“I Will Follow the Law”: Harris Adopts a Purely Pedestrian View of the Presidency in Fox Interview

Bret Baier/X

Last night, millions tuned in to watch Fox’s Bret Baier interview Vice President Kamala Harris in a brief but substantive exchange. One of the most interesting aspects of the interview was the purely pedestrian view of the presidency that Harris presented in the interview. Harris repeatedly responded with “I will follow the law” while refusing to say where she personally stands on immigration, transgender athletes, and other issues.

After confining interviews to largely softball forums like The View, Harris faced a serious journalist who pushed for actual answers on policies. While confined to a short time by the Harris campaign, Baier kept pulling Harris back to these questions to cut off the evasions that have characterized past interviews.

Baier noted that she has previously campaigned on some of these issues and publicly declared that she worked for such things as gender transitioning operations for undocumented persons. Harris now refuses to state her position on such issues and says “I will follow the law.”

Yet, Harris is not adopting that pedestrian model in other areas like abortion rights where she is pledging to use executive powers to resist pro-life laws. The Biden-Harris Administration has used such orders to negate both constitutional and statutory authority. That includes orders that were declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court on issues like the national eviction moratorium.

Notably, Harris did flip her position on decriminalizing unlawful entries. Despite running on that pledge in her earlier unsuccessful run for the White House, Harris now says that she is against such decriminalization. As with her past opposition to fracking and gun rights, the change is likely to draw criticism that Harris is adopting a new persona for a close race.

The refusal to give her position on these issues is reminiscent of Joe Biden’s last campaign where he simply refused to say if he opposed packing the Supreme Court with an instant liberal majority. What is different is that Harris previously stated strong and public positions on these questions but is now refusing to confirm that she continues to support those policies, including some that rank near the top of issues for voters.

Baier did a heroic job in trying to prevent the filibustering of the interview and push for answers on these questions. It was the first such interview where Harris faced a dogged interviewer. Given the frantic effort of the staff to end the interview (after showing up late), it is likely to be the last.

The mantra of “I will follow the law” ignores that a president plays a major role in the legislative process and has considerable executive powers in determining how such laws are enforced. The presidency is more than a promise of “joy” and compliance. It is about leadership on issues that matter to voters.

The interview had a seasonal feel with Halloween approaching like a political reading of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven where every question is answered by “Nevermore.”

That could well be the theme of the Harris campaign. When pressed on contradictions or controversies, Harris seemed to declare “Nevermore Trump” over and over again. We will see if that is enough in a matter of a few weeks.

In the meantime, real journalists will be left seeking answers that never come, exclaiming like Poe’s protagonist “tell me—tell me, I implore!” However, “Quoth the [Harris] ‘Nevermore.’”

  1. Kamala Harris is the EV equivalent of political candidates. She has no range, she’s expensive, in a crisis, she’s absolutely unreliable and she is the “mandated” Democratic candidate.

  2. The ultimate question still remains: Who is Kamala Harris? The only worthwhile revelation gained from the interview is her having said in effect that a president and their vice-president are wholly responsible for the blunders and consequences of their administrations. Exactly that, Kamala. It is why you are not yet nearly far enough behind in the polls.

The interview was clearly the best to date but surely not long enough. A cool, calm, respectable, and authentic journalist was unintentionally making headway revealing for the public the querulous temperament and empty rhetoric that epitomizes Kamala Harris. Just a little more time would have sealed it.

    1. Ron, I mean no disrespect, but your “who is Kamala Harris?” question was answered a long time ago, and it’s a really simple answer: A prostitute puppet, and an abject liar who will do exactly as she is told to do.

    2. @Ron

It really doesn’t. Forgive me for presuming, but you speak as though she were a legitimate candidate, and she isn’t. What she is, is a figurehead for the party. You and we aren’t getting more than that, and people will be told to vote for her ‘just because we said so.’. And they are. In no uncertain terms. This is undeniable at this point.

Modern liberals need to get their heads out of the sand, and right quick. You give her and her party far too much credit, and that is precisely what led to virtual collapse of free society globally 60 years ago. Very respectfully, wake up.

    3. Same game as 2008, who the fuk is Barrack Obama? Same thing a manufactured persona, we still don’t know who he really is but look at America after his rein of terror. She is a fabricated bunch of bullchit to sell to the serfs for an election to continue their destruction of our nation.
      Not this time Commie Marxists!

      1. But it is not 2008,

We will not be fooled again.

Further Obama was running with a term limited republican incumbent and the country terrified that a depression was looming.
Harris is running with a democrat incumbent and a disasterous term.
She can not own her tenure as VP and win, and she can not run from it and win.
She has flown into a box canyon with no way out.

    4. If Harris says she will follow the law then why isnt she and Joe obeying the SCOTUS ruling about paying off student loans.

The immigration law that mattered was arbitrarily ignored, nullified, and violated on January 1, 1863, when the Naturalization Act of 1802 was in full force and effect.

It is self-evident that “Asylum” is an inherently illegal and massive fraud perpetrated against America—100 or 1,000 people may need some degree of protection, not 20 or 80 million.

“Asylum” is a dog whistle and racist code word for American “population replacement.”

President Dwight Eisenhower conducted mass deportation appropriately and legally.

President Donald J. Trump did and will conduct mass deportation appropriately and legally.

In Dobbs, Roe v. Wade was legally “decided” retroactively by 50 years.

Contemporary immigration law in 1863 must finally be legally “decided” retroactively by 150 years and enforced.

Will the communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats, RINOs, AINOs) prevent the law from being adhered to and enforced?

    You betcha!

