Audrey Hale, the 28-year-old transgender shooter in Nashville, reportedly wanted to kill children so that she would not be forgotten. According to police, the only concern that she had throughout her “rage storms” was not that she would be called a mass murderer or child killer but a racist. Her primary grievance appeared to be with Creswell Middle School, where she was bullied as a transgender student. However, she dropped that target at the last minute because it had a large black population and she did not want to be thought of as a racist.
Hale shot and killed six victims at a Nashville Christian school on March 27, 2023. However, she originally planned to shoot up another school. She created detailed plans for the attack on Creswell Middle School, which she attended, and she blamed for the past bullying. She said that she wanted to become a “god . . . by killing victims nobody would forget: children.”
According to the police report, she spent months working on the plans for the Creswell attack:
“Her OCD was manifest during this time with the excruciating detail she gave to the attack, including precise timelines, detailed descriptions of the clothing she would wear, and the specific route she would progress through the school. The more she pored over the details, the more convinced she was of her own success. The ‘rage storms’ that interspersed these plans also became more heated, showing Hale’s anger was reaching the boiling point.”
However, by March 2020, she changed her mind. Not to spare the lives of innocent children, mind you. She realized that Creswell Middle School had a large minority population and people might think that she was racist. So, she decided to kill the children at the Covenant Christian School because they were mainly white. She would prove she was not a racist by killing those children because of their race:
Hale began to express doubts about targeting Creswell Middle. Her doubts weren’t necessarily about the intention to kill children, but more about the racial demographics of the school. Hale knew a large portion of the student body was black. Though she had no qualms about killing anyone regardless of specific demographical categories, she worried she might be branded as a racist, which would remove her ability to give the motive and reasoning for the attack and [instead] allow others to choose it for her once she was dead.
She wanted to be a mass child killer. The last thing that she wanted was for people to think that she was a racist.
We have reached a point where we have all these protected groups of people that if they don’t receive preferential treatment then they are being discriminated against.

There is no evidence that medical intervenions in people who claim to be Trans are net beneficial – they appear to be beneficial in a small number of cases – but the already high suicide rates increase signifcantly after intervention, all trans who have medical interventions face a life time of significantly increased medical costs. A significant portion detransition – this is pretty common – but it appears to be more common with F2M trans. and the effects on them are permanent.
I do not oppose adults chosing medical interventions – I do not oppose plastic surgery. I do not oppose adults legally shooting heroin if they wish. Adults should be able to do as they please – so long as any harm from their choices is confined to themselves.

There is an incredibly easy solution to the reciprocal tariffs for countries complaining. The tariffs are on autopilot. Lower your tariffs on the United States and your tariffs will go away. Open your markets to us and we will open our markets to you. These countries seem to think tariffs are useful as they impose them

A lot of good comments today, including especially the difficulties of living with a mentally ill relative. It is a special type of hell for families and the intrafamily wars that develope over how and what to treat and how long to deal with an individual who always fails to follow thru on treatment or who adamantly refuses treatment and then expects the family to shoulder everything. No perfect answers there for anyone.
I’ve treated many people over the years with bipolar disorder, major depression, schizophrenia, and a whole host of other mental health issues. The drugs that we have now do work. Are they perfect? Well, No they are not. I’ve never met a perfect drug.
Drugs are poisons, given for a specific purpose and they all have side effects and allergic reactions (definitely not the same thing and often difficult to discern one from the other although a layman would say it should be obvious).
I’ve used a lot of SSRI’s which are quite effective but not always and they do have side effects and sometimes they fail. They are used for a variety of other problems including chronic pain and work well. The newer anti-psychotics are far better than what we had in the past and mood stabilizers are far more effective in bipolar disorder often when used with an SSRI.
Consider what we had before for depression. Mellaril which was quite potent and effective but patient’s had a common tendency to drop dead on the psych ward with a heart arrhythmia, with no history of heart disease. Or elavil, which could put you to sleep and drag out the day and also a very common drug used for suicide because less than a bottle’s worth would kill you by stopping your breathing. It is virtually impossible to kill yourself with an SSRI (a major reason they are used instead of older drugs).
And then there was electro-convulsive therapy for intractable depression and it worked but you might lose 2-3 days of memory. Insulin shock was used the same way. And then there was the old stand by, frontal lobotomy.
So that’s why we have now.
The medical profession has been screaming about mental health needs for decades but no one wants to fund it or put in place the structure for real comprehensive care.
And lastly, think of the people who treat these mental health disorders. Psychiatrists usually have the highest suicide rate among physicians. I have no data on psychologists, psychiatric nurses or social workers but this all make me wonder.
Speaking of racism, has anyone noticed that millions upon millions of non-white, non-American illegal alien invaders, including members of extremely violent gangs as shock troops, have been inserted into and deployed in America under Obama’s first two terms and his third “full PUTSCH” rendition, which was commonly referred to as the Biden tenure?
Obama, the NAACP, BLM, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, Mexican and Latinx allies et al. have quite the army in place, don’t they?

This is the probblem. I’ve read all the comments so far and all focus on how bad or disturbed or mentally ill the shooter was. The punching down and guessing about the motives and using this incident to trash others like her, the transgender community.

The issue everyone keeps ignoring is the bullying. The constant bullying and denigration takes a huge toll. It was used to bash gays and lesbians and treat them with contempt. Bullying can and does lead to fits of rage when pushed far enough. We often don’t sympathize with a bully who ends up getting seriously injured or hospitalized after being attacked by a victim. Right? The bully had it coming and supposedly deserved it, right?

Because if s/he had the surgical procedures and completed the counseling, he became a she and was not “trans”. In other words, half of the battle for recognition was to be the “trans” shooter. While your point is well taken, it could possibly use some refinement. Consider, for example, cases where it is essential to draw a distinction between self-defense and murder. Absent primary consideration of motive, how would you accomplish that?
Since motive was the subject, I was obviously not talking or thinking of such differentials. But self-defense is usually demonstrable to a degree or other. That is one of the places circumstance can be very telling.
