Just when I thought that I could not get more depressed about humanity, Fortune Magazine released its second annual list of the “extraordinary men and women.” The greatest female leader? Taylor Swift. Not German Chancellor Andrea Merkel. Taylor Swift. She was just two below Pope Francis.
Fortune Magazine selected those people who “are transforming business, government, philanthropy, and so much more.” The list was (1) Apple C.E.O. Tim Cook, (2) European Central Bank president Mario Draghi, (3) People’s Republic of China president Xi Jinping, (4) Pope Francis, and (5)India prime minister Narendra Modi. Then at 6 comes Taylor Swift according to Fortune.
Fortune based its ranking on the fact that Swift “the highest-paid woman in the music business.” After all what has Merkel done? She does not have a single POPS song to her credit.
@Ingannie
Why do you keep making up imaginary sh*t to justify your hatred of Christians and Christianity??? The issue at hand is NOT imaginary, It is REAL. Some people realistically and honestly think that homosexuality is a sin and that marriage is a sacrament. Heck, just a few years ago most people felt the same way, They are REAL. They exist. I don’t believe like they do. But I don’t see why they should be forced to accept this latest faddsish obsession with sodomy as the greatest thing since sliced bread, Why do I want to play silly Ingannie games of “well, what if???”
F*ck all your silly hypothetical crap. What about these REAL people??? Don’t they have rights??? Deal with the here and now. Do you really want to force a 60 year old woman who is a devout Christian to make a wedding cake for a wedding she thinks is the epitome of abomination???
You are going down the same road as the stupid Libertarians, creating esoteric theories while ignoring reality.

And Squeeky the bullying that just got backfired on was this RFRA. Why do you think so many corporations threatened boycotting Indiana? Most people loath bigotry, it’s a slap in the face of Democracy.
Because Squeeky anybody can hide underneath the skirts of any religion to express their personal bigotry. I could create the Church of Anti Squeeky and try to push legislation that would deny service to people who are named Squeeky. Or I could discriminate against fat, short Hillary Clinton supporters, or people with extremely high pitched voices, so many things to hate about people. Need more laws allowing discrimination, never enough laws to protect bigots!
Squeeky
I agree with your sentiment completely.
It’s similar to when people prop-up Steve Jobs as a guy who wanted economic development, but was fine collecting tons of money off the backs of low-wage workers in poor working conditions with little or no hope of future economic development.
The principles of an American capitalist are clear, though. If there is money to be made, status to be gained, reputation to be boosted, to hell with democracy, rule of law, human rights, principles, etc.
Lets get our own, for our legacy is the thought process.
@Ingannie
You asked, “So because you have your personal low opinion about gays, you think it’s correct to allow merchants to deny them service?”
Are you unable to read and comprehend English??? I explained my position above. Try clearing your prejudiced mind, and reading it a couple of times.
Thank you!

Sooo, what are gays, a bunch of copyright trolls looking for a lawsuit??? If Bakery #1 doesn’t want to bake them a cake, let them go to Bakery#2. Why do you feel you should be able to force people to accept behavior that their religion teaches is an abomination??? Christian bakers have rights, too.
But, you and the gays should keep on forcing the issue, because it is going to backfire on you. It may not look that way from the overt stuff you see on TV or read on the net, but down there in the real world, more and more people are going to develop hostile feelings against gays for this kind of bullying crap.

Squeeky,
So because you have your personal low opinion about gays, you think it’s correct to allow merchants to deny them service? Are you saying gay people are going to engage in sexual acts in a bakery while they are picking their wedding cake? There certainly ARE messed up people, they aren’t all gay. From your comment, that’s quite evident.
I think to put someone on a pedestal because of their named position demonstrates the poverty our imagination and intellect.
TJustice I agree with you
I think to put someone on a pedestal because of their named position demonstrates the poverty our imagination and intellect.
@Ingannie
Me, not sharing your OPINION about gays does not make me a bigot. What you and others call “discrimination” is a very broad and vague term when it is applied to conduct. You don’t have that vagueness when it is applied to what people are, such as Black.
But when you get into applying it to what people DO, then things get murky. Religion, for example, is something that people DO. Sooo, we have confusion over whether or not a Sikh kid can wear a dagger to school, or whether a Muslim woman can work at a store wearing a burkha, We don’t have those same confusions about whether someone from India or Iraq should be treated the same as everybody else because of their national origin, or ethnicity.
With gays, all we have to identify them is their conduct, And even that is iffy as I have explained before. I think a person is absolutely entitled to refuse them service if they find their behavior sinful and the service at issue is directly related to something considered a sacrament, like marriage. On the other hand, I would have some problems with people refusing to sell gays a can of pork and beans, because that kind of stuff can get out of hand.
As for me, I don’t find gays so much sinful, as I do inane, silly, and messed up, and in the case of gay men, nasty and filthy. It is part and parcel of booty sex. Therefore, I do not care to associate with them, and though I love to drink and dance, I will not go to a gay bar, even though my friends say the music and the scene is fantastic. I think there is a sufficient reasonable basis for my OPINION, particularly with the large number of HIV positive gay men.
Let’s apply it something sexual besides gayness. Assume Hans is a well-known m*sturbator, having been arrested on several occasion for whacking off in public. Hans comes into your nail salon, and want a manicure. I think a person is justified in telling him to go elsewhere. I just don’t find anything wrong with that.
And, don’t you also approve of discriminatory conduct when it comes to “conduct.” You are all for discriminating against Indiana for their conduct in passing this law.

Bruce Jenner was robbed. What kind of cruel and upside down world are we living in where a person wins the gold medal male decathlon, fathers several children, plays a father on a reality TV show and yet is denied the well deserved recognition of being an extraordinary woman?
The oppressive society we live in is biased against women who have a penis and “Y” chromosomes. I say we start a petition to make sure Bruce gets recognized as an extraordinary woman. Who is with me?
Squeeky
Sorry but is Cook supposed to speak out about protecting rights in his own Nation or is he supposed to STFU? It sounds like you wish the latter… Now, what agenda does that serve?
Annie
You know where else the State places faith above individual Liberty? Saudi Arabia…
Why yes Annie… You hit the nail.
It’s a Librul conspiracy to homo-sex-you-alls…
That is a very good point. Why doesn’t Apple boycott countries that give homosexuals the death penalty?
It’s the liberals favorite thing. Hypocrisy.

That’s the thing. Normal people admire Taylor Swift. The militant progressives admire Lena Dunham.
Two totally different world views that can never be reconciled.
Oh, and isn’t Tim Cook, the gay head of Apple sooo very special!

Squeeky, yikes your bigotry overrides intelligent things you sometimes say. Seriously why are you so threatened by homosexuals? And Squeeky the corporations that threatened boycotts were not all “sodomites”…. Or were they? Or were they people who despised bigotry?
@ingannie
No, it’s not the boycott that is affecting Indiana. The sodomites and their girl equivalents are only about 2% of the population, so their ability to financially harm anybody is very limited. And frankly, most people I know could care less if a bunch of sodomites stayed away. That would be a good thing!
The real issue is the intimidation factor. The overpowering fear that somebody will say bad things about anybody who sticks up for the poor little Christian baker who doesn’t want to bake a wedding cake for a couple of sodomites. We have become like North Korea on this issue, and if anybody doesn’t cry enough about the poor cakeless sodomites, then they are in for it!
And then we wonder why Taylor Swift is the most admired woman.
LOL.