  4. This reprehensible, cotton candy filled sack of foul air should have thought twice about confronting a seasoned journalist who, by dint of the fact that her prior interrogators had been accused of being disingenuous and he was not bound to blemish his career on that account. She brought to the table her soft bigotry of low expectation for her adversaries and that of the low information voters in the audience. She leveled the nonsensical tripe swallowed by the useless tools of her following, attempting to use as ammunition against a target she grossly underestimated, assuming she would get the same pass the others gave her. She was wrong. She was given the hard facts she knew she could not affirm and she was not allowed to slide. She would not endeavor to defend her record because, she could not and risk buying the farm. She does not have ‘the right stuff’ to tell a Russian leader to tear down a wall or stick that agreement where the sun don’t shine.

    1. * She isn’t expected to do or know anything you’ve listed. She’s expected to grease the rails as the locomotive heads for the cliff. That’s all. Just clear the rails … everyone knows that? Yes?

  5. Turley: are you on medication that blunts your perception of reality, or have you just chucked all decency to get that Murdoch paycheck? You deign to call Baier “a serious journalist” and accuse other REAL journalists who interviewed VP Harris and/or moderated the debate, of being part of “softball forums”. Does that apply to ABC and CBS–ABC did the debate in which Harris mopped the floor with Trump and CBS did an interview. In 2020, Baier is the one at Fox who tried to get the decision desk to reverse the call of Arizona for Biden because that’s what Trump demanded. A REAL journalist would not do that. As Laurence O’Donnell pointed out last night, everyone at Faux who was involved in calling Arizona for Biden has been fired–but not Baier–the reason is obvious–the rest of them are intellectually honest- Baier is not.

Turley has the gall to claim: “Baier did a heroic job in trying to prevent the filibustering of the interview and push for answers on these questions. It was the first such interview where Harris faced a dogged interviewer. Given the frantic effort of the staff to end the interview (after showing up late), it is likely to be the last.” Baier is not a “dogged interviewer”–he is a rude ignoramus who, just like you, Turley, is on the Fox payroll and a nothing but a flunky who does what he is told, which is to push the Trump and MAGA agenda. Baier tried to prevent her from answering questions by cutting her off and trying to prevent her from pointing out negative things about Trump. Has anyone at Faux News ever done that with Trump? No–for the fake “town hall” with their fake “black” host, they put together an audience of female supporters who clapped at his insanity–because he is nothing but a narcissistic actor who needs affirmation. VP Harris also handed Baier his axx when he tried to misrepresent Trump’s dangerous “enemy from within” rhetoric by a selectively-edited clip.

    1. Baier is not gods gift to journalism. The journalist that interviewed Harris for 60 Minutes did a good job of asking Tough questions – Harris was expecting softballs and muffed the interview and CBS tried to fix it in “post production”.

I will cede that Harris is getting better at interviews. that is NOT the same as she has gotten good.

It is also not the same as she won hereself some new votes in her Baier interview.

Often Republican and Democrat politicians are very agile at avoiding answers to tough questions.
We expect that – Trump is good at it when he wants to be, as is Vance, and when his brain cells all fire so is Biden.

When a politician’s goal is to avoid a “gotcha” – that is all perfectly fine.

But it is a highly ineffective way to persaude people.

Harris went on Fox because that is where the votes she needs that she has not got are.
She did not need to win every fox voter, or even many – just a few percent.

It is highly unlikely she is going to win fox voters by not falling flat on her face, not decaying into meaningless dribble, or even skillfully not answering difficult questions.

Persuading people requires getting their trust and treating them with respect. I can vote for people I disagree with on some issues.
I can not vote for someone if I have no idea what their position on issues is, or who has changed but refuses to explain.

The “Correct” answer when Harris said “I will follow the law” Was

I will follow the law until I can get it changed and this is what I will try to change it to.

The reason that Harris will not answer questions like that is that for every undecided that she gains, she will lose two far left wing nuts for taking a rational position. OR if she answers to placate left wing nuts – she will not gain any undecideds.

She has a further problem that voters are deeply suspicious after 2020.

Biden ran as a good old boy moderate democrat – “trust me”
But the far left was also told – let biden say what he needs to win the election, he will do what we when AFTER he wins.

The problem is that strategy worked – Left wing nuts got the far left puppet president they wanted.
And moderates who voted for Biden got screwed royally.

And in 2024 as ‘the Who” sang – “We Wont get fooled again”

Harris is being evasive – and she i getting better at it, because she can not tell the truth – no matter what that Truth is without losing more votes than she gains.

I am honestly surprised that the left wing media is preassuring her to make more appearances.

The more she does the lower her odds of winning.

Even if she does not F#$K up which she has done repeatedly – she needs to do more than take tough interviews.
She has to win over voters. That requires answering questions – and there is no answer that does not do more harm than good.

      1. * Oh for goodness sake, you mean the part about the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Then what? May my guru help me ?

    2. Turley: are you on medication that blunts your perception of reality, or have you just chucked all decency to get that Murdoch paycheck?

Gigi arrives from a CNN basement broom closet on her broom to make the Troika Of Democrat Fire Hose Of Lies complete! Dennis, George, and Gigi, the Democrat self licking ice cream cone threesome is now complete.

Gigi, are you sharing Hunter Biden’s crackpipe to have the gall to believe you have any credibility here?

      1. * Uh hem—> the spewing fire plug.

The rules of this blog are to NOT respond to trolls. Gigeeeeek is a troll.

    3. Gigi, you seem to think that Fox Baier was there to give Harris 20 minutes to defame Trump.

She can do that anyday she wants at any of her events.

BTW Baier did let Harris get away with too much with the “enemy within” quote.

