MSNBC Reporter Asks Protester How Best To “Neutralize” The Trump Threat To Democracy and Make “Our” Voices Heard

Screen Shot 2017-04-17 at 11.32.42 AMI have been writing about the surprising bias shown in coverage of the Trump Administration. While I strongly disagree with Trump’s portrayal of the media and believe that much of the negative coverage is legitimate coverage of Administration missteps and controversies, the media appears to be losing sight of its navigational beacons in pursing Trump like some “great white” out of Moby Dick.  The latest example is an interview of actress Debra Messing by MSNBC reporter Morgan Radford during the Tax Day Protests.  (For the record, I agree that Trump should disclose his tax records and that his rationale of being audited is not a compelling legal basis for withholding the records).  In the course of the interview, Radford not only refers to “our voices” in agreement with the protesters but refers to the Trump Administration as threatening democracy.

In the interview available here, the former “Will & Grace” star objects to how  American democracy was “attacked and infiltrated by Russia.” Radford then follows her comments by asking about the “best way to make our voices heard” in order to “neutralize” the threat posed by the “current administration to democracy.”

In a recent column, I wrote about how the media seems to be struggling with notions of neutrality in coverage of the Administration.  I also believe that the allegations of Russian interference should be investigated (though as I previously wrote we have a long history of even greater forms of interference in other countries).  At one time, such statements would have resulted in outrage from the media, which has long jealously protected its neutrality in coverage. Now it seems commonplace that a national reporter would refer to “our” voices in protests and describe the current Administration as a threat to democracy.

I am perfectly willing to accept the interview as a major slip or unguarded moment, but there should be some official response to such coverage to reaffirm that reporters are not advocates in coverage.

What do you think?

  1. What is surprising, or maybe not, is that people will still smarmily snark about FOXNews being a partisan outfit, totally blind to this type of blatant partisanship. I guess most people see what they want to see.

    1. “Katrina the Bitch” is what people who work for her call her. She has never smiled.

  2. JT the first sentence ” writing about the surprising bias ” at this point there’s “surprise” about main stream bias? They were bias before the election and since their big election loss they don’t try one bit to cover the fact they’re bias. No one should be surprised.

    1. Zambini, JT was awakened and enlightened just recently, so this all remains “surprising” to him.

  3. How did Russia attack and infiltrate our election? At worst, they are accused of leaking factual information about the Democratic Party. There are claims that some of the leaks were inside jobs from whistleblowers, but who knows? Whose to say a Russian operative didn’t sit next to a disgruntled Bernie supporter and nudge them in the direction of doing something about it? Assange would have no idea if any of his sources were encouraged by a spy or even an agent themselves, or an asset.

They did not hack the election. They did not interfere with the voting process. At worst, they shone the light of public scrutiny on the Establishment dirty tricks of the DNC. We already had plenty of dirt on Trump.

The meme seems to be how dare they tell us the truth!!! We wanted to be ignorant! If we were only ignorant than Hilary would have won, and then those who wish they’d known the truth before the election would be out of luck!

And may I say that, at some point, the Professor may have to consider abandoning his usual practice of prefacing his criticism of media bias with the remark that he was surprised. It’s been more than a decade since the media has been firmly a Democratic mouthpiece. At some point, it’s no longer surprising, but depressingly usual.

I miss the straight news on TV. Just the facts, and let us mere mortal viewers figure out opinions for ourselves.

    1. And I also agree that Trump should have released his tax returns.

There is nothing to fear from claiming every single deduction and tax shelter that was legally available. Otherwise, he should have fired his CPAs. That’s what we all do. We traipse down to the tax preparer’s, lured by promises not to pay a dime more than we owe. That behavior doesn’t stop when you become successful. You STILL don’t want to pay a dime more than you owe. That’s called being responsible and thrifty with your money, saving it to spend how you see fit, such as giving it to charity or building your dream indoor arena with perfect footing, lighting, dust control, stands, oh, and an announcer’s booth! Sorry…got caught up fantasizing.

