We have repeatedly discussed the bizarre claim of former Vice President Joe Biden that “no one has suggested my son has anything wrong.” Biden has lashed out at media for raising the dubious business dealings of his son during his tenure as vice president. That weird pathology of denial continued in an interview with Savannah Guthrie where he became clearly angry over the raising of this continuing controversy. Biden seems to expect the mainstream media to only ask such questions about the Trump family.
Guthrie actually framed the question in a clearly favorable light for Biden. Rather than treating the Biden matter as a legitimate concern (which it is), she asked about the “irony” of Trump raising such an issue. It was clearly not slanted enough for Biden who tried to end the discussion by saying “That’s a good thing and no one’s found anything wrong with his dealings with Ukraine except, that say it’s a bad image.”
What drew Biden’s ire was the audacity of Guthrie giving a follow up: “Do you agree that it sets a bad image?”
Biden responded “Yeah,” Biden said. “And my son said that.” But Guthrie persisted to ask if Biden feels that it was wrong given that his son was given the windfall contract because of his name and possible access to his father. That was when Biden got angry: “Well, that’s not true. You’re saying things you do not know what you’re talking about. No one said that. Who said that?”
When Guthrie tied to respond, Biden cut her off with “Who said that?”
That would be quite a list. Many have denounced this contract as blatant and corrupt influence peddling. Biden however continues to pretend that no one is raising this concern, which was a running narrative in the impeachment trial. Even Trump critics have acknowledged that this was an obvious effort at influence peddling.
Democrat Supporter of “Mayor Pete” Shocked to Learn That the Candidate Running On the Brand Identity of “I’m GAY!” Is a Homosexual
The Democrat Party, the party of the intellectual elite.
A caucusgoer in Iowa retracted her support for Democratic candidate Pete Buttigieg, asking if she could take her preference card back after learning that he was in a same-sex relationship.
The interaction occurred between two women in the middle of a caucus event Monday night in a video that went viral.
In the video, one woman wears a pin that labeled her a “precinct captain” for the Buttigieg campaign. The other woman wears a Buttigieg sticker and a bright green pin for the campaign of Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
“So, are you saying that he has a same-sex partner?” the second woman asked.
“Yes,” the Buttigieg organizer said.
“Well then I don’t want anybody like that in the White House, the woman said before asking if she could get her card back.
In related news, this woman was the Project Manager for Shadow, Inc.’s caucus vote tabulating app.

“Why are all of the stupid people tRump supporters? Ignorance loves company perhaps? If you can’t answer, ask Allan, Olly, etc.”
YNOT, think how stupid you must be to be unable to answer your own question.
You know how sometimes you look at a scenario and the more you think about it, the more issues come to mind. For example, the current “accepted” Joe Biden Ukraine story is roughly, “Biden was executing US policy as well as our ally the EU policy, IMF policy, and the policy of the Ukrainian parliament in removing the corrupt prosecutor Shokin.”
So it came to me the more I dealt with this, that this is a ludicrous and laughable story. Think about it. The whole dang EU is involved, and International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the whole Ukrainian parliament and their Super Sekrit plan put into effect by then Vice President Joe Biden was – – – now wait for it- – – fire one schlub named Victor Shokin! Yep, that’ll fix that whole Ukrainian corruption problem! That is laughable. The Ukraine has over 40 million people, and that one schlub is the holdup on curing all the massive corruption. Laughable and unbelievable.
If you believe the Biden-spin, ask yourself what a letter from the EU, or the IMF would read like, maybe:
——–
Dear Joe Biden,
After a lot of investigation, we think we have the answer to getting rid of all the corruption in The Ukraine. You got to get them to fire Victor Shokin, the Prosecutor! Because that will fix everything. This is so important, that it is fine with us if you threaten to hold up their billion dollars in foreign aid!
Yours very truly!
——
Now can you imagine such a scenario as being a credible depiction? Because I can not. There would be a 10 point plan, with various penalties, and different phases, and due diligence, and followup.
No way it would just be, “Fire Shokin!” Anyone believing that would have to be very childish, uneducated, or just a very gullible partisan, or a shill.

