Rep. Goldman: The FBI Investigation of Tesla Attacks is “Political Weaponization”

For many of us who were long active in Democratic politics, it is becoming increasingly difficult to recognize the party as a new generation of foul-mouthed, censorship-supporting, mob-enabling leaders take over. That sense returned this week when Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY) claimed that the FBI investigating attacks on Tesla cars and facilities is nothing but “lawfare” and “political weaponization.” Goldman’s latest controversy captures how Democrats have now entirely cut the cords of decency and moderation that once tethered their party to the mainstream of our society.

Democratic leaders have been fueling the attacks on Musk and his companies, even putting national security interests aside to seek to punish him.

Goldman (and other Democrats) have previously pushed back on criticism of Antifa and left-wing attacks. However, Goldman’s criticism of the FBI task force on these widespread attacks is otherworldly.

Goldman this week declared:

“This is the political weaponization of the DOJ. Trump uses his official authority to defend his benefactor Elon Musk. The FBI then creates a task force to use our law enforcement to ‘crack down’ [sic] on adversaries of Musk’s [sic]. Where are the Republicans so opposed to ‘lawfare’?”

There are have widespread attacks on Tesla charging stations, vehicles, and dealerships, including multiple arson attacks. It is clearly political violence orchestrated against an American company and American property owners, including individual citizens, to push consumers away from buying Musk products and associations.

That sounds a lot like the definition of terrorism. The Justice Department defines domestic terrorism as “Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.”

I have long criticized the expansion of terrorism definitions. However, this fits even the narrowest definitions. It is political violence designed to intimidate and harm those with opposing political views.

The fact that they are lone wolves like Daniel Clarke-Pounder, 24, who set himself on fire after throwing Molotov cocktails, does not change that criminal intent.

The Democrats have long been accused of belittling or dismissing the seriousness of such crimes. That was the case with Molotov-cocktail throwing lawyers in New York who were given relatively light sentences under the Biden Administration.

It is also evident in the reaction to the recent attack on a conservative in the New York subway. There is a sense of license among some on the left in carrying out attacks on those on the right.

This is how rage rhetoric of leaders like Goldman can fuel violent rage in the most unhinged elements of their party. As I previously wrote:

“What few today want to admit is that they like it. They like the freedom that it affords, the ability to hate and harass without a sense of responsibility. It is evident all around us as people engage in language and conduct that they repudiate in others. We have become a nation of rage addicts; flailing against anyone or anything that stands in opposition to our own truths.”

Once released by the rage from the confines of reason and civility, it is easy to dismiss the investigation of political violence as “political weaponization.” In attacking the FBI investigation, Goldman is the very voice of an age of rage.

Jonathan Turley is the Shapiro professor of public interest law at George Washington University and the author of “The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.”

  1. ROFL!

Walz left his Venmo account open to the public. Everyone knows who he has been paying and who has been paying him. The idiot cannot catch a break apparently.

This is the caliber of incompetence that populates Trump’s administration. Wow.

    1. Here is Mark Penn A Clinton advisor, political strategist polster on this.
      https://x.com/mark_penn/status/1904698796996780464

I personally suspect Penn is wrong – it is not wise to bet on malice when incompetence is an option.

But they again it is not like we are not dealing with the Deep State here, and we saw what they did 2016-2020.

      We could have another clinesmith

  2. More bad news that Turley can deflect against by falsely attacking Rep. Goldman and trying to reinforce MAGA talking points. Excerpted from “The Daily Beast”:

“When it rains, it pours—at least that’s the case for Mike Waltz and the country’s top national security officials this week.

After President Donald Trump’s national security adviser accidentally added a prominent journalist to a private Signal chat with more than a dozen top government officials, it emerged that he had made another digital blunder: leaving his Venmo friends list set to public.

And that’s not all. German news magazine Der Spiegel also reported Wednesday that it had found email addresses, mobile phone numbers, and even passwords belonging to a number of top Trump officials online. The information on Waltz, Defense Secretary Pege Hegseth, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was reportedly available via commercial data-search services and showed up in several recent dumps of hacked data that ended up online.

Der Spiegel added that “most” of the numbers and emails it found appeared to still be in use, with some tied to accounts on social media sites like LinkedIn, Instagram, or messaging service WhatsApp.

The incidents this week have shone a massive spotlight on the administration’s seemingly shoddy data security practices, just a few months into Trump’s tenure.”