    2. The FBI has 100 people investigating russiagate and at this point we know very little.

  4. There is no mainstream press anymore as the election amply showed. There are just pockets of advocates on either side with great makeup, a camera man (person?) a list of talking points to say and a cafeteria-style ethics worldview. Journalism died when Dan Rather decided he was a bigger story than the President he was covering. All the rest of the “bubble-headed bleach blondes” (as Don Henley said) have followed suit:

  5. Professor Turley uses the tu quoque fallacy in noting that the US also intervenes in the internal affairs of other countries. That is historically correct but does not justify Russian intervention in our affairs.

  6. It is so nice not to have a Clinton or Bush as leader. Russian election rigging has been a red herring since day one. Most of the country when polled said “country is going in the wrong direction”. The country is in debt and divided. Thank goodness there is no TPP – Trans-Pacific Partnership.

  7. I am a “liberal” who is accepting of Trump. By “liberal” I am for civil rights and some form of socialized medicine. But I do not like welfare cheats, housing projects, street gangs, or lame views of education. But I am for restoring jobs and dealing with foreign competition. Pence is a good one.
The Democrats do not have many good people rising to the fore.
The new Trump Party will change things forever. Old RepublCons who are tied to the Koch Brothers and snort coke are going off to the side of the pasture.
We have to be wary of the Military Industrial Complex.

  8. You claim to be surprised by what you refer to as media bias. Jonathan: Trump is fundamentally flawed in almost every possible way, and disregarding this would, in and of itself, be biased. He is fundamentally flawed as a person and completely unfit emotionally and ethically to be President. It cannot be disputed that his presidency is illegitimate: more people voted against him than for him and his campaign did collaborate with the Russians. It’s not a matter of “missteps” or errors: he doesn’t deserve to be President of the United States, and this is reflected in the reporting by most media outlets, with few exceptions. He is a genuinely defective person and has done a terrible job, and will continue doing so. He might just start WW III due to his ego and need for affirmation. Ignoring the enormity of this pathologic aberration would be biased. Why don’t you wake up to the reality of this?

Let’s begin with him as a person: he not only publicly admitted to serially sexually assaulting women, he actually bragged about it. He behaves like a spoiled child when he doesn’t get his way. He alluded to the size of his penis (how “Presidential” is that?). He refuses to be accountable in any way, shape or form, including releasing his tax returns and holding press conferences, because the few he has done expose his shortcomings. Reasons for not releasing his tax returns likely include the fact that he’s nowhere near as wealthy as he would like people to believe. He might also have taken illegal deductions, and likely paid little in taxes relative to reported income, which could turn people against him. Also, it might lead to proof of his collaboration with Russians and what they expect to receive in return for helping him steal Hillary Clinton’s Presidency. He refused to divest himself of his businesses. Did you know that the only major asset Jimmy Carter had was the Carter Peanut business, and that he sold it, lock, stock, and barrel when he was elected? Trump wants the kind of respect Jimmy Carter has? Really?

He tweets in the middle of the night–sort of “hit and run mouth”, instead of the give-and-take of a media interview, because he’s simply not going to answer questions or be confronted with what he has said in the past–he will dole out what he wants to say one-sided. He insults people who attempt to hold him accountable or who don’t give him affirmation– (this list is so long, I don’t know where to start: how about Megyn Kelly, for instance–would Abraham Lincoln have accused a woman who challenged him by repeating his insulting remarks about women as being on her period?). He is arrogant, misogynistic, racist, the list goes on and on. How about his claim to the biggest electoral college “victory”? How about his claim about the size of the inauguration crowd? He also isn’t very knowledgeable: did you hear what he said about Frederick Douglass? He just heard about him. Wow! Anyone who gets in his way will be insulted. He constantly reverses direction: now, all of a sudden, China is not a currency manipulator. What happened to “lock her up”–the mantra he used to get lower middle class whites threatened by the idea of a successful woman becoming President to vote for him? He bitched about President Obama being out of the Oval Office golfing, and yet, he does so almost every weekend, at tremendous cost to the taxpayers. He actually referred to his wife as “a good-looking piece of ass”. When they arrived at the White House, he walked up the steps by himself, leaving her to get the Tiffany box out of the limo. She is arm-candy, and they’re fooling no one. If people don’t respect her, it’s because they don’t respect him but then, he also doesn’t respect her. She posed for racy pictures, scantily-clad, so if people don’t respect her or treat her like Laura Bush, for instance, is this media bias or reality?

