For years, the Houston crime lab has been notorious of shoddy work. Now, a man who has spent 12 years in prison for rape has been found innocent. Ronald Taylor was picked out of a line-up by the victim and the lab insisted that there was no
body fluids on the bedseet that the crime scene. Taylor was convicted of rape in 1995 and sentenced to 60 years in prison. It turns out that there were fluids and that they implicated a man already in prison. The case not only shows the flaws in our criminal justice system, but the unreliability of eyewitness testimony in things like line-ups.