But it does not matter – everyone watching Fox KNOWS who Trump thinks the enemy within are.
it is NOT half the american people.
It is democratic politicians and even more importantly those in the “deep state” who use whatever government power they have to advance personal political goals without any respect for the choices of the electorate.

Those people ARE “the enemy within” – they are not all democrats, but they all need to be gone.
Some of them need to be prosecuted for actual crimes.

The FBI telling social Media in Fall 2020 that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian Disinformation when they had the laptop for almost a year and had verified it was authentic after a few weeks,.

That is not just unconstitutional governement censorship – that is election fraud.

Regardless, Harris was on Fox to try to win a few votes.
Frankly I think that is an impossible task.
20 minutes of defaming Trump on Fox is not going to win her any votes.
20 minutes of evasive answers is not going to get her any votes.

Undecided voters want TWO things from Harris – they want to know what her policies are. And they want to know why they should beleive Harris when she says that is what her policies are.

When Harris actually speaks about policies – she speaks like a left wing nut and that will not buy her any new votes.
But her campaign has been trying to leak “new policies” that make her more acceptable to undecideds.
That is fine – that is what she needs to do to win.
But it is not enough to leak appealing policies.
Harris herself needs to publicly own them.
And she needs to do so suck that voters beleive her.

      That is incredibly hard.

The election is trending away from Harris. That is NOT because her voters are abandoning her.
very few are. It is because slowly the undecideds are deciding, and by about 2:1 they are grudgingly picking Trump.

The left wing nut rant that Trump is too dangerous is just not flying.
Trump did not tank the economy
Trump did not trigger wars that have sucked us in all over the world and are costing us hundreds of billions.
Trump did not spike inflation to 9% and only manage to get it down to 3.4%
Trump did not allow somewhere between 10 and 21M illegal aliens into the country.
Trump did not use government to censor political enemies.
Trump did not use Government to investigate and prosecute political enemies.
Trump did not use government to go after parents of raped HS students
Trump did not use government to go after pro-life protestors
Trump did not use government to go after catholics.

If Trump is lying and he is going after Hillary, and Joe and Kamala and the deep state – criminally without compelling evidence the actually committed crimes – that would be bad, but it would not be a hill of beans compared to Biden/Harris. ‘

If Trump fires 2/3 of the federal government – more than half the country will cheer.

When you/Harris say Trump is dangerous, that he is a threat

      To WHO ?
      And Why ?

It was democrats that opened the damn on the filibuster. McConnell took advantage and no one cared.
It was Democrats who weaponized govenrment against political enemies.
If Trump actually uses DOJ to go after democrat politicians – especially those that went after him.
      Almost no one will care.

I do not personally expect that.
Trump will have 4 years to build a legacy.
He wants to be remembered as a great president.
He Wants to be the 21st century Reagan – or greater.

To be clear I am no saying that is who he is.
I am saying that is what he wants.

That is not accomplished by extracting political revenge.

Trump did an incredible job for 4 years against impossible odds.
But doing that over again is NOT enough to get him on Mount Rushmore
which atleast figuratively is what he wants.

You idiots on the left keep this Trump is a Nazi/Hitler nonsense up.
Why would Trump want to be Hitler ?

Use the brain god gave you – Trump WANTS to be GREAT.

There are TWO choices – either Trump will NOT do the things you claim he will do,
because the majority of people actually think those things are wrong and they will vilify Trump forever,
OR The majority of people think the things you claim Trump will do are quite reasonable, and you will not succeed in scaring them.

      1. John Say,
        Great comment.
As of late, the wild and crazy rhetoric coming out of the leftist MSM has turned to the fear factor. It is all they have left to run on. They will not talk about what Harris policies are, or why she flipped on so many of them. They cannot let her do any more real interviews, they have to resort to friendly, softball ones where they know all the questions in advance, or certainly there will be no pressing her or challenging her to explain herself. So crank up the fear factor to twelve.

        1. As I noted in another post – the odds of ANY democrat winning this year are near nil.

The Biden/Harris admin has been a disaster.

Trump is the republican candidate and that makes this a highly unusual election.
An incumbent with a record running against an incumbent with a record.

Biden’s dimensia made things worse – but he was not going to win even if competent.
Though he does have more appeal to critical voting blocks than Harris.

The Biden/Harris administration has been a disaster.
I do not think there is a time in US history where any president has taken office with so much of a tailwind and destroyed everything they touched. I beleive Biden will ultimately be rated as worse than Buchannon.

Conversely even Trump’s worst negative – Covid, is both in the past and people see that Biden did no better.
Most everything else policywise about the Trump administration was better.

          There is no overcoming that.
Replacing Biden might generate a balloon of enthusiasm,
but the fundimentals did not change.

Frankly given another couple of months to campaign – Harris would do WORSE than Biden.
While Harris has some unique problems, even a different Democrat was not going to win.

This election is only close because it is not just democrats running against Republicans,
it is democrats, the media, the deep state, …..

Otherwise Trump would be up by 15pts.

    4. Gigi,
it is pretty clear that you grasp that Harris is losing and nothing is likely to change that.

The interview with Baier was an effort to start the process of reversing Trump’s momentum.

Baier did what any decent interviewer does.
Harris failed to accomplish her goal.
She did not fail because of Baier – she failed because what she seeks to do is impossible – certainly with the time left.

She needs to appeal to undecided moderates while not losing her base.

I know this is hard for you – but Trump can do that. Why ?

      Because people actually trust him.
They may not like him, but they KNOW what he will do as president.
The may not agree with what he will do, but they still KNOW.
And the WORST that is likely with Trump is less scary than the best that is likely with Harris.

