Trump Unleashes Personal Attack On The Hosts Of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”

Notably, about a half hour before Trump’s tweets, White House Director of Social Media Dan Scavino tweeted: “#DumbAsARockMika and lover #JealousJoe are lost, confused & saddened since @POTUS @realDonaldTrump stopped returning their calls! Unhinged.”

donald_trump_president-elect_portrait_croppedThen, while the show was on the air, Trump attacked the show for being “poorly rated” and called the hosts names.    The first tweet was posted at 8:52 am”

I heard poorly rated speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came..

Just for the record, Morning Joe recently hit an all-time high in viewership.

As many of you know, I am a regular on the show.  Notably, I have been one of those commentators who have been questioning the basis for criminal allegations against Trump as well as the calls for impeachment. I further have argued that the law is on Trump’s side on the immigration order.  Yet, I have been regularly asked to appear on the show by Joe and Mika.  Indeed, Joe has also questioned the basis for the lower court orders against the Trump Administration.  It is certainly true that there is much criticism of Trump on the show, but that is hardly a distinguishing characteristic from other shows on other networks.  Moreover, I have never met anyone who questioned the intelligence or stability of Mika. Indeed, even to write that line seems perfectly bizarre.

Yet, this is not about refuting allegations that the respected hosts are “crazy” or “psycho.”  It is about the standards that are expected of not just a president but an adult in a civil society.  This falls considerably short of that standard.

It then (as is often the case) went from bad to worse with the second tweet on the face lift.

Once again, I fail to understand the motivation or even the meaning behind these tweets. While they may thrill the lowest common denominator of our country, most of us recoil from such attacks. I have raised four children that they must remain civil and respectful in their dealings with other people, including those who criticize you.  Indeed, I tell them what my father taught me: you have only one unbreakable commitment in this family, you must pass along the family name in as good or better shape than you received it.  That means maintaining your dignity and civility in any circumstance, particularly when others might yield to the temptation of personal or petty attacks.  That is why I do not find White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders response very compelling: “This is a president who fights fire with fire.” There are no excuses for name calling or petty attacks. That is the test of every adult — to maintain decorum and civility regardless of the circumstance (even when others may call you names or insult you).

Republican leaders to their credit have already denounced the tweets as have Fox anchors and conservative commentators on publications like the National Review.  Sen. Lindsey Graham is quoted as saying “Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American politics, not the greatness of America.” Others including Speaker Paul Ryan have followed suit and said that this is not acceptable for any president:

The President’s tweets are beneath the dignity of his office. It needs to stop.

Stop it! The Presidential platform should be used for more than bringing people down.

Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American politics, not the greatness of America.

Susan Collins on Trump’s tweets to @mitchellreports: “There is no need for such uncivil language.”

Ben Sasse

@BenSassePlease just stop. This isn’t normal and it’s beneath the dignity of your office.

This is not okay. As a female in politics I am often criticized for my looks. We should be working to empower women. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/880410114456465411

MCCAIN on Trump’s Tweets this morning: “It’s hard to understand, and not presidential…”

At a time when the White House needs every Republican vote to achieve meaningful reforms, these shocking tweets are causing considerable damage below the waterline of the Administration.  As with the tweets during the litigation, Trump has become the main witness against himself.  What is particularly interesting is that this has been a difficult week for CNN after retracting a story and having both a producer and a host taped privately questioning the Russian investigation stories.  This will succeed in reducing that pressure as everyone covers the latest personal attack on Twitter.  Each of these tweets unnerves Republican allies about the work ahead and trusting the White House to lead them into the mid-term elections.  That should not, however, be the criteria.  These tweets are deeply troubling and beneath the office of the President of the United States.

  1. Please spare us the sanctimony with respect to the presidency. There was only one president that did not tell a lie. All the others went after the cherry tree with vigor. Oh, but then that whole story was a fabrication of a later day. Sure Mika is on TV because of her looks, is that fair to say? perhaps there is a more diplomatic way to say she prepares herself for TV. But the Pious nature of this critique of the office illustrates amnesia to the Gruberisms of his predecessor of the disbarment of Hillary’s husband.
Get over the feigned moral outrage and indignation professor. This post was beneath you.

  2. This all started with Rosie O’Donnell who used ABC View as an attack forum.

  3. It boils down to Self Control and Focus.
Neither, of which the ” Orange One ” has.

Tell me what he has done for the Americans who left the work force, under Barack Hussein Obama.?

