23,000,000

We only recently passed the 22,000,000 mark last July but a few minutes ago we just hit 23,000,000. It continues to be a banner year for the site with a continuing increase in traffic, links on other sites, and new voices on the blog. These milestones are coming faster and they give us a chance to look at the spread of our regular readers and commentators. As always, I want to offer special thanks for our weekend contributors: Mark Esposito, Mike Appleton, Larry Rafferty, Charlton Stanley, Darren Smith, and Kimberly Deines. The increasing traffic on the site is gratifying and reaffirms that there are many people looking for mature and civil debate. Even among the top ten sites, I believe that we offer a unique forum of different views and backgrounds in the discussion of law and politics (and a few quirky items).

  2. Regarding demographics, I think where they matter is the life experiences they quantify. What the liberal Mafia had a hard time w/ me and others were our life experiences. I and a few others don’t fit into a box. I am a PI, small biz owner, history teacher, and other professions. I’ve lived in 7 states and 3 time zones. That stuff matters in how you see things and what you have to offer. When we were discussing Ferguson it would help to have black folk involved. We had none. Demographics should not be @ the top of the list, but it should be on the list.

    1. Nick – I would disagree with you on Ferguson. There should not be a ‘black’ side and a ‘white’ side. There should be a right side and a wrong side.

  4. I know you don’t like my demeanor, Olly. Been around, seen a lot, don’t miss much, know a lotta shit. But, I rub some folks the wrong way. If you think I’m wrong on something say it directly to me. I can handle it. If I’m wrong, I’ll admit it. I have done so here and in real life.

    Demographics matter because we’ve allowed ourselves to be measured by them. The only thing that should define us is our honor and commitment towards good citizenship. That’s sounds very naive given our current culture but what else should matter? They only thing I see in short supply in this blog is humility.

    Let us give credit where credit is due. As the ancillary bloggers deserve and have received gratitude for their adequate contributions, the attraction of this site is its principal and, breaking with liberals, his recognition of “overreach” and other violations of the Constitution that persist. One can only hope that he will be compelled by honor and ethics to make greater and more comprehensive revelations about the circumvention and nullification of the literal Preamble, Constitution and Bill of Rights (intended to conclude all amending for which the purpose was to address the abuse of power by the government against the “citizens” lest the very Constitution itself be destroyed) in the future.

    A Constitutional scholar knows that the law must prevail over sentiment.

  8. Well, people relate information about themselves. When we have discussions on race we used to have an occasional black person or 2 comment, but now they’re even gone. Socioeconomic. we have leej and maybe a couple other lower income. But, a year or so ago we had a VERY contentious thread on food stamps. A new guy was RIDICULED. He identified himself on the thread as being on food stamps and seeing rampant fraud. The liberal Mafia ran him off. I keep in touch w/ him and hope he comes back. I have mentioned here @ least 20 times that we need black and poor folk and no one has jumped out and said, “I’m black, I’m poor.” Finally, although I am ridiculed by people w/ few skills, I pick up on stuff others don’t. That’s why liars, cheats, phony’s squirm in my presence. I can smell them a mile away. All that said, do you think we have any regular black folk or many poor people? YOU’RE sharp and YOU don’t have a chip on your shoulder. I would be interested in YOUR assessment.

  10. The diversity is what makes this blog interesting. That’s why it has grown so much this year. You should be proud of your hard work, integrity and courage in making the tough decisions to open this blog up to varied voices. But, we still have much room for improvement. We need more minority and lower income people. Still too white and upper middle class.

  13. I was first drawn to this blog watching the Professor testify before Congress. I was intrigued that he could agree with this President’s ends and disagree with his means. I have recommended this blog to others looking to get out of their comfort zone and be challenged by robust debate. This is a great opportunity to learn. Thank you Professor.
