVIL OFFENSE, THE MORE I UNDERSTAND THAT NO GOVERNMENT SINCE THE 1954 EISENHOWER ADMINISTRATION HAVE EMPOWERED ANY SERIOUS INTENTIONS TO SEAL THE BORDER–TRACK IMMIGRANTS FROM ABROAD, PROSECUTE ILLEGAL ALIENS WITH A FELONY CONVICTION. TRY ENTERING ANOTHER COUNTRY WITHOUT PERMISSION, ESPECIALLY ACROSS OUR SOUTHERN BORDER, YOU ARE GOING TO BE IMPRISONED OR DISAPPEAR WITHOUT A TRACE.

I keep on hearing that illegal aliens are not taking American jobs. My step daughter’s common law husband, his cousin found him some extra work at a Solar Company in Los Angeles. He had previously always been in construction, but after being laid off, he went back to school, hoping become an intricate part of the Solar Industry. What he really got him angry about, was during the work on the roof of an educational complex, where they were installing the equipment, nobody spoke English and the supervisor who managed the ten men team, and only communicated in broken English himself. Asking another supervisor about the installers, he stated they were all fresh young faces and had been recruited in Tijuana. AS FOR FARMERS AND MEGA AGRICULTURAL CONCERNS, THEY DO NOT PAY FOR ILLEGAL ALIEN HEALTH OR THEIR CHILDREN’S SCHOOLS—TAXPAYERS CARRY THAT BURDEN.

This rampant violation of our immigration laws is not an isolated case, as it is a widespread breakdown of the US Government failing to defend American citizens. One of the biggest violators is contractors and sub-contractors who are using cheap labor and therefore able to lower their bids, so established firms cannot compete. This is not just California, but the whole Southwest to the East coast and has been propagating for years. It’s a shame there isn’t a website that describes stories exactly like this, relating to businesses using illegal immigrants and migrants; jobs that could be accomplished by every occupational American?

But NumbersUSA has an very interesting grid that illustrates the great advantages of a permanent federal government E-Verify, that will initiate a zero-tolerance law that no business can escape from.

In a prior job speech by President Obama, he told the national audience, he intends to invigorate more jobs, in rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure, by repairing bridges, roads and schools. The question to ask—how has this administration is going to stop the illegal aliens stealing these jobs. We already know illegal aliens are being hired at cheaper rates than the average American; receiving no health or other benefits. We also know that unions are not interested in who is allowed to work and whose not. Then we have federal, state and private contractors, who will use illegal aliens to underbid honest companies. Even this goes even deeper as private contractors, will hire sub-contractors, who will also violate immigration laws by recruiting foreign workers as what happened in New Orleans, after Hurricane Katrina devastated the region.

On the NumbersUSA website, the whole bill is clarified, and just need enthusiastic voters to bombard the Capitol? Already the same activist suspects are trying to undermine this urgent bill. One big bare-faced lie is the TEA PARTY opposes this law. What they are not informing you concerning this is just one Tea Party group, The TEA PARTY NATION that is just one of thousands of independent entities, as the TEA PARTY is just ordinary Americans , who have been kicked around too long. The majority of TEA PARTY members are adamant there will be no more Amnesties. No clandestine small Amnesties that have been happening for years, millions entering annually. True TEA PARTY leaders will rescind any Sanctuary City or State policies, with refusal a loss of federal funds.

Judicial Chairman Lamar Smith’s Legal Workforce Act last Thursday morning was marked-up for discussion on mandatory E-Verify. The Legal Workforce Act would require national use of E-Verify for all new hires for 100% of businesses within 2 years of enactment. Earlier today, Chairman Smith reintroduced the bill as H.R.2885 with a new subsection that requires the Department of Homeland Security to establish a support center for states that wish to help enforce the law.

BE A WHISTLE BLOWER AND HELP YOUR FELLOW AMERICAN TO FIND A JOB.

This piece of information that should be repeated:

For the illegal aliens already working, there is an effective answer to this issue as well. If you are suspicious of competition using illegal aliens, Etc, Contractors in Construction, assembling products or any manual work, contact the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division at 1-866-DHS-2ICE (866-347-2423). According to one of our members of NumbersUSA who spoke with an ICE agent, “the mere ‘suspicion’ that a company’s employees are illegal aliens is all that is necessary to make the call to commence an investigation.” He added, “Law enforcement organizations cannot, and do not, expect the public to be experts in determining whether someone is committing a crime, so they provide a safe harbor approach to informing.” SEE SOMETHING–SAY SOMETHING!

If you are disgusted by the mockery of our immigration laws, reach for that phone and call you’re Representative at 202-224-3121. Don’t wait–this is a very powerful bill that could help millions of Americans find work, especially in the lower incomes. When 20 million Americans are jobless, being only finding temporary or part time work, this should be not the time for hiring foreign nations. My commentary cannot possibly cover the whole travesties perpetrated on Americans, but all evidence of years of failure, unconcern and corruption is available at NumbersUSA, American Patrol and Judicial Watch. There are just three of the hundreds of serious pro-sovereignty organization, fighting the open border zealots.

Public Warning: In 2012 we need strict oversight of our voting rights? Democrats and liberals tend to look the other way, as illegal aliens may flock into polling places. Illegal aliens have and still do vote in the general elections. A close eye should be kept on all registration forms that includes Absentee ballots that succumb to fraud, ACORN is not dead, just changed its names; they have committed registration fraud before and will again.

