Sen. Murphy: The Crisis Is Due To Trump and Not China

798px-Chris_Murphy,_official_portrait,_113th_CongressYesterday, we discussed how the media has long mocked the theory that the coronavirus originated at a lab in Wuhan that was researching not just coronaviruses but specifically naturally occurring bat-based viruses.  Some have been discussing the obvious possibility that the lab, not the nearby market, was the source.  Recently, it was disclosed that embassy officials in January 2018 alerted U.S. officials of serious problems in the lab which was conducting risky research on bats, the very source of COVID-19. China is known to have concealed the outbreak and arrested doctors trying to alert the world.  Now key players in the diplomatic and intelligence community believe that indeed the Wuhan lab was the original source.  There is however one member who continues to maintain that this crisis is due not to China but President Donald Trump: Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn).

Sen. Murphy declared on Anderson Cooper: “The reason that we’re in the crisis that we are today is not because of anything that China did, is not because of anything the WHO did. It’s because of what this president did. It’s because he didn’t take this virus seriously. We weren’t going to be able to keep every case out of the United States, but we didn’t have to have tens of thousands of people dying.”

What is clear is that China cost the world weeks of preparation when travel restrictions and enhanced production of material might have saved thousands of lives.  There is certainly room to criticize the President for his early comments on the virus. However, there is a bizarre desire to shift the primary blame for this crisis from China to Trump.  Given the cost of tens of thousands of lives and millions of cases, it is highly disturbing to read such comments.

Millions have contracted a virus because China not only arrested those who wanted to warn the world but buried needed research on the origins of the virus.  That is putting aside the concern that the virus may have been released from the lab.

Once again, there is a legitimate debate if the White House did enough on the virus.  I am still trying to work through those criticisms because it seems like we are speaking about a relatively short period of a couple weeks.  However, none of that justifies the narrative that this is a crisis caused by Trump as opposed to the regime in China.

  1. The rapid spread of the Chinese Virus is a good reason why we don’t need open borders……why we don’t need closed borders…….but why we need controlled borders that allow the government to make quick decisions and do proper vetting. But, now it may be too late.

  2. What, exactly, is Trump supposed to have done? This is a HEALTH issue, not an attack by an enemy nation of a financial crisis, or it wasn’t until judges and governors turned it into one. It should be obvious that the measures taken in New York and New Jersey aren’t working. Trump restricted travel into the country from infected areas when the Democrats were screaming it was xenophobic. Governors and judges are throwing the Bill of Rights into the fireplace. It’s people like this idiot from Connecticut who are causing problems by politicizing the crisis.

    1. sem, not BS us until the end of March about how great we were doing, fail to use powers only he possesses like the Defensive Product Act and other emergency powers, and quit lying in his daily self dealing pep rallies about how it’s other peoples fault and how great we are doing. He’s a lying pig – see name on checks – completely unfit for office, and especially in a crisis requiring real leadership.

I hope I answered your question.

        1. Book is infected just like Murphy.
That is why they should be quarantined …..in China

  3. Turley, why don’t you write about this instead of stupid BS you can pretend has any consequences for anyone but the President who’s defense you struggle daily to prop up. This is his job and he promised results:

“As President Trump pushes to reopen the economy, most of the country is not conducting nearly enough testing to track the path and penetration of the coronavirus in a way that would allow Americans to safely return to work, public health officials and political leaders say.

Although capacity has improved in recent weeks, supply shortages remain crippling, and many regions are still restricting tests to people who meet specific criteria. Antibody tests, which reveal whether someone has ever been infected with the coronavirus, are just starting to be rolled out, and most have not been vetted by the Food and Drug Administration….

…“The more testing, the more open the economy. But there’s not enough national capacity to do this,” Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, said at his daily briefing in Albany. “We can’t do it yet. That is the unvarnished truth.”

As the governor spoke, a PowerPoint slide behind him said, “WE NEED FEDERAL SUPPORT.”

At his own briefing later in the day, Mr. Trump boasted of having “the most expansive testing system anywhere in the world” and said that some states could even reopen before May 1, the date his task force had tentatively set. Twenty-nine states, he added, “are in good shape.”….”

    1. Turley, why don’t you write about this instead…

Normal people would ask themselves that question and upon self-reflection determine it is their own willful ignorance that has been preventing understanding. We will not see a coming out party from book or Anon1.

  4. It’s beyond amusing to revolting to watch our GOP tool JT find another rash but basically true statement from the Democrats to distract from the fact – provable – that our President spent another 1/2 hour lying to the American public on national TV while shirking his duties and responsibility to lead the country. He does that every day, Nor has he apparently noted the fact that both the Chinese and our president are guilty of the exact same crime of causing loss of life by misrepresenting the crisis. Murphy had that part wrong. F… them both.