Sounds so much like Nathan Thurm. /Users/randygerdes/Desktop/imgres.html
Cleary JT doesn’t know what he’s talking about, or is shameless shill for Trump and the GOP. Has he noticed there is a lying sleazebag in the WH who says outrageous and stupid crap multiple times everyday, and who by the way, hides his and his family business income while having that family negotiating who knows what deals where, and as officials of the US.
HELLLLOOOOO! ANYBODY HOME?
Meanwhile, if JT gets his news wherever Karen gets hers, and doesn’t read my posts where I have corrected her on this numerous times, Biden was executing US policy as well as our ally the EU policy, IMF policy, and the policy of the Ukrainian parliament in removing the corrupt prosecutor Shokin. He has been so named by a now GOP congressman Fitzgerald who was FBI in the Ukraine as an advisor on corruption when this occurred. Trump appointed special envoy Volkervouched for Biden’s good work there during his testimony before the house, as did Amb. Taylor. Ambassador Yavonovitch, and career SD David Hale.
In short there is no there there, though JT has made a habit of wasting our time while smearing Democrats on this type column day after day now. Does he care about facts and fairness? Prove it.

You don’t have the education or credentials to “correct” anyone, Gainesville.
Mespo, I have the facts, which everyone reading this can see you are unable to address.
GV,
You have what Sleepy Joe Biden would characterize as truths. Facts (evidence) are an extinct species to your ilk.
Olly is like Mespo, another CS ankle biter who knows better than to try and engage on the facts. I posted them. Prove me wrong.
The term ‘fact’ does not mean what you fancy it means.
One of TIA’s favorite retorts:
“The term [fill in the blank] does not mean what you fancy it does.”
This is a turd’s 💩 does stink.
Facts and the SOTU:
In Trump’s 1st 35 months, there have been 1.3 million less jobs created than in Obama’s last 35 months.
The crime rate among immigrants is lower than among ex-Trump !employees.
Trump has done nothing about preexisting conditions and there are 3 million fewer Americans with health insurance than when he took office.
After short term juicing the economy with a tax cut which is fading and now expected to yield trillion dollar deficits for a decade, Trump’s average GDP growth is only .3% higher than during Obama’s last term. There has only been one quarter above 3% – Obama had several – as promised, and none on the horizon as the economy slows.
The “powerful” wall Mespo and TIA are paying for blew over recently and some sections have bottom panels removed for months at a time to allow for flash floods.
Like Trump, Limbaugh has never fought for freedom.
Must be a reason why byethebook is using Obama’s LAST 3 year record v. Trump’s first 3 year record, instead of an apples-to-apples comparison of the first three years of with administrations.
I’ll take one of Anon’s statements (he lies and distorts alot)
“Trump’s average GDP growth is only .3% higher than during Obama’s last term. There has only been one quarter above 3% – Obama had several ”
Obama used tremendous economic spending to increase GDP growth and the year after QE ceased the growth rate fell. Obama did nothing to turn the ecomomy around which takes time to yield fruit. Trump turned the economy around in a world where many economies were doing poorly. That is why we shine now but not so much under Obama.
Obama’s economic indicators were trending down and even he didn’t believe we could reverse the trend.
In his Last year Obama’s GDP growth was 1.6%. Trump has been 2.4, 2.9 and 2.3 despite the fact that in turning the economy around Trump had a trade war with China and others knowing his GDP growth numbers would be lower because of that.
Facts and the SOTU:
1.3 million more new jobs during Obama’s last 35 months vs Trump’s first 35 months.
Average GDP growth under Trump only .3% greater than Obama’s last term, now slowing and after a deficit busting tax cut. Promised 3% growth happened for one quarter, Obama had several.
Crime rate among immigrants is lower than among ex-Trump executive employees.
The “powerful” wall Mespo and TIA are paying for blew over in a recent storm and has removable panels in some sections at the bottom left out for months to allow for flash floods.
Trump has done nothing about pre-existing conditions and there are at least 3 million fewer Americans without health care then when he took office.
Like Trump, Limbaugh has never fought for freedom.
Facts and Anon seldom if ever coexist. He has spun his yarns before and he will continue doing so. Anyone with half a brain can see that the economy under Trump is fantastic.
