In the most predictable ruling of the year, a court denied the effort of Idaho Sen. Larry Craig to withdraw his guilty plea after his arrest in a Minnesota public restroom. Craig, however, got the last word and, once again, reversed an earlier decision. He now insists that he will serve out his term in office. As I noted in an earlier column, that will set up an interesting fight in the Senate. Craig is right that this is not conduct that has historically been treated as the basis for expulsion. Indeed, serious constitutional questions would be raised by such a move by his colleagues. For the earlier column, click here
