There are some people who really do not need counsel. Eighty-year-old Dolores Sheinis entirely charms Judge John Hurley in the course of setting a home monitoring condition and protective order.
The case involves her former husband and what appears to be an apartment that predated their divorce.
My favorite moment is when Judge Hurley says: ‘You’ve brightened my day m’am'” and she responds “That’s what the last guy said.”

Tyger, I agree with your theory. I too wonder what the ex husband did to get her so upset. She said something about him presuming that because he once paid for the apartment he thought he could tell her what to do with it? Her daughter could’ve been a bit more supportive, IMO, but I don’t know the backstory either. Delores seemed quite lucid, but a bit flustered, can anyone blame her, being in jail and in front of a judge? That restraining order was 30 years old. This is the first time she violated it? How did she “resist” arrest? Knowing cops nowadays, who knows.
Some people are victims in their own sick minds, while being the true victimizers. It takes all kinds. I hope this poor woman has family that loves her and is a good support system to her. Troubled people put their families through hell and it takes very decent and kind people to put up with them for many years, or they become part of the dysfunction.
I’m sure when you get her age, the less you put up with the spit society gives you and how they treat you. She’s probably more rational than they are with all their confining rules and restrictions. The ex-husband probably did something to warrant her ire and he no doubt holds all the high cards. Then the worse she gets treated by him and the legal system, the more she reacts to the injustices and resists the efforts to constrain her. Instead of trying to help her solve the real problems she is facing in life, they simply point to the rules and say they have to confine her in some way. And this apparently includes the daughter. They are the crazy ones, not her. There is likely a very enlightening back-story behind all of this. Today’s social environment is often heartless in the way it treats the oldest generations, whether senile dementia is a factor or not.
Tyger – I was at a doctor’s office about a month ago when they trotted out more paper work for me to fill in. I refused, saying I was too old to put with that crap, I had already spend several hours filling in info for their online site, what more could they want?
DBQ, I’m glad a good woman like yourself pointed this out. When women stalk/abuse men it is often laughed about. Being a victim of a stalking woman, I can tell you it is hell.
TY, We knew marrying a lawn boy/dog molester just wouldn’t work out. But, I didn’t think there would be police/court involvement.
@ Pogo & Paul
She violated a restraining order to keep her way from her ex husband and then resisted arrest. Age is no barrier to crazy.
To those who wonder how dangerous she could be at her age……there at least 50 ways to leave your lover….or kill your ex husband. Gun, run him over with a car, burn down the house, bomb the place, poison his food…….
Sounds like she is really unstable and needs to be watched for her own and everyone else’s safety.
DBQ – just saying “What?” when they say you are under arrest is now considered Resisting Arrest. I place no faith in Resisting Arrest charges. 🙂 It is just piling on.
She should go back to blogging but I don’t think she should be a law professor anymore. Just sayn’
I hope that this woman gets the proper care for whatever mental issues she may have.
Give some credit to the (straight man) judge…, he played his role very well.
I really wonder why she ended up there to begin with. At at 80 she is really not that old, so what is the deal. She is certainly mobile. Sending her for the psych eval was a CYA.
I wonder what she actually did. She sounds nuts.
Barkin, In some areas of Florida it sounds like you’re in NY. All old folks going to the early bird special. People go to Florida to die. That’s why we spend winters in San Diego. You go there to live.
The shitbirds behind Sophie Tucker, awaiting arraignment, loved her act.
I would have squeezed granny for the banana pie and chili recipes.
Thanks for the update, Inga.
You people on Planet Earth in Florida need your heads examined. Get rid of that Judge in a New York minute. Can someone provide his mailing address? US Mail not email. I need to send him some urdTays.

Oops, not such a good ending. The judge sentenced her to a mental health facility. How much harm could this old lady do to her ex I wonder?
I guess Mr.Sheinis didn’t have a sense of humor, his loss it seems.
It looks like she is in a jail uniform. The judge should be in one now. I like the way the other inmates crack up. Turdy turd and a turd (NYC yak) at its finest.
“That’s what the last guy said…and then he sued me.” Classic. Got to wonder how this woman ended up in front of a judge. Are we really criminalizing Octogenarian women nowadays? Maybe next it’ll be “And then they came for me.”