    1. Question is, who purposefully went looking for his Venmo accounts, and why?

  3. #9. Well I dunno, Tesla’s are a part and parcel of an entire global market of the little roaming battery bombs turned loose by the globalists on the the public without any concern for public safety. Like all the gibber jabber about going to Mars. Robots sure, but no human is going to Mars until humanity achieves a few scientific break troughs that so far have alluded the best and brightest of us. The technology just isn’t there yet. Sure we can build electric vehicles, but can we build them without them blowing up and burning whatever is nearby? No, nor electric bikes, scooters, etc., etc. Which have the same bad habit of burning down the house or apartment they are plugged into. I certainly do not agree with attacking Tesla’s, which as it is happening certainly seems to be domestic terrorism. However given the human propensity for striking at the newest bright shinny spinner in the lake, there are at least that many less dangerous and defective battery bombs to worry about. Always a silver lining somewhere.

I mean, it is funny to watch the leftist extremists who tried to sell everyone on the green new money laundering scheme, go and burn it all up because like a pet cat they didn’t get their treat and are acting out. Can we get them to chop down the idiotic wind mills strung all over every hilltop and coastline? Just saying…

  4. The fascination of the American Left with violent action, which has defined it since the 1960’s, raises the question of whether they secretly admire Adolf Hitler, rather than deplore him. No one represents the effectiveness of unhinged anger than Hitler.

    1. BTW, Hitler didn’t attack the right, as you imply, he attacked Commies, Bolshvecks, … leftists.
      Unhinged anger…Hitler?
      Come on, you write BS.

      1. BTW, Hitler didn’t attack the right, as you imply, he attacked Commies, Bolshvecks, … leftists.

Republic of Czechoslovakia – a constitutional republic… obviously all commies
Republic of Austria – a constitutional republic… obviously all commies
Poland… obviously, all commies (despite outlawing the Communist Party)
Denmark… their monarch was obviously a commie
Norway… another monarch who was obviously a commie
        Belgium… monarch… commie
        Netherlands… monarch… commie
        France… commies
        Britain… another commie monarch

        Come on, you write BS.

You don’t post BS, you just Speak Your Commie Truths.

    2. Edwardmahl,
That is an interesting question. Their actions for not only censorship but violence do in many ways reflect Hitlers Brownshirts.

    3. When and where did “the American Left” foment violence? And, for that matter what IS “the American Left”? You sound like Karen S. You can write this garbage all you want to, but it in no manner mitigates the insurrection Trump called for on Jan 6th.

      1. And how about the insurrection when lefties surrounded a courthouse for 100+ days and set it on fire, for something they didn’t agree with?

  5. In 1862, a Union soldier found cigars wrapped in a piece of paper in a field of clover. The paper was a copy of Confederate Gen. Lee’s invasion orders. The Southern sloppiness helped the Union stop Lee at Antietam.

It’s unknown who lost the orders in the field, or if he was related to Pete Hegseth.

    1. I believe it was Col. Beauregard Hegseth of the Alabama 22nd Regiment, 1st Alcoholics Brigade.

  6. Day after day it seems we are hearing (“You dirty Rat: you this and that, did this or that!) from aimless charlatans tying to clog the system with nuisance and not accepting defeat. They of resent have been using profanity within their charges, further displaying a nincompoop attitude. There are so many examples of them tripping over issues that the public has indicated they want solved, yet on the way to a face plant yelling: You dirty rotten Rat, we have the solution.

As far as profanity goes, as I’ve said before: [profanity is the crutch of the inarticulate MF-er]. I know oxymoronic.

    1. George W,
I like your take on profanity! I generally do not use profanity but every once in awhile, it is appropriate, like when that stack of fire wood you have been working on for most of the day falls over.

      1. Upstate
Who was it that hardy ever if ever used profane words: Red Skelton? Saying it cheapened the thought or something along the line of crass language.

Never had a stack of wood fall, but did have a large, framed wall fall during an instant whirlwind and boy did I have some doozies come out and my pockets emptied

        George W

  7. The Signalgate scandal exposed Trump for the idiot he is–hiring people for top positions who have neither the experience or qualifications for their jobs. Their main qualification is loyalty to him, so now, the world knows that the United States cannot be trusted with sensitive information because those in charge will not admit errors and pledge to take steps to prevent them from happening again, which is the least the American people are owed, much less firing those involved for incompetence and charging them criminally. Trump initially claimed he didn’t know anything about the Signal scandal, then attacked Jeffrey Goldberg and his publication and called the scandal a “witch hunt” and “hoax”. He also claimed that he had “2 perfect months” that Democrats were trying to besmirch–something Rachel Maddow addressed last night–from my notes of just some of the highlights of the “2 perfect months”:

-the DC plane crash happened shortly after Trump took office. He blamed it on DEI, even before all of the bodies had been recovered. As it turns out, there was one traffic controller on duty when there should have been 2, and the instruments did not accurately reflect the height of the helicopter and aircraft. So, what did Trump do? Offered ALL US air traffic controllers buyout incentives to resign their jobs. Then, after someone finally got through his thick skull that we already have a shortage of air traffic controllers and lowering the number would create an unacceptable risk of plane crashes, reversed course.