The scare tactics that you and Harris rant about – work with Harris’s far left base.
But they are NOT working elsewhere.
People simply do not beleive you.

I said people trust Trump. Why ?
Because in his first term despite opposiiton from democrats, the press and even his own party,
he did most of what he promised, andtried very hard to do the rest.

You can go read Trump’s platform. You can rant and rave about it, but like it or not,
That is what he is going to do. There are no shell games. no hidden agenda’s
      No wink wink nod, nod.

Even the things you hate the most – putting conservative justices on the court and overturning Roe.
You hate that. But Trump promised that, and he delivered.
As president he did NOT do things he did not promise.
      Again no secret agenda.
I would further note that with few changes – Trump has been saying the same things politicaly for 40 years.
I have attended a live Trump event ONCE in my life – Trump spoke at my brothers graduation from Lehigh University in 1984.
He was much younger, he was not running for office, he said much the same things then as he does today.

There is no way that Harris can secure the same degree of Trust.
If she returns to the polices that she ran on for DA, AG, Senate and her first presidential campaign – she will be defeated – people do not want that.
If she adopts the very similar Biden/Harris policies – she will be defeated – people do not want that.
If she tacks to the center and adopts moderate policies – she will be defeated – people will not trust that shift and her base will abandon her.

I have been here saying from the moment of the great switcheroo that Harris can not win.
Polling has changed since then, but it was goin to take a miracle for democrats to win in 2024.
Either everything in the world would have to go democrats way – Putin would have to be defeated, the Mideast would have to be at peace,
Real growth would have to hit 3% AFTER inflation.
Inflation would have to drop to about 1%
The border would have to be secured
      and on and on

All the mistakes of the biden administration would have to be fixed,
or magically Biden’s policies would have to work.

That was not going to happen.
      That did not happen.

Without that NO democrat was winning.

The election is over – it has been over for a long long time.

It was over when the Biden administration went to $hit.

  6. Jonathan: We apparently watched two different interviews of Kamala Harris last night on Fox. For months Fox hosts have been complaining that Harris was “afraid” to sit down to do tough interviews. Last night Harris put that claim to rest. She stepped into the lion’s den and took every tough adversarial Q from Bret Baier.

Judging from the Fox post-interview of Baier and other Fox hosts, Harris accomplished her mission. Baier had to admit Harris was on a “mission”, a “viral moment, to go after Trump…and she got that”. Even Bret Hume said “she was combative, energetic. She certainly landed some blows on Donald Trump”. Dana Perino, co-host of “The Five”, said “At times when she was going after Donald Trump she was fairly effective”. Seems even the Fox hosts think Harris demonstrated toughness and strength under fire–a willingness to appear anywhere and anytime to handle tough questions.

But you strangely think “Bair did a heroic job in trying to prevent the filibustering” by Harris. That’s not what happened. When Baier asked Harris about the issue of immigration she tried to discuss the bipartisan bill proposed by the Biden/ Harris administration to solve the border problem–a bill that Trump told his MAGA supporters in Congress to tank because he didn’t really want to solve the problem but to try to use “immigration” as a wedge issue during this year’s campaign–which is exactly what he has done. Baier kept trying to interrupt Harris. All Harris did was to ask Baier to allow her to complete her explanation of the bill. That’s pushback but not “filibustering”!

When it comes to “filibustering” DJT is the master. When he does agree to an interview he refuses to answer direct Qs. Instead he filibusters by going off on unrelated issues. If he doesn’t like a Q he calls the interviewer “nasty”. DJT’s refusal to a second debate with Harris and his refusal to do the CBS “60 minute” interview shows he is the real coward–he doesn’t want to answer the tough questions. You didn’t see any of that from Harris last night on Fox!

    1. Dennis McIntyre has arrived for work with the first installment of today’s My dear friend Jonathan, I beg you not to believe your lying eyes!”

Jonathan: We apparently watched two different interviews of Kamala Harris last night on Fox.

Yes, Dennis, Sammy, George, etc… they all watched a different interview than the remainder of the world.

Didn’t take long after that for Dennis to move to their old favorite they share with Bribery Biden and Border Czar Harris…. BBBUUUTTTT… MUH TRUMP!!!! BBBBUUUTTTT…. MUH FOX!!!

      1. OAD – Dennis is atleast partly right – a very rare experience.

Harris did not Flub the Baier interview – and Baier was Good, and he was tough.

It the standard is not diffing a deeper whole – Harris had a big win.
If the standard is reaching the skill level of an ordinary politician and being able to not answer a question that the candidate does not have a good answer for, Harris reached th level of ordinary politicians.

If the standard was win fox voters – that did not happen, and it was not going to happen.

        Harris is getting desparate.
But she IS also getting better – if we can judge by one challenging interview.
She certainly did better than 60 minutes or Oprah.

But she has a steep uphill climb and treading water is not going to get her there.

    2. When it comes to “filibustering” DJT is the master. When he does agree to an interview he refuses to answer direct Qs. Instead he filibusters by going off on unrelated issues… You didn’t see any of that from Harris last night on Fox!

Yep, Dennis McIntyre has convinced the rest of the world that we were wrong to think we watched Harris filibustering rather than giving direct answers to questions that concern the 75%+ of Americans who think Harris and Biden are taking America in the wrong direction.

Pity that Dennis always avoids sticking around to answer questions about his pronouncements after dropping them – even if to just filibuster when asked those questions.

It’s like what Dennis said about somebody he hates with the heat of a thousand burning sons: “he is the real coward–he doesn’t want to answer the tough questions”.

      1. Anonymous: you MAGAs do not represent “the rest of the world” or even the majority of Americans–because most of us voted against Trump twice, so you have no basis for claiming that “we” think anything.