    1. Over here folks. Another engineer on the hatettrain in the throes of another little toddler “We lost the election and trump is a big poopyhead” tantrum. You all are embarrassing yourselves. Just can;t handle that the anti-Ameican left is responsible for anything never mind all the fear mongering and tyrannical actions by leftist/democrat/socialist/Nazi/communist governors. The president caused your heroes the red Chinese to release a virus on the world and then didn’t insist on completely unnecessary panic like all the leftist/democrat/socialist/Nazi/communists. YOu nimrods wouldn’t recognize leadership if it was right in front of you. YOUR idea of leadership is to run off a play golf while thousands died. FACTS indeed. Really? Get over yourself. Grow up. YOU ARE THE ENEMY!

    2. I have noticed that hot spots are unfolding similar here to wuhan

i have also noticed there’s a lot of confusion and apparently some dissembling and denial at the highest levels

      and a tardy response

there are plenty of differences, like, the US is global leader in sick cases now

and we probably will be until people learn to wear masks

and employers start making all the people wear masks not just restaurant workes and grocery–

but the bank tellers at drive through, the other financial sector workers that keep having meets– why can’t they just get masks and orders to wear them from their bosses? what is so hard about this?

I had an emergency face to face meeting and we wore our masks. this little thing is not rocket science
Trump may have some things to answer for but you cant blame Trump for every fluid ounce of massive ignorance and stupidity afoot in this country and we’re drowning in a tsunami of it.

  5. The reason we are in this crisis is because of idiots like Murphy. It’s because of idiots who want open borders to allow any diseased criminal in to our nation. It’s because of idiots who want sanctuary cities and sanctuary states. It’s because of idiots who think it is more important to conduct phony investigations of our President instead of responding to a crisis like this. It’s because of idiots who think this is a great opportunity to prolong the crisis just to punish President Trump and make him look bad. It’s because of idiotic democrats who are taking this opportunity to inflict their communistic ideas on us. It’s because of idiotic democrats who want to destroy our economy. It’s because of IDIOTS LIKE DEMOCRAT SENATOR MURPHY.

  6. I don’t think Trump did anything wrong except maybe not shut down travel from Europe sooner. But the bigger point is that it is impossible to actually analyze the job he did in the midst of the constant barrage of “DNC talking points” and “DNC spin” from the media.

What Trump goes thru is like The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf on steroids, meth, and PCP. The Democrats and the media have been accusing Trump of everything since 2016, and lying about him in the most ridiculous ways (for example the Russiagate silliness). So how could anyone take anything that a Democrat says, or that the media reports, or that the Democrat shills on this website say, seriously?

You can’t and it is their own fault. They brung this on themselves.

  7. It is interesting that people blame China for not properly warning the rest of the world (as if anybody would listen to China) but who was there to warn China?

China made it through this because they were prepared. Now everyone who was not prepared is blaming China.

China followed a strategy that worked. The US even with many weeks of advanced notice has not come up with a successful strategy

    https://www.theautomaticearth.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/CrushTheCurve.jpg

      1. You have no evidence that China is lying.
In the age of the internet you cannot hide these things. Millions of people outside China communicate with people inside China everyday.
I know personally 3 people here in the US that have or had the corona virus and I have talked to several people who personally know of a half dozen more cases. If there were as many cases of the virus in China that you believe there to be, there is no way the Chinese people would not know about it.

Keeping the death toll a secret would be a far more difficult task then what they did do, which was eradicate the virus. Eradicating the virus requires accurate reporting and quick response to every reported case.

        1. The CCP is doing everything it can to prevent accurate knowledge of what has occurred. It refused the entry of US epidemiologists, has thrown out foreign press, has used the WHO and people like you to spread false CCP propaganda.

There are first hand reports, videos etc. that demonstrate the heinous activities of the CCP but they also depend on anonymous people like you to spread their lies with generalites steering clear of what is actually known. The CCP knows it can depend on the Stupid to promote hate against America and love for the Communist Dictatorship of China.

          1. “There are first hand reports, videos etc. that demonstrate the heinous activities of the CCP”

The question is did Chinese response work. The evidence is overwhelming that it did work. The people in China appear to believe it worked.

            1. they are lying, they have understated statistics, but they have joined together in national unity on one simple prophylactic:

              EVERYONE WEARS A MASK

this is a simple and doable thing which has got to come from private people.

Americans will either do it or the cases will continue to rise.

This is pure stupidity happening here folks, dont blame China or Trump for every single person’s selfish, undisciplined, lazy failure to wear a mask or scarf if they are going out.

              1. dont blame China or Trump for every single person’s selfish, undisciplined, lazy failure to wear a mask or scarf if they are going out.
                _______________________________________________________
                Yup
Not wearing masks is very likely contributing greatly to the spread of the virus. People cannot grasp the concept that masks do only a little to protect the person wearing the mask but do a lot to protect everybody else.

