“It Is A Terrorist Organization”: Leading Democrats Call For Abolishing ICE

images-e1529890639738.jpgIt was in vogue in past years for Republicans to call for the elimination of the IRS, a ridiculous and demagogic call. Now Democrats appear to have their own demagogic rallying cry in suggesting the elimination of ICE.  Various Democrats went to the airways in the last week to suggest that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement should be abolished, including Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) who wrote in a Medium pos that ICE had to be abolished “to protect our families.”  Sen. Kamala Harris (D. Cal.) also said that the elimination of ICE might have to be occur to protect innocent people.  New York Democratic candidate and former “Sex in the City” star Cynthia Nixon went as far to call ICE a “terrorist organization” and demanded its abolishment.

Blumenauer declared “We should abolish ICE and start over, focusing on our priorities to protect our families and our borders in a humane and thoughtful fashion.”

Sen. Kamala Harris suggested that we might have to “start from scratch” by eliminating the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency:

“There’s no question that we’ve got to critically reexamine ICE and its role, and the way that it is being administered, and the work it is doing. And we need to probably think about starting from scratch.”

For her part, Cynthia Nixon stated

“ICE has strayed so far away from its mission. It is supposed to be here to keep Americans safe but what it has turned into, frankly, is a terrorist organization of its own that is terrorizing people who are coming to this country.”  She also stated “I think we need to abolish ICE. That seems really clear. They have strayed so far from the interests of the American people and the interests of humanity.”

We have seen the gradual erosion of both civility and substance on both sides of this debate.  These leading Democrats are fully aware that the elimination of ICE would be absurd but there is a race to position themselves in the most extreme possible position on the subject.  This does not bode well for the Democrats in 2020.  Trump clearly believes that immigration is the ultimate wedge issue for voters and polls would seem to support that view.  What may play well in the primaries could give Trump a significant advantage in the general election with independent and moderate voters.

  1. (WASHINGTON) — Department of Homeland Security employees are seeing violent threats with greater frequency because of the president’s immigration policy, according to an official with knowledge of a recent threat assessment.

The department determined that there was a “heightened threat against DHS employees” in response to recent government actions surrounding immigration, according to a letter sent to employees over the weekend…..

…..Around two dozen threat reports were issued in the past few days, primarily against Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, according to the same official. Each of these reports is generally related to a specific online threat. All employees are personally contacted by DHS security if they are the target of a violent threat, the official said.

In one example, a senior DHS official living in the Washington. D.C. area found a burnt and decapitated animal on his front porch, according to an official with knowledge of the incident…..

In addition to the protests, thousands of employees have had personal data leaked on social media, the letter to employees said. On Thursday, WikiLeaks published information on more than 9,000 supposed current and former ICE employees, saying it is important for “increasing accountability,” according to The Washington Post.

“People can disagree on policy,” ICE spokeswoman Liz Johnson said in a statement to ABC News, “but it is unconscionable to target our employees and advocate violence against federal law enforcement officers.”

  2. the people like Cynthia Nixon would not do well in a situation where law and order have broken down. Let ICE be dismantled, let the borders fall and the real invasion begin, I say people like her have it coming. Trust me, the rural areas are forewarned and forearmed. What will they do in NYC when it has degenerated into Mexico city? I dont know and I don’t care. Let NYC collapse for all I care, sleeping safe sound and secure in the bigoted bywaters of red state enclaves

Human Rights Watch has a new report that exposes dangerously substandard medical care in ICE detention facilities around the country and reveals that more people died in immigration detention in fiscal year 2017 than any year since 2009. Physicians reviewed 15 deaths in immigration detention from December 2015 to April 2017, determining that substandard medical care contributed or led to eight of the 15 deaths. “What we found is ICE, the agency that’s detaining now 40,000 people… and wants to expand, cannot provide adequately for the safety of the people that it holds,” says Clara Long, senior researcher at Human Rights Watch. She’s the author of the report “Code Red: The Fatal Consequences of Dangerously Substandard Medical Care in Immigration Detention.”

    1. Human Rights Watch is a shade more credible than the $PLC. They are a red haze advocacy group, and even the man who founded the organization was willing to admit that their Near East subsidiary was a fraud.