        1. Anonymous: you MAGAs do not represent “the rest of the world”

Gigi, pathetic Bolshevik Fire Hose Of Democrat Lies… just over 24 hours ago, you proclaimed you DO represent the rest of the world. Doing so by proclaiming to everyone here that NOBODY cares about the Biden Bribery Laptop.

          Gigi says:
          October 15, 2024 at 5:34 PM

NOBODY cares about any laptop–Joe Biden isn’t running any more.

Gigi, you’re such a pathetic back alley tramp – exposing yourself to everybody, hoping at least one is willing to buy what they see you put on display.

Could you at least issue eye bleach to deal with the BS you attempt to peddle.

        2. Gigi happily harpoons herself with her favorite suicide/humiliation weapon: glaringly obvious hypocrisy…

Gigi at 1:53 PM Anonymous: you MAGAs do not represent “the rest of the world” or even the majority of Americans–because most of us voted against Trump twice, so you have no basis for claiming that “we” think anything.<

Gigi, a mere FIVE MINUTES LATER:

Gigi says: October 17, 2024 at 1:58 PM

TIT: answer me this: NO ONE cares about Hunter Biden or the laptop–Joe Biden isn’t running any more.

Yep, the only one who represents the rest of the world isn’t “the MAGAs”… only Gigi.

Gigi the Democrat apparatchik and pathological liar can make pronouncements to represent what the rest of the world wants to hear about or think.

So there you go again Gigi, your fetid, rotting on-line corpse hanging and twisting in gales of your psychotic serial lying and hypocrisy on display to the public.

        3. Correct, but the overwhelming majority of the country – in numbers never seen before think that Biden/Harris F#$Ked up.
And given the choices they have, they are picking Trump and MAGA over whatever you want to call the disaster that is Biden/Harris.

Further – YOU do not represent “the majority o americans”.
You do not respresent those who voted against Trump.

you represent voters who do not live in the real world.

          1. I try to put it in simple terms. You are voting for re-establishing our Constitutional Republic or you are voting for a Marxist driven authoritarian government, run by corrupt idiots. Simple as that, it is the choice of economic disparity, further loss of freedom and wars forever that will consume what is left of American wealth and cost people their lives, perhaps even the last war, a nuclear war. America has this moment to recreate herself and find our way back to peace and prosperity, quit meddling in other countries affairs, focus on American citizens. A opportunity to divert from the economy based on growth and development cycle of destruction and greed, to a more sustainable self sufficient economy for the benefit of everyone. Recapture our faith in individual freedom and liberty, a shift away from these globalist corporations that can never have enough and use the people as disposable pawns. A reinvention of national self, the America we want for our children and grandchildren.

    3. Baier was tough.
Harris did not buckle or flinch.

You are correct she demonstrated that she can “handle” tough questions – pretty much for the first time EVER.
But with one “success” under her belt – she will likely improve.

If her “mission” was to get some viral moment attacking Trump – she got that.
Though that is a weird mission as she can accomplish that any day in any campaign speech.

Baier did a reasonable job – not a perfect one, of thwarting Harris’s efforts to fillibuster.
Frankly that worked to Harris’s benefit, it is near certain that given enough time she would go off the rails.

As to the FACTS, policies, issues, ….

Harris accomplished the typical politicians goal of not answering any questions without sounding stupid.

That is NOT the same as “scoring points”.

Most voters – and certainly Fox viewers are Not buying the swill you are selling over the “bipartisan immigration bill”.
Baier actually did pretty well on that.

There was not a problem with Biden took office.
The Cause of the problem was the change in policies.

While the majority of americans likely want immigration reform – they KNOW that the border can be secured without ANY NEW LAW.
Harris’s entire argument about various legislation is a red herring and people know it.

Harris had no answer for why it was not possible for Biden/Harris to do what Trump had managed without legislation.

Democrats ALWAYS have this bizarre beleif that problems are solved by new legislation.

Frankly she was at odds with her own “I will follow the law” refrain – Trump followed imigration law, and secured the border.
That is all Biden/Harris needed to do.

You score that as a win for Harris – not with most of the country, and certainly not on Fox where viewers are smart enough to KNOW
that securing the border did not require legislation.

There is no need for Baier to have allowed Harris to explain anything regarding any legislation, when it is clear to anyone with a brain that the president already had the power to solve the problem by FOLLOWING THE LAW – which was Harris’s theme that for some reasons she did NOT repeat regarding the border.

“When it comes to “filibustering” DJT is the master. When he does agree to an interview he refuses to answer direct Qs. Instead he filibusters by going off on unrelated issues. If he doesn’t like a Q he calls the interviewer “nasty”.”

To a large extent that is true. But the reality is that while Trump does tough interviews all the time, honestly he does not need to.

Everyone KNOWS Trump. They KNOW or think they KNOW his policies.
His platform is clear, his presidency is there for people to see.

Trump is trustworthy – that does NOT mean he will do what you or I want.
It means he will do what he promises to do.

You can read his platform – it is NOT 80 pages long – it is one page.
And you KNOW come hell or high water he will move mountains to accomplish it.

Trump does “tough” interviews primarly to get infront of voters that are not going to listen to his rallies.
his interviews are NOT about answering questions, especially not what are mostly Gotcha questions.
Baiers questions were NOT gotcha’s – the were things undecided voters really want to know.

I am hard pressed to think of anything that an undecided voter would need to ask Trump.
Regaerdless it is NOT what the MSM asks.

Trump and Harris are NOT in the same position.

Harris can either own the Biden/Harris administration in its entirety – and defend it -which she does not do, because it is a losing strategy.
Or she is stuck running against Trump would would then be the incumbent from a far more successful presidency, and she is the untested challenger offering new and untested policies.

