“We Study Fascism…We’re Leaving the U.S.”: The NY Times Runs Video of Yale Professors Fleeing to Canada

The New York Times continues to work tirelessly to maintain the narrative that the United States is now a fascist regime. Earlier, the Times demonstrated its view of balanced analysis by running a collection of legal opinions titled “A Road Map to Trump’s Lawless Presidency.” Now, it is featuring three Yale professors fleeing fascism for the safety of Canada, making direct references to the rise of the Nazis. The video is titled “These Yale Professors Study Fascism.

All three professors are going permanently to Canada to teach at the University of Toronto. It appears that the systemic rollback of free speech for conservatives in Canada is not a deterrent for Yale professors longing to be free.

The seven-minute opinion video features the three scholars:  Yale philosophy Professor Jason Stanley and history professors Marci Shore and Timothy Snyder (who are married).

Shore insisted that the United States is now a fascist country replicating the Nazi takeover. Indeed, she mocks those of us who believe that our constitutional system has proven itself for centuries as a guarantor of civil liberties, including our system of checks and balances. Shore dismisses such assurances while suggesting that the American people are a virtual ship of fools in not recognizing the fascists all around them: “The lesson of 1933 is that you get out sooner rather than later.” She added that Americans are

“like people on the Titanic saying, ‘Our ship can’t sink.’ We’ve got the best ship. We’ve got the strongest ship. We’ve got the biggest ship. Our ship can’t sink,” she said. “And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can’t sink.”

Professor Snyder declared that Americans are deluding themselves:

“If you think there is this thing out there called ‘America,’ and it’s exceptional, that means that you don’t have to do anything. Whatever is happening, it must be freedom. Soon, you are using the word freedom, what you are talking about is authoritarianism.”

The New York Times splices in ominous images of migrants being detained, children crying, and anti-Israel protesters being arrested. It also shows the image of Elon Musk’s alleged Nazi salute, a ridiculous claim fostered by the media.

Previously, Snyder did interviews claiming an oligarchic conspiracy led by Musk:

“we’re shifting from a democracy, which had some pretty heavy oligarchical streaks running through it, toward something like an oligarchy, in which I think it’s fair to say that it’s not Trump who’s the most important person. It’s Musk. Trump has debts. Musk has money. Trump has debts specifically to Musk for getting him elected. And I think the burden of proof is actually on Trump to show that he has any room for maneuver in this system. And it’s going to be interesting to see how congressional Republicans react, because what this particular oligarch wants is to break the federal government. And whatever their views might be, not — many of them don’t actually want the United States of America to cease to exist so that oligarchs can pick up the pieces.”

That is who the New York Times featured in its latest apocalyptic diatribe. What is interesting about one interview is how Snyder predicts Trump will engage in censorship through litigation, noting that it will not involve direct censorship barred by the First Amendment. He entirely ignores the massive censorship system of conservatives fostered by the Biden Administration on social media. That was apparently not something that you would speak out against, let alone leave the country over.

Professor Stanley’s past contributions to the political debate include his condemnation of “the right-wing hateosphere” in a diatribe that he later reaffirmed:

I am really, truly, embarrassed by the fact that my mild comment ‘F[**]k those assholes’ is being spread. This wildly understates my actual sentiments towards homophobic religious proponents of evil like Richard Swinburne, who use their status as professional philosophers to oppress others with less power. I am SO SORRY for using such mild language.

In the New York Times video, Stanley clinically explains that “you know you’re living in a fascist society when you’re constantly going over in your head the reasons why you’re safe. What we want is a country where none of us have to feel that way.”

It is a curious statement. Most of us fight to preserve our civil liberties to maintain a country that remains the longest, most stable, and most successful constitutional system in history. We do not dramatically pick up our things and stomp out of the country in a self-aggrandizing huff.

Losing elections can certainly make some “feel that way,” but for the rest of the country, it seemed like democracy at work. In the meantime, our courts are sorting out challenges to Trump executive orders, with many judges, including Trump appointees, ruling against the Administration. Those are the pesky “checks and balances” that Professor Shore blissfully dismissed in the New York Times video.

What is truly striking is that even Yale (which has purged virtually all conservatives from its faculty ranks) is not sufficiently “safe” for these three academic émigrés. They are going to the University of Toronto and Ontario to feel truly safe.