              2. “they are lying, they have understated statistics”

The statistics coming out of New York are far more understated than those from China. Thousands have died with no accounting in NY and they have no good idea on how many are infected that haven’t been tested. It is completely out of hand in terms of tracking down the people who had contact with known infections. Wearing masks is certainly a part of the success in China but rigorous testing and finding the infected and checking everyone who came near the infected was also part of it.

            2. “The question is did Chinese response work.”

Most Americans would write, ‘did the Chinese response work.’ You’ve omitted a word and it’s something that’s sometimes done by Asians. Are you Asian? Chinese? Or perhaps it was an inadvertent omission.

              1. wu mao dang checking in here every day now lol

a good day and “grass mud horse,” to you, comrades!

                草泥马

            3. “The evidence is overwhelming that it did work.”

              Let’s hear the evidence.

We already have proof that the CCP was not providing the information that they were supposed to have provided.

              1. “Let’s hear the evidence.”

You can find tons of evidence from people who are in communication with people in China if you bother to look.
Here is an article from someone who invests in Chinese companies.
                https://www.barrons.com/articles/chinas-small-companies-are-beating-almost-every-market-here-are-the-best-sectors-51587036600

” so they are confident they have the medical supplies and people working together. And because of how swift and effective the [containment] was, people are not worried about job security. We can’t say that about the U.S. or Europe. Everyone at the companies we own is back at work.”

                1. “The evidence is overwhelming that it did work.”

Though I believe you are very wrong there is evidence on both sides with potential lying on both sides.

What is really wrong with your statement is the word “overwhelming”. You don’t have it and your evidence is actually underwhelming. The article you wrote doesn’t tell us whether or not the Chinese are lying. It tells us of her viewpoint of the Chinese economy but that doesn’t answer the underlying questions.

If I missed the point of overwhelming proof quote them.

Also explain why China has thrown journalists out, refused to permit our epidemiolgists to have a look, has destroyed records, etc.

Also understand that you refuse to use a name that can differentiate yourself from other people so with more than one anonymous writing you have to make sure that what you say is not confused with anyone else. That is not anyone else’s job to do. It is yours because you chose to remain hidden among many anonymouses.

                  1. What is really wrong with your statement is the word “overwhelming”.
                    _________________________________________
One article is not overwhelming evidence but if you care to look you will find an overwhelming number of such testimonials

                    1. That is your problem. You rely on MSM that has been wrong on almost everything from the Russia hoax to insulting Trump for the Chinese Traveller Ban Jan 31 and later making 180 degree reversal. You point to things the media said without even knowing what effect those things had, positive or negative and not even recognizing whether what the media said or not was true 6 months later. Yet you state overwhelming evidence and all that proves is that what you believe is no more than the fad of the day.

You used your article to back up your statements so quote from it and prove your case. That one article doesn’t have to be overwhelming but there should be evidence that the Chinese haven’t been lying. Let’s hear it.

          1. Well it is easter, and Walter Duranty has come back to life, so there is that to consider

        2. The sick and dead count from China is massively understated. i have heard experts stating the obvious about that. There are a lot of reasons for this, not worth rehashing….. Nevertheless they have turned the corner on spread it seems, and the reason is probably very simple

          EVERYONE WEARS MASKS OUTSIDE

before the US gets too angry at China for all its naughty this and that, and I am plenty mad at them myself, but let’s pour some effort into simple mask wearing by EVERYONE OUT AND ABOUT.

like 1/4 or 1/3 or even half the people in public wearing masks is still NOT OK. its got to be like 95, 99, 100% and then spread in urban areas can slow and things start to reopen

            1. That is excellent work for the good of the household and society. She is thanked for her industry. Would that other people would simply wear scarves, at a minimum

    1. “China followed a strategy that worked.”

Sounds like Anonymous the Stupid. They seemed to have sealed off their provinces from Wuhan while spreading the disease to the rest of the world. However, very credible evidence shows that they didn’t contain the virus like they said they did. But Anonymous the Stupid will believe them even though they lied to the world about the virus when it first appeared.

      1. It’s a reasonable inference that the reported death tolls in Hubei province are fabrications, and perhaps those from other provinces as well. They claim to have suppressed the epidemic in Hubei with a loss of life of 2,500 person, or about 43 persons per million. They had no advance warning and the epidemic ran through a city with poor air quality, and, yet, the epidemic in Hubei was less lethal than it has been in Austria, the west European country which has been most successful at controlling the epidemic.

        1. “They had no advance warning and the epidemic ran through a city with poor air quality, and, yet, the epidemic in Hubei was less lethal than it has been in Austria….”

The death toll in Wuhan is a lot more than in Hong Kong (4 deaths) or Taiwan (6 deaths) . These places were all severely affected by SARS-1 and MERS and they were prepared to deal with another outbreak.