The Rump is a fat, spoiled, emotionally immature child who wanted to be President because this is the ultimate ego trip. He’s failing badly. What he, you and Kellyanne don’t understand is that merely conniving his way into the Oval Office does not, of itself, entitle him to respect. That’s not the same thing as not respecting the Office of the President, just like disrespecting a judge who takes bribes is not the same thing as disrespecting judicial office. There has never been any man as flawed as The Rump who has been President, and this includes Richard Nixon, because all of his predecessors were fundamentally patriots. The Rump is clearly no patriot. We can only hope he doesn’t get lots of people killed.

How about collaboration with the Russians? There can be no doubt that the Russians influenced the election because they wanted The Rump to get elected. Why? What business interests do the Rumps have that involve Russians? Why won’t The Rump say anything bad about Putin? Proof of ties between his campaign personnel and some of his advisors are coming fast and furious. So, Jonathan, you are saying that the media are “biased” when they report about these things? They are supposed to “respect” this person and treat him like he was JFK, LBJ, FDR, or even one of the Bushes? Explain to me why you think he should receive respect. I can’t think of any valid reason.

    1. Natacha,…
It’s possible that JT doesn’t have the time to read the c. 700 word column you just posted, let alone respond to the questions directed to him in marathon posts.

      1. I was only getting started. I could go on and on and on, because there are so many reasons this spoiled child doesn’t deserve to be President.

        1. Natacha….
I don’t know what the record is for the longest post on a JT column…probably over a thousand words.
I have no doubt that you could easily top the old record, since you were “only getting started” with 700-800 words.
There were only 15-20 questions you asked in the earlier post….I’m not sure if you’re “a contender” in that category yet.
Bring us up to date when JT answers all of them for you.😏

          1. I’m not saying, or even intimating, anyone is insane, just depressed. Nata is very angry and as we all know, anger is depressions ugly cousin. I simply think she needs more than the Snickers Foxtrot prescribed.

    2. Okay, so you don’t like Trump. Yes, he is a very imperfect man, but at least he’s authentically who he is – he’s no phony. Were you hoping for Bill Clinton being back in the White House playing the role of ‘first gentleman’ when he is anything but a gentleman? The Clintons are corrupt, opportunistic liars and criminals. The country chose Trump. If the way to win the election was to get more popular votes, then Hillary won by playing the wrong game – which just shows her bad judgment and what a poor campaign she ran.

And instead of criticizing her, why not respect Melania’s choice to be with Trump? She is not a prisoner. She is not a victim. She is living her life and making her own choices. How is that wrong? You are judging her because you don’t agree with her choices about how she is living her life. Take a breath and get some perspective. Much of what you are complaining about Trump is relatively insignificant (and a lot of your opinion, not fact) compared to what actually affects your everyday life. Is the economy improving? Yes. Are good jobs being created? Yes. Has illegal immigration dropped substantially? Yes. Are we enforcing the laws on the books? Yes. Is Trump working to provide school choice for all parents? Yes. Is China seemingly becoming an ally of ours as we work to solve the North Korea problem? Yes. Has American leadership and credibility in the world been reestablished? Yes. Can we look forward to tax cuts? Yes. Will Obamacare be improved or a better plan created? Yes. Is it possible that Obamagate (spying on Trump) is the bigger story and Russiagate is a ruse? Yes. Have we had any race riots since Obama left? No. And on and on it goes. Trump is it for the next four years. May as well get used to it.

      1. Thanks, Bob for taking the time and effort to post. It probably won’t do any good for Natacha and the other victims of TDS, but it certainly puts things in perspective for those who are in sound mental health.

        1. Thanks….I tried 😉 But I fear she is already too far gone. There is no known cure for TDS.

          1. The only “TDS” I’m seeing around here is the number of people who don’t understand what a walking disaster this guy is.

            1. I’m saying that Trump was the better choice over Hillary Clinton and he is what we’ve got for the next four years so why not give him a chance to see what he does?

