We have previously discussed schools such as Harvard, Yale, and even courts removing portraits of white people in the name of inclusivity despite complaints that the left is engaging in its own form of racism. The media as praised these efforts and, in one case, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow spurred Rockefeller University to change what she derided as the “Dude Wall.” Now Canada’s Dalhousie University Medical School has joined these ranks in ordering the removal of former “old” and “white” deans in a campaign to “put people first” … with some obvious exceptions.
Dean of Medicine David Anderson announced the portrait cleansing in a message as part of the school’s “Valuing People” initiative. He declared that showing former white deans was inimical to “creating positive, safe, and inclusive environments for people to thrive.”
He claimed that the appearance of white people in the portraits make students feel unwelcomed and “dominated by senior male white leaders.” In other words, their race was viewed as interfering with maintaining a healthy and friendly environment.
This exclusion was all done in the name of inclusion, part of the Orwellian logic of today’s culture in higher education.
What is lost is the history of the institution and the recognition of those who built the medical school regardless of their race. Whatever they may have done for the school has been now superseded by their race and gender. As greater gender and racial diversity is achieved, those portraits show an institutional progression that is reflective of a changing society and profession.
In his statement David Anderson wrote: “We have heard from students, faculty, and staff that they do not always feel welcome in our Tupper Building foyer, which is a key space for our campus. While the portraits of previous deans and other historic figures found there represented our history, they also represent that, like many other institutions of our region, our faculty has been dominated by senior male white leaders. This group does not represent our current student body and the diversity of communities our faculty has a responsibility to serve.”
Absent in it are any justifiable reasons why any students, faculty, and staff should feel unwelcome in an institution of higher learning to which they have been invited to remain for as long as they wish and equally welcome to leave whenever they wish. Why do any students, faculty, and staff seeking to impart and gain medical knowledge want to remove from their environs images of those who once involved themselves and labored the same?
If, as it plainly appears, it is but a matter of white men who were once educators at the medical school then it is also a matter of white men who currently are educators at the medical school. Dean Anderson, you might wish to avoid being in or near the Tupper Building foyer whenever the “diversity of communities” is present. You certainly would not want to unnerve anyone.
Here is a link that provides the full text of Anderson’s announcement.

my thought was that he should resign today
Agree, George. Moreover, as a role model for the students, he should pledge in his statement of resignation that under no circumstances will he consent to be treated medically, should a future need arise, by any physician or specialist who is white.
Anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable in the real world doesn’t belong in a school of medicine! The world is what it is, so deal with it while doing one’s best to achieve one’s dreams. – from a woman who earned a law degree in 1969 (1 of 3 women in a 1st year class of 100), the only staff member of the law school who was a woman was the librarian, when 5 or 6 or 7 of the 150 +/- new lawyers admitted to the bar in Allegheny County PA were women, etc. etc.

Narcissus is here and wants to install mirrors, pictures of himself and history of himself of course and claim it as his and always was his.
The pagan land
It goes to honor your mother and father—->tradition, history.
All you had to say was, ‘Canada’. That country is a dumpster fire. May it never happen here to that extent.
The doctrine of Diversity (i.e. color judgment, class bigotry) is founded under the Pro-Choice ethical religion in progressive sects exercised with liberal license. That said, diversity of individuals, minority of one. #HateLovesAbortion
In the past, hiding behind the “Pro Choice’ label were folks who were PRO ABORTION. Today “reproductive rights” do not accurately represent those who favor “NO rights for the unborn.” Same people, different inaccurate labels.
I highly recommend owning multiple calibers. Taking your enemy’s ammunition is the only assurance of an ongoing supply.
I generally ignore and just scroll past any and all anony comments, the word “ammunition” stood out, so I read the comment.
Are you going to be carrying three pistols in three different caliber? Are you going to be carrying three different rifles in three different calibers? And all the different ammunition to go with those different firearms?
IF what you are implying were to come to pass, you will have to carry all that crap, on foot.
More than 3 calibers, dum dum. Also handy for different purposes.
Why would I need to go anywhere on foot? I have both all terrian vehicles and horses.