    1. He has done nothing and the layoffs in retail are mounting. He would rather tweet about bleeding women that really aren’t bleeding in order to distract his loyal followers.

      1. frankly – they did admit the Mika had some work done under her chin. They treated like everybody did it, but they don’t.

  4. Some of us may not like the way President Trump tweets. This kind of discourse is how he got elected. There are a lot of unhappy people out there who feel he speaks for them.

  5. American media is populated by scumbags, drama queens and kings , and to be honest not very smart minds , they deserve to be annihilated for the sake of real journalism and to decontaminate the swamp of Washington from the filth of the worst grade !

  6. Sometimes I think Trump might actually be tired of being President, and is trying to see just how much raunchy stuff he has to tweet, in order to get himself thrown out of office, and back to making TV shows and developing golf courses. After all, Air Force One is so tackily equipped, compared to Trump’s gold-plated 757.

  7. Here’s a message from the great Edward G. Robinson as Little Caesar for the whining lowlife Leftists, the corrupt RINOs, and the sleazy mainstream media presstitutes:

    1. “Here’s a message from the great Edward G. Robinson as Little Caesar for the whining lowlife Leftists, the corrupt RINOs, and the sleazy mainstream media presstitutes:”

      . . . and for a certain thin-skinned vulgarian POTUS.

  8. What is more problematic , first black president playing golf after a white American is beheaded or trump letting the bully couple have it ? We don’t need liberals to patronize what is unhinged and what’s not ! And we definitely don’t need these filthy anti trumpers who should be drained from the politics of DC!

  9. Morning Blow and Mika started this nonsense. Every single day, they spew their hatred and nonsense for Potus. They deserve everything they get. And more. The liberal American media are not journalists and haven’t been for some years.

    1. I laugh when these liberals patronize trump like this professor who has a conflict of interest here , as he can’t wait to be in psycho joe’s show so he can enjoy his insults of the president !

  10. For some reason this professor thinks that trump is responsible for the inappropriate behavior of liberals but when it comes to Trump’s tweets it’s all Trump’s fault . How psychologically under developed our professors are , it’s amazing ! Media is a bully and professor enjoys going to the show of a buffoon who calls the president as a thug while our patronizing professor smiles . How low one can be ?

  11. When I post comments on this blog I find myself making rash statements in order to be funny or to be critical. I don’t think I go as far as the Trumpster. But on the other hand I am not fair and balanced. I am not wacko though. I do not think that Trump is insane or wacko but I think he lets his twits say what he thinks rather than think hard about what he says or be careful as to what he says.
We are in a different world now that this guy is President. I did not vote for him but I will only be critical when he deserves it. I am not a “morning Joe”. My favorite President in my lifetime is Harry Truman. I did not like Johnboy Kennedy or Carter. I liked Clinton and Obama and I Like Ike. The Bush boys were not so good. Reagan was bad. An actor is worse than a corporate millionaire business tycoon such as Trump.
When Harry Truman “gave em Hell” no one criticized him like the Trumpster gets it. I did not like FDR or Hoover. TR was a good one. Think of him when you go to a National Park. I think of FDR when I see a defunct housing project.
Trump will have a legacy. God knows what it will be. Dog knows better. God spelled backwards is Dog. Ask your dog where this country is headed.

      1. Hoover lived until 1965. Longest serving ex-President until Carter passed him in 2009.

        1. Jay – I should have been more precise. Do you remember Hoover as President? Does that clarify my question?

  12. THIS.

  13. Most people are being played by these tweets. A message among a billion others sent each week that are limited to 140 characters that takes ownership of someone’s thoughts is truly a powerful device. A device such as this is fueled only by the emotional energy of the reader, who decides for themselves, even if subconsciously, how much it actually affects them or what degree of rant or rave it elicits.

The degree for which this matters is clearly vested in the beholder.

It also provides a great deal of distraction of the public and the political machinery that rules it.

As to the question of whether the average person is similarly exercised, or even cares, is more important. But in one aspect I can find some benefit in is that if politicians are spending all their energies fighting over irrelevances, they will thereafter have less time and energy to damage ordinary citizens.

    1. Did our professor say anything about the unhingedness of obama destroying Libya while playing golf after a fellow American was just beheaded by the isis?

