One of the most consistent elements of the identity politics practiced by the left is its selectivity. Whether in politics or higher education, the outrage that comes from allegedly racist or insensitive comments is confined to targets on the right. A case in point is the deafening silence after a diatribe by Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, during which she accused Hispanic voters of having a “slave mentality” and said that they “can barely vote.” There was no vaporous segment on The View or condemnations on the floor from members.
Crockett has been celebrated in left-wing publications such as Vanity Fair for schooling her colleagues, which she describes as “old as sh*t.”
She offered Vanity Fair her “distilled summary of what happens within the Latino community.” Not surprisingly, it is identity politics with a race edge:
“I’ve not run into that with the Asian community. I’ve not run into that with the African community. I’ve not run into that with the Caribbean community. I’ve only run into it with Hispanics. When they think of ‘illegals,’ they think of, you know, maybe people that came out of the cartels and that kind of, like, the criminal-type book or whatever. It’s insane.”
“It almost reminds me of what people would talk about when they would talk about kind of like ‘slave mentality’ and the hate that some slaves would have for themselves. It’s almost like a slave mentality that they have. It is wild to me when I hear how anti-immigrant they are as immigrants, many of them. I’m talking about people that literally just got here and can barely vote that are having this kind of attitude.”
The attack on Hispanic voters as including people who “literally just got here and can barely vote” did not even generate objections from many Democratic Hispanic groups. Imagine if Trump or a conservative commentator made this comment.
Ironically, just before the election, I wrote how recent immigrants seemed to have a particularly strong connection to our defining and collective values. That does not appear a view shared by the congresswoman.
Crockett was, if anything, inclusive in her attacks based on gender and race. She also attacked black men and women for voting for Trump. She just dismissed black men as hating women: “I’m going to chalk up to misogyny.”
What is unimaginable is that any woman or person of color could vote on the merits against the Democrats.
Notably, after her loss, Hillary Clinton offered the same attacks on women as voting against her only because they are weak and self-loathing.
She claimed that Kamala, who notoriously avoided interviews and could not think of “a thing she would do differently” from Biden, “ran a flawless campaign.” The problem is again self-hating women and minorities, adding, “I don’t trust White women. I said, I’m just telling you, and I think you need to have conversations with your sisters, because they are the group that failed Hillary Clinton.”
The claim that Hispanics “can barely vote” would not be tolerated from someone on the right. It is reminiscent of the controversy involving Democratic lawyer and former Clinton campaign general counsel Marc Elias over what some called inherently racist comments about Georgia voters. Elias argued that Georgia voters could not be expected to be able to read their driver’s licenses correctly — a statement that seemed to refer to minority voters who would be disproportionately impacted by such a requirement.
What is striking about the Vanity Fair article is that Democrats continued to rely on identity politics despite every indication that it was not working. Now, after losing both houses and the White House, they are doubling down on identity politics.
Outgoing Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Jaime Harrison used his farewell address to warn Democrats not to abandon identity politics as the touchstone of future campaigns.

Representatives like Crockett who rush to declare the unfitness of those who choose not to vote for them. Have a greater fear. A mirror. A mirror that might reflect the true reason for their decline in voter support. Perhaps the ones she disparages are wiser than many of her supporters combined? Texas was supposed to be turning Blue, it is getting redder with each cycle. Ohio went from a swing state to red.
Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are headed the same way. Even New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Minesota, Colorado and California are at the very least shifting light blue.
Virginia could be a swing state soon enough.
Texas and Florida are going to pick up 9 house seats – and EC votes. NY and CA are going to lose 7.
The only good news for democrats is that MAYBE they will flip NC and GA ….. MAYBE.
These trends are not set in stone. But absent the Democratic party coming to its senses, they will happen.
Democrats did not lose because Trump ran a great campaign. They did not lose because Harris ran a bad one.
They lost because the Biden/Harris adminstration was a complete and total disaster, and because not just Biden and Harris, but almost the entire democratic party owns that.

* Musk is actually a mechanism toward robotizing menial tasks. Deliveries in unmanned vehicles. Farm industry etc. The workday should have been cut to 6 hours long ago at an 8 hour salary. It would have been better at creating jobs and not inflationary. The economy is a mess with imports causing fewer jobs and making the American goods overly pricey when Americans earn 20 per hour and foreign production 2 dollars per hour.

What is the difference between a job lost to a robot and one lost to a chinese factory worker. ? BTW the media wage in China is 11K/year which is about $6/hr.
If you wish to raise standard of living you must produce more value with less human effort. There is absolutely no other way.
That means if you want americans to have a higher standard of living you WANT countries like China and Mexico to produce all the things that we want cheap that can not be produced cheaply without $2/hr wages. Because being able to buy a significant portion of necescities at lower prices than the US can produce them ACTUALLY helps raise standard of loving – not lower it.
The length of the workday is a choice that belongs to each of us – something negotiated with our employer. Government has no role.
But a shorter workday MUST mean lower wages, it is impossible to produce as much in 6hrs and it is in 8hrs. and therefore wages (and standard of living MUST be lower.
Too many left and right think that minimum wages are good – but the reality is all they do is deprive lower skill people of jobs. Mo employer pays $20/hr for workers who can not generate $20 of value. Further if raising the minimum wage results in raising prices – you have changed nothing.
In the real world there is a value to flipping hamburgers – do that better and you can get alittle bit more. But if it costs to much to flip burgers, the free market will adapat – one posibility is that burger flipping will get automated, and the job will be lost.
Regardless for the high standard of living you want for ALL Americans – we MUST import low value commodities from other countries and export high vlaue luxuries to other countries.
OR we must automate the production of lower value goods so that fewer people are needed to produce them.
The above is NOT optional. There is no work around.

Trump cut lots of regulations in his first term – there was no spike in workplace injuries, poisonous products, or anyone of the hysterical predictions of the left.

And yes there is ONE big difference between Trump’s first term and his 2nd.
In the first term Trump was elected with poor support from the GOP establishment.
He not only had difficult democrats to work with, but many republicans who were not on board.
Much of his cabinet was pulled from the GOP establishment and were not fully on board with his policies.
Trump accomplished a great deal in his first term, but nearly all of it was accomplished by Trump and his inner circle inside the white house.
The assorted international deals, the fundimental decisions reqarding the military, the economy, the abraham accords, these all came from Trump or those close in the WH.
This time is different. With very few exceptions Trump’s appointments are on the same page as he is.
If Trump wants to tell Musk on Jan. 20th – You are defacto president, I am going back to Mar-A-Lago to play golf for 4 years – send me whatever you need signed.
The country will be fine. The problem with Biden was NOT that he was demented, it was that those subbing in for him were disasterous failures.
Trump has made a series of appointments that are on the same page as he is, young, and the future leaders fo the Republican party and the country.