    2. Based on an analysis of prior research, the Johns Hopkins study estimates that more than 250,000 Americans die each year from medical errors. On the CDC’s official list, that would rank just behind heart disease and cancer, which each took about 600,000 lives in 2014, and in front of respiratory disease, which caused about 150,000 deaths.
      https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2016/05/03/476636183/death-certificates-undercount-toll-of-medical-errors

Well if they can survive the trek to illegally enter the United States, survive the detention center that was always going to be a possible option for their illegal activity, then they still face the possibility they’ll die at the hands of medical professionals.

      1. That’s stewed through several intermediaries. It’s dubious on the face of it as well. That would mean 9% of the population who die every year are killed by their doctors. CDCs own descriptive statistics list the number of those dying from accidents of every kind at 146,000. Where do you think they’re hiding the umbrella?

    3. anonymous – that means that some of those deaths occurred on Obama’s watch. Hmmmmm!!!! Obama was responsible for substandard medical care.

  4. “An Eritrean man took his own life after being deported from the United States earlier this month. Zeresenay Ermias Testfatsion died by suicide at the Cairo International Airport. He was 34 years old. Testfatsion sought asylum in the United States in 2017, fleeing violence in Eritrea. He spent more than a year detained in South Florida and Ohio before he was deported. Friends and family are demanding to know why he was deported to Eritrea, despite his fears that he would be tortured or even killed there. We speak with Christine Ho, founder of a volunteer visitation program that provides support for immigrants and asylum-seekers inside Broward Transitional Center, the immigrant detention center in South Florida where Testfatsion was jailed for more than a year.”

      1. Olly,

The has been child sexual abuse at the detention centers. How can you be o.k. with this?

Certainly, people do die from medical malpractice. Doctors get sued for that. Some lose their license.

Medical personel are resonsilbe for those ICE is holding in detention. ICE and its personel are legally and morally responsible for those people. As I write further down, if our people won’t uphold other people’s human rights we have sunk really low as a nation. We can’t just pick and choose whose human rights matter. They all have to matter to us.

When liberals refuse to defend the free speech rights of conservatives and conservative refuse to stand up for the human rights of immigrants, we see a society that has no ethical basis for its actions. It’s pure tribalism. The only way out of that situation is to have a real set of ethics, one that applies to our most hated enemy and our most loved president.

        1. The has been child sexual abuse at the detention centers. How can you be o.k. with this?

Because he’s not a juvenile and he understands that there is some non-zero level of criminal behavior wherever people congregate. It’s not hard to find examples of teachers sexually violating students, either. Ergo we abolish schooling?

          1. T=spaz,

Your response doesn’t makes any sense. If a teacher abuses a child they are open to being arrested and losing their job. Why is an ICE emplyee different? How is it they are above the law?

The level of lawlessness in ICE is very great. If a school has that level of lawless behavior towards children it should be closed. As ICE emplyees consistantly violate many people’s Constitutional rights, at minimum, it and its employees must be held accountable in a court of law.

Good law enforcement is not lawlessness. Lawless LEO’s/agencies is what makes a police state–that and compliant citizens who will justify that lawlessness.

            1. Why is an ICE emplyee different?

Who has credibly accused an ICE employee of having done this? And what is your basis for saying they do this with impunity? You do realize the voices in your head are not very probative, no?

        2. The has been child sexual abuse at the detention centers. How can you be o.k. with this?

First of all, where in the hell did I ever say I was okay with child sexual abuse? Secondly, these women and children have been threatened with and actual victims of sexual abuse all along the way from their country of origin to the US border. How can you be okay with these parents/guardians exposing themselves and their children to these violent crimes? Why aren’t you angry these parents/guardians don’t seek asylum at one of the many US consulates along the way; preferably the nearest one to their point of origin?

The only way out of that situation is to have a real set of ethics, one that applies to our most hated enemy and our most loved president.

Listen Rip Van Winkle, things have changed quite a bit since you dozed off. We are now in an era of situational ethics, civics ignorance and the administrative state. The ethics ship has sailed; the rule of law ship is on the horizon and heading away. This human rights fiasco begins and ends with a political class that cares about one thing, and one thing only: staying in office and gaining power…PERIOD.

            1. Can you say your argument with out using personal attacks?

LOL! You mean like accusing me of being okay with child sexual abuse? Ohhhh, I see, it’s a situational ethical thing and it’s okay for you but not me…got it. Thanks for proving my point.

