We have periodically discussed the use of diplomatic immunity to avoid criminal conduct in the United States. The latest such case occurred in Beverly Hills where two men raced a white Porsche 911 and a yellow Ferrari LaFerrari through the streets of the city — running stop signs and barely missing pedestrians. When the yellow car was followed to a $10 million home, the driver threatened the reporter and claimed diplomatic immunity — allegedly adding “F*** America” for good measure. He even allegedly told the reporter that he could murder him and not be held accountable.
Video journalist Jacob Rogers followed the man as he pulled his smoking race car into a driveway. He said that the driver said “I could have you killed and get away with it.”
A new LaFerrari could cost as much as $5 million. Police are discussing the case with United States State Department and the owners of the home refuse to speak to the media. However, the license plate of the Ferrari belonged to Qatar.

How about we get a diplomat from the UK’s embassy to trash this guy’s car and then claim diplomatic immunity? Would that work?

This is a BRILLIANT idea.. 😀
Nick – one stayed in his car and bet the cops home. The other tried to take the cops gun away from him.
I’m sensing some good ol’ fashioned hypocrisy here. Michael Brown attacks a cop and some folks want the cop in prison. This guy just mouths off and you want him thrown out of the country. Both Michael Brown and this guy are/were entitled jerks. One had a Ferrari. The other was walking.
Time for a deportation. When he claims he could kill someone and get away with it…
Quite right ND. The guy could become a target. It would be good if he became a target. Let’s hope he becomes a target.
To those who still like to think that America-hatred in the Middle East is a due to economic and educational disadvantages: guess again. Don’t think for a moment that the wealthy and well-educated would hesitate to separate your head from your shoulders.
The U.S. Can expell him but since he hates Americans, our president and state department think alike, I doubt he will be expelled. This policy needs to be changed.
Even for serious crimes, the most a country can generally do is expel the offender. That’s what Britain did in late January with Anil Verma — a high ranking Indian diplomat in London who is accused of brutally assaulting his wife on multiple occasions. Verma is still an employee of the Indian Administrative Service, and it’s not yet clear whether charges will be filed against him in India.
A diplomat’s home country can waive his diplomatic immunity in particularly egregious cases. In 1997, Gueorgui Makharadze, formerly the second-highest-ranking diplomat at the Georgian Embassy in Washington, had his diplomatic immunity waived after he killed a Maryland teenager in a drunk driving accident.
Makharadze had gotten out of a drunk-driving charge the previous year by claiming diplomatic immunity. He was sentenced to 21 years in prison and was later transferred to Georgia to finish his sentence.
Leave a few CMU’s in the road. that will spoil their day.

M1 Abrams Tank Vs Jihadist Terrorist car. Send video to insurance adjuster.
@BitchinDog, Yes. This blog used to be about issues of law. Now it is mostly about sensationalism and/or cutsies.
Well that does it. I am not going to Qatar for the World Cup. I will not sit in the middle of the desert with millions of neanderthals, in the blistering heat, trying to keep my mouth shut about magic horses I have known. Nope.
Typically the a**hole of a country that has diplomatic immunity gets yarded back to his home country when something like this happens, either first due to the common sense of his or her country or if none exists the offended country will toss him. Unfortunately, the idiot won’t get charged. Now where is the stand your ground law when you need it. Wasn’t Wayne the Peter there armed to the teeth. He could have blown the sucker away and that would have really been hard to argue against.
Sure, this guy the police don’t shoot. Now, that would be a public service. Apparently, Arab lives matter more.
As an aside, wasn’t there anyone without an accent in that neighborhood they could’ve interviewed?
Diplomatic immunity is a license to commit crimes. Encouraging “diplomats” (or foreign troops, as the case may be) to commit crimes is similar to Joyce Mitchell giving escape tools to incarcerated felons.
This is a daily occurrence on the streets of London..rich Saudis, Qataris and others blast through stop lights and roar down lanes in their sports cars. Their plats are in Arabic and bear their countries name. Police are powerless. Where are they speeding …to the next club to drink or smoke their hookahs. Any humans who wishes to live has to get out of the way.
Pile on some charges. Terrorism. Making terroristic threats. Aiding, harboring and abetting terrorism with the intent to kill.
Qatar: A slave state and partner with Obama in perpetrating the horrors in Syria: Don’t expect anything decent from them.
Can’t Diplomatic Immunity can be revoked by the home country?
I do not quite get it that a new car would cost such and such and why that relates to the issue.
The article is goofy and the articles on the blog in the last few days have been goofy.
It would be quite unfortunate if his LaFerrari threw a rod after that stunt.
If there was in fact diplomatic immunity I see him being declared persona non-grata. Or at least I would hope.
