Video Of Confrontation At White House Edited To Cut Out Reporter’s Initial Taunting Of Crowd

Yes, we have come to this. Yesterday the White House was the setting for a scene that seems to capture the total loss of decorum in our politics and press. Playboy reporter and CNN contributor Brian Karem can be shown heaping scorn on fathering conservative social media figures like some Internet troll. Former Trump official Sebastian Gorka then responds by heaping insults on Karem. It was an utter disgrace, but President Trump responded by praising Gorka. Never side deserves praise of any kind.

What is equally troubling is that videos posted by outlets like the Washington Post and reported on cable cut out Karem’s unprofessional taunting and only showed Gorka’s boorish response:

The Post camera may not have captured the initial statements of Karem but there were other videos available that showed the full story. Otherwise, it looked like Gorka simply charged at the line of journalists. Here is the full clip:

Why edit out Karem’s insulting the group? There are valid objections to the event, but Karem’s “demonic possession” line was little more than taunting and trolling. Karem’s response that “we can go outside and have a long conversation” is equally unprofessional.

The entire affair was a disgrace to both the White House and White House press corp. The fact that people immediately edited the tape to create false impressions only magnifies the concern over the state of our political and press values.

We recently saw a young man sue the media, including the Washington Post, for editing of a tape at the Lincoln Memorial to make him look like he engaged in an unprovoked racist attack. It appears that the lawsuits have not deterred some in Washington.

          The dress is not an actual flag, but has elements of the flag in it. In the same manner, most 9/11 shirts have flag emblems. Bunting has the stripes.

    Dem Black Caucus member rips ‘ignorance’ coming from AOC’s camp and juvenile freshman ‘squad’

    Rep. William Lacy Clay joined the growing criticism of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her “inappropriate” attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

    The Missouri Democrat and member of the Congressional Black Caucus called out Ocasio-Cortez and her “squad” of freshman Democrats for the “ignorance” shown in accusing Pelosi of being racially insensitive.

    Clay had blasted Ocasio-Cortez for “using the race card” in her attack on Pelosi.

    “What a weak argument, because you can’t get your way and because you’re getting pushback you resort to using the race card? Unbelievable. That’s unbelievable to me,” he said, according to The Hill. “I could care less. I could really care less. I agree with the Speaker. Four people, four votes out of 240 people, who cares.”

    “It shows you how weak their argument is when they have to resort and direct racist accusations toward Speaker Pelosi … it’s very disappointing to me,” he added.

    The Missouri Democrat also blasted Chakrabarti and the progressive Democrats as “juvenile” and “ignorant.”

    “It shows you how ignorant and little history [Chakrabarti] knows, how ignorant he is to American history. How dare he,” Clay said.

    “They’re missing the fact that we have a very thin margin of a majority that we’re operating under and apparently it doesn’t matter to Justice Democrats, they just want to get skins. They want to score points for whatever reason,” he added, according to The Hill.

    “But I find it juvenile, their tactics, I find their ignorance to be beyond belief about American history and about who are really segregationists,” Clay said. “And so how dare they try to play the race card at this point, it shows you the weakness of their arguments.”

    In young Mr. Sandmann’s case, the full one hour, forty five minute-long video posted on YouTube showing what happened to the Covington Catholic High because I and several other people posted it to the comment space under an article in the Washington Post supporting the negative narrative aimed at the Covington Kids.

    They didn’t change their statements which this clip clearly contradicts after this longer clip was posted. The Covington kids were clearly the most respectful and adult acting participants in that event on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and of them, Sandman, who if not on a step or two above the “indian”, is pipsqueak kid, the most adult acting of that group. He and they were wrongly portrayed in early coverage based on a video posted anonymously by a less than objective source. There is no evidence that the post edited that video as JT alleges and with in 3 days the Post wrote about the new evidence in additional 3rd party videos.

      The Covington incident was a rorschact test that most on the left failed even after new evidence in the form of those videos, as well new information like the most reasonable interpretation of the tomahawk chop was not racism, but the common sports chant by Braves, Seminoles, and Chief fans that teenage boys would likely be familiar with. As for MAGA hats, again these were kids aping their parents beliefs and many – not all – will shed them as they mature.

