Boehner Hoax? Sites Claim Boehner Stated American Kids Too “Poor and Lazy” To Protest

Speaker of the House John Boehner is being widely quoted as explaining that the United States does not have to fear protests by citizens for better government because many are too “poor and lazy” to act. This seems pretty unbelievable and a likely hoax. If so, it is a remarkably vicious act.

In the supposed interview with Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone, Boehner is quoted as saying about America’s youth:

“Can’t pay your student loan? Face it your parents were lazy and you couldn’t afford college. The world needs ditch diggers and you were born into a family of them. Can’t pay your mortgage? Your house was too expensive and you couldn’t afford it. “It’s not going to happen in the US. The kids here are too fat, too lazy, to addicted to TV, fast food, cheap credit, and facebook.” I have news for you- there are plenty of jobs out there- the unemployed don’t want them. Today’s college student feels entitled to make at least $24 right after college. I’m not worried for this country- there are a few of them who actually want to work, take Mark Zucker(sic). You don’t build a site like facebook out of thin air- it takes talent and hard work. I went to a community college and all I saw were people sitting in front of computers typing away, their eyes were fixed. Probably just facebooking away.”

Not only does this lacks credibility, but it lack any factual basis as the picture below demonstrates. As this picture found on Reddit demonstrates, we are still raising children with a can-do attitude:

“I am of the opinion that the federal government has no business using my labor to pay for other people’s health care:.

Well then, you must be an enthusiastic supporter of what the right calls Obamacare because paying for other people’s health care is EXACTLY what you’re doing now to the tune of $40-$60 BILLION per year. The Patients’ Protect Act requires everyone to have their OWN health care coverage so that you, nor anyone else, has to pay for the full blown health care of 50 million uninsured.

Bear in mind the Obamacare plan is a reintroduction of the REPUBLICAN counter proposal to Bill Clinton’s laudable and far preferable efforts to bring a single-payer health care system to America. Not supporting the Patients’ Protection Act is an abandonment of your obligation to care for your children’s future and instead binds them to jobs they may not want oe spouses they can’t leave because of dependence on healthcare or it’s costs. It dooms them to servitude at the hands of health insurance industry that adds costs but provides no benefit to insurance.

If you love your kids you support President Obama’s efforts to rein in costs and give some real benefits to people paying the outrageously high costs of health care premiums. If you really loved them, you’d support Medicare-for-all see so they don’t be at the mercy of corporate bureaucrats or states’ Governors to assure they have coverage. but how much you do or don’t love your kids is for you to decide.

  3. Yeah, it’s a hoax.

“Can’t pay your student loan? Face it your parents were lazy and you couldn’t afford college. The world needs ditch diggers…”

  4. I don’t know if the alleged quote is real, but this 1/5/11 article by Matt Taibbi certainly takes the measure of the man and indicates that whether or not he stated this, it is most probably his belief system. It’s a long detailed article, but it is worthwhile because it shows that Boehner is hardly as powerless and stupid as we have been given cause to believe. He is indeed a dangerous threat to our country.

  5. I am of the opinion that the federal government has no business using my labor to pay for other people’s health care. However, suddenly ending the program would be evil with so many unprepared to take care of themselves. The best way,IMO, is to phase it out and admit that my kids will pay for a program their entire lives but never benefit from it, both social security and medicare. We allowed our politicians to write check we cannot cash and now we have to suffer the consequences — sadly.

  6. “President Obama says he wants to have an “adult conversation” about entitlement reform. So far, the most prominent Democrat to discuss Ryan’s budget has resorted to juvenile name-calling.

The Democrats’ leader in the House of Representatives tweets:

The #GOP Ryan budget is a path to poverty for America’s seniors & children and a road to riches for big oil #GOPvalues”

I fail to see the juvenile name-calling in this tweet … but then again, this is from that most prominent of news outlets, The Weekly Standard …

  7. smallgov guy, There is an political war going on in this country with independents in control. They seem to want to throw the party out that is in power every two years. It looks like the republicans in the house might be seen as over reaching with the government shut down and the proposal not to cut medicare but end it. This Ryan proposal is considered to be bold by the WSJ, but with so many seniors dependent on it, it is probably foolish politically.

  8. Pelosi Hoax ?

President Obama says he wants to have an “adult conversation” about entitlement reform. So far, the most prominent Democrat to discuss Ryan’s budget has resorted to juvenile name-calling.

The Democrats’ leader in the House of Representatives tweets:

The #GOP Ryan budget is a path to poverty for America’s seniors & children and a road to riches for big oil #GOPvalues

Leader Pelosi’s office sends out a press release:

Following a long-honored tradition, Republicans are masking the true impact of just what the GOP FY 2012 budget will do. Chairman Paul Ryan and House Republicans may claim their budget leads us down a “Path to Prosperity,” but the rhetoric doesn’t match up with the reality. Here are the facts on just what the GOP budget means for our country:

    · Path to eliminating guaranteed benefits for seniors under Medicare

    · Path to subsidies to oil companies and giveaways to special interests

    · Path to tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and companies that ship jobs overseas

  9. Yea what smallguvguy said. Can’t wait til they come out with the 2012 attack adds, Jon Stewart style 🙂

  10. It just feeds the division within our country. Team blue says “Teams red are Nazis, vote for me to protect you.” Team red say “Team blue are Socialists, vote for me to protect you.”
Until we realize that both parties are just power mad demagogues and take care of ourselves we deserve what we get.

  11. Swarthmore,

“One would hope the Ryan plan to end Medicare was a hoax but it isn’t.”

Not only Medicare but Medicaid and Social Security … In fact, Ryan’s whole budget is a joke. But, I suspect the teabaggers will pitch a major-league hissy it he tries to touch Medicare and SS … remember, “KEEP GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY!”

Sadly, I cannot make that one up …

  12. Professor that pic has got to be one of the all time greatest in my book.

Living through those years again now with a five year old and it is those times that just make you laugh while at the same time of having that look of astonishment.

    Thanks for sharing!!!!!!

  13. remarkably vicious? barely as cruel as what the king of orange is doing to this country…

  14. “the United States does not have to fear protests by citizens for better government because many are too “poor and lazy” to act.”

Whether he said this particular sentence or not, nobody could deny that it is not true. You will not see mass protests in this country, and it IS because the populace is far too lazy to do so.

The rest…well, John Boehner is a lunatic, and I have no doubt that he believes such things, but he isn’t a stupid guy. I very much doubt he said that.

  15. SL, I agree. One would hope the Ryan plan to end Medicare was a hoax but it isn’t.

  16. This may be a hoax but it wouldn’t surprise me of John of Orange really did say these things, being the compassionate, weepy guy and all that he is …

  17. I have refrained from passing on that story because it smells too hoaxy for me. Waiting for verification from Matt Taibbi or Rolling Stone.

  18. Must admit…it is kind of ironic…..Whats that kid doing that loves Andy Brightbart…Maybe he had a hand in it…