The reality is that Obama hurt the country – he did not help it. He doubled the national debt. Obama hurt the Democrats, his own party – he didn’t help them. Obama helped Iran – he empowered them in a ridiculously one-sided deal. Obama helped Cuba. Obama told Putin he’d have “more flexibility after (his) election.” Etc, etc. It’s so funny to think that after losing 1000 Democratic seats, the House and the Senate….and then Trump wins 30 states and most of the counties in the country to take the White House — that more people aren’t talking about what a disaster Obama and his policies were during his eight years. It makes no sense to say Obama was a successful President. He wasn’t. Seven out of 10 voters felt the country had been heading in the wrong direction! Voters rejected Obama’s policies and the direction he was trying to take the country. Obama is the reason we have Trump.

And a big piece of why the Dems failed so badly was Obamacare. We have 300+ million people in this country. You cover just under 20 million with Obamacare and then you force 30 million more to buy a product they may or may not want and then saddle them with higher and higher premiums in order to pay for it all. Now the Democrats are fighting FOR Obamacare? It’s what cost them all these seats in the first place. Makes no sense.

Give Trump a chance is all I’m saying.

              1. I’ll give him a chance… to be impeached for his various crimes, more of which will be revealed once we get to see his tax returns. Not gonna deny that Hillary was a bad choice—but Trump was clearly worse, as evidenced in part by all the pre-election promises he made that he’s now reneging on, and his appointment of agency heads that hate the functions of the agencies they’re the heads of.

                  1. Violations of the “emoluments” clause of the Constitution for one—and I don’t believe for a moment that he’s currently taking no role in the management of his various business interests. Beyond that, we need to investigate what loans he has outstanding from foreign countries, any of which could affect his decision as president.

      2. The “country” did NOT choose him. 3 million more voted AGAINST him than for him. Yes, he’s authentic all right, I’ll give you that-authentically immature, flawed, sexist, spoiled, selfish, lacking in knowledge, lacking in patriotism, egotistical, the list goes on.

“Melania’s choice” That’s laughable. She was a model, and posed for pictures partially nude, showing lots of cleavage. They lie about her education–no institution of higher learning in Slovenia ever heard of her. She maybe has the equivalent of a high school diploma, but since it’s from Slovenia, who knows what that actually means. She is what her husband described her as, and that is a piece of ass. She’ll never be an Eleanor Roosevelt. She’ll never be credible as a woman of substance because she isn’t. What else would she do–return to Slovenia? She’s too old to model now. She might be a nice person, but she doesn’t stand for anything other than being arm candy to an egomaniac. I don’t happen to respect that very much.

“School choice”? Another joke. I live in Indiana, which has more “school choice” and has had this longer than any other state. Guess what–kids in charter schools do worse on standardized tests than they did when they were in public schools. Wanna know why? Because the profiteers that run the charter schools make their profits on not paying benefits, like retirement and good insurance. No teacher unions, no experienced teachers, so they hire kids right out of college, with little to no teaching experience. Experience in teaching makes all the difference. It takes years of experience to learn how to reach kids, especially those living in difficult home environments. Doesn’t matter. Profiteers are making a killing. Kids are getting screwed. Betsy DeVoss comes from the investor class. She knows what the priorities are.

The economy is improving? Based on what? Investors are betting on the pro-business agenda of the Republicans, including cutting environmental protections, cutting taxes to the wealthy. Ask the average person if he or she is better off. Who’s going to pay for all of those bombs, anyway?

American “leadership and credibility”. What are you smoking? That fat, bald A-hole with the bad comb-over is the laughingstock of the world. Tax cuts? Only if you are wealthy.

No, no one spied on Trump. Trump’s associates got caught being involved with the Russians as part of general surveillance. This is only questioned on Fox News, and BTW Bob, did you know that Fox News puts the fake blondes showing lots of skin on air to pander to aging men like yourselves, so you’ll tune in and listen to the lies they put out there, including the ridiculous claim that President Obama spied on the fat orange A-hole and that connections to the Russians are lies?

          1. Is this seriously going to be the national conversation for the next 4 years?

The country DID NOT CHOOSE HIM!

            Yes, they did.

            Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

              1. Until and unless our system is changed, we do not choose/elect our presidents based on popular vote. Hillary could have gotten 10 million votes in California and she would still only get 55 electoral votes. Trump ran his campaign and allocated his resources according to how we choose our president. Hillary did not. Due to her fatal strategic errors, she lost the game where it counts. That is a fact.