What am I doing in your fantasy, just trolling about the countryside, looking for libtards to shoot?
I also have a large family.
One advantage of the AR platform is the potential for on lower and multiple uppers, if so inclined.
You kind of miss the point. YOU will be carrying my supply of ammo. LOL
Next ignorant statement?
Also night vision scopes. Very handy.
Have firearms in common calibers, widely available, and that the military stocks. A .300BLK does me no good if I run out of ammunition, and my enemy carries something else.
At some point, you are going to run out of fuel.
People on horse back make for easy targets.
I am a better shot than you.
You’re spitballing anon
Well dum dum, you’ll be without fuel and electricity of course. It’s back to nature. Get a hot rod donkey.
These people who promote “inclusivity” on the left hate white people, especially white men, ergo they are racist.
Let me guess, Tupper was male and white.
White males built the world we live in, ansd it’s awful—Inbread ingrates

It seems to me the people requesting the removal of these portraits are the racists.
Dear Mr. Turley, Kudos again to GEB for both of his posts. It is good to remember the folks who have gone on before us. When my children were small, I would tell them about deceased relations who had accomplished great things. One great uncle helped to develop the hydraulic brake. Others were boss of their particular division in industry. Great-grandma went to nursing school and the list goes on. It helped to give them a sense of history, courage and purpose. So, two children are in the medical field and the other is a defense contractor. This would have the same effect on incoming students who could see the struggles that came with poverty, but with a willingness they too, could achieve great things.

3. To own a hotel or 7-11, ya gotta have an Indian accent

5. Latino’s resist vaccinations because they’re afraid they will be deported
6. Black’s resist the vaccine because of the “Tuskeegee Airmen” (this is one of my favorites)

“It was students who said they felt unwelcome.”
Because they were “triggered” by the race of those in the portraits.
Which makes those students racists. And the dean an appeaser of racism.
No, they were not triggered. They wanted the foyer to reflect on the current demographic reality. It is about an outdated expression of the school’s pedigree.
“He claimed that the appearance of white people in the portraits make students feel unwelcomed and “dominated by senior male white leaders.”
No, Turley is not being honest about what the letter actually said. It was students who said they felt unwelcome. The only reason. The portraits were removed was because the students asked for it. Attitudes change, cultural norms change. It’s not racism against white people either. It’s an acknowledgement that the demographics of the population are no longer strictly white. It hasn’t been for a long time. The former deans are not being discarded or forgotten. Their contributions to the school are still recognized, only this is now on a webpage. If the students and the school agree to the changes why is it an issue for Turley? This is just another column meant to stoke the ire and rage of his MAGA readers, you know…keeping the age of rage alive.
Semantics. It’s putting gender & race over accomplishment/contribution. Are they taking all portraits down? Asian or Hispanic students might feel excluded by, say, portraits of Black faculty/administration. Ever wonder how many of these softballs would have survived the real prejudice their ancestors faced?
It has nothing to do with race. Students asked for change and the administration obliged. If that is what they all agreed on why is it a problem. All they did was change the look of the foyer by taking down portraits. The contributions of former deans is not being discarded or forgotten. They are just being moved to a different medium. It’s a consequence of a changing culture and demographics. It happens all the time. Professor Turley is taking advantage of this isolated instance to make it a bigger deal than it is so his readers can rage and whine about it.
There it is.
Svelaz can voice his asinine opinions all he wants. But if anyone else does, they are just whining. If Turley voices his, he is just stoking rage.
This, despite Svelaz-George coming in here to whine every day about what Turley says.
When are you going to admit you are Svelaz, chicken shit?
“It has nothing to do with race.” The dean SAID it was based on race.
John Say,
Thank you for bringing the “facts” to the table.
No, the dean said nothing of the sort. It was the students and faculty. The dean just relayed and approved of the change they wanted.
*SENATOR KEELEY
What it says is the students hate white men and can’t tolerate their Visage. Beware.
While your logic is no better than normal – I do not share this fixation on long halls with the portraits of long past administrators.
There are people who should be remembered by history – but not every dean of every medical school.