-As it turns out, one of Musk’s tech bros had to resign after it was revealed that he was a “loud and proud” racist who believes in the theory of eugenics.

-another tech bro, who calls himself “big balls”, had been fired from a previous cybersecurity firm for leaking confidential information. Musk hired him anyway, and now, he has access to our Social Security records, Medicare records, tax returns and governmental employee personnel records.

-fired numerous NSA personnel, whose jobs were to protect our nuclear secrets. Then, after figuring out that this is an important service, tried to un-fire them but couldn’t reach many of them because their e-mail accounts had been eliminated and they didn’t have other contact information.

-fired CDC scientists who were working on the bird flu epidemic. Then, after figuring out that this might just be important work, tried to re-hire them.

-fired numerous employees working for the National Park Service–which set a record last year for the number of visitors. Now, they are trying to re-hire them. They need the usual number of employees plus additional seasonal workers in order to keep the parks open, but some may need to close because there wouldn’t be anyone to clean restrooms, staff ranger posts, conduct tours, answer questions, rescue people, etc..

-fired a number of investigators working on the safety of medical devices–you know, unimportant things like artifical heart valves and implanted hardware, prosthetic joints and devices. That can’t be important work–can it?

–reversed the tech bros edict that federal emplyees had to write up a summary of what they did last week–some of the work being done is classified. This was reversed after blow-back.

-tech bros misrepresented figures that claimed they found billions in waste, fraud and abuse, which they had to withdraw.

-cut the VA budget–for things like cancer treatement, payment for burial and support for medical services. Veterans are up in arms.

-Russia and China are actively trying to recruit disgruntled employees fired for no reason by Musk. Let’s hope none of them worked for the NSA. France has indicated that it will welcome any and all US scientists that Musk fired. This is a serious loss of institutional knowledge.

-after previously bragging that the stock market would soar under him, the stock market cratered after Trump announced tariffs.

–to create a photo op, used military aircraft to deport migrants–turns out that the cost of this was shockingly higher than any other means of transporting them.

-sent detained migrants to GITMO and then had to return them.

-purged photo of the Enola Gay, Col. Tibbett’s plane, named after his mother, that droped the Hiroshima bomb–because the plane had the word “gay” in the name. Also purged are photos and information of black service members who received military honors.

-FDA employees who had been fired and then re-hired, returned to offices that had broken furniture and equipment and not even chairs for many of them to sit on.

-in releasing JFK files, 400 Social Security numbers were disclosed.

-It was planned that Musk would get a briefing on war plans against China. After The New York Times disclosed this, reversed course. Musk still attends cabinet meetings. He has no security clearance, has not taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, he is not employed by or is the head of any established government agency. He is nothing but Trump’s biggest campaign donor who purchased the power to gain access to confidential information and to bully and fire federal employees on a whim.

-because of cuts to the IRS, it is projected that tax revenues will drop by $500 billion, blamed on “rapid demolition” of the agency and lack of personnel to process tax returns and conduct audits.

–had to back off of announced plan to cut phone services at the Social Security Administration and force people to go in person to offices, the number of which is being cut. Existing offices are already understaffed.

–announced 25% tariff on imported automobiles, and PARTS. Because so many component parts are imported, stocks for US auto makers cratered.

–Vance going to Greenland, even after Greenland made it clear they don’t want him to come. The plan originally was for his wife to go to a dog sled event. This had to be cancelled because of the massive protests her presence would have generated. So JD is going to some remote outpost. They simply cannot and will not respect Greenlanders. Trump doubled down on his claim that the US will “take” Greenland.

Wow! Two months–if this is how Trump and MAGA define “perfection”, I’d hate to see what it would define as failure.

    1. If I wanted MSNBC’s propaganda, I would turn them on …….. please turn yourself off.

      1. What facts that I reported are: 1. wrong; 2. projection–of what, exactly? or 3. deflection–against what, exactly? Everything I wrote that was reported is the truth.