    2. I understand President Trump requires little sleep and starts his day at around 3 AM. By the time the Mornin’ crowd begins he’s probably ready for some fun! Twitter is a time waster. At the press briefing today, Huckabee’s daughter got angry at a typically dumb question and read some statistics about how much more time the media spends attacking Trump. A lot more than I thought. If these early morning tweets help him do the job, let him have all he wants. Anybody who could sit next to Susan Collins for the Senate/Trump meeting trying to get health care bill moving can tweet all he wants! (Susan believes the CBO numbers. Even though the CBO is rarely correct, Susan is sticking with them. God help us.). Maine, send someone else next time!

      1. Sandi,

Here is a comment I made on the ninth that might continue to be relevant in this article:

An aside to this but relevant in general.

The announcement quoted from President Trump was during Q&A with Presidents Trump and Klaus Iohannis after their White House meeting. Both presidents spoke briefly of their respective country’s trade relations and roles in NATO, among other matters.

Among the crowd were American news reporters and those of other nations. When the foreign news correspondents asked questions they all related to the topics discussed by both presidents and expounded upon these subjects. When the American reporters asked questions nearly none were about the summit and were instead the same tired, endlessly repetitive questions asked of the president. The same questions are asked at every press conference and the public still gets no substantive information; only that information that comports to the narrative the MSM wants the public to be spoon fed. It is becoming ridiculous.

This year has confirmed more than ever that the MSM in the United States is becoming increasingly irrelevant with each passing month. If the narrow range of subjects is not enough what remains is reported with such bias it becomes increasingly valueless.

Interested individuals are best left to their own devices to ascertain what is truly occurring in the world.

        1. Because the American Press has their own agenda. Plus, I don’t think a lot of American reporters are very smart. They have been indoctrinated in Liberal Theory, and are unable to think outside the box. They are like cult members, who spout off the same tired cliche’d bromides that substitute for thought.

Plus, if they don’t play ball, they are going nowhere. The aspect of all this which bothers me the most is the 24/7 drumbeat of the Democratic Party Narrative, which intrudes every aspect of life. Everything that moves is politicized. It is so bad that toy stores are scared to have boy sections, and girl sections.

          Like Yeats said:

The best lack all conviction, while the worst
          Are full of passionate intensity.

  14. What the author of this article fails to see, and what is so clear to the American people, is this: the only thing we conservatives have gained from being ‘gentlemanly’ is the ability to lose well. We have a country where the leftists are taking over our finances, our education system, and our healthcare. If we are to reverse any of those trends, we don’t need a ‘gentleman.’ We need a cage fighter. And if he’s a little uncouth while he’s getting things done, well, that’s better than someone who’s only talent is finding different ways to apologize for losing yet again.

    1. Well, he’s not really getting things done, unless you count eroding the level of public discourse. He’s not quite as bad as the insane progressive left with their bottomless profanity and nutty PC nursery rhymes. But he’s embarrassing in ways even Clinton and W. never even came close to

Trump careens from one crisis to the next, all of which have been of his own making. All presidents have taken heat from the media. But none of them have reacted with anything approaching the immaturity of Trump.

If, at the age of ten, I had acted the way he does at seventy, my parents would have tanned my hide.

      Sad!

      1. “If, at the age of ten, I had acted the way he does at seventy, my parents would have tanned my hide.”

Rightfully so, but when you became of age and started building high rise buildings in Manhattan and your parents gave you a lot of money to start your business you might have lost it all behind that veneer of gentility.

        1. I’m not talking about a veneer of gentility. I’m talking about not being a dick.

          1. There are a lot of dicks in the world ruling major powers. Leaders aren’t always the ones we would like for our next door neighbor even though they make great leaders.

I guess what I am trying to say is that you have to define the word “dick” in relation to Trump in order for that word to have any meaning.

    2. I wonder what his family thinks about this? The biggest thing going on right now is repealing Obamacare. The votes are getting lost every day! Is this all a game for the G20? He needs to be
one-on-one with Democrat Senators who have voiced an interest in fixing the mess. I listened to Senator Paul today and his solutions seem reasonable. Worth investigating.

  15. Did law enforcement ever learn the truth about the strange death of Joe’s office worker – who was found dead in his Florida District office?

    1. Yes, and it was perfectly mundane, but you amuse yourself with these onanistic exercises.

      1. Hey, don’t knock onanism. It’s a great way to have fun with someone you have a lot in common with.