These types of figures cannot be used in absolute terms (if true in the first place since Anon’s measurements frequently are conflated with data that makes the measurements useless).
Every time anyone dug down into the numbers Anon was proven to be wrong.
You said, “Biden was executing US policy as well as our ally the EU policy, IMF policy, and the policy of the Ukrainian parliament in removing the corrupt prosecutor Shokin.”

You have good reason to be suspicious. There is no evidence that Biden was responsible for getting rid of that prosecutor. The Prosecutor himself testified to an Austrian court that he did not find out about the story that Biden had him fired until 2 years later when Biden made the video bragging that he got the prosecutor fired.
Straw dog Sadie Mae.
Next?
Yeah sure! Firing one prosecutor would just magically un-corrupt the whole dang Ukraine!
______________________________________________
Well yes it could do exactly that, but it didn’t…
The prosecutor is the chief organizer of the Ukrainian corruption racket. When Shokin resigned another corrupt prosecutor took over. Getting rid of the prosecutor had no real effect on corruption in Ukraine. But an honest prosecutor could have changed everything.
The EU and IMF and Biden did not ask for the firing of the prosecutor. The demands the IMF made (and the others supported) were for changes in the Constitution and the Ukrainian law. Those legislative changes included taking away the powers of the Prosecutor General who was effectively second in command in the country. If you go to the IMF website you can find a long list of demands that were made in order to continue loan guarantees (firing the prosecutor was not on that list)
The prosecutor general had supreme power over the Judicial system, Law enforcement and the Legislative branch of govt. Nothing happened in those areas of govt without the PG consent and approval.
The Loan guarantees to Ukraine did not come thru until a bunch of Constitutional and Legislative reform were passed. Those reforms included taking away some of the power of the Prosecutor General.
The IMF withheld loans for about one year. The Ukrainians dragged their feet for many month but eventually started to pass the laws that the IMF wanted as their economy began to tank. After the IMF got the reform legislation they wanted the loans were released. There is no evidence that the resignation of the Prosecutor General had anything to do with Ukraine getting loans.
By The Book Makes Crucial Point
Amid the impeachment trial, Trump presented a “Middle East Plan” that is nothing of the sort. The ‘plan’ grants Israel the right to annex West Bank settlements while keeping a strip of border with Jordan. Palestinians would be left with an inadequate state resembling a gerrymandered congressional district.
And ‘who’ designed this peace plan? ‘Jared Kushner’, of all people, Trump’s Jewish son-in-law. Kushner became the architect of this plan only because he married Trump’s daughter. In fact neither Jared nor Ivanka had any real credentials to serve as Senior White House Advisers.
Therefore it becomes as a joke when Trump supporters keep harping on nepotism with regards to the Bidens. There’s plenty of nepotism right there in the White House.
“Amid the impeachment trial, Trump presented a “Middle East Plan” that is nothing of the sort. The ‘plan’ grants Israel the right to annex West Bank settlements while keeping a strip of border with Jordan.”
Peter, Judea and Samaria is and was legally part of Israel. “Palestinians” have no legal claim.
Peter, Judea and Samaria is and was legally
Again, this is a nonsense statement. There is no such thing as international law.
DSS,you may not believe in international law and there is reason not to but international law exists whatever you feel about it. Judea and Sumaria are part of Israel based on that law. If you wish to say international law really doesn’t count and land won in battle that is held belongs to that nation then Judea and Sumaria are also part of Israel.
You can choose whichever one suits you or you can choose a third.
Peter, did it occur to you to quit being a reflexive political partisan for five minutes and ponder the actual problems in the area (and why ALL peace plans over a period of 50 years have failed).?
Tabby, I think neither Israel nor the West Bank is adequately large enough to survive as nations independent of each other. I think the only solution is for them is to merge as one single nation with appropriate representation in a parliamentary system.
It would be hard for Jews and Muslims to share the same borders. But they’re basically sharing that space already. If Whites and Blacks in the U.S. can live together. Jews and Muslims can make a go of it.
