Excessive Carry On: Irish National Arrested in Brazil After Ingesting 72 Bags

You will have to forgive the graphic picture but this extraordinary x-ray is a 20-year-old Irish national caught in Brazil after swallowing 72 bags of cocaine.

The man is identified only as P.B.B. and was arrested on Monday at Sao Paolo’s Congonhas airport.

The drugs were estimated to have been worth roughly $200,000.

The position of the police in such cases is “this too shall pass.” He will then stand trial on international drug trafficking charges.

  1. “The man is identified only as P.B.B.” I’ll bet that stands for Pablo Big Belly

    or ‘poisoned beyond belief’

  2. Those little red baggies are all the way up into the lung area. How is that even possible? Is there a doctor here who can explain this?

  3. Darby,

    Welcome.

Oh, I just loved Maria Under Grace. Was’t she pregnant and a mule?

Better than being pregnant by a mule in some places but not in others.

A wee bit of pregnancy and other blarney is our lot in life these daze.

  4. OMG! I’ve only seen images that skin-crawly in low budget horror movies. That’s playing Russian roulette with 72 bullets in the clip. As others observed, he’s lucky to be alive.

  5. A drug bust in reverse,Suspect sitting on toilet or whatever they are using and you have an officer in the room and every time a bag drops hey says OOOH OOOH!!

  6. Wow. …a picture’s worth a thousand words… or maybe 1000 grams, as the NPR story notes… Amazing. As BN said, he’s lucky to be alive… maybe… depending on his fate…

(From a nursing perspective, the photos are great… )
