The Pitter Patter of Little Litigator Feet: Florida Courthouse Overrun With Mice

ja-palmbeach4250px-d0bcd18bd188d18c_2There appears to be no professional courtesy between counsel and rodents at the Palm Beach County Courthouse. The court is overrun with mice that are falling from the ceilings and running across the floor during trials.

Mice have been appearing in briefcases and purses, forcing many to check before leaving the courthouse to avoid surprises in their cars or homes.

Of course, it is not only the law that attracts such little livestock. I recently took my oldest son Benjamin to the NBC studios only to have two mice run around him. When he reported two separate sightings, there was some uncertainty until the next night, a woman almost sat on one of the mice in the green room.

The Palm Beach mice interrupted a burglary trial and have caused staffers to run shrieking from offices.

Exterminators have been called with little hope for habeas corpus relief for the little litigators.

  1. “Buddha Is Laughing
    Yes, welcome lottakatz!
Although I must confess that at the moment, on of my own cats is in Trouble, it won’t be held against you.”

I hope that doesn’t imply that one of your cats is ill or has misbehaved so badly its betrayed your affection. It was probably just being a cat and cats treat us, their staff, thoughtlessly sometimes.

And no, it will not be held against me, I won’t allow it. I’m not that kind of blogger sir. 😉
    But your ‘welcome’ is appreciated.

  2. Finally! I discover, possibly a factor of my own denseness that bil is for Buddha. Boy that’s a relief. As a text messaging and IM illiterate, I felt I was fast falling behind the times and you young’uns.

Lottakatz, the welcome here comes to those who write well thought out stuff, share a certain wicked sense of humor, or who are like me one of the nicest guys on the internet and so are tolerated. And you all think I’m humble.

I agree with your pet peeve which is why I never use the term anti-semitic, Shoah instead of Holocaust, or if I can help it Palestinians. On the last I know I’ll get some argument from people I like and admire, but that is one of the great things about Professor Turley’s site. It works on the principles which he cherishes and fights for, to wit: The right and power of free discussion is preeminent and necessary to the maintenance of democracy and freedom.

  3. CCD,

To quote Apollo 8 mission commander Frank Borman, “We can see the Earth from here . . . ”

And it’s always a pretty picture. Well, it is for now anyway.

  4. Yes, welcome lottakatz!

Although I must confess that at the moment, on of my own cats is in Trouble, it won’t be held against you.

  5. Well said lottakatz, so many gifted voices here.
Welcome to the Oasis. This ride is a BLAST!

  6. Mike Spindell, Thanks for the welcome aboard. I just started visiting about 10 days ago and I always find the discussion and comments among the ‘regulars’ very interesting. The level of intellectual acuity focused on the wide range of topics presented here (the trolls aside) is a real treat.

A comment of yours clarifying the sloppy thinking and use of language regarding the use of ‘Jew” v. ‘Semite’ v. ‘Zionist’ as the determinant of a bigoted statement v. a valid political premise and comment was excellent. (That’s a pet peeve of mine.) I wanted to make a response to you on that issue but it had been covered so well any comment would have been redundant. Very impressive. All of the regular ladies and gents here teach me something new everyday.

I have great respect for Professor Turley and I’m very happy to have found his blog. It’s become one of my favorites at light-speed.

  7. CCD:

    “BIL,
Nice picture. The face looks great but the color looks a little..irradiated? Green is the heart chakra, hey it’s growing on me already.”

So “BIL” is short for Buddha is Laughing.

    Your acronym; not mine.

    Righty-o

  8. Propaganda has to have persistence to be effective. You do realize your copy paste crap will soon be deleted, right? No? Well then I guess that’d make you the dumbest SOB here, boner.

  9. What We the People owe Bush is public humiliation and asset forfeiture. What We the People owe Cheney is an execution.

  10. BIL,
Nice picture. The face looks great but the color looks a little..irradiated? Green is the heart chakra, hey it’s growing on me already.

  11. Mike,

Yeah, that was a bit much. Looked like Buddha had wandering into a spray booth with a 53 Mercury.

I went back to the green, darkened it and whipped out the old airbrush and smudge tools to soften the forehead glare. I think that’s going to fix what was bugging me most.

    dog bone,

Oh my! An intelligence estimate from a Neocon spam whore. I’m just devastated, er, no, giggling. That’s the word. Giggling.

  12. Buddha,
Um, maybe my sepia suggestion was off base.

    Lottakatz,
    Welcome aboard, enjoy the party.

    Kellek,
I’m missing her too, but fear not she’ll be back, she gets ratings.

    Dog bone,
    bury yourself.

  13. Which would be 1% more than are listening to Neocons at the moment.

Actually, I don’t care about your pitiful spam. I’ve never heard of Randi Rhodes or her show. Until just now, I thought she was a he and he was Ozzy’s deceased guitarist. I just wanted to test if my avatar had updated.

  14. I miss listening to you on Randi’s show! Please help her out anyway you can, a lot of people likely first heard about you on her show.

  15. “dog bone – Has American diplomacy ever been conducted so amateurishly?”

Yes, the last 8 years, that is when it was conducted at all. I say ‘when it was conducted at all’ because ignoring your world neighbors and invading nations willy-nilly may be misconstrued to be diplomatic tactics in some Bizarro world but they hardly rise to the level of actual diplomacy.

Oops, don’t feed the Trolls, sorry, my bad.

  16. Probably the reincarnated souls of the wrongly convicted and oppressed come back to harass their evil masters in the Justice system. It is Florida after all.

Did I say that out loud? 😉

What I meant to say was ‘Cats, they need some good, old-fashioned, courthouse cats.’
