I have the pleasure of speaking about my book, “The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage” this weekend at Tucson Book Festival. The scheduled events are below. I hope that some of our blog community can make it. I will be signing books both days. However, I will have to leave shortly after the Sunday event to catch a flight to Berlin, Germany to speak on free speech at the World Forum.

hello
Professor Turley – I am most likely going to miss you at the Sunday signing bc you have to leave early. I was hopeful to get to see you. I was in your first class of law students at Tulane! I took your Criminal Procedure class (much tougher than I had expected!) – us 1Ls would discuss how intelligent you were and what a good professor we had in you. Little did we know what was to come from you. I feel honored to have had you teach me. My husband and I make sure we watch whenever you are on a news program. It is refreshing to listen to someone who is a scholar and who calls it as they see it with an abundance of knowledge and expertise. We know we can count on you to give us a well reasoned recitation on any issue and we trust you. Thank you for your work, your watch over our constitution and your honest reporting of the facts. Refreshing and much needed today. Safe travels. Dru Cessna (Tulane Law grad 1991)
Pro-Hamas supporters, including members of the JFH (Jews for Hamas) and the CUFH (Christians United for Hamas) will be protesting Professor Turley at the Tucson Book Festival, although none of them can actually read. An unnamed spokesperson for the Pro-Hamas protestors said this about Professor Turley: “Jonathan Turley has an opportunity to talk about the injustices carried out against Hamas supporters, but Turley insists on talking about his book. And he fails to point out the rage against our mostly peaceful pro-Hamas protests on campuses. This is unfortunate. Turley could become a hero among us, like George Floyd, Luigi Mangione, or Mahmoud Khalil. But, instead, Turley chooses to rage against our Constitutionally protected personal violence and property damage agenda to force people to our way of thinking.”

Elon Musk Shares Post Saying Hitler ‘Didn’t Murder Millions Of People’

Huff is Marxist rubbish. Technically, Mao, Stalin, and Hitler didnt do the actual mass murders. They ordered others to do their murders for them. The point of the Twitter post is that the majority populations in China, Russia, and Germany WANTED fascism. And they got what they wanted Otherwise, they would have rejected Mao, Stalin, and Hitler and eliminated them. The Twitter post in no way “excuses” or “defends” Mao, Stalin, or Hitler. Now, here in the US, there are, indeed, a large number of people who also want fascism in America, and they voted for Harris. But the majority of Americas rejected the fascists, even though Harris had the full support of the Corrupt Deep State apparatus which tried everything to eliminate Trump, including massive lawfare against him and even putting a contract on his life.
The experiments of Stanley Milgram provide some insights into how ordinary people might be compelled to carry out murders ordered by an Authoritarian State: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kzd6Ew3TraA. And the enemies of Civilization tried their best to install their puppet Harris to destroy America from within. But Americans are too smart, too resilient, and too courageous to fall into that line. Huff and its admiring readers are the exact opposite of those things.

Congrats Professor!
Personally I wouldn’t step foot on a so-called “university campus”, in this day and age, but it’s your line of work so I wish you the best. Go school em!
Someone has to…
I go every year to UOFA Book fair. Beautiful campus and weather. Last year 125,000 people showed up on the mall! Great publicity for hundreds of authors!
The book is too narrowly framing the free speech issue. Turley adopts the scenario of an overbearing governing power censoring dissent coming from less powerful actors who are well intentioned, authentic and civil. Fine, who is going to argue against expanding the rights of those voices?
But there are other scenarios he just ignores (I assume because they show speech freedom has practical limits).
How about the powerful intentionally deceiving the less powerful as a means of manipulation? Joe Biden and Antony Blinken went to ex-CIA Mike Morrell for help tilting the election with a whopper about Hunter’s laptop — and were successful in getting Biden elected. Do the voters have a right to informed consent when they vote? Political operatives believe otherwise, claiming freedom of speech allows them to “present their case” even if it later is exposed as deliberate falsehood. Where does Turley stand on deceiving the electorate?
Another undiscussed scenario is children. Do parents have a right to exercise control over what their children are exposed to?…..porn?….gambling?….terrorist propagandga pitched from overseas on social media? The purveyors of these vices claim free speech rights to be heard by youngsters. JT’s avoidance of this dimension is troubling — he writes as if only adults need be considered when freedom of speech is concerned.
The other scenario is foreign adversaries reaching through a borderless internet to opinion-shape Americans. This gets into TikTok pushing a pro-Chinese, anti-American narrative, or profession, paid Russian trolls cerativeselligence opinthiming in on blog sites like this one. Do foreigners have unfettered free speech rights to try to undermine American cohesion and trust? How about foreign intelligence operatives sent to the U.S. to dupe Americans with PsyOps?
My point is not to weaken free speech rights of ordinary Americans (the scenario JT bases his book on). I fully support those. It’s to point out that an honest treatment of free speech policy must consider a multitude of scenarios in order to comport well with common sense.
In this session, authors Amanda Becker, David Daley and Jonathan Turley will discuss some of the First Amendment freedoms that are now under fire. Voting rights, abortion access, and threats to free speech should give them plenty to talk about.
Wait, what? In that list, only free speech is protected by 1A.
I wish I had known this sooner. Are seats reservable?
Good luck, Professor Turley. 😊
Why are all these conferences in warm spots?
Was 56F and rainy in Tucson. A little warmer this weekend.
Try not to get arrested while in Berlin. We need you back here on Monday.
Arrested?
That could happen if the police think he insulted a politician.
Note to Turley:
Time to write another book.
Topics:
The failure of good men against corruption
Please be careful in Germany! Lots of terrorists there.
Lots of terrorists here too.
Courtesy of “Joe Biden” and the extreme left-wing cabal pulling the strings behind the scenes during 2021-2025.
Behind the scenes? Those scenes you so clearly saw with your own eyes?
Anonymous the stupid: Joe Biden was a cadaver. All he did was read the teleprompter. He couldn’t find his way off a stage. They even used autopen to sign his name. Try to keep up.
Typical Floyd, more stupid stuff everyday. Let me ask, ever lived there, speak their language, read their newspapers, attend political events, debate – in their language – politics?
Read and understand BND or BfV reports?
I’ll answer for you: NOPE.
It’s possible to know if there are a lot of terrorists in a place without going there and speaking the native language.
There may be ways to criticize Floyd’s comment, but your criticism misses the mark.
Really? How is that possible old man. Believe the comments here?
Misses huh? What mark?
Has to be said, you too are delusional.
Anonymous the stupid: it’s pretty easy to follow the news these days. There are these little things called newspapers, and the internet. Try to keep up with the rest of the class.
OldManFromKS,
Well said. Just do a search for car attacks in Germany, and you will get all kinds of reports.
OldManFromKS,
How many vehicles have been used to ram through crowds injuring and killing people in Germany by terrorists?
How many innocent children have been killed in this country by domestic terrorists with unfettered access to military grade weapons.