Hey, if you cannot respond then that’s on you, not me. My post stands, deal with it.

              1. Olly,

You seem like a different person lately. Do you remember when I looked at your name and thought it was Oily, no Olly? You were upset about that and rightfully so. It had been my mistake and I apolozied for my error. I have not agreed with you on many things, nor have you agreed with me on many things but I have always felt you were a person who could be kind and decent.

What an ugly response. I guess we will just leave it at that but I miss the person whom I could talk with, even when there was a mistaken interpretation or a real difference of opinion.

                1. Jill,
I appreciate that, but I went to all caps OLLY to eliminate the accidental misspelling of my name.

You’ve taken offense by my post for some reason and yet you find it unoffensive to accuse me of being okay with child abuse. You’ve offered nothing to support your claim of child abuse at the detention centers. In the meantime, you’ve misrepresented anything I’ve said on the subject and now expect me to scrub my post for being uncivil?

You want ethics? Then stop pretending this is a moral crisis. This is a national security crisis. And ultimately, this a political crisis. Foreigners are being encouraged to enter our country illegally. They are not being told to seek asylum at the nearest consulate to them. They are not being encouraged to seek asylum at any of our legal ports of entry. They are being encouraged/coerced/coached/trafficked/harassed/exploited to enter everywhere other than our consulates and legal ports of entry. IF they are caught, then they are seeking asylum. How many illegals already in this country voluntarily seek out asylum before they are caught?

Would you be okay with 10 people breaking into your home if when caught they tell you they don’t feel safe in their own neighborhood? What’s the ethical response to that?

  5. It is difficult to see past the Democratic hypocrites who cynically call to dismantle ICE now that it’s Trump’s agency. There are good reasons to abolish ICE, but they said nothing under Obama as ICE abused and killed immigrants, including children.

ICE, along with the clandestine agencies and much of today’s paramilitary police, have become a danger to our freedoms and our people. Law enforcement routinely engages in illegal surveillance, torture, attacks civilians for legal protest using military/lethal armaments and raids peoples’ homes using guns and excessive force. ICE has killed people while they were in detention. It’s own investigation of those deaths showed they were at fault, yet this fault was swept under the rug.

Many unconstitutional actions are taken by what is supposed to be law enforcement. Yes, we do need to do away with these agencies and start from the ground up. First we must decide who we are as a people. Do we want a police state? Do we want law enforcement to engage in routine and egregious unconstitutional actions? Do we want children put in cages? Do we want mass incarceation of our own people, of immigrants? What do we want for our nation and people of other nations?

These enforcement agencies are out of control. At mininum, we should not allow them to commit unlawful actions. What we really need is responsible and constitution observant law enforment organizations. ICE should not be allowed to abuse immigrants and violate their human rights. If we cannot make a committment to that, we have truly sunk low as a nation.

    1. There are good reasons to abolish ICE,

There is no good reason to abolish ICE. Posturing ninnies who will never have to live in a world where the inane things they advocate will come to pass make statements like this. They are quite fortunate that what they advocate never comes to pass.

      1. Abolishing ICE would be nothing radical because ICE didn’t even exist until 2003. If it was abolished, we would simply revert back to the previous immigration system we had until 2003, when the border patrol and customs were joined.

  6. News flash. Large swaths of the Democratic Party consist of people who are unfit to govern, ever. They get their votes from the dregs.

Certain European countries during the Cold War had to cope with this problem. Portugal has a half-dozen communist and red haze parties organized into pair of electoral federation. The principal among them is the Portuguese Communist Party, which was for decades run by a lawyer who was a purported admirer of Joseph Stalin. Usually the communist vote in Portugal is about 12 percent of the total, but it has been as much as 18% in the past.

Leftoid parties generally in the occident have hit on packing the meeting as an electoral strategy. The Democratic Party’s in the vanguard, but the British Labour Party’s been at least as successful. There’s no functional distinction between this sort of behavior and stuffing the ballot boxes. What do you do when one of the major political parties is in effect a criminal organization whose object is to crush and dispossess whole classes in society? Since 1789, one can identify a precedent: Spain ca. 1933. About 2% of the Spanish population was killed during the Spanish Civil War. Not a pleasant thought, that.