The fact remains there is no way they could be hiding large death toll that the critics are claiming. For one thing effective eradication and response requires good communication and reporting. If local authorities in Wuhan had been more open in reporting the rise in pneumonia cases its likely the Wuhan death toll would have been much smaller.

    2. I read somewhere that China was cremating some people before they were dead. That may be disinformation, so I am taking it with a grain of salt. But it isn’t like China has been real big on the whole Human Rights thing in the past, so I can not totally dismiss it.

      Plus, China is raacissst!

      1. Squeaky, I read the same thing. The writers provided the number of crematoria how many bodies could be cremated in a day and noted that the crematoria were working 24/7. People like Anonymous the Stupid probably think they were roasting marshmellows.

It was also reported that 21 million phone numbers became inactivated. The question was why? The CCP keeps tabs of all its citizens and they use phones to help them.

There are also videos coming from China showing and destruction, beatings, shootings and sealing people into their homes. Perhaps Paint Chips thinks they are trying to compete with Hollywood.

        1. I don’t think the shills here think much at all. They just pass on the latest DNC talking points. That is why I usually ignore them. I have an old 16 pound bowling ball, and if I want to talk to something with a thick head, I can talk to it.

    3. It is interesting that people blame China for not properly warning the rest of the world (as if anybody would listen to China) but who was there to warn China?

First of all, you admit no rational person would believe anything being reported by the Chinese authorities. And then what do you do? You defend China based on what their government is reporting. That alone should inform everyone that nothing you have to say has roots in logic or reason.

      Damn!

      1. “First of all, you admit no rational person would believe anything being reported by the Chinese authorities.”

I stated that irrational people (like yourself) would not have believed China even if they had given earlier warnings and yet these same irrational people complain that China should have given earlier warning.

The people who refuse to believe facts simply because the are stated by somebody they don’t like are not rational people.

I believe what is going on in China based on what millions of people living inside China say is going on. I cannot believe there are massive amounts of sickness death that are ongoing and they are unaware of it.

        1. I stated that irrational people (like yourself) would not have believed China even if they had given earlier warnings and yet these same irrational people complain that China should have given earlier warning.

I posted exactly what you wrote you dolt and the keyword is anybody. That would include yourself. Given what we now know about the warnings issued to our own state dept. regarding the Wuhan testing facility, would rational people have ignored any warning coming from the Chinese government that they lost containment of this virus and have shut down travel out of Wuhan? Hell no. No warning and then on top of that the Chinese government shut down domestic travel out of Wuhan but did not shut down international travel. Lastly, they wouldn’t permit anyone from the CDC onsite, whistleblowers have gone missing, reporters have been kicked out and they have an oppressive system for controlling the behavior of their people…Social Credit Score.

Hoffman explained factors other than the drop in cell phone subscriptions point to her conclusion, the most obvious one being China’s “long history of lying about death tolls.”

Another reason she believed the numbers were falsified goes back to the failures of China’s social credit system, a ranking system based on the reputation of each citizen and business. “It’s a system that uses technology to augment existing forms of social and political control,” Hoffman said.

Similar to how each person has a credit score in the United States, a Chinese citizen’s social credit score can move up and down depending on their positive or negative behavior, like failing to pay debts, being convicted of crimes or even smoking in non-smoking areas. Someone with a poor social credit score could be restricted from flights or trains, barred from receiving high-speed internet or be rejected from entrance to the most elite schools, according to Business Insider.

In the wake of the coronavirus, citizens were required to report their travel and medical history, and their answer would factor into their social credit score. “In Beijing for instance, anybody returning from overseas failing to report or misreport their health condition would be included,” Hoffman explained.

However, people are also penalized in the social credit system for spreading fake news or rumors, which could be problematic in China, where there the line between the distinction of spreading rumors and alerting the public to a potential pandemic such as the coronavirus is blurred.

“Spreading rumors is such a politicized charge in the [People’s Republic of China]. Are there people spreading false rumors? Yeah, probably there are in every country … but the problem is how do you define that? And for the [Chinese Communist] Party that could just be whistle-blowing,” Hoffman said. “I think that’s actually more concerning because we already know that there were people who were trying to get the word out about the crisis back when it seemed the party was concealing the severity of the outbreak.”

  8. In a news conference on March 10 New York’s Mayor Di Blasio stated if you’re not sick you should be going about your life pitbull should still be going out to eat and drink as the buyers does not transmit through food and drink.
40% of all deaths due to COVID-19 are in New York. Eliminate New York and we would not be shut down.

  9. Actually, we don’t know what they believe. Only what they SAY they believe. There is circumstantial evidence that the U.S. military introduced it in Wuhan during an international military athletics event – at which the U.S. won exactly ZERO events.