Of course, Ontario is not viewed as a safe space for many conservatives or contrarians. It proved hardly protective for University of Toronto professor emeritus Jordon Peterson when he was ordered to take mandatory training classes to curb his controversial writings. That order was upheld by successive Canadian courts.

So now these three academics will relocate to Toronto to teach Canadian students about fascism. They may, however, want to tread lightly on the subject of free speech.

  1. Who in the hell gave President Trump a fascist playbook that dismantles federal bureaucracies, cuts waste, fraud and abuse in his agencies, returns power from the federal government back to the states, disentangles the United States from foreign interventions and argues before the court instead of ignoring them?

That person obviously needs to be fired.

  2. Apropos of yesterday, Sotomayor wanted to know what would happen if the government tried to seize everyone’s guns:

    https://reason.com/volokh/2025/05/16/does-justice-sotomayor-really-want-to-know-what-the-remedy-would-be-if-the-government-confiscated-everyones-guns/

The author of the article includes this little nugget:

We have a similar story in Texas history. During the Texas Revolution, the Mexican Army demanded that the Texians in the City of Gonzales surrender their cannon. What did the Texians say? Come and Take It! The remedy here was not equitable; it was belligerent. The Texians did not reply with a canon of construction; they replied with a cannon of destruction.

  3. I expect the combined IQ of those three Yale Professors doesn’t approach Jordan Peterson’s and he fled autocratic authoritarianism in Canada for more academic freedom in the United States.

  4. OT Sorry but important.’
SCOTUS today extended its freeze on Trump deportation of Venezuelan detainiees under AEA (remand to 5th Cir.)
Immediately, NBC focused on Washington State’s AG Nick Brown, who announced to media that “It’s incumbent upon AGs to defend Americans from their president.”

Repeat: “to defend Americans from their president.”

I cannot think of a more divisive, damaging, and polarizing statement. Just what the country needs.

    1. Not to mention that the Scotus order does not even apply to Americans, but to Venezuelans here illegally. Nick Brown, pfft, what an a**h0le.

      1. Good point, but it’s the national media coverage focusing on his comment that I take umbrage with.

    2. Tried listening to it again. I can’t. Sotomayor is the Joe Biden of the court. Diabetes has taken its toll. Poor thing.

      Who’s charge is the 5th?

    3. It’s incumbent upon all Americans to obey the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I just found out the problem with homeowners insurance in California; California unconstitutionally seized that industry through regulation.

The CA insurance industry doesn’t have a problem; the problem is the unconstitutional regulation by CA.

The communists in the one-party communist state of California believe their cognitive processes are superior to those of once-free individual Americans and they could not be more wrong.

For the record, the insurance industry is comprised of corporations that are private property, distinctly not public property, the very absolute private property of the 5th Amendment.

      To wit,

“[Private property is] that dominion which one man claims and exercises over the external things of the world, in exclusion of every other individual.”

      – James Madison

The takeover of the insurance industry by California must have been struck down by the Supreme Court at the outset.

The judicial branch is high criminal, and it is long past time for that to have been corrected.

    1. Can you imagine Thomas Jefferson being blocked from deporting a horde of Barbary Pirates that John Adams allowed into the country? I don’t believe our founding fathers ever envisioned just how self-destructive future generations would become.

      1. The world laughs derisively at our Supreme Court’s absurdity in these matters.

    1. So to avoid an oppressive bureaucracy we move to a system that is on a downhill slide to socialist control? That fact alone is the best reason for Trump to stop pretending that Canada and the US should merge. We need 45 million more people in a clown car to autocracy to our population? NY, Mass., California, Illinois, Oregon, and Washington are not enough? Canada: great vacation spot. Hold on to your U.S. passport, you will need it to return next week. Bill Hill

    2. Olly & Oldman,

The “Supreme” Court isn’t looking very Supreme these days.

It seems to want to emulate the courts of Brazil and Europe and that is not at all a good look.

Funny that they were unable to find jurisdiction in any of the election cases in the stolen election and they are able to discover, or divine, it in a case where the statute expressly says they have no jurisdiction.

  5. Conservatives don’t get it. WELCOME to the new transformed USA of thieves, robbers, murderers and we will have abortions and everything else we want. Welcom to our little world.