  49. IF YOU REALLY WANT THE TRUTH?

Governor of Texas Rick Perry canceled his chance of being President, as he had an insignificant standing on holding back the hordes of illegal aliens. In prior speeches he was more for amnesty than against it and handing out taxpayers money for tuition of illegal immigrant children is not honing the TEA PARTY to support him. The majority of Americans have trusted Politicians like Perry for far too long, good orators in front of crowds, but in actual fact his words are meaningless when it comes to legislating what “The People” really want–such as a real double layer fence across our Southern border–of which he disapproves and is a urgent National Security issue.

In Furtherance to the growing concerns over the border fence that President Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano declares “that it’s Secure?” Go to the “American Patrol” website, and digest the surveys along the 2000 miles of border. It just doesn’t exist. Type into Google “American Patrol” and add Fence as keywords and then find out the truth and not exaggerations or lies. Thousands of miles still remain wide open, consisting of decaying rusted fencing. Hundreds of miles are just supplemented with vehicle barriers, which anybody could pass through.

Check and decide for yourself if the borders are controlled on American Patrols full explanatory maps. There are hundreds of miles that federal agents that are even prohibited from the border areas , because of environmental laws that have gone haywire with regulatory policies. Yet the environmentalist remain lock-jawed on the mounds of filth and human effluent left by the thousands of illegal migrants and immigrants who slip through every month, who end up pilfering the taxpayers pockets . I think human life of a rancher comes first before a species of frog or a tiny plant instead of another “political Correct” endangered Species Act..

Far superior in worth for Presidency is Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain, as neither are part of the GOP establishment. Bachmann, Cain should address strongly the expensive and social consequences of illegal immigration, which is consuming this nation in balkanization and wrecking American democracy. Both are heavily supported by the TEA PARTY and have exceptional immigration grades, to enforce the laws already on the books. Both are Constitutional Conservatives and believe fully in shrinking government, scrapping the present tax code and returning agencies of government to each individual State. Only the REAL TEA PARTY doesn’t crave the illegal alien votes, or massive influx of cheap labor for overwhelming power or profitable interests. If I had my way, I would vote in Donald Trump as president. He would make sure that International trade treaties played fairly. No other country has the most consumers’ in the world, so Trump would insure fair treaties instead of what we have now. My God! A child could get better results, then the rip off our Diplomats have made with China.

Don’t believe in the Liberal Progressives, open border and radical organizations that THE TEA PARTY is an opponent of E-Verify as this is a downright lie. The TEA PARTY NATION that is just one of thousands of independent entities, as the TEA PARTY is just commonplace Americans, who have been kicked around too long. The majority of TEA PARTY members are unbending there will be no more Amnesties. No clandestine small Amnesties that have been happening for years, millions entering annually. True TEA PARTY leaders will rescind any Sanctuary City or State policies, with refusal a loss of federal funds.

If you are appalled by the mockery of our immigration laws, reach for that phone and call you’re Representative at 202-224-3121. There are just three of the hundreds of serious pro-sovereignty organization, fighting the open border zealots.

In Conclusion, Farmers and Mega-agricultural corporations complaining about E-verify and lose of cheap labor are keeping concealed that when an illegal alien worker is sick, he leaves that unfortunate uninsured soul at the emergency room. His whole families also are treated from a minor cough to a serious illness—which the taxpayers pay for eventually. Same with all the children, that are placed in Public schools—which come out of your taxes, not the farmer’s profits. It’s a fact that State and federal governments appropriate from taxpayers an estimated $113 billion dollars a year in catering to illegal aliens. (Heritage foundation study)

  50. Neither party will ever reform immigration.

Politicians on either side of the aisle court Hispanic votes. A huge block of American citizens and legal aliens with Hispanic backgrounds throw a huge fit about profiling whenever illegal immigration is mentioned.

We cannot survive open floodgates of immigrants who come here on their own timetable, without letting our government set quotas; but it will continue because Democrats want to turn illegal aliens into voters; while Republicans want them as cheap, compliant labor at their corporate donors’ slaughterhouses, packing plants, and orchards.

  51. Noah and Dave,

Illegal immigration has always been about powerful farmers and rich corporations wanting cheap labor and using campaign contributions to muddy the issue. The mistake made by many is that any politician who backs the interest of corporations over the majority of people, will back policies that harm us. Dave mentions Bachman and Cain, they they are just as much corporate shills as the rest of the political class. The Tea Party itself was pushed into being by Dick Armey, the biggest lobbyist in Washington.

If they really want to throw out any and all that came here illegally….and the kids as well…..I would like to know what the cut off date is…and what the rational is for that cut off date….

  54. We can all stand with our fellow jobless countryman by Calling House and Senate Leadership NOW Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121. In winding up, Arizona, Georgia, Alabama and other states have been persecuted by Dept of Justice Eric holder and his mob. All these states need our help from years of a neglected border and the flow of–ECONOMIC–foreign nationals. Don’t take my word for the facts, as you can find the ugly truth of the illegal settlement at NumbersUSA that has been forced upon us for over thirty years. There have been 6 additional hidden small Amnesties and the clandestine importation of millions of semi-skilled workers that have arrive here every year, in competition from US workers high paying jobs. Other websites that will deliver the facts about the criminal element, with wide ranging access to the E-media is American Patrol.
