Police Search For Suspect Who Assaulted 63-Year-Old Man and Stole $1

7889270_G D.C. police are searching for this man who was shown on a video (below) assaulted a 63-year-old man and knocking him out — and then robbing him of $1.

The video was found on a surveillance camera on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The attacker is shown first speaking with the victim and then suddenly knocking him out. He then picks up what appears to be change on the ground.

The victim suffered a laceration and bruise but was later released.

It obviously could have been far worse and the danger is that this man clearly has not only a violent disposition but an uncontrollable violent disposition — making him a serious threat to the public.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call D.C. police at 202-727-9099. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction for the person in this robbery.

  1. Why the cops searching for this guy?

He is obviously a fine young man who is getting his life together and will be applying for college very shortly. This is just another case of the government conspiring to incarcerate minorities over trivial matters. It was only a dollar!

This is a mere bag of shells Norton.

    No justice no peace.

There is no meanness in pointing out that there are internal, core problems within these communities that cannot be explained away by always blaming outside forces. In fact, these problems exist and will continue to do so unless and until some serious introspection is performed.

  3. Squeeky

    Lol!

I know that he was well-respected and loved by many, but, I must admit, this guy creeped me out. May he rest in peace, but something always seemed askew with him. I guess that I can only compare my feelings, with regard to him, as similar to those with a bizarre and inexplicable fear of clowns. No justification for it, but real, nonetheless.

  4. Bam Bam – Who’s apologizing? The video is a clear case of violent assault.

  5. pogo

You are on target. The apologists for this subhuman behavior will constantly blame the oppressive white man and his repressive society for everything that is wrong in these communities. Lack of jobs, inadequate welfare programs, the low minimum wage, etc., are all part of the expected narrative to excuse away the ongoing and ever increasing violent crime in black neighborhoods. Those on here, too dimwitted or too blind to catch your drift, will attack your observations as bigoted and prejudiced. Could it possibly be that black lives just don’t matter to them, as they refuse to address the crime and destruction rampant in these communities? Introspection is a term rarely, if ever, used in the narrative espoused.

  6. Pogo hears a who… What does welfare and minimum wage have to do with violent assault? By the way using a cultural icon as an avatar doesn’t enhance your opinion. Walt Kelly was a gentle man and a keen observer of human nature. You not so much.

    1. Tom – you do not have an avatar and neither do I. So do we represent nothing?

  7. I would give the number to call on Wall Street execs that crashed our economy, but wait our grand legal system wouldn’t do anything about it. Thanks JT for letting me know how awesome my system is that it can get a small-time criminal. Great work.

  8. Find the guy in the wheelchair, find the perp. It appears as though they may have been together.

  9. The majority of crimes I investigated in KC were black on black crime, just like this one. There needs to be a values intervention in the black community. No more money, no more cops, they need some REAL leaders and a lotta tough love. Dems used to believe in tough love when I was growing up. They are now enablers.

  10. It was especially heartwarming to see the sincere concern for the victim by all the bystanders.

But I’m sure the appropriate answer is to increase welfare payments or raise the minimum wage.

  12. It looks like the robbery was just an afterthought. He hit the guy for an unrelated reason.

  13. Shocking the damage an unarmed man can do. Say a similar unarmed man approached a woman carrying a gun legally (not Baltimore, obviously), and she pulled her gun to warn him away and he persisted. If she shot him rather than subjecting herself to the assault, she would be blamed and likely indicted. And if he were African-American and she were not, it could set off riots, the president would weigh in, and the DoJ would start an investigation, because the local LEOs and DAs would not be considered adequate punishments. Her family’s lives would be threatened and vandalism of their property would be likely.

It’s best to stay away from aggressive, troubled people if you can. It’s not always possible. Let’s just hope the boulder never falls on one of us. I do not come from a line of people who lie down and die when threatened or attacked, but it may be the better option.

  14. Hope he’s caught soon. Hope the Blacks that were around the old man turn him in on basis of identification.

Man… A lot of people are going to have a field day on the YouTube comments section.

  15. Stalin may or may not have said: “When one dies, it is a tragedy. When a million die, it is a statistic.” As lamentable as it is to see an old man assaulted and robbed of a dollar, it is more lamentable that less is done about war profiteers and banksters stealing billions and the death and displacement of millions as a result of wars of aggression. We tend to focus on the suffering of the one than the agony of the many.

  16. One of the problems with mugging someone is that you never are sure how much you are going to get. I am sure that was the problem here. I hope they catch the guy soon.

  17. On “Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue” no less. I’m going to guess Dr. King’s message hasn’t quite found its way into this young man’s consciousness.