    2. Gigi, please explain your vision of utopia. 36 trillion debt can be addressed.

    3. @Gigi

The modern left, in America (where we have a Constitution, a Bill of Rights, and a separation of powers) is very likely to die ignominiously and apparently, by their own hand, and soon. I’m guessing after that we will be hearing from you via Britain. You and George should get married. Seriously. Clowns.

    4. Another point: Musk’s group published a list of government properties that might be put up for sale. A few of these properties are where the CIA and other secret governmental operations are housed–something that is classified because we don’t want our enemies to have this information for obvious reasons. The list was taken down after awhile, but the damage was done.

  8. S@@tlibs, I am going to try to engage in wokespeak.

Remember that destroying property in the name of ‘social justice’ is a commendable thing. Now if Musk were a good leftist attacks on his dealerships would be classified as domestic terrorism.

And if you disagree with any of the above paragraph, you are a nazi and should be doxxed and destroyed.

How did I do s@@tlibs? Did I miss anything?

    antonio

      1. Ok, here’s a chance to prove me wrong and give me a ‘grasp of reality’.

Are you willing to condemn the attacks on Tesla dealerships and owners as unacceptable political violence?

Not holding my breath and calling me a nazi is not a reply.

        1. How is attacking Tesla anything other than a rejection of Elon Musk, his arrogance and his purchased ability to bully and fire federal employees and gain access to confidential records like tax returns, Social Security and Medicare accounts and federal personnel files because he gave Trump over $250 million dollars? How does Musk play into “political violence”? He is not an elected official, not a government employee, not the head of any agency, not even a governmental contractor, has never been confirmed by Congress or vetted by the FBI. It’s not a matter of politics. Musk has no right or authority to do any of the things he is doing and people are outraged at his hubris and the damage he is being allowed to inflict on our government, our scientists, our charitable help to disadvantaged people and our social safety net because he had the money to buy such power. The power he has been allowed to buy is being weilded without any rhyme or reason, including firing cancer researchers, park rangers, air traffic controllers, medical researchers and other important public servants. Their dislike of him is not politically-motivated–people are outraged by the world’s richest man buying the power to bully federal employees, demanding access to confidential records, sometimes by force, attendance at cabinet meetings and dismantling of entire agencies, like USAID–which Congress set up and funded.

          1. This is why we have investigations. I don’t know why people are fire-bombing Tesla dealerships all over the country. This why the FBI investigates acts of domestic terror. Soon we’ll know who if financing these seemingly unconnected acts across the country. It seems odd that someone is so outraged over cutting government jobs that they feel compelled to throw a bomb into a car dealership. What do these people do the other 364 days each year? You know, when they’re not building bombs in their apartments.

            1. My God! You MAGAts believe whatever swill MAGA media spoon feeds you. WHERE is the proof that anyone is “financing” these protests? WHY would you believe that those who picket and even those who do more than picket are being paid to do so and not sincerely sick to death of Elon Musk and are trying to send a message? This issue is NOT cutting government jobs–the issue is selling to the world’s richest man the power to arbitrarily bully and fire people and dismantle agencies and programs our elected representatives established–all without any plan, without any vetting of the importance of the work that is being done, and no assessment of the fallout that will result from these arbitrary firings. Some of these people are: cancer researchers, scientists working on bird flu, meat inspectors, park rangers, medical device scientists, people who process Social Security claims, VA nurses and counselors, and USAID workers. Where is there any demand by the public to fire these people, and where is there any proof that the work they are doing can be dispensed with? In addition, there’s bullying their way into federal offices, sometimes by force, gaining access to private information and downloading it onto computers — all by people who do not work for the government, who have not been given security clearances, who are downloading things like tax returns, Social Security files, Medicare claims and other confidential information on their personal computers, the security of which is unknown. THAT’s what people don’t like. Trump doesn’t care.

  9. James Boasberg = SCUMBAGWORMMEAT

Boasberg is Corrupt to the Core. Wife: Elizabeth “Liddy” Manson (as in Charles Manson) is the founder of an abortion NGO that is funded, indirectly, by USAID and George Soros. More Scumbagwormmeat. Daughter: Katherine Boarsberg works for a 501(c)3 called “Partners for Justice” that gives criminal illegal aliens and gang members legal advice.

Conculsion: Boasberg = Scumbagwormmeat. The equation is ineluctible.

  10. Dan Goldman has a history of excessive, radical partisan statements. Furthermore, he is not the brightest bulb on capitol hill. What is shocking is that he is a lawyer and rarely exhibits an understanding of the rule of law.

