As Democratic politicians and pundits rush to defend President Joe Biden’s unethical pardon of his son, Hunter, the public is expressing overwhelming opposition to his abuse of office. The latest poll, by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found that only two out of ten Americans support the pardon despite weeks of media spin.
The poll shows that Biden is no longer even garnering a majority among Democrats. Only 38 percent support the pardon.
As discussed in my New York Post column this week, there was an embarrassing moment recently at the White House when Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that a poll showed “64% of the American people agree with the pardon — 64% of the American people. So, we get a sense of where the American people are on this.”
That poll actually showed the majority of Americans opposed the pardon. Yet, it was 64 percent of Democrats who favored a president giving his own son a pardon.
It now turns out that that poll was likely wrong and that, even among Democrats, less than 40 percent support the pardon. Jean-Pierre is unlikely to use today’s press conference to highlight this poll, as she erroneously used the prior poll.
This has not stopped Democratic figures in Congress and the media fighting to excuse a grossly unethical and corrupt use of pardon authority.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D., Ill.), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate majority whip, even called it a “labor of love.”
Indeed, much of the corruption in Washington is a labor of love, from nepotism to influence peddling to corrupt pardons. Indeed, faced with overwhelming opposition from the public to the Biden pardon, Democratic members are now “Prisoners of Love” in fighting to rationalize a blatantly unethical act.

Remember, friends, Joe Biden is the investor of the boomerang-hand grenade. True to form, this pardon deal will backfire. Hunter now can be called before a grand jury by a special prosecutor – or any prosecutor – and be questioned without liability for federal crimes during the period in question and he cannot invoke his Fifth Amendment rights. Now, he may claim that his dad’s pardon donesn’t cover state crimes but m,any of those are beyond the statute of limitation. In sum, he will most likely be required to rat off his dada (when he was VP), and other family members. At this point the object is not “revenge” or a dersire to put Hunter in jail but, instead, to have the entire story known so that Congress can enact laws tro prevent this sort of thing from ever happening again. Our current laws, good as they are, did not do this. We have to stop saying Joe Biden was the most corrupt president in history unless we can prove it. Hunter represents that proof.

The 1977 Ford pardon of Nixon came before the government charged Nixon with any crimes. NO COURT ISSUED AN OPINION as to the pardon. Isn’t it about time tthat the court rules on a pardon that is before any criminal indictment. President Biden’s pardon of son Hunter Biden is setting a very dangerous precedent for these type of pardons.
Apparently the precedent goes back to a pardon of Confederate Civil War generals who were pardoned of crimes not charged, and that blanket pardon was upheld by SCOTUS. I’ll leave it to the lawyers here to identify the specific precedent. However, I certainly would welcome it if the current court decided to revisit that ruling. Unfortunately, cannot see John Roberts allowing that, he seems to value his standing with his elite DC friends more than he values defending the integrity of the Constitution and the Republic.
The sole qualifications to the President’s pardon power are the “United States” and “Impeachment.”
The President has the full, complete, and unfettered power to pardon, understanding the two qualifications: The U.S. and impeachment.
Surely you read the relevant Article and Section of the Constitution.

And yet…there it is… Could this pardon for things that may or may not have happened over the past 10 years pass constitutional muster? If not, then why not have biden just peremptorily just pardon the entire democrat party and any others he may choose for anything they might have done, are doing or might do in the future. This entire pardon should be run past SCOTUS.
I’d like to see a law, or amendment if necessary, passed that limits pardons to crimes that someone has been convicted of, or at least been formally charged for. Pardoning someone for unknown or future acts is crazy and unethical.

In my view the primary reason for the pardon is to protect the Biden legacy in the long haul gambling that the current uproar is merely a transient kerfuffle particularly if rationalized as a father’s love. Should Hunter later be called to confess or relate his misdeeds, he will likely take a page from Hillary Clinton and say, “I don’t recall”.
It doesn’t matter! No person who adheres to the democrat party can claim to have any moral authority or honor. It’s why they are called the treason party.
