House GOP primary candidate Kay Daly is challenging Rep. Renee Ellmers in North Carolina clearly has a different view of what constitutes a high calibre candidate. The former N.C. GOP spokeswoman and congressional aide is running an advertisement that says that she does not just oppose RINOs (“Republican In Name Only”) but wants to bag them . . . literally.
The new ad attacks Ellmers and shows her in unflattering images while warning voters that she is a “feminist” and a “RINO” — including votes “to let homosexuals pretend they’re married.”
This is not the first time that a candidate has pitched their candidacy at the business end of a shotgun — though Democratic candidates appear to prefer hunting elephants.
For her part, Ellmer seems to draw a lively set of opponents. In 2014, she defeated former American Idol star Clay Aiken with 58.9 percent of the vote.

She sounds like an idiot. This is a new low for political campaigns, and that’s saying something. Of course, this is nothing to local CA politics. You should see who shows up to run. Angeline has run at least once, in her 70s still wearing micro mini skirts.
Max – I know an animal trainer who has a rhino who is as sweet as a golden retriever. He will follow you around for pets and scratches. You just have to be careful that his horn doesn’t sweep you off your feet when he’s sniffing around your shoes. Had no idea they could be so sweet. He had his own pet hen until he rolled over on her at night.

Had it not been for JT posting this story, most of us would have not seen this ad. If it appeals to her constituents then it has done it’s job. For crying out loud, pray that this is the worst ad you see all season; it will certainly get worse.
The irony of this is that the real “RINO’s” formerly were known as Southern Democrats, who have taken over the historic Republican party based in the upper Midwest and Northeast. In the 60’s and 70’s the old-line Republicans made a Faustian bargain with the likes of Strom Thurmond and other Southerners to regain power. The historic Republican party was the “party of Lincoln” while the Southern Democrats were the party of Jim Crow. In effect the George Wallace party merged with the Republicans after 1968 and became the dominant force in the party. The result was a shift of the core from those with conservative economic concerns to a core of bible-thumping social conservatives.
There is a RINO in my state she can go after. He really needs to be primaried.
I think for the money she has in her coffers it is a great ad. It seems to be an outlier election.

To eliminate any misunderstanding, I’d like to stipulate that Prof. Turley’s reference to Democrats that ‘prefer to shoot elephants’ – the elephant was a pinata. And it was 1 (one) Democrat, thereby making the use of ‘Democrats’ inaccurate.

So what’s wrong with this ad? It clearly appeals to the candidate’s constituency, their love for guns, their lack of intelligent discrimination in political advertising, and their issues as GOP conservatives in that area. Much of the country will likely be voting by a different, new set of rules when the next election rolls around.
Garbage in. Garbage out.
It is no wonder Congress’ approval rating is 14% with monkeyshines such as these. Her ad is quite insulting to the intelligences of her prospective constituents and that alone calls her suitability into serious question.
The closer we get toward the election, the less I watch television because I reach my limit with inane political ads after about the first one. So I watch PBS and DVDs and switch over to a text based web-browser for reading the internet.