She is trying to get the best of both worlds. Voters are not that stupid.

Harris did not hurt herself in the Fox interview. She helped her self in that she dismissed the concerns that she could stand up to difficult questions.

But she did not help herself either – because she can’t.
She can not own Biden policies and win, and she can not separate herself from them and win.

She can not answer questions without losing more votes than she gains no matter what answer she gives.

“DJT’s refusal to a second debate with Harris and his refusal to do the CBS “60 minute” interview shows he is the real coward–he doesn’t want to answer the tough questions”

Trump does not need to do the interviews he is doing.
Though I would note he did very well at the Chicago Economic club with a hostile host.
Harris was invited and did not show.
Harris did not show at the Fox Town Hall.

Trump did very well at the Women’s town Hall in Georgia.

Trump handles interviews like Baiers everyday.
But he does not need to.

Regardless, Dennis, despite a performance that was not the disaster that most Harris interviews are – even softball ones,
The election is over – it has been for a long time.

The reality is the real situation has NOT changed in a very long time.
All we have been seeing since the switcheroo has been undecideds slowly accepting the inevitable – that there is not a better choice than Trump.

This election has ALWAYS been trivial.

The Biden/Harris presidency has been a complete disaster,
Nearly 80% of people think the country is headed in the wrong direction
      a number never seen before.

Conversely Trump is Running as a PRIOR incumbent.
He has a record. Voters know what they are getting.
Some love it, others hate it.
All that is needed for Trump to win is for 50.01% to hate it less than Biden/Harris,
      That has always been easy.

The attacks on Trump, the lawfare, Everything has all been just an effort to overcome the inevitable head to head comparison of the Trump administration and the Biden administration that leaves nearly everyone finding Biden lacking.

Harris can fix many of the problems she has as a candidate.

She did fix many of them in the Baier interview.
But not screwing up and hemoraging even more voters, is NOT a winning strategy.

There is not a strategy left that is going to defeat Trump,
Trying to send him to jail failed.

    4. Dennis – Trump does fillibuster sometimes. Though more often he skips the gotcha part of the question and answers the relevant question that voters want to hear about.

Regardless, you can fillibuster when you are ahead.
You can fillibuster when everyone knows where you stand.
You can fillibuster when everyone know what you will do.

That is where Trump is at.

Harris came to fox to try to peal off a few Trump voters.
That is a good strategy if she can pull it off.
While she did not fall on her face – she did not win any votes.
The interview was not a disaster, but it did not help at a time when she badly needs help.

Many democrats are advising that she NOT go on Joe Rogan.

If Democrats are prepared to cede defeat and are trying to preclude a wipeout in the senate and house – then they need to shut Harris/Walz down – they are hurting the entire party.

If Democrats beleive there is still a chance for Harris to win – then she needs to go on Joe Rogan and she needs to deliver an impossibly good performance.

I think that is highly unlikely.
But if I were Harris I would go on Rogan. I would fight to the bitter end. I would go out swinging.

I do not think there is a snowballs chance she can win. Bu she did improve in the Baier ointerview and she should try to improve more for Rogan. She can atleast dispell the view of her as an airhead.

  7. The Lady does protest too much! Her demeanor suggested she arrived with a Chip on her Shoulder, and during the interview (if you want to call it that) she became upset which then became anger which was obvious on her facial expressions. Anger is a dangerous position to be in; it reminds me of my lawyer in a deposition understanding that and using it to solicit damaging information on the matter at hand from an arrogant respondent. The anger short stopped any further depositions and led to a request for settlement as the respondent divulged damning information in their conceit of being right. The Misses was nothing but fatuous, her moronic non-answers demonstrated a vapid understanding of Government. Her continued use of I’ll follow the law is indicative of not being able to state her case. This woman is not qualified to be the President of the United States.

  8. In some Dennis McIntyre Breaking News! while awaiting his arrival at work today:

Democrat New Hitler Movement Mourns Death Of Their Spiritual Leader And Mastermind Of October 7th Genocide, Yahya Sinwar

American Christians and Jews mourning his slaughter of Americans as well as Israeli citizens might have this passage come to mind.

“You will pursue your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword.” – Leviticus 26

Will the mainstream media typify him as a “moderate” Hamas leader as they did his predecessor running the Hamas terrorists, Ismail Haniyeh, when he was hunted down and killed in Tehran a few months ago?

      1. Surely you jest, she still thinks a guy that cuts his wanger off and puts on a dress is a woman. She seriously thinks Kamala’s interview was a suckcess!

  9. Her persona is Kamala Hamasx. Like Biden, she’ll issue an executive order at 2 pm on January 20 to suspend all laws for her first 100 days.

  10. Really, Just like Better call Saul. An intelligent person who believed he’d never get caught. Slippin Jimmy and sliddin Kamala. They could have another hit series if they put the two of them together. It would be hilarious to watch the shenanigans they would go through to cover ip their dastardly deeds. I will demand a royalty for my suggestion. Just a warning to you Hollywood types who might try to steel my idea. Funny but sad.

  11. It was like watching an episode from better call Saul when Saul was finagling the law to his benefit. Sleazy lawyer stuff indeed. She may have prosecuted gang members but at the same time she pushed for harsher penalties for street drug users because it was an easy way to up her conviction numbers. What’s a few street users or young women brutally killed by gang members that she let into the country when you’re climbing your way to the top and the big old payday at the end of the rainbow. Bill Clinton must have whispered in her ear about the half a million he got for a speech he made in Russia. She rubbed her palms together and giggled me me me. As a reference please see Obama mansion.