I can understand an image of the current dean of a medical school. Or the CEO of a company.
But not everyone who has ever held the position.
If we MUST continue to keep up pictures of past deans – why not just the past 5 or 10, or the very few who have made real history.
History is very important – that would be SIGNIFICANT history.
So you basically agree with the students and faculty of the school. The reorientation of the school’s past distinguished leaders should reflect the current demographics and cultural changes.
That’s what they did, but Turley implied it had to do with only with race.
*SENATOR KEELEY
It’s a display of a long history. It didn’t begin yesterday. Duration is the meaning among other virtues and ideals.
While I really do not see the need for dozens of pictures of past administrators,
the fact that “students” were triggered is just a reason NOT to do as they ask.
Any medical student that has any response beyond boredom to a wall of past administrators needs to find another profession.
If the number of old white guys on a wall “triggers you” – you do not have the emotional stabiliuty to be a doctor.
They weren’t triggered. The students and faculty observed the fact that the portraits no longer reflect the reality of today’s cultural and demographic changes. The can be seen as being uncomfortable having an outdated and unaligned representation of the school’s broader demographics. Not because they were upset that only white men were on display.
Turley mischaracterized the situation for the benefit of his more gullible readers.
“The [sic] can be seen as being *uncomfortable having an outdated and unaligned representation of the school’s broader demographics*.” (Emphasis added)
You used 12 words (which amount to gibberish) to obfuscate 1 word: racists.
That makes you, per usual, pathologically deceptive — a sophist.
What puts the lie to your comment is to ask, “What if the pictures of old, dead White guys were instead old Black guys?”
* SENATOR KEELEY
Would a white student feel ill at a long display of black deans? Is that the implication of your question?
Depends upon the white students interest in becoming a physician. The objection to the white deans betrays the students.
I’d run like hell was after me fearing I’d be supper of course.
George – once again you can not get your facts straight.
What letter ? I have re-read Turley’s post multiple times and there is no letter. There is a statement by the dean. We do not know if it was a written statement or a press interview or something else.
There is no reference to any student involvement – Turley’s article implies this was initiated by the dean.
And the Dean specifically culled the portrats based on race – that is racism.
Changes in attitudes and cultural norms that treat races differently are racism.
There is no difference between purging the pictures of white former deans today than barring admission to blacks a century ago.
Decisions based on race are racism. Attributing that to changes in attitudes and culture is admitting to racist attitudes and culture.
The way to stop discriminating on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.
Nor does your idiotic demography claim fly. Canada is 70% white – its demographics have changed very little.
I do not give a crap if former deans are being discarded – there is no right to be remembered or to have your picture on a wall forever.
There is no web page of former deans in Turley’s article either.
Maybe you have a source other than Turley’s article for your claims – if so – you should cite it -0 otherwise it just looks like you are making up claims to suit your preferred narrative.
“The way to stop discriminating on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.”
Morgan Freeman has the answer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpnpIhqSLto
John, the hyperlink highlighted “messege” at the beginning of the column links to the letter.

“There is no reference to any student involvement – Turley’s article implies this was initiated by the dean.”
How did you miss that?
Turley falsely implies it was the dean. The letter/memo/statement, whatever you wish to call it explicitly points to the idea being the students and faculty.
This is what he said,
“We have heard from students, faculty, and staff that they do not always feel welcome in our
Tupper Building foyer, which is a key space for our campus. While the portraits
of previous deans and other historic figures found there represented our history, they
also represent that, like many other institutions of our region, our Faculty has been
dominated by senior male white leaders. This group does not represent our current student
body and the diversity of communities our Faculty has a responsibility to serve.”
George it is extremely off putting and damaging to your own credibility that in post after post you create additional facts out of thin air to support your arguments.
Please stick to the facts within Turley’s articles OR additional facts from sources that you cite.
Otherwise you just look like you are making things up as you go.
John, see the post above. Perhaps you should look at Turley’s hyperlinks more closely. Sometimes he does not link to the sources of his information when it’s obvious he’s not telling the whole story. In this instance he does link to the Dean’s statement/letter/memo that talks about what Turley is criticizing.