        1. Natacha – as someone who spent most of their teaching career teaching at-risk students at charter schools, let me tell you how we got those students. The public schools would expel them just before the AIMS test, so their scores would look better. These kids were falling though the cracks. I would like to say that we saved all of them, but we didn’t. However, we did get a fair amount of them into either college or technical schools.

Anybody can teach AP students. Hell, they can teach themselves. We had students who started with a below 4th grade reading level and we got them through the state testing. And this was without have a gang war break out during school hours. The public schools could not say the same. All of our feeder schools had at least one gang war on campus per year.

It is clear you know zilch about charter schools, their teachers and their students. Here in Arizona charter schools have been set up for the performing arts, STEM, robotics, basic education, etc. What is true in your state is not true in other states.

        2. Natacha…..

“The “country” did NOT choose him.” Uh, yeah they did. That’s why he’s whatcha call the President.

“Yes, he’s authentic all right, I’ll give you that-authentically immature, flawed, sexist, spoiled, selfish, lacking in knowledge, lacking in patriotism, egotistical, the list goes on.” Um, if you listen to yourself, I’m wondering how emotionally mature you think you sound?

““Melania’s choice” That’s laughable.”- So you’re saying she’s a prisoner not free to leave her marriage if she so chooses?

“She was a model, and posed for pictures partially nude, showing lots of cleavage.” How Progressive of her. Gloria Steinem would approve.

“She is what her husband described her as, and that is a piece of ass.” I think he said “nice” piece of ass. What, like this is a bad thing to be in your husband’s eyes?

“She’ll never be an Eleanor Roosevelt.” No, she won’t. She will be Melania Trump. Bill Clinton would never be an Eleanor Roosevelt either.

“She’ll never be credible as a woman of substance because she isn’t.” That’s your opinion.

“She might be a nice person, but she doesn’t stand for anything other than being arm candy to an egomaniac. I don’t happen to respect that very much.” That’s your opinion. And it’s HER choice that she made in HER life. So, you must be one of those women who are all Pro-Choice as long as it’s the ‘choice’ they approve of?

““School choice”? Another joke.” — I let Paul handle that one 😉

“The economy is improving? Based on what?” Um, evidence. I think they call it consumer confidence.

“American “leadership and credibility”. What are you smoking?” A nice big blunt. Helps me relax and think more clearly.

“No, no one spied on Trump.” Yeah, they did. Wait for it. It’s a coming.

“BTW Bob, did you know that Fox News puts the fake blondes showing lots of skin on air to pander to aging men like yourselves, so you’ll tune in…?” I did. How could I miss it with all those legs, high heels and ta ta’s? Something wrong with that? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go smoke my big fat blunt and watch some Fox News.

          1. It does not take a psychiatrist to diagnose Natacha—He/she/it appears to suffer from a paranoid delusional disorder. Or is it possible that Natacha once dated Trump and was “dumped by Trump”!

            1. Who knows, but she sure does have some strong opinions about all things Trump. Btw, Natacha, I was heavy on the sarcasm in my reply to your reply. I don’t have cable television and I don’t smoke big fat blunts. I was trying to help you see things differently. I realize that ain’t gonna happen. So I’ll leave you with a cheery little song that might help you get through the next 4 years….

      3. The economy is beginning to slow and the number of jobs created was way down.

    3. ‘Natacha’ –

I have reserved a one-way ticket in your name to the Totalitarian country of your choice. Please reply with your selection. You will be flying United …

    4. And I suppose your apparent hero Barrack Obama was a far better President? He incurred more debt than all of his predecessors. And let’s not forget fast and furious, and that horrible deal with Iran, the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism. And your belief that that the Russians influenced the 2016 election is pure hogwash! Your other apparent hero Hillary had a much more substantial connection to Russia than Mister Trump. As Secretary of State, Hillary authorized the transfer of one fifth of our uranium to the Russians! I could go on, but suffice it to say that I reject your opinion of President Trump. Who am I? Just an Army Veteran, a poor working stiff (Who got poorer during the last four years of the so-called “Hope and Change”, and one of the “deplorables” that appalling woman made mention of during her unsuccessful and terrible campaign in 2016

  9. Expecting anything touched by Microsoft to be viable and trustworthy is like expecting Trump not to tweet. I’m surprised we’re not confronted by a blue screen and reboot notification anytime we switch to the channel.