Peter, Israel has survived many wars against countries whose populations vastly exceed yours without your help while its people created many important high tech and other advances that you probably utilize on a daily basis. All of a sudden you are going to say it can’t survive independently? You are an arrogant idiot that knows very little and talks alot.
Muslims live in Israel, vote in Israel, are on the Israeli Knesset and on the Israeli Supreme Court. I don’t know how you became so ignorant. People generally aren’t born that way.
“Do you agree that it sets a bad image?”

Senile Biden heard Guthrie say, “Do you think that sets a bad scrimmage?” And nobody — but nobody — impugns Biden’s favorite NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Why he predicts QB Norm Van Brocklin will have a banner year next season and Coach Andy Reid will get the most out of his boys in green even though he’s been strangely absent this year. Biden has already purchased his season pass at Veterans Stadium and lo and behold somehow managed to snag 50-yard line seats there and over the parking lot at the Spectrum where he’ll see Bobby Clarke and Bernie Parent lead the Flyers to another Stanly Cup win over Orr, Esposito and the Big, Bad Bruins. He said last year that Kate Smith never looked or sounded better singing “Indian War Dance.”
Who says this guy is slowing down?

LIMBAUGH POO-POOED TOBACCO RISKS NOT LONG AGO
During a discussion with a caller to “The Rush Limbaugh Show” back in April 2015, Limbaugh denied second-hand smoke was a danger and said it takes 50 years for smokers to get cancer.
The caller was questioning Limbaugh’s logic that society should be thankful for smokers because of the tax money generated from the sale of tobacco products.
After asking who smokers were harming, Limbaugh denied second-hand smoke caused any deaths.
“That is a myth. That has been disproven at the World Health Organization and the report was suppressed,” Limbaugh claimed. “There is no fatality whatsoever. There’s no even major sickness component associated with secondhand smoke. It may irritate you, and you may not like it, but it will not make you sick, and it will not kill you.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 2,500,000 nonsmokers have died from health problems caused by exposure to secondhand smoke since 1964.
Limbaugh went on to claim “firsthand smoke” isn’t that serious either.
“Firsthand smoke takes 50 years to kill people, if it does,” he said. “Not everybody that smokes gets cancer. Now, it’s true that everybody who smokes dies, but so does everyone who eats carrots.”
Limbaugh went on to ask why the government didn’t ban tobacco if it was so dangerous before claiming the society had vilified smokers, even though “their purchases are funding children’s health care programs.”
“I would like a medal for smoking cigars, is what I’m saying,” Limbaugh added.
Edited from: “Rush Limbaugh Denied Risks Of Smoking Years Before Cancer Diagnosis”
The New York Daily News, 2/4/20
Limbaugh denied second-hand smoke was a danger and said it takes 50 years for smokers to get cancer.
And your complaint about these assertions is what, Peter?
Tabby, it sounds like Limbaugh had been defiantly mistaken. He was, by all accounts, a frequent cigar smoker.
Are you disputing the science that links tobacco use and cancer?
He was a cigarette smoker earlier in life, Peter.
That you are not a smoker?
The Democrats don’t consider it news when one of their own takes money for inflluence with a relative (Hunter and Joe Biden, from the Chinese and Ukrainians, Bill and Hillary Clinton from the Russians). It’s news when Republicans are even accused of that, though. Even when the charges aren’t confirmed after a two year-long witch hunt.
Neither do the press, apparently. Too many of them are still flogging the “Russian collusion” horse which Dr. Mueller declared dead long ago, and have yet to investigate Biden & Son, Influence Sold to Order at all.
Nobody in the press disputes Hunter Biden was paid or given control over millions of dollars while his father was Vice President. No one in the press seems inclined to investigate why that happened, either.
He, at least he didn’t creep behind her, grab her shoulders, bury his nose in her hair, smell deeply, and say, “God, Guthrie, you smell so good. What do you say we just forget about all those nonsense questions about Ukraine and my son, Hunter, and let me massage your shoulders for a while?”
Not while the camera was on?