Congrats , 3 profs for getting out.

  6. America has both freedom and abundance. Any child born today has less than a 4% chance of being an American, and the ones that are have won the lottery. A child born today is far more likely to be born into grinding 3rd world poverty or a brutal dictatorship. If the gates to all nations were thrown open for a month and everyone could travel, we would get far more of an influx into America than out of it. This is called the gates test.

People like these professors, or Rosie O’Donnell or Ellen Degeneris, who leave America because they don’t like President Trump are usually pretty well off, and they are big fat spoiled babies.

    1. That’s right. People don’t evaluate the nations, world as a whole. 75 percent live in food scarcity and grinding poverty. It’s not God’s best world.

The US lives in grinding poverty and crime now, too. DJT went to the middle east to employ Americans and they agreed to purchase products. His next miracle feat will be in getting people to work.

    2. I just looked it up, and in 2023 the actual percentage of live births that occurred in the US was 2.7%. So, pretty far below the 4% figure I cited.

  7. From “The Oxford Dictionary”:

“Fascism is defined as a far-right, authoritarian political ideology and movement characterized by:
Centralized autocratic government led by a dictatorial leader.

Extreme nationalism and often militarism, emphasizing the supremacy of the nation over individual interests.

Suppression of opposition and belief in a natural social hierarchy.

Severe economic and social regimentation, often associated with a contempt for democracy.

Historically, it dominated parts of Europe between 1919 and 1945, marked by militant nationalism and a hatred of communism and socialism.”

All of the foregoing apply to the Trum regime and Project 2025. Trump is clearly trying to be “an autocratic dictator”–he tries to rule by Executive Orders in lieu of legislation because he can’t get legislation passed–Americans overwhelmingly oppose Project 2025, which is the playbook Trump is enacting. America was not designed to be run by Executive Orders, most of which Courts have struck down as unconstitutional–so what does the dictator do? Go after the Courts–an example of which is yesterday’s SCOTUS hearing, in which Trump’s “solicitor general” tried to make the case that individual federal judges cannot issue rulings that apply nationwide. This clearly falls under the concept of “contempt for democracy”, along with efforts by Republicans to try to invalidate Democratic votes–like what happened in that Supreme Court race in North Carolina, in which Republicans tried to invalidate military and other ballots on technical reasons. Then, there’s the Indiana AG and the Republican Indiana Legislature which is trying to invalidate student IDs for voting purposes–Why? Has there been ANY provable fraud related to student IDs? No–it’s because of the belief of Indiana Republicans that more college students vote Democratic than Republican–they’ll do anything to suppress Democrat votes. These are just 2 examples.

“Suppression of opposition”–how about arresting people who protest against Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people, law firms that represented Trump’s perceived enemies, and the EO that AG Blondie go after Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor because they wouldn’t lie for Trump and exposed things he didn’t like? Excerpted from “Politico”, dateline 4/9/25: “President Donald Trump is targeting two former first-term appointees over their criticism of his actions, stripping their security clearances and opening federal probes of their tenures.

The directives that Trump signed on Wednesday order the Justice Department to scrutinize former senior Department of Homeland Security official Miles Taylor and Christopher Krebs, who ran Trump’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

The two critics are the latest to be swept up in Trump’s expansive retribution campaign, where he’s sought to use federal powers in unprecedented ways to punish political opponents, law firms, universities and others that he believes have wronged him.” Trump’s referring to migrants as “animals, vermin, murderers, rapists and criminals” meets the description of belief in a natural social hierarchy, along with tax breaks for the wealthiest. His deportation of migrants without due process and ignoring of the SCOTUS order to “facilitate” the return of Abrego Garcia is another example of contempt for democracy.

Yes, Trump IS a fascist–and Americans are coming to realize it–which is why there are protests in the streets, outside of Tesla dealerships and Congressional offices. We don’t like the fact that he took food and medicine away from starving people, tried to shut down the CFPB that saves regular people over $3 billion a year in unfair charges, and trying to close down the Department of Education, cut off funds for research, including bird flu research, cancer research and medical device safety–and, to what end? Tax breaks for American oligarchs.

    1. Fascism is defined by Musolini – the Father of Fascism as
      “everything in the state
      nothing outside the state
      nothing against the state”

Musolini and Hitler and all the other fascist leaders were ALL socialists.