  10. Sen. Murphy is wrong, it isn’t what the orange fascist did, it is what he didn’t do. It does not matter in the short term how the virus came to be it is the crisis that the un United States of Amerika is in that matters. Sen. The orange fascist was warned and warned yet he did nothing. His campaign commercial at the press conference, if you could call it that was full of cherry picking, lies and a big gap in February. When he did speak up he still did nothing and left it to the governors to bear the burden while stealing supplies headed for them. – Dr. Anthony Fauci, February 29, 2020

  11. “The reason that we’re in the crisis that we are today is not because of anything that China did, is not because of anything the WHO did. It’s because of what this president did. It’s because he didn’t take this virus seriously. We weren’t going to be able to keep every case out of the United States, but we didn’t have to have tens of thousands of people dying.”

  12. Ah there you go … Backup Goat’s mainstream defender Turley at work.

The goat has blood on hands. Sure the virus came from China and sure they tried to hide it, but fact is the goat sat on all the information for a month doing nothing. Nothing. Instead he lied more than usual and once Congress got into action, the goat is trying to rob money for himself and cronies.

    1. Hutom:

Just more prevarications and outright falsehoods but we’ve come to expect no less from you. Love the new bells on the fools cap!

    2. “Sure the virus came from China and sure they tried to hide it”

No they did not try to hide the virus. They tried to hide some mysterious pneumonia cases that were of unknown cause. Why is that important? Because after SARS! and MERS the central health authorities of China put in place measures to require local authorities to report all unusual pneumonia cases. The Wuhan local authorities did not want to do that because they understood that the Central govt would step in and curtail economic activity as part of the planned response to such events. The local authorities gambled that it would all blow over and they lost that gamble.

The main point is that the Central health authorities were eventually notified of the pneumonia cases and the virus was then discovered and the world was notified long before any cases had reached the USA. The assertion that China hid the virus and that is why the USA was unprepared is a lame argument. It is a grasping at straws for an an excuse for why the USA did not respond well.

      1. “No they did not try to hide the virus.”

This anonymous voice sounds like a CCP propaganda spreader. The idea of the CCP is to shift blame from the CCP to Wuhan and other nations. The CCP has been advocating this type of garbage so this could arise from someone that for one reason or another is following the CCP script.

It could also be someone like Anonymous the Stupid who has read such propaganda and is Stupid enough to believe them. He then puts the words together or copies the words and placed them here. Those words could have come by emails that have gone viral among the Stupid Community so they aren’t traced to the net and the source. This could be an exact copy of such an email.

We cannot know the source for sure but this is most definitely originating from the propaganda arm of the CCP.

        1. “This anonymous voice sounds like a CCP propaganda spreader”

          Facts are facts.

There is no evidence that at the time the Wuhan authorities were trying to suppress information about the outbreak of fatal pneumonia cases they knew it was caused by a virus. It wasn’t until after the WHO was notified and experts were brought in that the virus was discovered and identified.

          1. Facts are facts, Mao…or is your name Willful Ignorance?

Americans who reliably defend totalitarian governments (Mao, Stalin, Castro to mention a few) will have a special place in Hell or a Wuhan open seafood market in case Hell wont take them, and we will deny they ever went there

Horror of a Hidden Chinese Famine
            By Richard Bernstein
            New York Times
            Feb. 5, 1997

Near the end of his account, Mr. Becker tries to estimate the number of people who died unnatural deaths as a result of the policies imposed during the Great Leap, citing one scholar’s figure of 30 million to be the most believable. But Mr. Becker says that ”from a moral perspective” the debate over numbers is ”meaningless.” China managed to hide the very fact of the famine for 20 years, and even now, its extent and real causes are glossed over in official accounts as part of the effort to protect Mao’s already tarnished reputation.

Mr. Becker’s remarkable book, which firmly establishes the Great Leap and the resulting famine as one of the worst atrocities of all time, strikes a heavy blow against willed ignorance of what took place.

          2. Anonymous the Stupid, dead people say very little. You either are one of the fools the CCP aims at or part of the propaganda team.

  13. Well it is really the fault if both. Of course China is initially to blame but Trump is to blame along with some in FOX who downplayed the danger and prevented an aggressive preemptive stand to keep the disease from having such a damaging effect here. Our defense comes from the President and not Xi

    1. Martha:

“Well it is really the fault if both.”
      ******************
When the murderer fires the bullet, we don’t blame the victim for not getting out of the way fast enough. Unless, of course, you hate the victim.

      1. Mespo, I like that. It probably works well with juries but the question is whether it can work that well with ideologues.

        1. Allen:

“It probably works well with juries but the question is whether it can work that well with ideologues.”
          **************************

Well, juries are smart. Ideologues not so much.