    1. What, you mention communists in Spain but forget Russia and China? They are murderous. Don’t let them control government or you will end up like Ukraine under Lazar Kaganovich, where the kulacks starved in the most fertile fields in Europe, their grain stolen by commissars like Mad Maxine

  7. The Democrate party has started a movement that they have lost complete and total control over. There is no emergency brake on their behaviour and they are in total free fall.

  8. Whenever someone says we must “critically examine” or have “a dialogue” that person has nothing of substance to say about the subject. What the person is really saying is “I have no clue about what to do. Someone else figure it out”.

    1. Those who say we must “critically examine” or have “a dialogue” want to know as much as they can about the issue before making a decision. Others want to rely on their fantasy-based intuition supported by thin air because they have never had the aptitude to read and do research.

      1. If that were the case, then folks like Sen. Harris would keep their mouths shut and listen and not make pronouncements before getting all of the facts. Harris apparently feels comfortable enough with the facts to push for abolition of ICE. If she has already reached her conclusion, what good would “critical examination” do? In reality, what her comments suggest is that she hasn’t a clue on what to do in order to replace ICE or its functions. So, she wants others to do the intellectual work for her. What the country really needs to “critically examine” is why we insist on electing lightweights to Congress.

  9. America wishes to wash their hands of the results of its policies. The Cartels exist in their current size and form due to selective enforcement and cooperation with groups like the CIA. Gary Webb wrote a book about it and later committed “suicide” by shooting himself in the head… twice.
The US also arms the Cartels, not through actions like FAst and Furious but by allowing legal purchases at gun shows. The refugees are the product of our own creation.

    https://theintercept.com/2014/09/25/managing-nightmare-cia-media-destruction-gary-webb/

    1. How dare you go to the source of the problem instead of arguing about the symptoms. (sarcasm) Our military has destroyed many countries in the Middle East and Africa while the CIA does it in Central America. And we have a petulant child calling the shots with a Cabinet destroying the agencies they are supposed to lead.

        1. Really excellent comment, keep it up. Law enforcement everywhere plays too many games with organized crime. Look at how Mueller’s FBI turned a blind eye to Whitey Bulger’s murderous crime gang in Boston.

      1. Until today I had no idea that bettykath was capable of sarcasm. Way to go bettykath. Stop holding out on us. Please?

    2. “…groups like the CIA.” You should say DEA, they started this drug war in central & south america. That’s why so many are leaving that area. This all goes back to the War on Some Drugs. So don’t look for sense in it, there isn’t any. End the WarOnDrugs and the cartels will go out of biz. Save a lot of wasted govt. $$ too. But that would ‘send the wrong signal.’ And hurt the power-players who love their wars. https://www.ratical.org/ratville/CAH/warisaracket.html

      1. “…groups like the CIA.” You should say DEA, they started this drug war in central & south america. That’s why so many are leaving that area.

Latin American countries have high crime rates. All of them bar the Southern Cone republics do. It’s a function of their disordered culture and institutional life, not the under cover operations of an American agency with a three-digit overseas workforce that did not exist prior to 1968.

Liberals never stop lying these days.

          1. The Appendix to the Budget of the United States Government enumerates the head count of federal agencies.

        1. You may not be familiar with Costa Rica. It’s a long story and I”m not your teacher. But Enigma is on to something seriously worth considering

    3. Enigma you are partly right about that, a very good comment. It also relates to all the phony “democracy” that was promoted in Mexico to weaken the state by weakening the PRI. what a disaster it has become. Good comment!

But who can reign in the CIA? See where it got JFK

      1. Mr Kurtz – JFK didn’t have much luck with the FBI either.
I was reminded that Deep Throat from Watergate turned out to be the No. 2 man in the FBI, maybe Trump isn’t so foolish after all to want everyone gone that has actually seen much of the evidence against him?

  10. Au contraire. It is not ICE that is a terrorist organization ICE is only a police agency, law enforcxement which along with their brothers and sisters in the military are charged with carrying out the two basic duties of the government. Protection of the citizens from all enemies domestic and foreign. Nothing more.

But there is indeed a terrorist organization. It began in one area as the Party of Slavery and in another as The Party oc complete control joining together inour country as the Progressive Liberals, pretending to be something called Democrats in an non Democracy. but in truth The Party of Terrorism. Witness the Circle or Cycle of Repression or Economic Repression they use in their efforts. That written by Carlos Marighella of the Brazilean Communist Party and meant to bring the revolutions from the hills to the cities.

