Don’t Touch My Junk!

Don’t want to go through the TSA’s full body scan or porn-o-scan? The TSA has an alternative: “enhanced” pat-downs. These pat-downs gropings have one objective – coerce you into going through the body scanner.

T-shirts with the logo on the left are available here.

If a significant number of passengers choose to opt-out of the body scanners, the time required to do a normal pat-down would cause such delays that travelers would find alternatives to flying. The airlines would raise hell. To prevent this, the TSA has resorted to the terror tactic of “enhanced” pat-downs.

There is big money at stake here. Former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff actively lobbies for the scanner manufacturer Rapiscan via his firm the Chertoff Group. Each unit has a price tag of $25 million and the Obama administration has provided $1 billion in stimulus money for the purchase of scanners.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) has filed a petition for review and motion for an emergency stay with District of Columbia Court of Appeals. EPIC said that the program is “unlawful, invasive, and ineffective.” With this much money at stake, the Fourth Amendment doesn’t stand a chance.

I expect members of Congress to act outraged, hold hearings wherein they act outraged, and then do nothing.  Politicians will use this opportunity to get their sound bites on the evening news, then something else will come along and distract us.

If you decide to go the “enhanced” pat-down route, you could pull a Meg Ryan:

  1. If I had half badtroll’s brain power, I’d be sitting in a corner drooling on myself and unable to type let alone turn on a computer.

  2. Bdaman:

Dont listen to Buddhatroll. If he had just half of your brain power I hate to think what he would be capable of.

  3. LTC West is crazy. He beat Ron Klein. I think he will be a one term tea party black man.

  4. Swathmore Mom I am a pro military kinda guy if you haven’t noticed.

Thats why I like guys like LTC West here in Florida and hope he gets into the Black Caucus and stirs them up like a hornets nest.

  5. Again, I said, “The best way to lower the rate of crossing still lies in measures designed to help/force Mexico to get their act together domestically – a problem in itself given our own domestic malfunctions – but it’s an action that would have measurable impact on both illegal traffic flow by creating incentives for illegal would-be’s to stay in Mexico. The solution cannot be all stick as a matter of mathematics, ergo the best solution with the maximal outcome must be a combination of stick and carrot.”

You really don’t read much above a 4th grade level, do you?

  6. No I don’t, and honestly I don’t like Palin either. I would really like to see Colin Powell run.

  7. How does Buddha fix the problem of non U.S. Citizens entering the country unchecked?

    Still no answer

  8. “They are attacking U.S. Citizens. Maybe you forgot about that.”

Maybe you should take some classes to help with your reading comprehension:

I said, “militarization of our border will invite the drug cartels to start attacking our personnel more than they do“.

As to the rest? Blah blah blah, badtroll.

Your willingness to wallow in your own ineptness is endlessly entertaining.

  9. Another reminder
    Before the Mid-Terms
Obama orders 1,200 Guard troops to border
$500 million also sought to improve protection, law enforcement

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37340747/ns/us_news-security

    After the Mid Terms
Obama administration plans to pull back National Guard from much of the border

Read more at the Washington Examiner: http://washingtonexaminer.com/world/2010/11/obama-administration-plans-pull-back-national-guard-much-border#ixzz16DOaEPdL

Why does he plan to pull them back. They should increase the number and leave them there permanently or until such time that other law enforcement can be sure the border is secure.

  10. Mo,

Agree with some much of what you’ve said, but have to get to work. Will have to respond later. I’m also not a big ACLU fan, but they have some good information on their site…

As far as getting rid of DHS and the Patriot Act? Yes and yes.

You said, “The bottom line in all of this is whether individual rights are preserved or violated.”

I agree — and they’re being violated all over the place. One such place is on the streets, where “the watchers” are doing a heck of a lot more than just watching. They’re out there terrorizing and, yes, even provoking violence. But who would believe it?

  11. “Guns and guards are not a panacea nor are they the appropriate tool for every job.”

But a couple of divisions of Marines and some air support and we could take over Mexico and eliminate the drug cartels and give Mexico back to Mexicans.

Doing that would actually be in the best interest of our national security.

  12. Just as a reminder if I did have a problem with it. You wouldn’t be seeing Bdaman. I would have already switched to another Nom De Plume. I haven’t. Bring it up every chance you get.

  13. Anon Nurse:

I read the article. That sounds like a national police force which I thought we already had in the FBI.

I think the Patriot Act should be abolished and the DHS dismantled. So I would probably not be in favor of these. But I am not a big fan of the ACLU either and think they are wrong more often than they are right.