Svelaz George just makes shit up out of thin air again.
Where is your evidence that teenagers had anything to do with this decision??
Pathetic
@George: What an idiot. These names and portraits are of those that helped disperse medical knowledge. I don’t look for pictures hung all over the place, rather I am responding to George’s reaction to anything white I hope George’s physician chooses not to use any treatments discovered by white dudes. If students feel unwelcome, they should immediately leave and find another type of field as they are not good enough to be doctors. George is a race hustler. That is all he knows. Without the knowledge of the white dudes, most Western medical science would not exist.
S. Meyer, WTF are you talking about? You have absolutely no idea what is going on. Zero.
You can’t read. Sleep off the drunk and then write back.
If students such as these need to be coddled by removing photos of white people and/or men, they don’t belong in schools of medicine because they will fail in the “real” world – of medicine or any other field of work. Better to deal with history (long ago and more recent), to not succumb to victimhood (based on race, “color” or sec) and whining, to do one’s best in school and thereafter, etc. etc.

Gaslighting
One is given to believe that addition rather than subtraction would be inclusive. Mr. Spock would have the devil of a time with the logic of that move.
Is Maddow the problem or are those who follow her?
Margot,
Yes.
I wonder what significant accomplishments Dean Anderson has accumulated. I would suspect a short list. It seems to me that people who have accomplished little of note are relatively quick to disparage those that have accomplished greater things and remove the recognition of those accomplishments. There are always little people of small minds who are usually telling you how wrong you are and quick to destroy what you build because they cannot bear to see someone else achieve and realize what they have not done. Easier to drag the greats down than achieve greatness yourself.
Every time I achieved something noteworthy, i was thrilled to have the accomplishment but awed and humbled by those who had achieved even more and before me. I realized how much I had put into what I achieved but saw that others had done even more, worked harder and fought against larger opposition and still achieved. I always wanted to emulate them, not disparage them. You have to have your heroes to emulate otherwise we just sit in a sea of mediocrity.
Canada has its own problems and used to have a very clear sense of itself. But that has seemed to become lost and it does not escape me that this has appeared to accelerate under the recent iteration of the Trudeau cult of personality. Forgetting your heritage is the sure way to destruction by the rot from within.
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine took a different path.
Alfred Blalock and Helen Taussig developed the Blalock Taussig Shunt which helped prolong the life of infants with Tetrology of Fallot until they could get a more definitive surgery later. When it became know that Vivian Thomas was an essential contributor to the development of the shunt he was added to Portraits of the Johns Hopkins greats. No one else was taken down and the history and heritage of Johns Hopkins was preserved and enhanced. The shunt is now known as the Blalock-Thomas-Taussig shunt. Seems to me that is always the greater lesson. Rarely, if ever, do you add by subtracting. Something is always lost. I am not an alumni of Johns Hopkins.
A medical school is developed and enhanced by the people who built it and then added to it. There were sacrifices made and people lost.
The founder of my medical school had no degree but only apprentices work before becoming a practicing physican. He pushed through the state legislature to found a medical school and a board of medical standards and licensure to set standards for physicians and improve care for all citizens and was one of the 3 founding faculty members of the Medical Academy of Georgia in 1828. Performed the world’s first successful thoracotomy. And started a medical journal in order to keep all physicians in the south up to date. And yet when a yellow fever epidemic hit the community, he was there to treat and help, caught the disease and died at the age of 50. Doing his job.
Empires are weakened and corrupted from within long before they fall to an external enemy. If western students “feel unwelcomed and dominated by senior male white leaders” just because they view a picture hanging on a wall, the fix is already in. Quick flash to parts of the world where real tragedy exist: Imagine being a child in Gaza starving, dehydrated, terrified of daily bombs, surrounded by death. There’s not a western brat alive who could withstand real oppression, so they make it up to give themselves the illusion of being relevant.
As for the poor Gazan children their suffering is due to their parents support of Hamas and the years and years of spending billions on tunnels and weapons in order to kill Jews.