They have one major ability and that is play the chameleon and blame others for what they are.

What is their current platform? The terror of not only reinstating higher taxes on the working class but punishing the working class even more for daring to revolt against them.

It was not a revolt though it was and is a counter revolution against terror.

What is their current tactic. Inviting yioung children to our borders, redirecting them to the deserts needlessly when there are 88 ports of entry which will provide them with that for which they seek. Then using them to advance The Party. Straight up Marxist Leninism.

    You all know the rest.

In 2016 we started the counter revolution led in no small part by our own military upholding their oath of offfice to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. Someone coined Ballots Not Bullets and in the end we ejected the Forces of Terrorism but not to the extent needed.

So for those who made up the Phantom Army the Left pretends doesn’t exist. 40% of the vote last time by 2020 should be 50% plus with no need for a party except one. We need some in office who can change their party affiliation to Constitutional Republic Party and who will support a Constitutional Centrist Coalition.

From both current parties. Including the Colin Lambs who I’m sure is a former Marine not an ex Marine and who upholds to this day he Oath of Office as a Marine.

It isn’t hard. Register, vote when needed support the Constitution and finish the job we started in 2016.

If it gets dicy… we have OUR military and our good law enforcers. But now is the time to ensure their ranks are purged and cleaned. including our voting rolls. We are the greatest danger he former administration faced as does their current face. We are their worst nightmare when the lights go out and they live within their fears . We are the phantom army. What we do we do under the Constitution.

    Pass It ON.

    1. My god, it’s hard to believe anyone would have this warped view of our country but then look who is president. Disturbing to see a discussion of CLEANSING and purging. I believe in the basic goodness of the American people. I hope it re-emerges soon.

      1. Good Americans exist. Three million more of them voted in 2016, than did those who support depravity.

          1. TS to Dance,..
            – He/she may or not be a “good American”.
I think it’s possible for even a sanctimonious puke like CB to be a “good American”, so that obvious characteristic is not an automatic disqualifier.

  12. Senators Feinsteins Bill would stop all arrests of illegal aliens with in 100 Miles of the Border, so that would mean no Border Patrol, No ICE. So yes Democrats want Open Borders.

    1. Curiously enough they voted for suspension of the Constitution within 100 miles of the borders and sea coasts already when it could be applied against terrorism. But forgot to exclude themselves as they did with the terrorist provisions of the Patriot Act. Libs are not as smart as they pretend to be.

    2. We favor the right of return of the descendants of those who lived there before the US stole the land from Mexico.

      1. Who is We? I’m not sure you have thought this all the way through. If you truly believe there was no legitimate action in acquiring those lands, then where does it end? And when you answer that, then ask yourself why it should end there?

        1. Olly,…
I thought that the Spanish stoled it from the Indians, the Mexicans took over from the Soanish, and the U.S. took over from Mexico.
Seems like “the right of return” would require transfer of said land to the Indians.
Does any of this fit in with natural law?😊☺

          1. It always fits within natural law. 🙂 We have a natural and unalienable right to life, liberty and property. Security of those rights is not unalienable, that must be fought for, whenever and wherever necessary..

      2. We stole nothing from Mexico. The number of Mexican peninsulares, criollos, mestizos, and mission Indians resident in the southwest might have been about 20,000. There was no Mexican society there outside of an outpost here or there. The notion that the territory was ‘Mexican’ was a diplomatic fiction.

You could improve the quality of life in this country by leaving it. You might select a place wretched enough that your presence would only make it marginally worse.

    1. There’s no question about that. A comment above said, “two basic duties of the government…. Protection of the citizens from all enemies domestic and foreign”, One wonders why they are not protecting us from the incompetents in Congress and from Israeli and Saudi interference in our elections and policy making.

      1. No. There’s a supply-side and a demand-side in electoral contests. The contestants are a function of the supply side. You’re seeing the issue of the social dynamics among local elites. The problem, really, is the decline in the quality of our bourgeois element and the decline in the relative quality of those among them who get involved in politics. Bill Frist spent 12 years in Congress, as befits a man with the talents and skills to do other things with his life. Addison Mitchell McConnell has spent 33 years in Congress and over 45 years on public payrolls generally.