Iowa Might Have Screwed Up The Whole Nomination Process
To be even more blunt: The Iowa Democratic Party’s colossal screw-up in reporting results will potentially have direct effects on the outcome of the nomination process. The failure to report results will almost certainly help Biden, assuming that indications that he performed poorly in Iowa are correct, as they won’t get nearly as much media coverage. And they’ll hurt whichever candidate wins the state — most likely Sanders or Buttigieg. (Although if Sanders winds up finishing in second place or lower, he also might not mind a reduction in the importance of Iowa, especially with one of his best states, New Hampshire, coming up next.)
Furthermore, Iowa is typically a state that winnows the field. But with every candidate either having performed well there, potentially having an excuse for a disappointing finish there, or somewhere in between, it might not do that. Delaying the winnowing process would tangibly increase the chance of a contested convention.
It’s not a good situation for the Democratic Party. And it’s already too late for the damage to be entirely undone, even if Iowa eventually gets its act together.
Why is this man even running? What is it about Democrats over 70 years of age and a net worth over $10 Million that tells them they “need” to run for office?
Jonathan: Piling on Joe Biden seems to be the Republican election game plan. Academics, like you, are contributing to this effort. In his interview with Savannah Guthrie you say Biden “lashed out at the media” for continuing to raise the Hunter Biden issue and: “Biden seems to expect the mainstream media to only ask such questions about the Trump family”. But to be fair at least Biden didn’t take Guthrie into another room and berate her at length with expletive laced false accusations. I mention this because Biden’s intemperance doesn’t compare with Mike Pompeo’s bizarre performance when he was interviewed by NPR reporter Mary Louise Kelly last week. During the interview Kelly asked Pompeo about his failure to defend Ambassador Yovanovich, among other subjects. Pompeo became incensed and took Kelly into another room and cursed at her with profanities. Later Pompeo falsely claimed the interview was to be about only Iran. Kelly disputes this by saying she has E-mails that show she told Pompeo’s staff ahead of time she intended to ask both about Iran and Ukraine. After this episode Pompeo revoked the press credentials of NPR’s Michele Keleman who was scheduled to travel with Pompeo on his trip to Europe and Central Asia–in obvious retaliation for questions he didn’t like from Mary Louise Kelly. While in Kazakhstan Pompeo was asked by a reporter what message he was sending about press freedom after his treatment of Kelly and Keleman. Pompeo replied that it sent “a perfect message about press freedoms.” Indeed it did! Later Trump commended Pompeo for his handling of the Kelly interview. Not unexpected since Trump has spent almost his entire time in office attacking the “fake news” media and revokes the press credential of White House reporters who ask questions he doesn’t like. The problem is really not how Biden handled his interview. The real threat to an independent press comes from Pompeo and Trump–perhaps a subject you should address in a future column. Or, perhaps you won’t because Biden is a convenient distraction from the real threats to press freedoms in this country.
“Piling on Joe Biden seems to be the Republican election game plan.” I’m sorry, who’s “piling” on Joe Biden? He’s running for president as a Democrat, so allegations of criminal activity, which he bragged about on camera should be ignored? Why?
Is being a Democrat some kind of Teflon shield? Democrats in Congress went all in to obstruct an investigation, and now NBC can’t even gently ask a question while heavily implying support for Biden? All she asked was if the (alleged criminal activity) looked bad.
This obstruction into inquiry about Biden is frankly the stuff of dictatorship dreams.
Dennis, I am a little embarrassed for Prof Turley here. Based on what the Prof wrote, I expected to see a full-out Biden hissy fit. But no. Biden was irritated by some questions. But he conceded that Hunter’s acceptance of the Burisma job was not a good thing for him to have done. I do believe that Joe should have stopped Hunter from taking the job, and that this will turn off a lot of voters if Biden is the nominee. I hope that the D Party moves on and selects a younger, more appealing person. I happen to like Amy Klobuchar. But anyone who can defeat Trump gets my vote. Actually, I cannot think of any of the D candidates who would not get my vote versus El Presidente (i.e., Trump).
“Who said that?” Yoohoo! Joe Biden! I said that! A bunch of people on this blog said that! People all over the internet, in coffee houses, and on conservative media said that. Biden is aware of this. He keeps denying these allegations because they keep being brought up. So he’s blatantly lying when he claims he knows nothing about any allegation of wrongdoing.