      2. Lame analogy in this case. A better one would be Trump watching an avalanche come down a mountain and instead of getting his butt in gear, he just hopes it will stop before it reaches him.

If you want to stick to violent crime- You wouldn’t blame the police because a psycho murdered your family, but would you be happy if the cops stopped off for a donut break before showing up to do a sloppy investigation, all the while assuring you that you’ll get over it very quickly?

Or maybe this one- Trump is like a liberal judge who let the virus off with time served even though he knew there was a high chance of recidivism.

        1. Better analogy would be decapitating a new born baby because she decided to deliver at a point and time when the mother felt it was inconvenient

Or perhaps a timely example would be Pelosi holding up Congressional action on COVID stimulus after the Senate agreed on their terms, because Pelosi wanted to send millions of dollars to her favored agencies that hate Americans and undermine the US Republic

the list is endless but you probably went screaming and jumped out the window at the mention of infanticide.

Liberals are like that: botched abortions sans hanger

          1. Setting aside your misrepresentation of the tragic circumstances that lead to partial birth abortions, I’m not still following your analogy. Who do the baby, mother and infanticide doctor represent?

Perhaps the economy and freedom are the baby, the mother and doctor are freedom-hating liberals and Trump is the apathetic hospital administrator upon whose watch it’s all happening.

            1. Hospital admins take note: Brad does not need, believe or support your hospitals, medical staff, medical life support devices and the cute nurses working 12-24 hour shifts. He can take his enema at the reputable Wuhan health center that stopped the Wuhan virus….kinda like Superman stopping a speeding bullet…and how Obama allowed Americans to keep the doctors they wanted..and Obama’s DOJ stamped out all evil…

              Yeah, that Brad

              1. LOL Are we still talking analogies here or do you just enjoy fantasizing about enemas?

        2. Brad:

“A better one would be Trump watching an avalanche come down a mountain and instead of getting his butt in gear, he just hopes it will stop before it reaches him.”
          *****************
Yeah that’s a great one to prove exactly my point. Ever try to stop an avalanche? For you, I’d recommend the attempt.

          1. Fortunately, it’s not really an avalanche. I’ve been convinced the virus is just the flu except less dangerous.

    2. Martha, who was the first politician to react in a way protecting America from a potential virus? President Trump. You can try and provide us the names of the Democratic politicians that early on tried to stop the virus. If you can’t then you should really correct your comment.

Who inhibited policies that would slow down the virus? Virtually all Democrats in Congress.

DSS already provided the site below:

This is the essence of the article that even names names and Chris Murphy is one of them. “Dems to pass bill to keep Trump from ordering travel bans during virus crisis”

    3. +1 Martha and it continues with Trump who has still not used the Defensive Product Act or led in anything but excuses and lies. As a self proclaimed wartime president, he’s AWOL. If FDR acted like this we’d be speaking German.

    4. I don’t suppose you noticed that you are engaging in 20/20 hindsight? What was your call in real time? Fauci told America not to worry or change anything on February 29, 2020 and the eminently ineligible Obama was funding corona virus “research” in Wuhan (it all comes together in Wuhan: Obama, Xi Jinping, communism, COVID-19, “research,” “accidental” release, “collusion,” etc.). You don’t sound as if you believe in objective adjudication, in contrast to communist dictatorship from those “intellectuals” who “know better.”

  14. Sen Murphy is a Trump hating fooool. Wonder how much China has donated to his campaign. The DEM’s don’t get it, they are focused on blame Trump for everything or oppose whatever Trump is for. They fail to see we see right thru their lies and fake news. I sense the DEM’s are going to pay a very heavy price come NOV. They know it too that is why they are trying to get mail inballots to stuff the ballot box.

Sen. Murphy should be investigated to see what his financial interest are in protecting China

    1. The Dems will do anything to win including cheat. Just listen to Peter Paint Chips who is brimming with joy that the Covid virus has brought the US economy to a stop. He says that will finally bring in socialism but he doesn’t seem to have a care in the world about the deaths or the destroyed families.

  15. I’d love to be present at the autopsy of Sen. Murphy’s brain just to see precisely how TDS manifests itself on gray matter.

  16. People of Connecticut.

Replace this clown at your earliest chance. What a disgusting, camera chasing POS.

  17. It’s another indication, in case you needed one, that the Democratic Party is chock-a-block with malicious frauds. The other Senator from Connecticut is Stolen Valor Blumenthal.

It was Judy Chu of California who introduced legislation to overturn the Administration’s ban on travel from China. Murphy’s a co-sponsor of another such piece of legislation from her office.

      1. TIA’s post is false. He should go to original sources instead of his usual crackpot links. Like this:

        https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/2214

The bill was reported out of committee on March 5 – Trump’s China travel ban was in late January. The text does not stop the president from banning travel for legitimate reasons dealing with public safety, etc, but for discriminatory reasons like his advocacy of banning Muslims. Like it or not, the bill is not what TIA’s handlers claim.