        1. The problem, really, is the decline in the quality of our bourgeois element and the decline in the relative quality of those among them who get involved in politics.

No. While I agree with the supply and demand example; the supply side does not simply walk into the halls of congress and pick out their desk. They still are required to win that contest. If the quality of the supply side is poor, it is because that is what the demand side will buy.

          1. They still are required to win that contest. If the quality of the supply side is poor, it is because that is what the demand side will buy.

Elections tell you what people put up with; sometimes that’s very unedifying (see the 1992 presidential election). Very commonly what they’re choosing between is a banal local lawyer running against a banal local real estate agent. Whatever their level of civic virtue, you’re going to have a cheesy careerist occupying that seat.

            1. I know you don’t do requests, but I’d like to make a suggestion, anyway. Figure out a phrase for which the acronym would be Tada, then make that your “handle.”

            2. Whatever their level of civic virtue, you’re going to have a cheesy careerist occupying that seat.

Not if their civics literacy is sustained. Again, this is a supply/demand equation as you expressed. There will be no careerist opportunity if voters reject the cheesy incumbent. Term limits would help, but no cheesy careerist will support that initiative. So it all comes back to a sustained effort over multiple election cycles for voters to improve the quality of the candidates they are supplied.

  13. According to Rasmussen, the “people” are blaming the illegal immigration problems on the parents, not ICE, so I think the DNC needs to do more focus groups again.

    1. A functioning constitutional order requires a multiplicity of contestants which meet at least some baseline of public-spiritedness. Otherwise, you’re best alternative is a sort of pluralistic political machine state like Russia. (Though Russia is Russia for reasons which aren’t derived from the dysfunctions of the political opposition). I’m not liking this moment in our history very much. The partisan Democrats on these threads give you a sense the creepy-crawlies under the rock.

In the short-term I suppose we stand back and watch Democratic pols play these games. Nancy Pelosi drops the hanky and…

  14. They came here illegally. They’re not supposed to be here. Say what you want, they crossed the border illegally.

      1. Weird, I had no idea our military and CIA were going across other nations borders, having babies and declaring that they have the same rights as the citizens of those nations. If you have any examples (preferably in the millions) please educate us.

  15. Wow the IRS, who collects our taxes and ICE, which enforces our immigration rules and borders are nowhere near the same thing. How are you a law professor?

    1. You need to go back to school and take reading comprehension 101… If that’s what you took from this essay, you have serious issues with the English language.

  16. Surely, Prof. Turley, you mean ‘oxymoronic independent and moderate’ fascism enablers, as opposed to the true-believing cult worshippers who blindly and fanatically fuel Trump’s attempted deconstruction of the Founders’ experiment in democratic republicanism, eh?

      1. Turley wrote, “Trump clearly believes that immigration is the ultimate wedge issue for voters and polls would seem to support that view. What may play well in the primaries could give Trump a significant advantage in the general election with independent and moderate voters.”

Portent401 wrote, “Surely, Prof. Turley, you mean ‘oxymoronic independent and moderate’ fascism enablers, as opposed to the true-believing cult worshippers who blindly and fanatically fuel Trump’s attempted deconstruction of the Founders’ experiment in democratic republicanism, eh?”

That is an example of rebuttal by paraphrase. And it wasn’t too hard too figure out. Maybe if you put the mokorotlo back on your flag you’ll fare better next time.

    1. Trump attempts to put the decisions in this issue back in the hands of Congress, where is supposed to be, and you call that deconstruction? Your partisanship is outweighing what little intelligence you have.

      1. Trump tweeted Congressional Republicans telling them quite literally to stop wasting their time trying to get a comprehensive immigration bill passed. Why? Solving a problem that Trump deliberately created is the last thing Trump wants the Congress to do. Pay attention, Wally Moran.

        1. OMG. You thought President Trump was afraid that Congress would solve the immigration problem??

Are you serious??? This is something you truly believe?????

          FFS.

    2. I don’t understand your reasoning. The President is working every day to get this country back on track after the “eight-year” attempt to being completely “transformed”!

        1. I wish it were funny. Unfortunately, Trump is the one “transforming” America into a country that no longer welcomes and accommodates asylum seekers because granting asylum creates potential sponsors for the dreaded chain migration that Trump wants to end.

