As Democratic politicians and pundits rush to defend President Joe Biden’s unethical pardon of his son, Hunter, the public is expressing overwhelming opposition to his abuse of office. The latest poll, by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, found that only two out of ten Americans support the pardon despite weeks of media spin.
The poll shows that Biden is no longer even garnering a majority among Democrats. Only 38 percent support the pardon.
As discussed in my New York Post column this week, there was an embarrassing moment recently at the White House when Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed that a poll showed “64% of the American people agree with the pardon — 64% of the American people. So, we get a sense of where the American people are on this.”
That poll actually showed the majority of Americans opposed the pardon. Yet, it was 64 percent of Democrats who favored a president giving his own son a pardon.
It now turns out that that poll was likely wrong and that, even among Democrats, less than 40 percent support the pardon. Jean-Pierre is unlikely to use today’s press conference to highlight this poll, as she erroneously used the prior poll.
This has not stopped Democratic figures in Congress and the media fighting to excuse a grossly unethical and corrupt use of pardon authority.
Sen. Dick Durbin (D., Ill.), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate majority whip, even called it a “labor of love.”
Indeed, much of the corruption in Washington is a labor of love, from nepotism to influence peddling to corrupt pardons. Indeed, faced with overwhelming opposition from the public to the Biden pardon, Democratic members are now “Prisoners of Love” in fighting to rationalize a blatantly unethical act.

I mean there are more important stories to cover. For example, there was a court ruling this week that shook the Rupert Murdock empire. The press has been reporting Rupert wants to turn over the keys to his son, Lachlan., before he dies. Only one problem. There is a irrevocable family Murdock trust with the other three children, James, Elisabeth and Prudence all having voting rights. And they don’t like Lachlan much. They have a different vision for the company. They want the company to focus only on economic expansion and avoid political controversies–especially after the Dominion debacle where Rupert had to pay the voting system company three-quarters of a billion dollars. So they sued to prevent Lachlan from taking control and continue in his father’s footsteps by backing right-wing causes.
This week a probate commissioner, Edmund Gorman, rejected Rupert’s “carefully crafted charade” to lock out the 3 other children. In a 96-page opinion Gorman said Rupert’s scheme “was an attempt to stack the deck in Lachlan’s favor” and rejected the proposal. What is interesting is that your good friend Bill Barr is one of Rupert’s trust representatives. Gorman did not mince in criticizing Barr who “demonstrated dishonesty of purpose and motive” in trying to carry out Rupert’s plans. No other press coverage of what that is about. So, Jon, as a close friend of Barr, what was his role in trying to push through Rupert’s little scheme?
The other Q is, as a noted Fox contributor, how did you get left out of the parade? Fox News is the “Trump
staffing agency”. There is a parade (12 in number so far) of former Fox hosts and contributors being named by DJT to fill out positions in his next administration. Why have you apparently been left out. I mean, if Alina Habba, who lost the $450 million civil fraud case in NY, could land a cushy job as DJT’s personal WH lawyer, how is it that you weren’t offered a similar job? Seems odd since in that case you spent a lot of column space defending DJT. He even cited your columns in breaks during the trial in that case. So we want to know where is DJT’s gratitude for all the hard work you put in on his behalf? Come on, give us the lowdown!

I’m not 100% convinced of that. The pertinent statement in the 5th A. reads:
“nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself”
It seems to me that right has been traditionally interpreted pretty expansively, allowing a witness to merely assert that the answer to a particular line of questioning would “tend to incriminate” him, without requiring much in the way of support for that assertion (since that support could be inferred to also “tend” in the same direction). So, H. Biden is pardoned for all crimes committed within a specific date range. Just for the sake of argument, what would stop his lawyers from contending that a particular line of questioning could elicit incriminating information about criminal behavior *outside* of that date range? IANAL, but it does seem to be a valid question.

The other ad would be a litany of Democratic politicans also telling us right up until the catastrophic debate how sharp of a tack old Joe was. Follow each add with a closing statement “Do you still think this political party has the best interests of America in their plans?”