“……The President may temporarily restrict the entry of any aliens or class of aliens after the Department of State determines that the restriction would address specific and credible facts that threaten U.S. interests such as security or public safety.

The bill also imposes limitations on such restrictions, such as requiring the President, State Department, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to (1) only issue a restriction when required to address a compelling government interest, and (2) narrowly tailor the suspension to use the least restrictive means to achieve such an interest….”

        1. Thanks for the chaff, but there was no point to her activity other than to inhibit the freedom to restrict travel.

          1. I accept your surrender. We agree then that you were wrong when you posted “…Judy Chu of California who introduced legislation to overturn the Administration’s ban on travel from China.”

              1. Funny Mespo, except you probably should have noticed by now that TIA has abandoned his post – literally.

  18. In a way it’s both. China is fully responsible for the coverup of what happened in Wuhan. For locking up scientists. For trying to quiet all information on it in 2019. For reopening the same market and lab in question now. For using the WHO to shame all who would ask legitimate questions about the lab as they tried to peddle the market story and now the “it came from the US” nonsense.

Trump is responsible for the inept response in the US. For disbanding the Global Health Security and Biodefense unit Obama has established. For the CDC preventing hospitals from fixing their botched test kits and causing delays in testing. For conning his base into thinking this was a hoax that would go away. For the US doing less tests per capita than almost any other first world nation. And now for the US leading the world in cases by far and in deaths.

If it was just the fault of China that the US is in this predicament the US would not be in the worst state of every nation on earth as a result of this (all 197, 185 of which have covid cases according the JHU). China is definitely deserving of blame but Trump shouldn’t get off Scott free either. Even the travel ban he implemented was symbolic but did nothing. 430k traveled from China to the US between January and March and 40,000 when he added restrictions. People could have every symptom in the book and have doctors crying bloody murder and still not get tested. Now the focus has to be on fixing this mess, but if we’re talking about blame to ensure it doesn’t happen again, China needs to be taken to task with international sanctions etc and Trump needs to be voted out. He won’t take responsibility for anything bad

    1. “US would not be in the worst state of every nation on earth as a result of this”

How exactly are we the worst?

      1. The liberal mentality is such that that’s an axiom. It’s perfectly malignant. For the record, deaths per resident have been as follows:

        Belgium: 417 per million residents
        Spain: 409
        Italy: 358
        France: 263
        Netherlands: 193
        UK: 190
        Switzerland: 147
        Sweden: 132
        Luxembourg: 110
        Ireland: 90
        USA: 86
        Portugal: 62
        Denmark: 55
        Germany: 45
        Austria: 44
        Norway: 28
        Canada: 27
        Iceland: 23
        Australia: 2
        New Zealand: 2

        1. @ This is absurd x XXii That’s like saying China, 2.3 deaths per million. Besides their stats being inaccurate their population like ours is larger and more spread out.

If you’re going to focus on deaths per million why not focus on where it’s concentrated in the US and keep out the rural areas or areas where testing is virtually non existent:

New York has over 500 deaths per million. I earlier mistyped 2000. New Jersey has over 300 deaths per million. Massachusetts has nearly 300 deaths per million. Louisiana has over 250 death per million. Michigan has over 200 deaths per million.

If you want to focus on the population as a whole again, we’ve tested less than 1% of the population.
We fall behind Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Australia, Canada, Beligium and South Korea. And the CDC which previously banned tests not approved by them has conducted less than a 10th or all tests in the US (since they allowed physicians more say).

    2. “And now for the US leading the world in cases by far and in deaths.”

The US reports all deaths and potentially is reporting more deaths than occurred which is a matter of reporting. Too many people don’t realize the difference in reporting so they make many mistakes.

      As far deaths:

      US: 86/ million
      Spain: 409/million
      Italy: 358/million
      France 263/million

Of course there are additional factors that would create higher or lower numbers. The number of tourists carrying the disease counts and I think in the monthly periods we had 3 million tourists in the country every month.

Other things factor in as well so when conclusions are drawn like the ones above one has to wonder about the knowledge base of the one drawing such conclusions. Then one has to recognize that the conclusions whether right or wrong have no substance behind them.

In any event Chris Murphy among almost every Democrat is one of those that tried to stop Trump from slowing the spread of the disease down. If one wants to blame anyone they should blame the Democrats.

      1. @Allan New York State has 11,000 deaths and rising and a population of under 20,000,000. That’s over 2,000 deaths/ million in the US epicenter.

Is every state in the US doing an accurate job of reporting? We have little reason to believe Florida (let’s open WWE where we already have an infected case because McMahon is lining the governors pockets for business) when it comes to stats.

