Turley to Speak at the National Press Club on his Book “The Indispensable Right”

I have the pleasure this morning of speaking at the National Press Club on free speech and my book, The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.” The event with the Free State Foundation will explore the book’s discussion of free speech as a human right and our long struggle with the meaning of free speech.

My address will start at 9:40 am at the National Press Club. Registration is available here.

It will be an interesting warm up for my testimony shortly after the event before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday on free speech and the censorship system in the United States.

  1. James Boasberg = SCUMBAGWORMMEAT

Boasberg is Corrupt to the Core. Wife: Elizabeth “Liddy” Manson (as in Charles Manson) is the founder of an abortion NGO that is funded, indirectly, by USAID and George Soros. More Scumbagwormmeat. Daughter: Katherine Boarsberg works for a 501(c)3 called “Partners for Justice” that gives criminal illegal aliens and gang members legal advice.

Conculsion: Boasberg = Scumbagwormmeat. The equation is ineluctible.

    1. Jonathan Turley already did address the Mahmoud Khalil case; by omiision. When any hot legal issue arises, that means that he supports the particular side of the case that is wrong, but knows that position can’t be defended legally. In short, this means Turley supports Khalil remaining untouched by the US Government, even though he knows that the Trump Administration’s legal position on the case is correct. Thus, Turley knows that if he were to publish an article presenting Khalil as a victim who should remain in the US based on bogus interpretations of the laws, he would be subject to ridicule as a legal dope. Thus, it’s safer and better all around not publish anything on the subject at all.

      1. So Turley supports Trump being able to deport anybody he wants with no supporting evidence and try to cover it up using the AEA and states’ secrets act but recognizes that it’s unconstitutional and won’t hold up even in Trump’s supreme court so he won’t say anything about it because like the rest of MAGA he gets a warm fuzzy from watching people of color get manhandled by strong armed thugs?

        1. “Say what,” you’re either slow or a retard. I informed you that the opposite of what you say is true.

  2. Talk about walking into the lion’s den. God luck, Professor. To the modern left even saying, ‘free speech’, is like saying you murdered a puppy. The rest of us (and no, that does not automatically make a ll of us harbingers of ‘the right’) will watch in anticipation. Our Western world is indeed at another crossroads.

  3. Hey Turley Man instead of one of these speaking events pushing your book that nobody seems to attend and the results of which are never revealed you could schedule a top secret meeting with Trump’s national security team . You might reach a wider audience.

  4. Drat! Missed the NPC but have this afternoon’s hearing in queue. Looking forward to it but am mind-boggled that there is no apparent C-Span coverage.

  5. Dear Professor, I have read the testimony and copied it all to my IBooks folder. Excellent testimony. Now a great record for us all to keep and use as a reference in the battles to come

  6. Give Em Hell Professor. Don’t listen to George, he’s just trying to write your speech for you. It’s infantile as usual.
Use the latest Babylon Bee for your audiovisual aids. They are great.

    1. GEB,
Best to just scroll past the slow and dumb one. He and all the anonys are not worth reading.

  7. BRAVO, Prof. Turley.. You are going to be Great! Many Blessings for an Extraordinary Experience!

  8. “The Hegseth message goes on to state, “Waiting a few weeks or a month does not fundamentally change the calculus. 2 immediate risks on waiting: 1) this leaks, and we look indecisive; 2) Israel takes an action first – or Gaza cease fire falls apart – and we don’t get to start this on our own terms. We can manage both. We are prepared to execute, and if I had final go or no go vote, I believe we should. This [is] not about the Houthis. I see it as two things: 1) Restoring Freedom of Navigation, a core national interest; and 2) Reestablish deterrence, which Biden cratered. But, we can easily pause. And if we do, I will do all we can to enforce 100% OPSEC”—operations security. “I welcome other thoughts.”

Clearly….it wasn’t 100% OPSEC. It was 100% clusterflop. Some may argue that the ‘mistake’ of including Goldberg on the chat and the subsequent point that they were discussing this outside of a secure government channel is irrelevant because the Houthis were bombed successfully. No. What is overwhelmingly the point is that they were discussing military operations and their views on Europe on a private app and in violation of the Esptionage act and federal records law. It begs the question. How many more sensitive discussions have been held on the app and why? The incompetence itself is another story, but it also begs to ask, was Hegseth drunk? Buzzed? HIllary Clinton’s email scandal has nothing on this. This is 1000 times worse. Will the FBI investigate? I doubt it. FBI director Patel is just as incompetent. Pam Bondi will do nothing because she’s subservient to Trump. What a glorious mess. Fox News is already furiously trying to spin this in a positive light and it’s looking just as ridiculous.

  9. “It will be an interesting warm-up for my testimony shortly after the event before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday on free speech and the censorship system in the United States.”

Interesting indeed. Will he mention Trump’s threats of deportation as censorship? Calling to shut down CNN and MSNBC? Demanding to impeach judges because he doesn’t like their rulings? Demanding the Associated Press call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America before he allows them back in the White House press room?

I’m sure there will be serious discussion or questions. However, I doubt Turley will openly criticize the Trump administration’s double standard on free speech. He knows MAGA won’t be happy, and he knows they will vilify him for it. He doesn’t want to lose his gullible audience because he criticized their ‘Dear leader.’

  10. Seriously? There is still no awareness of Republicans and Trump attacking free speech or the Trump administration’s questionable decisions from yesterday? Wow.

This is a clear case of willful denial.

Jon Stewart highlighted the double standard among some people on the right who claim to defend free speech while actively undermining it. They seem to care only about their own freedom to express opinions, ignoring the rights of others. He made an intriguing point about social media, arguing that what we consider “free speech” there isn’t truly free at all. Instead, it is often influenced by algorithms that control what information we see, which can lead to the deliberate spread of misinformation.

Trump is making baseless complaints and demanding the removal of unflattering portrayals of him. He is also calling for the silencing of left-wing media. Furthermore, he is attempting to deport green card holders and students with visas simply because he disagrees with their political views. This stance stands in stark contrast to Turley’s arguments in his book. Defending Trump while promoting his work will undoubtedly be a challenge, especially given the irony of the current situation.

The hypocrisy in all of this is incredibly blatant and unacceptable.

    1. George is already here, doing the Leftist warm-up. No matter; Professor Turley is eminently prepared to counter every cretin in the room.