  10. Why do people think that movie stars and like popular people have access to information (as a rule) that the genpop does not? That’s my first question. Secondly the reporter asked Debra Messing how to best neutralize the Trump threat to Democracy? First, what threat? Prove the basis for your question before you ask it Mr. and Ms. Reporter. These are the kinds of speculative questions that make journalism yellow and dirty. How can the press even think that they are fulfilling American’s right to know when the basis of what they report is a lie!

Reporters were silent when the Obama administration sanctioned the same immigration list that President Trump is operating off of. The press was silent as Obama rendered over 40 Executive Orders that threatened the very rights of American’s (and reporters) every where. They remained silent while they watched the Pharmaceuticals and Medical supply companies massage the legislation of the Affordable Heath care act. They again have been silent while insurance companies jack rates on American’s to get around the minutia in the AHCA.

What’ good for the goose is good for the gander. Your filthy reporting styles are going to come back to bite you all!

    1. Why do people think that movie stars and like popular people have access to information (as a rule) that the genpop does not? That’s my first question.

Ordinary people do not. Media people put nuisances like Lena Dunham on the air in service to their own imperatives.

      1. And a lot of those celebrities, movie stars, pro athletes, music stars, etc, spent many a night partaying at the White House with the Obamas. And then don’t forget all of the Presidential Medals of Freedom that Barack handed out like candy to all his celebrity pals. I mean Tom Hanks? Why would Tom Hanks get a medal of freedom? Then there was Beyonce and her daughter Blue Ivy who even spent the weekend at Camp David with Michelle Obama and her daughters teaching them all how to ‘twerk.’ How about that? Celebrities serve as useful idiots for the left.

        1. What Joseph Epstein had to say about prizes a generation ago holds true: give it to a few of the wrong people or fail to give it to a few of the right people, and it isn’t worth much anymore. The president should not be handing out decorations to anyone but the soldiers he commands.

          1. Oh but don’t forget the distinguished public service medal that Obama awarded to himself….

            http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/01/04/president-obama-awards-himself-distinguished-public-service-medal/

And the Medal of Freedom “with distinction” that Obama awarded to Joe Biden, you know, for being a good VP and doing his job. It’s not like he created peace in the Middle East or anything. Participation prizes for everyone in Obamaworld.

            https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/01/12/surprise-ceremony-obama-awards-biden-presidential-medal-freedom/96503116/

            1. Thank you for reminding me of Obama giving himself that medal..the best laugh of his presidency.

              1. Christine Alford – we know that once things started unraveling, no one else was going to give him a medal, so Obama had to do it himself. Who else would?

      2. Why do you not think that movie stars are anything more than very ordinary, even common people, in costumes that have been deified by more of the same?

  11. The ‘objectivity’ of the Newseum era media was always over-rated. You did have some professionals with an oecumenical audience (e.g. Ted Koppel, Robin MacNeill, Jim Lehrer, as well as less respective figures nobody owned, like Mike Wallace). Mostly it was like what Gwen Ifull and Judy Woodruff made of MacNeill / Lehrer, relentless framing which presents the world as a puzzle to which the latest from the Democratic congressional caucus or affiliated advocacy groups is the answer. And, in the intervening years, we’ve learned that important figures from the era were frauds (Dan Rather, I’m looking at you).

The rubrics of that era did protect the media from certain vulgarites, as you can see.

Now, read about some figures who antedated the Newseum era, e.g. James Kilgallen. He was a loyal Hearst man, and Hears had his line. Still, is there anyone with that sort of zest for reporting anymore?

    1. Well yes, Jay S I can see your point, If it wasn’t for FOX the Liberals could have 100% of the MSM as their tool. That’s the way they like it, yeah?

    2. NBC has no political bias? ABC? CBS? No political bias? MSNBC? CNN? New York Times? Washington Post? No left leaning bias? Of course they do. They ALL do. And of course Fox News has a political bias. It is the ONLY channel that leans right while all the others lean left. Even Hillary Clinton’s campaign communications manager admitted that the media slants to the left:

      http://www.mediaite.com/online/jen-palmieri-admits-medias-leftward-slant-claims-theyre-harder-on-democrats/

      1. Seven liberal media outlets listed by Bob. You liberals think there are no other points of view. You perceive yourselves as being so omniscient! Don’t poor, lonely conservatives deserve to have one network they can trust and with which they can feel comfortable?