Furthermore the populations of France, Spain and Italy are close to 50 million over a concentrated area and their curves have already peaked. Things are getting worse in the US and we’re typically more spread out.

This is no time to applaud the job Trumps doing. If you really want to compare cases/million look no further than the number tested per day/million, which is actually going down in the US. You claim the US is reporting data more accurately yet we’re testing less people. How does that work? Look at CDC.gov’s chart on test per day and explain how we’re reporting more accurately when we’re testing a smaller percentage of the population than most every first world nation and our rate of testing is going down, not up?
        https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/testing-in-us.html

          1. If we’re assessing subnational units, why not compare the New York commuter belt to Lombardy or greater Madrid?

Either you’re innumerate or you fancy we are. Not a good look.

            1. This is absurd x XXii You mean to tell me it makes more sense to compare 330 million spread across 4 million square miles on the same per million basis as a population of 60 million over less than 200,000 square miles? New York State is a quarter the size of Spain. Spain isn’t even 1/20th the size of the US. Your selective outrage is maddening. You demand we look at deaths on a per million basis but ignore the fact that we test far less per million. Spain has tested more people (359,000) than the US has as of today (316,000) and they have less than a 5th of our population and you still pretend our stats are more accurate or chump is to be praised?
              https://www.statista.com/statistics/1109066/coronavirus-testing-in-europe-by-country/

              1. Take out a map and look at where the disease spread. Take a look at how tiny Manhattan is. I’ve walked its length and width in a single day while walking other places as well. Somewhere between 1.5 and 2 million people enter that Island ever day and concentrate mostly in the lower part. Most use public transportation.

You are trying to make statistics conform to your way of thinking. That is the opposite way people are supposed to manage the numbers.

        1. “@Allan New York State has 11,000 deaths and rising and a population of under 20,000,000. That’s over 2,000 deaths/ million in the US epicenter.”

CK07, It is hard to answer inaccurate and incomplete information so I will just deal with one perspective NY.

NYC is the financial center of the United States and if it isn’t one with the most tourists it is very high on the list. The transferring back and forth between Chinese nationals and American nationals is extemely high so NYC is one of the cities that would be expected to have the greatest number of deaths. Manahttan, where most of that traffic occurs has a very small area and is a petri dish for new infections.

Add to that the population density of NYC and its mass transportation system one sees an immediate health risk for any NEW disease that arises since in one day that disease from one person can spread to hundreds and then thousands. Add to that the total disregard of the warnings of some type of social distancing by those leaders in NYC. Not only did they attack Trump for trying to stop Chinese Travelers but they encouraged them and rather than social distancing. Even the head of the NYC health dept encouraged people to gather in huge groups during the Chinese New Year and at other events.

The disease and deaths that are occurring in the NY metropolitan area shows the intense traffic that occurs between these areas on a daily basis and also shows a spread to the locations where wealthier New Yorkers decided to hunker down.

If you are serious about what you say start dealing with the NY situation and point by point we can deal with all the other points you made. We can have a respectful discussion of these issues if you wish based on facts leaving politics out of the discussion.

          1. @Allan “ Even the head of the NYC health dept encouraged people to gather in huge groups during the Chinese New Year and at other events.”
Chinese New Year was January 25th. Trump didn’t ban travel from China until January 31st (and it wasn’t effective until February 2nd if you want to call a ban that still allows half a million to enter the country effective). That’s over a month before president shall not be blamed let out this doozy “So we’re at the low level. As they get better, we take them off the list, so that we’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck”.

If NYC wasn’t encouraging social distancing it doesn’t seem they were alone in that in January. Even today Florida is barely doing so. Besides inviting spread at spring break, McMahon’s money is buying the WWE’s spot on the essential workers list. The same McMahon who Trump just appointed to the economic task force that will decide when it’s safe to open for business. China deserves all the blame they get for this but so does Trump

            1. Almost half the deaths in NY come from the concentrated area surrounding NYC and perhaps half the deaths of the country come from metropolitan NY. There are epidemiological reasons for that. Those in power in NYC were encouriaging the gatherings to make Trump look like a fool and killed a lot of people by doing so. There is no way at that date one should have been encouraging such gatherings and such encouragement continued long after the Chinese New Year.

Your knowledge of Florida seems to be as faulty as your knowledge of NYC. Spring recess covered Florida’s beaches which in a short amount of time were closed to all. Parks were closed all over though since Florida a multiplicity of different areas the rules might vary somewhat. Their governor acted quite fast and wisely. He even started testing those coming in from hot spots. The death rate is relatively low and about 40% of the deaths occur in Miami-Dade and Broward. The governor is trying not to destroy the state and all his actions were taken to protect the people of Florida rather than to make political points against the President.

  19. I would like to know how early on he was going on media raising the red flag that would tell how serious to take anything he says