  12. When Harris responded to questions with her standard “I will follow the law,” Brett Baier should have followed up each time with a standard follow up question: “Which law? The Constititution? Communist China law? Iranian law? Please clarify.”

  13. Her big talking point on immigration is that Trump scuttled the immigration bill proposed by the Biden Whitehouse. Baier pointed out that six prominent Democrats voted against the bill. These six Democrats voted against the bill so that they could say that it was Trumps fault. They think that we’re all so stupid that we wouldn’t find out that there are Democrats who voted against the bill. If you look at the Democrats that voted against the bill you will find that they all come from safe Democratic districts. They did it so that Kamala (at one time Joe) would have a bludgeon to hammer trump with. It’s just like the 51 members of the intelligence agency saying that the Hunter laptop was Russian disinformation so that Biden could use it in his debate with Trump. As soon as I heard the Trump killed the bill story I smelled a rat and I looked up who voted against the bill and lo and behold there were the six Democrats who helped to quash the bill. They really do think your to stupid to figure out what their doing. Every time that Harris was asked about immigration she tried to blame it on Trump and the Republicans. Nefarious doesn’t even begin to describe what they will stoop to when confronted with the truth.

    1. As soon as I heard the Trump killed the bill story I smelled a rat and I looked up who voted against the bill and lo and behold there were the six Democrats who helped to quash the bill.

And while looking at the timeline, you would have found those six Democrats declared that secret agreement dead on arrival within hours of reading the draft of the bill when it was brought out from behind closed doors.

LONG before Trump (or more likely his staff) got a chance to look at it and Trump jumped on the bandwagon to denounce the bill with those six Democrats (and the Republicans).

But the Democrat lie (advanced by Biden, Harris, and of course George) is that their fellow Democrats didn’t kill that bill – it’s all Trump’s fault.

It would have passed if not for Trump!

    2. TIT: answer me this: WHY did Trump tell Republicans to kill the bill, and WHY did they take their marching orders from him, instead of their constituents and the good of the American people? NO ONE cares about Hunter Biden or the laptop–Joe Biden isn’t running any more. The bipartisan border security bill was supported by border patrol agents, and would have gone a long way toward clearing up the backlog of asylum claims by hiring more judges, securing the border, providing more agents and stopping the flow of Fentanyl into this country. The only conclusion anyone could draw from Trump’s demanding that Republicans refuse to vote for it is: Trump would rather see Americans die of Fentanyl overdoses than lose the election, so he took away a BIPARTISAN tool that would help solve the problem. Just like Kamala Harris has said–it’s all about him–he doesn’t care about Americans or solving problems–just getting power so he can pardon himself for various federal crimes of which he stands accused.

      1. TIT: answer me this: WHY did Trump tell Republicans to kill the bill

Gigi, answer us this: why did SIX Democrats declare that secret deal they and the Republicans had no input into crafting was dead on arrival?

Rather than the Democrats with Border Czar Harris being the deciding vote push it through despite what Republicans (or Trump) said?

Gigi, answer us this: you believe Trump called those SIX Democrats and convinced them to announce the secret deal was dead on arrival immediately after they saw it?

Gigi, this is why you have earned your well deserved title:

Gigi, Womb Of Democrat Lies, Chief Harris Parrot

      2. Gigi:
        (1) Trump cannot -and was not in a position to– “demand” anything from Congress. That is mere “media/Dem” talk.
You do understand that, n’est ce pas?
-And that doesn’t even speak to the number of times that Republicans have NOT gone along with Trump, even during his tenure. (as I mentioned earlier to George).
        (2) Please read my response to your counterpart George. Citing the fact that the proposed border bill included some of Republicans’ demands has nothing to do with anything. Indeed, you and George amusingly left out the fact that any concessions by Democrats were not clear grants: Democrats demanded the inclusion of several changes that Republicans objected to. THAT is why it failed.
        (3) Republicans clearly outlined their objections. Many outlined right from the start/
        See https://www.majorityleader.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2033
        (4) I hope that after reading WHY Republicans rejected a sign-off (outside of the small body of negotiators), you will possess a little more knowledge and speak more carefully next time.
        54) Thanks in advance, yours truly, lin.

      3. Gigi – that is YOUR question.

Most voters are smart enough to have a radically different question.

Why didnt Biden/Harris do what Trump did and secure the border.

if you wish to debate that specific Bill – it was a lousy bill. For tiny improvements in the mess that Biden/Harris created it would have locked in the rest of that mess.

Why did Trump oppose the bill ?
Easy, because if it has passed and he had been elected, and he had followed the law, he would NOT have been able to secure the border.

Harris talks about “following the law” – Trump did.

  14. IMHO, she got what she wanted. Her idiot advisors were waving hysterically at her to stop the interview. This was planned political theater designed to make her look “courageous” for not stopping. Joy Reid will spew like a fireplug about how “brave” Kamala was, and that is the soundbite they wanted. That script has already been written.

But did Kamala change her momentum with swing voters? No, nor did she expect to. She knew it would be too tough an interview. She just wanted to get through it with her usual logorrhea.

Her strategy throughout has been to dodge specifics about her and Joe’s poor record and the dirty tricks they’ve played on Trump, so whenever anybody asks her about that, she goes straight back to attacking Trump. Allow me put the words in her mouth: “however disappointed you might be with us, Trump is far more dangerous.” That’s what she’s really saying without admitting it.

In fact, Trump is far LESS dangerous than her Democrat Deep State. They control most of corporate media, nearly all of academia, and the federal government, and they hijacked those institutions to destroy anyone who gets in their way, while shielding themselves from prosecution. The Deep State sees itself as a shogunate in which Presidents are disposable scapegoats (her boss is exhibit A). That dog won’t hunt anymore. Swing voters understand all this, which is one of the major reasons why Trump still has political life and she’s losing momentum.