        1. That’s the joke isn’t it? As long as Liberals are hearing what they want, they imagine they are hearing the unvarnished truth. If they hear what they don’t like..they call it “bias”..there is no cure for it, they are quite literally beyond reason.

  12. Typically I read the WSJ and hope that the ideological fanaticism of the left has a counter balance or is minimized. I see people all around me that drink the Kool-Aid and are literally foaming at the mouth over Trump (and let’s not pretend the Left’s vitriol doesn’t extend to roughly half the population). This was no real surprise because to anyone with ears to hear, it was already clear that the “Liberal” camp believed that Conservatives should have ZERO representation. Trump has simply given these dictatorial bigots a target. These hypocrites that are going to shove the green fruit of their social engineering projects down the throats of America by force, because all they know is force. They are too underdeveloped mentally, themselves, to accept that moral persuasion is the only meaningful dynamic regarding the advancement of human dignity. They literally have ceased to be on board the train they imagine themselves in charge of, anyway. That being said..I don’t expect anything more from them, including the MSM which for so many years has simply been a tool, than I am seeing; nor do I expect them to suddenly change their spots. It’s you, poor Professor, who hadn’t fully acknowledged before this, what they are made of or how totally unworthy they are to wear the mantle of journalism.

  13. Name calling!! I can see you on the front lines now. Screaming at the top of your lungs. It’s time to grow up and act like an adult

    1. You talking to Isaac? He’s gonna be angry like this for 8 more years. Get used to it.

  14. Typically, I read the Washington Post and the New York Times. Then I read the Washington Times and Fox News. The Washington Times and Fox News make the Post and the NYT look like the most unbiased media in existence. Both sides stir it up but the Right Wing Media is way out in front when it comes to bias, unprofessional reporting, and scathing attacks in the editorial section. The facts of the matter are that Trump is nuts and his followers are simply angry mindless dupes.

    1. issac – you are aware that editorials are not reporting? BTW, have you gotten that American Civics book yet?

    2. Issac-
Studies show that third graders respond to Fox “news” at a higher rate than older students. It seems to be pitched at a third grade level – lots of flashing lights, colors, arguing, raised voices , and hateful perspectives. Older students tended to laugh at it and make jokes about the “news” presentations.

      1. While over at MSNBC viewers were treated to Al Sharpton in a 6pm weekday ‘news’ time slot until they moved him to Sunday mornings. The man is a race hustler who can barely speak English. And then there’s Brian Williams – a liar with no credibility who NBC went ahead and put back on the air on MSNBC.

      2. Studies show th

That people who begin sentences with ‘studies show’ swallow talking points hook line and sinker.

    3. “Democrats are smart, Republicans are dumb..definitely dumb.” Rain Man

  15. Let the liberal press blow their veneer of neutrality.

Discerning readers recognize hacks when we see them and discount what those networks/channels say.

The “good” press – meaning those journalists who are objective and inquisitive will benefit from the flight to quality.

The hacks will see their audiences shrink to their just partisan supporters.

    1. The “liberal press? The right wing press jettisoned “neutrality” long ago in fact they have never been neutral.

      1. Those were the good old days, weren’t they? Before FOX? When 100% of the Press was nothing but a Liberal Tool?

      2. Dan Rather was the face of the CBS Evening News for 25 years.

        1. “Dan Rather was the face of the CBS Evening News for 25 years.”

Yes, Susan, and you know how that sad story ended!

  16. Wow! United has a passenger dragged off, Spicer makes a mistake and CEO and Press Secretary are pushed to resign. Ok, now we have a 14 year old girl RAPED LIVE on FACEBOOK and now a man MURDERED LIVE and ZUCKERBERG and his COMPANY get a PASS? He and his company need to be shut down and charged. WHERE IS THE OUTCRY?

I see, after we see the tax return we’ll address Facebook. Ya gotta love those double standards. Most of those (paid) protestors don’t know have a clue what a 1040EZ looks like let alone the alphabet of schedules the President has filed.

The Internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn’t understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.

    Eric Schmidt

    1. Ha, ha, ha. 1. Please provide evidence that protesters were paid?
      2. Most people who actually do their taxes know what a 1040Ez looks like. I doubt the Donald does.
      3. One can actually do and or protest more than one thing.