Gio, did you lament for the poor Afghanis killed as we hunted for Bin Laden early on? Did you ever discuss the plight of the poor German children in Dresden or Berlin as we tried to take Hitler down? Have you ever mentioned the children of Syria as about 500,000 people have been killed? And have you ever written about the Jewish children killed on 10/7 or over the years as their enemies attack them going on 80 years now?
I have no problems feeling sorry for the children in Germany or Japan in 1944 who were starving,. dehydrated, and terrified of daily bombs and surrounded by death.
At the same time I am not claiming that is genocide or that the allies should have stopped their efforts to defeat Germany in order to protect those children.
When you start a war – your children will suffer, and that is YOUR fault.
@John: Who on earth is stupid enough to believe that one group of people can attack another, killing and raping, and when they find they are losing can ask for peace? GioCon.
Gazans can end the bombing, and the risk and occasional death of themselves and their children anytime they want.
They can as was required of the Japanese and Germans surrender unconditionally.
They can release the hostages they hold and turn over Hamas members to Israel for the administration of justice.
“Gazans can end the bombing, and the risk and occasional death of themselves and their children anytime they want.”
No they can’t. Defending themselves against Israeli aggression is their right. When Israel controls everything they are not free. Israel will never let Palestinians achieve freedom and liberty. Israel treats Gaza like one massive prison. They are just as guilty about the situation.
END Federal AID to colleges, cities, states, non-profits.
Democrats HATE America…and need to be DEFUNDED!
It’s a Canadian school.
White dude wannabe Rachel Maddow’s statement is puzzling.
Whites like Maddow, Biden et al never take themselves out of their position in order to allow a minority person to take over. Ahem, well Biden did it after he beat Harris (and other women and minorities) in 2020, stayed in office for 3 years, became even more demented and then was blackmailed out of his position.
Dean Anderson looks like a white dude to me. Perhaps he should start by canceling himself.
They NEVER remove themselves.
Their virtue allows them to exclude themselves from the purge
Sadly, the ‘woke virus’ has swept Canada. If Trudeau could, he would hunt ‘dissidents’ with dogs.
In other news, Iran is about to attack Israel using weapons bought with money that Biden allowed them to reap over the last 4 years. Ukraine is losing it’s battle with Russia, the stock market is crashing, unemployment is going up as a recession hits, 9/11 defendants were given a sweetheart deal and then had it inexplicably pulled and 12 million illegals are now here forever.
With all listed above we have not had one press conference from Joe Biden or Kamala Harris???? Think about all the issues pointed out above and imagine not having one press conference to discuss all, or even any, of these potentially devastating events.
First, it isn’t 12 million illegals here forever, it’s 12 million more during the Biden administration added to the estimated 12-15 million already here. Approximately 8-10% of the total population of the U.S. are now illegals without any commitment to the constitutional principles that have governed up for so long. One of the U.S. long held beliefs about the Soviet Union was that its diverse population and people groups, approximately 130 different groups, would be a significant weakness should war occur. Through military psychological operations that could be exploited and cause disunity and eventually a split in a united Russia. That has now been reversed and applies exclusively to the U.S. Russia is obviously taking advantage and exploiting it on a daily basis along with China, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela and other countries devoted to the destruction of the U.S. and western democracy. We are experiencing a slow motion cleansing of the white race from history. Meritocracy has been deemed racist, evil or obscene and the cleansing will continue until the white race has been completely erased and replaced.
Hullbobby, better start piling up sandbags and stocking up on dry goods. Oh, and don’t forget more ammo. It’s all coming to an end.
And we wonder why Putin endorsed Biden. It benefits him the most.
Now, with Harris as the Democrat candidate, I am sure Putin is beside himself watching America make yet another huge mistake.
What could be better than Biden in terms of weakness and incompetence?
Harris.
Bidenomics. Bidenflation. Bidenrecession. As I have stated many a time here on the good professor’s blog, the damage Biden has done my be so severe, no one can undo in the short term. It may take years if not a decade. And we are going to see more pain in the near term before it gets better.
It’s Comrades Biden and Harris. They’re just doing their jobs.
Very sophisticated