      Facts matter and that is a lesson all should learn from this incident, though the left failed this one.

  11. In a nutshell, Karem told Gorka to come on over so he could hit him. Gorka immediately stepped right up, and Karem turned away. Sounds like someone’s mouth is writing checks he can’t cover.

    1. If the target of a bully ignores it, the situation usually escalates. The only way to make it stop is to stand your ground. Make it clear that bullying will prove unpleasant for the perpetrator.

      More people need to call attention to the Left’s harassment. They’ve gotten a free pass and have become emboldened to the point that they chase conservative families out of restaurants.

      Inform the public, and perhaps the perpetrators will stop.

        You will note that the clips included on the blog post cut that part out. The second clip in the post cut out from Karem’s angle, so you can’t really hear him to tell Gorka to come step outside. The clip I included stuck on Karem’s angle. You will notice that after Karem brashly told Gorka to step outside, Gorka went right up to him. All of a sudden, Karem deflated and wasn’t interested in stepping outside any longer.

        Karem insulted Gorka, and Gorka called him on it. Loudly. This needs to be done repeatedly every single time Leftists harass and insult conservatives. They’ve gotten away with it for so long they feel entitled to behave like toddlers. Gorka didn’t throw poop on his shoes. He didn’t deck him, although he’d been threatened with a fight. He said he was no journalist but rather a punk. Since he’s a playboy “journalist”, perhaps he should stick to interviewing bunnies in the grotto.

        That’s rather tame even for the House of Lords.

  12. What has long passed for acceptable behavior is for Leftists in the media, academia, politics, Hollywood et al openly insult conservatives. They call them every name in the book, and there doesn’t seem to be a line they won’t cross. Conservatives are expected to roll over and take it.

    That high ground approach didn’t work, because it allowed Leftists to define what conservatives are. That’s why the youngest generation is so misinformed as to believe conservatives are fascist. They don’t know what conservatives stand for, and I doubt they know what fiscal conservatism even means.

    Conservatives have to do better in communication.

    Gorka loudly and emphatically called attention to the fact that Karem physically threatened him. He called him no journalist at all, but a punk. Is there any other way to describe someone who insults a group of people standing there in the Rose Garden, and then physically threatens his target who criticizes him?

    This is notjournalism, but rather activism. A journalist reports the facts. Claiming conservatives desire demonic possession is beneath the standards of professional journalism.

    Exhibit B is when the mainstream media selectively edited out what Karem said, changing the entire meaning of the situation.

    Again, this is political activism, not journalism.

    People targeted by political harassment have the right to stand up for themselves. I am happy that there was no violence. Hopefully, this will serve as a lesson to other activists not to harass people. Of course, that will only be true if the media is forced to show Karem’s threat.

  19. The Pinko press constantly expresses outrage over Pres. Trump’s calling out “fake news”. This is just further proof that he has a point.

    I think that most thinking people have come to recognize that they need to have numerous sources of news in order to be accurately informed.

    If you go with a biased news source (regardless of viewpoint), you will get biased news. Unfortunately, this bias has shaded into propaganda for many of these sources.

    Basically, many news people are liars and yet they maintain privileged positions with access to government.

    This is a (necessary) flaw in our system and is a cost of the First Amendment – one that we can (and do) adapt to.

    The only antidote is that we are consumers of news need to inform ourselves of the truth by being exposed to many viewpoints.

    As an aside, I have noticed that many commentators on this site (especially the anonymous ones), have gotten more strident and antagonistic. I think that it is a reaction to being on a site that does not kowtow to their fascistic impulses.

      It is glaringly apparent a large percentage of consumers of the news aren’t as concerned with the truth as they are in confirming their biases. We’ve seen it time and again on this blog where incontrovertible evidence is dismissed if it doesn’t conform to one’s “understanding” of the truth. That truth being one’s ideological worldview. I don’t know if it is an antidote, but somewhere along the line we’ve convinced people that human nature has improved with age. That misguided understanding leads people to ignore the lessons of history. And the result of course is we continue to repeat them.

          I’m optimistic our current long train of abuses will eventually reach that threshold for altering and/or abolishing whatever we’ve turned into. I’m a realist in that nothing I’ve seen gives me confidence it will happen in my lifetime.