She claimed only Trump engages in mean rhetoric, but boy, I still remember Darth Brandon’s speech back in 2022. He was talking about all of us, not just Trump. When she calls Trump a fascist, she ain’t callin’ him “cupcake.” She’s demonizing him to deflect attention from her own record.

And she does own Joe’s poor record. As VP, she cast more tie-breaking votes for legislation than any VP in history, beating John Calhoun’s 192-year-old record. She owns it all… and the border and the crummy economy.

So will Trump win? He has to get his ground game going or he might still lose. Polling and voting are not the same thing. And if it’s really close, yes, the Democrats will cheat and threaten people with prosecution for challenging them. They already have while claiming–with straight faces–Trump will sic the military on his critics. They don’t need to sic the military on us. They’re already using the DOJ’s corrupt leadership for that.

Vote Trump or die a slave. That’s the real choice she doesn’t want you to know about.

    1. Dear Diogenes: Your “Darth Brandon” sobriquet was funny. Enjoyable and informative read (I did not know Calahoun’s record). Thanks.

        1. The fact that you imparted that detail without solicitation adds to your value and credibility here.

  15. An unserious candidate for an unserious population. And, the only real journalists left are found on Substack.

  16. Two depressing things about Kamala Harris is that she is not very smart and she is not troubled by any actual beliefs in anything, including this country. But an even more depressing thing, if polls are to be believed, is that she is as likely to get elected as Donald Trump, a proven, known quantity. The propaganda has been so pervasive that at least half of this country has been convinced that having someone who supported open borders, gave weak support (at best) to Israel, wanted to pack the Supreme Court, practiced lax enforcement of criminal laws, is dispensing billions in taxpayer cash to get votes (student loan “forgiveness”, and now even willing to consider reparations), and a whole host of transgender privileges (including competing in female sports) should be elected President. If the polls are accurate, they remove any doubt that Americans are susceptible to propaganda– just as susceptible as Germans in the pre-War years when Goebbels was mastering his craft. My hope is that the polls are not accurate and that Americans learned to spot propaganda for what it is and ignore it. My hope is that unlike the media, Americans learned from the slaughter of six million Jews that those who use propaganda to target any group or person as the cause of all our miseries should be shunned.

    1. Honestlawyermostly,
I am looking at whom both candidates are surrounding themselves with. Musk, Gabbard, Kennedy. All highly capable, intelligent, people who can make real sound decisions and based off their track records, they can delegate to competent people they surround themselves with. Like the Biden admin who we are still trying to figure out who is running the country, the Harris campaign appears to pin balling aimlessly with their hair on fire. I would like to think there was someone truly competent running the show from behind the scenes but it looks more like being ran by a dysfunctional committee where no one is on the same page and there are a lot of egos in the mix.

  17. Re-watched it.
Can you imagine have her as the president on the world stage? Our adversaries would run circles around her, she would get flustered like she did when facing a real interview, not a softball one. What would she do? Blame Trump?

    1. Should Harris get elected, she’ll take her ques from Hillary. Hence: Blame Trump, Blame The Russians, Blame The World, for her problems.
It’s what she has always done by spinning it into enhancing her life.

    1. * I mean this in the nicest way—>

She’s a swindler, a robber of the poor and infirm, children and elderly, a thief and a liar and by shrapnel from her lie bombs a murderer and slaver buying and selling the souls of people and so much more.

  18. Harris succeeded in that she didn’t collapse into a series of inane cackles or meandering word salad. She remained composed instead. For her, pulling that off is a win.

At the same time, what the audience got wasn’t an interview. Instead, they got a version of Attorney General Merrick Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray or Deputy Border Czar Alejandro Mayorkas answering questions under oath in Congress. Get asked a question – do everything but answer the question while extolling what a great job you’re doing or everything is Trump’s fault.

She successfully avoided answering a single direct question by swiftly turning to make pronouncements, flat out lies, and statements that, if they were answers, were answers to questions she wasn’t asked.

And tried to cover up by claiming that she actually WAS answering the question – and was rudely being interrupted and cut off by the interviewer.

Her resident apparatchiks here will lap it all up, claiming she successfully answered every question put to her, despite the fact that she had to do so in the face of opposition from a rude interviewer who continually interrupted and cut her off while she was Speaking Her Truths.

Whether the undecided/independent voters up there will see it the same way, I have no idea.

    1. If there are any undecided voters left, they’re looking for substance. They want to know what they’ll get. With Trump they know: he worked for the company for four years and delivered solid results. He’s a “known quantity” as they say. For Kamala, nothing she said in the interview gave the undecided voters a handle on what they would get. She lied and dissembled, shifted blame to Trump, didn’t express any regret over her border policies, blew a lot of smoke with too many words, and got overly angry and screechy. It’s hard to believe she won any ground with undecided voters.

      1. Little Bachi Boy… is your bum buddy a Navy gun bunny who never set foot on a battle ground; one that shares pillow talk with you about military terms while having a smoke afterwards in bed?

Given your obsession with MOS… want to list yours? You DO have one, don’t you Bachi Boy?

  19. Harris was “interviewed” for the job in 2020 and she never got a callback, until the Biden handlers calculated he needed a DEI hire, but one that wouldn’t be a threat to him. After 3.5 years, and with access to the best and brightest minds on any subject, she seems even more unqualified today than she was 4 years ago. She’s not just ideologically unfit to be the President of this country. She is intellectually and morally unfit for any leadership position.