The bottom line in all of this is whether individual rights are preserved or violated.

If you have a Muslim man between the ages of 18 and 40 coming in on a flight from Pakistan or Yemen it would be advisable to search him very well, if you have a Muslim female flying from New Orleans to Los Angeles the need to scrutinize is very low. If you have a Christian female flying from Minneapolis to New York the need to search is almost non-existent.

While you are wasting your time on Ms. Nazir and Ms. Carlson, Mr. Nejob is more likely to get around the search because of fatigue of the TSA workers. If they are only giving Ms. Nazir and Ms. Carlson a lick and a promise then this entire production is a farce and should be ended. In other words are we profiling but using Ms. Nazir and Ms. Carlson as cover for our actions?

  14. Oh I have no problem with it bring it up as often as you like. In fact if Mike would like to rejoin the discussion I would welcome it. I’m sure the doctors have advised him to stay away from anything that may increase his blood pressure until such a time can be determined that everything is normal.

“Just like militarization of our border will invite the drug cartels to start attacking our personnel more than they do already instead of Mexican cops and politicians and it will do nothing to impact illegal traffic flow other than divert it to different routes – routes too numerous due to our size to be able to effectively monitor them – and make them more money.”

They are attacking U.S. Citizens. Maybe you forgot about that. They are decapitating their own, maybe you forgot about that. Wonder where they learned that.
The flow of drugs has increased into the U.S. from Mexico, maybe your forgot about that.

So your solution is to do nothing and let it exist, leave it alone, it will fix itself. Why don’t you tell us how to fix the problem and offer some suggestions instead of telling other people that their ideas are stupid and won’t work.

How does Buddha fix the problem of non U.S. Citizens entering the country unchecked?

“It makes absolutely no sense, and it does make me think, ‘Where are we living?’ ” Senator Kim Ward (R)

I ask myself the same question every day. (It’s so much worse than many people realize…)

    DONALD GILLILAND, The Patriot-News

“None of that makes any sense to me at all,” Senator Kim Ward, a Republican from Westmoreland County, told Powers. “That we would go monitor private citizens and private groups and they’re not a threat to us …. it’s just for awareness.
“It makes absolutely no sense, and it does make me think, ‘Where are we living?’ “

  16. badtroll,

I’ll compare you to whom you act like. Ol’ Kim’s tactic was to militarize the border. It only exacerbated tensions with his southern neighbors. Just like militarization of our border will invite the drug cartels to start attacking our personnel more than they do already instead of Mexican cops and politicians and it will do nothing to impact illegal traffic flow other than divert it to different routes – routes too numerous due to our size to be able to effectively monitor them – and make them more money. You don’t like getting the fleas of stupid solutions on you? Don’t lay down with dogs. If you have a head like a hammer, the whole world looks like nails. Guns and guards are not a panacea nor are they the appropriate tool for every job.

As to Mike? I’ve been in touch with Max and she’s not indicated that Mike has any problems with my posts. He’s had a slight set back related to a post-surgical complication, but is now on the road to recovery again though. Your concern is touching even if motivated out of a sense of self-preservation and damage control regarding your credibility and image. (Pst! That’s sarcasm in re your touching concern.)

As to harm? Not all apologies are equal and not all deserve to be accepted. You’re a hateful little bigot or you wouldn’t have used that manifestly offensive term in the first place. Had he been black, you might as well have called him a nigger. If I were him? I wouldn’t accept your apology either.

Mike has no problem with me not letting you live that down. He hasn’t let you live it down when he’s around. When and if he ever does accept your oh so self-serving apology, he’ll ask me to stop pummeling you over the head with it and I’ll comply. Until then? You reap what you sow, bdabigot. Just another example of one of your self-inflicted injuries.

  17. Swm,

Are you sure….I just call Charley and ask him WWCD….not that he is in much of a position to say anything about the latest Tryst…..But then again was she a Pro Noun…….

    Buddha,

I can turn it into many magical memory’s and moments…Pro Noun…

  18. Buddha lets look at who attacked who first. First you compared me to Kim Jon-IL then bring out the usage of troll called my solutions stupid on and on and on. You start it every time.

And I told you this before but your repeated referencing of me calling Mike S a Christ Killer for which I have sincerely apologized for only brings more harm to him whether or not he admits it or not.. You are referencing a time when I got his blood to boil. In his current condition of recovery go ahead and keep it up. I’m sure his blood pressure is fine, Dumb-ass
