Police Charge 13-Year-old Boy With Assault for Kissing Girl On A Dare

PrisonCellWe have yet another child criminally charged for something that at one time would have been treated as a mere conduct issue warranting a note to a parent. In Pikesville, Maryland, a 13-year-old will be charged with second-degree assault for kissing a 14-year-old girl on a dare. This absurd case began with school officials calling police who pursued the minor on criminal assault charges.

The child is now facing a second-degree assault charge as a juvenile.

There is no question that this warrants discipline but a criminal charge?

What do you think?

  1. ” It would appear boys rough housing may bring out the same response in women, w/ all this conflating of boys rough housing w/ each other and French kissing. We may have learned something new today. What ever floats your boat.”

DBQ, he says we were “conflating rough housing with French kissing”. Does this “float your boat” as he says? It doesn’t float mine, lol.

  2. Karen, The Bergdahl parents were paraded in the Rose Garden when Obama was in trouble politically and looking for a photo op. Now, the Army is charging Bo w/ some of the most serious charges for a soldier since WW2. Remember when Obama was just 10 minutes from the Mexican border and didn’t go see the problems he’s caused because “I don’t do photo ops.” What a crock of feces.

On a funny note. My German bride is the packer. When we flew home from Colorado on Monday we had TSA pre which made my day. But, the agent called me aside. My bride put my pocket knife/corkscrew in the carry on instead of the checked bag. We were both pleased they found it, worth losing the $10 item.

  3. Why didn’t Obama invite the family of the young woman murdered by an illegal alien in San Francisco, who died in his father’s arms?

Does anyone notice the agenda he is quite open about in regards to who he invites to the WH for some good PR, and which criminal cases he preliminarily comments on?

I remember that Bush quietly carried around in his pocket the badge of one of the 9/11 first responders who died. His family asked him to never forget their son, and he never did. He carried it the rest of his time in office.

If you show up at the airport with a homemade clock made by stuffing circuitry into a pencil case, everyone is going to freak out and the bomb squad is going to show up. If someone at the school legitimately thought it might be a bomb, and frankly a ticking box full of wires at a school could be worrisome, than they were right to have it checked out by police. They used to make transistor radios and clocks in shop class when I was in school, but perhaps that is no longer the case.

Once it was proven to be a harmless clock made by a clever student, then of course the student should be in no trouble, commended on his ingenuity, and have a discussion on what type of items can be brought to school

  4. hsk, When women fight each other men can get stimulated, thinking that the women may then spontaneously start kissing. Cosmo Kramer had a hilarious line in Seinfeld about that. It would appear boys rough housing may bring out the same response in women, w/ all this conflating of boys rough housing w/ each other and French kissing. We may have learned something new today. What ever floats your boat.

  5. This should have been dealt with via a simple discussion with the principal about boundaries. Boys go through that awkward stage where they try and abandon ways to get a girl’s attention such as kissing on a dare. To criminalize this is absurd, and injurious to the child.

  6. DBQ said…
“However, there is a line between fun rough housing among the boys at play and forcing yourself on someone against their will.”

  7. Interesting how DBQ made the same distinction between rough housing and forced French kissing that I did, lol.

  8. I am reminded of Lt. Frank Drebin’s line, “No, I don’t speak French, but I do like to kiss that way.” Was that a microaggression on Frank’s part?

  9. DBQ, I consider the rough housing discussion separate from this French kissing stuff that was inserted into the stream and of which I was unaware.

  10. hsk, As we all just witnessed, you and I can have a general discussion about boys and their needs and it gets manipulated into something entirely different about French kissing. Some folks are so self absorbed they assume everyone reads what they have written. I hardly ever read what some people here write because one never gets that time back, and time is a finite resource for we humans.

Regarding your good, intelligent comment. I went back to college in the late 90’s. The colleges of education are run, in large part, by man hating feminists. As you might imagine, they were a bit taken aback by my presence. LOL!

  11. The War Against Boys by Christine Hoff Sommers is a must read for any parent w/ a boy being subjected to the education industry in this country.

I don’t disagree that there seems to be a real and coordinated effort to suppress young boy’s and men’s natures. There have been lots of books and studies about the phenomenon and the consequences.

However, there is a line between fun rough housing among the boys at play and forcing yourself on someone against their will. This goes for boys manhandling other boys and boys manhandling girls. This goes for the girls too. Keep your hands off of other people. Personal space people!!! Common courtesy and good manners dictate that you keep your hands to yourself and do not force your presence on those who do not want it.

Parents should teach their children that there are boundaries. If not, they can expect to see someone someday deck their son/daughter and beat the tar out of them…..or worse.

Yes. Boys by nature tend to want to have more active play. Physical activities and being forced into a quiet, passive mold is only going to cause greater frustrations that will explode in later years. Girls and boys are not interchangeable and need different environments and different types of stimulation.

Plus…….If the boys want to get kissed or more…..I suggest a bit more subtlety in their approach. /wink.

Where is affirmative action when we really need it? Have feminazis taken over primary ed?

    ************************
Anyone who uses the pejorative “feminazi” really doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously.

    1. Inga – it is the dare or double dare that is the important thing in this case. Keep your eye on the ball.

  13. http://www.rawstory.com/2015/09/irving-mayor-defends-arrest-of-muslim-teen-with-clock-to-the-best-of-my-knowledge-they-followed-protocol/ “The anti-Muslim Republican mayor of Irving, Texas released a statement on Wednesday without a word of apology or sympathy for the 14-year-old science student who was arrested because school officials thought the digital clock he built was a bomb.

At around 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon Mayor Beth Van Duyne posted a statement to Facebook in which she said that the school district had erred in calling police on student Ahmed Mohamed, but did not offer a formal apology to Mohamed or his family.” She is well known for being anti-Muslim, and she is proud of it.

  15. hsk, I taught 8th grade in a middle school. ALL the other teachers were women. The principal was a woman. The only guys were me and the janitor. The way the teachers and principal tried to feminize the 8th grade boys was despicable. These kids were JUST BEING BOYS. Boys can be rough. I pitied the sons of those teachers.

  16. I don’t think anyone has said some discipline wasn’t warranted. What us “normals”[quoting the Veep phrase] are saying is this should have been handled in house. Of course, “in house” means education bureaucrats deciding. Two bad options, really.