          1. Breaking news: “Asylum seekers” are not the same thing as illegal immigrants. Asylum seekers enter through the ports of entry; the illegal aliens sneak across the border.

I don’t recall any time in America’s history where she welcomed invaders sneaking across her borders. You will recall that the immigrants who helped build this fine country came in through the front door.

            1. Asylum seekers enter through the ports of entry; the illegal aliens sneak across the border.

              FFS,
Kind of like the mom and son that knocks on your door asking for help because gangs are terrorizing them in their neighborhood. That would be asylum-seekers. The same mom and son sneaking in through the window may be looking for help (asylum), but that claim does not seem credible after breaking into your home. Especially given the fact they traveled 500 miles, bypassed legal stops for help, just to get into your home.

                1. I suspect they get it. It just happens to be a lifeline they were thrown as the IG report came out. Their moral compass is more like a windsock.

    3. Surely you need to learn some history as the founders excluded, pointedly rejected the idea of a democracy in any form nine times when writing the Constitution. There is no Democracy and Democrats to say the leas tare far far far from being democratic.

It’s called a Representative Constitutional Republic and that tripe phrase you wrote exists nowhere but in your mind and the flaked snow of your false version. Think not:? Cite for me where in the Constitution you can find democratic republicanism though I see the use of the last word indicates we have you on the run. few months ago it would never have been mentioned.

  17. Am I missing something, or have these lefty’ s forgot that these people are not aliens. They are illegal aliens.

      1. “Illegal alien” refers to their status under the Immigration and Naturalization Act. If they are in the U.S. without legal authorization, they are indeed, illegal aliens.

    1. I think Pelosi/Schumer are encouraging anger from the lefties in this country to the point of mass hysteria. The level of anger over anything to do with immigration is boiling over. Peter Fonda wants Brandon Trump kidnapped; he’s sunk so low he’s threatening a child! Democrats are calling for the elimination of ICE; leaving the borders unguarded and y’all come! I see madness in Adam Schiff’s eyes as he constantly claims Russia is controlling everybody! Is no one on the left frightened? Maxine Waters is the worst of all. Do these people have no respect for the Presidency and the rule of law? Do they think they are immune from our laws? Then some yo-yo restaurant, The Red Hen, tells Sarah Sanders and seven others they need to leave because they work for Trump! The President of the United States! That party needs to get themselves under control and start acting like adults! We are a prestigous country the world looks up to, not the bozos running amuck!

For those of you who’ve been around here awhile, where have some of the regulars gone!

      1. Here and there we have other duties but we are never that far away and it looks lie we are needed here less and less so good post and enjoy!

      2. Sandi Hemming blathered, “We are a prestigous country the world looks up to, not the bozos running amuck!”

When Trump transforms America into a country that no longer welcomes and accommodates asylum seekers, the world will stop looking up to us as a prestigious country. And that makes Trump, Sessions, Nielsen and, most of all, Steven Miller the bozos running amuck–exactly as Putin bids them to do.

      3. Good post Sandi. The root cause of this current issue is the same as it is for every issue: VOTES. The Left no more cares about these poor, unfortunate asylum seekers today than they did in the previous administration. Here’s Obama’s DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson on the topic:

“We can’t have catch and release,” said Johnson. “And in my 3 years we deported or repatriated or returned over a million people.”

“We did not want to go so far as to separate families, but unless we deal with the underlying causes that are motivating people in the first place we are going to continue to bang our heads against the wall on this issue,” he said.

The problem for the democrats is they had to run with this current outrage way too early. And why? Because the IG report blew up the Russian collusion story and they needed to regain control of the narrative. We will see over the next couple of months stoked outrage. There will be protests, violence, harassment of government officials and fake news stories. No matter how hard the Left will try, this will lose steam. The Democrats and Republicans will be left with video montages of what took place, as well as quotes to campaign on. It won’t matter how well they piece it all together for political points; it will barely move the needle.

This will be a long, hot summer and the voter’s BS meter will be pegged. Expect something else to make it on the front pages in late September or October.

          1. Agreed. The harassment of Sec. Nielsen and of the Attorney-General of Florida were contrived. Only a small minority of people would ever recognize a federal or state cabinet secretary in any setting, much less stage a confrontation. This is sorosphere rent-a-crowd (just like the BLM protests in Ferguson, Mo).