    2. I get your points, Eric Schmidt, and agree. You have to wonder if all these years of teaching “tolerance” instead of the old ethic of “brotherly love” has actually lowered the bar for our social construct. Hmm..I wonder if those Social Know It All’s that plotted this course and dragged America along with them, will stand up and take credit?

        1. Tolerance is not an improvement over brotherly love. For one thing it implies that someone needs to be tolerated and someone else is the one who is tolerant of the lesser. I would go so far as to say that tolerance is a vile and deformed construct.
Tolerance is holding your nose when you sit next to someone on a bus. Brotherly love it moving over so they can sit with you.

“I hope I shall never find myself so arrogant as to call myself “tolerant” of any man”. Fredrick the Great

          1. I disagree with your description of tolerance. In my way of thinking, tolerance is accepting people as they are and not judging them. Not “holding your nose” because that, in itself, is not tolerance. Your opinion of tolerance sounds arrogant to me. Sounds like you might be a bit wrapped up in yourself and your “brotherly love” concept of yourself. It’s okay though because differing opinions make life interesting.

            1. I think I’m using the generally accepted definitions.

              tol·er·ate
              ˈtäləˌrāt/Submit
              verb
allow the existence, occurrence, or practice of (something that one does not necessarily like or agree with) without interference.
“a regime unwilling to tolerate dissent”
synonyms: allow, permit, condone, accept, swallow, countenance; More
accept or endure (someone or something unpleasant or disliked) with forbearance.
“how was it that she could tolerate such noise?”
synonyms: endure, put up with, bear, take, stand, support, stomach, deal with; abide
“he couldn’t tolerate her mood swings any longer”
be capable of continued subjection to (a drug, toxin, or environmental condition) without adverse reaction.
“lichens grow in conditions that no other plants tolerate”

  17. Overall, the MSM has corrected their past errors regarding Trump. Now that Trump is manfully blowing people, including plenty of children, to bits, he’s their guy. Evidently, it is still good to accuse Russia of fixing our elections (as opposed to reality, Clintonco fixed the election herself). It’s all a show. Clearly, there is no journalism happening in the MSM. They are propagandists and nothing more. The propaganda changes to fit the needs of their masters. That’s what is happening here.

    1. Yep, even the Washi9ngton Post and CNN have given Trump kudos for his foreign policy. bleh…..

      1. joe,

This isn’t true. Citizens are (should be) allowed to say what they think anytime. Our job as citizens involves speaking up and protesting on behalf of what we think is right. We aren’t just a “citizen” every four years and our only job isn’t to vote.

Teaching people that our only function is to elected the preselected candidates has been a good deal for the oligarchy. No one should accept that “deal”.

        1. Jill, Bernie lost because most Democratic voters did not want him. Deal.

            1. Neither Mr. Dunning nor Mr. Krueger could do a blessed thing about Bernie’s 3-1 losses among Southern Blacks.

          1. DDS,

No deal! You’re free to think as you please. There is factual information available to people who want to read about it.

BTW, I don’t support Bernays. Never did. Never will. He didn’t care that his own voters were disenfranchised. He’s a war monger–no sale!

            1. No deal! You’re free to think as you please. There is factual information available to people who want to read about it.

The factual information consists of Hilligula’s 3,000,000+ margin among voting Democrats, and you simply refuse to acknowledge it. It’s not the first time you’ve descended into this sort of juvenilia, and it certainly will not be the last.

BTW, I don’t support Bernays. Never did. Never will. He didn’t care that his own voters were disenfranchised. He’s a war monger–no sale!

OK, you’re happy to be taken for an idiot sectary. It’s not as if we didn’t know that.

          2. Sorry, Susan, Sanders lost because of a concerted effort by the Democratic National Committee to deny him airtime and to convince the news media that he was not a viable candidate—even though polls showed that of all the possible candidates who could beat Trump in a head-to-head match-up, Sanders was the only one to do so.

            1. Yes, of course, Debbie Wasserman Schultz snookered Louella Washington in Montgomery into voting against him.

    1. Dave, do you not believe that the Iranians and Kim Jong Un are “threatening to blow everyone up”?