  11. George sounds so glum about the future of America, the economy, etc since Trump replaced The Oval Office House Plant (and Hunter Biden who ran the Autopen to sign for Biden). Let’s cheer him up!

DATA: Historically High Number of Americans Say Country on the Right Track Under Trump.

Several recent public opinion polls show a historically high number of Americans think the country is on the right track. A recent NBC poll shows 44 percent of respondents saying the country is headed in the right direction—the highest number recorded since 2004—and a Marist poll shows 45 percent saying we’re on the right track—the highest number since 2009.

The opinion surveys, along with recent hard economic data, directly contradict the corporate media narrative that sliding consumer confidence signals an imminent recession. Instead, the data would appear to suggest that recent declines in consumer confidence are being driven by the said corporate media narrative and not economic realities.

“Let’s take a look at the percentage of the country who say that we’re on the right track. It’s actually a very high percentage when you compare it to some historical numbers,” CNN data guru Harry Enten noted during a recent segment. “What are we talking about? According to Marist, 45 percent say we’re on the right track. That’s the second highest that Marist has measured since 2009.”

“How about NBC News? Forty-four percent. That’s the highest since 2004!” Enten exclaimed. “The bottom line is the percentage of Americans who say we’re on the right track is through the roof.”

The CNN data reporter said the current polling is above the number seen when incumbents are usually re-elected, suggesting Republican candidates could perform fairly well during the 2026 midterms if voter sentiment about the country’s direction remains positive.

Will this reassure George, resulting in him no longer declaring that the economy is doing nothing and America is going down the tubes?

No, of course not. The polling was of normal Americans – and George is just a Cheap Fake American.

  12. George posted this surprise: OT; Water Is Wet – and the Washington DC Appeals Court Affirms their fellow Washington DC Judge Boasberg’s TRO”

Nobody saw THAT coming – particularly with a judge who said during that hearing that Trump copying what President Truman did to deport these Aliens (using the same standard of due process as Truman did to do so) looked to her like what the Nazis did to Jews. No mention from her about how Trump’s use of this act seems different to her than Truman doing this. Just the Democrats claiming Trump is a Nazi.

No concerns from them about the existing SCOTUS decision on this matter (because it’s theoretically just a TRO, so that doesn’t matter?) saying this is beyond judicial review by Boasberg?

No concerns from the Boasberg’s fellow Washington DC Democrat Appeals Court judges that Boasberg refuses to recuse himself and in refusing to do so is in violation of Code of Conduct for United States Judges, Canon 3C: Disqualification?
    https://www.uscourts.gov/administration-policies/judiciary-policies/ethics-policies/code-conduct-united-states-judges
A judge shall disqualify himself or herself in a proceeding in which the judge’s impartiality might reasonably be questioned, including but not limited to instances in which:
The judge or the judge’s spouse, or a person related to either within the third degree of relationship, or the spouse of such a person is:

Known by the judge to have an interest that could be substantially affected by the outcome of the proceeding

Boasberg’s daughter is merching out her a 501(c)(3) organization where wealthy donors enrich her for developing avenues to prevent legal proceedings against Illegal Aliens – including obstructing and stopping the deportation of Illegal Aliens.

Biden’s son merching out Biden’s office in the White House. New York Judge Merchan’s daughter merching out Daddy’s courtroom while he refused to recuse and judges Trump.

And now Washington DC Judge Boasberg’s daughter merching out Daddy’s courtroom while he refuses to recuse and judges Trump.

And here’s George! Nothing To See Here; Please Believe Us, Don’t Believe Your Lying Eyes™

  13. The core of this is Goldman is calling for ending FBI investigations into domestic terrorism.

  14. The democrats are the biological boy who can only win against the girls. Straight up they have no chance, lie, cheat, deception is all they have.

    1. Dems are mad jealous. Trump is way better at lying, cheating and deception than they are.

  15. I don’t know if I would flatter Goldman as the “voice of the age of rage”. More like the “voice of a complete imbecile”. Goldman is the absolute dumbest guy in Congress, bar none. This idiot makes Raskin sound like a deep thinker.

  16. Aside from a lower level of violence, how do Democrats differ from jihadists? They called for a Fatwa against Tesla, formerly their darling.

      1. Mespo,
Is lighting yourself on fire with your own Molotov cocktail really better?

        1. Upstate, I have read that a significant portion of their constituency is Flaming. I never truly understood that before.