Socialism is a LEFT wing ideology.

The most fascist world leader today is Xi. The current government of china strongly resembles that of Nazi Germany.
And again – Xi and Communist China are on the LEFT.

    2. It must be exhausting transcribing all that MSNBC horse manure into this comments section. We get it – – Trump is Hitler and Republicans are Nazis and GiGi, her friends and other dem voters are all on the side of the angels. Yada, yada, yada. What are you going to say in a few years when the economy’s booming, there’s full employment, household incomes are up, there are fewer wars, people are happy AND we’re STILL a Republic? Will you still be hyperventilating or what? Geez, Gigi!

    3. “Fascism is defined as a far-right, authoritarian political ideology”

Before you assign a label of far-right you should know what it means. MAGA is not far-right unless you wish to make up your own meaning. Some consider far-right to be so far to the right that it is far-eft, but that wouldn’t be accurate either. Historically far-right is fascism and far-left is communism, but one can look at the fascist and communist nations and see what they have in common followed by a comparison with our Constitutional democracy no matter which leader you wish to pick.

Fascism is one party rule. We have multiparty rule, democratic voting and a constitution that remains relatively stable no matter which party or man rules.

Trump did not nationalize industries, abolish free press, or suspend civil liberties. If you wish to use the term direct it at Biden who tried to control the media and the MSM, used censorship, and suspended the civil liberties of citizens.

“In fascism, the state is supreme, and individual rights are irrelevant.”

Trump does not consider the state supreme and lives under the Constitution. He does not step on individual rights. Remember Biden sending out the FBI to harass Catholics and women with children because they spoke out against his policies?

Biden misused the FBI as his personal militia against the right of individuals to speak out. That is what fascists do.

I could go on and on, but it is easiest to skip the terms right and left.

      Large government: fascist.
      no individual rights: fascist
state supreme, individual subservient to the state: fascist.

In the US, who wants large government? Democrats
      who used censorship? Democrats
Who thinks the state should be supreme? Democrats.

That wasn’t always true but it is today.

    4. “From “The Oxford Dictionary””

Who is more authoratative with respect to the definition of fascism ? Musolini – the creator of fascism ? Or the modern oxford dictionary taken over by leftists.

Can you name a single fascist country ever that was not also socialist ?
Fascism is a form of socialsim.
It is NOT on the right.
not without a lunatic 1984 defintion of the right.

The right CAN be authoritarian, but not fascist or socialist.

Authoritarian means consolidating power in government and consolidating that government power in a small number or even one person.

Trump is fighting to REDUCE the power of government.
      To REDUCE spending.
      To REDUCE taxes,
      To REDUCE debt.
      To REDUCE the deep state
To REDUCE the federal bureaucracy that holds power over the people.

      That is ANTI-authoritarian.

BTW democracy IS contemptable – or more accurately it is TYRANNY.

We reduce the power of govenrment to increase individual liberty.

“he tries to rule by Executive Orders in lieu of legislation”
This is NONSENSE. Executive orders are directions to those within the executive that direct how the policies as well as laws passed by congress are to be implimented.

No executive order has power beyond the members of the executive branch itself.

Trump can by executive order require the government to reduce waste fraud and abuse.
He can NOT by executive order direct YOUR personal life. You can not by executive order change the constitution, or change the law, or infringe on the rights of private individuals.
But you can tell government departments to eliminate waste, to stop speding money not specifically authorized by congress. To enforce the existing laws that are on the books.

There are a FEW things Trump has tried to do by EO that he can not do. Trump can not change the meaning of the 14th amendment and end birthright citizenship by EO.

Just as Biden can not forgive the debt of millions of college students by EO.

While Trump has issued a large number of EO’s
The vast majority of those merely say “FOLLOW THE LAW”

      “Americans overwhelmingly oppose Project 2025”
Americans overwhelmingly have no clue what project 2025 is – it is just a boogy monster in the closet created by left wing nuts.
Americans overwhelmingly support Agenda 47 – which they VOTED FOR.

What has Trump done that is NOT part of Agenda 47 ?
“America was not designed to be run by Executive Orders”
      Actually it LITERALLY is

      “Article. II.
      Section. 1.
The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. ”

The very first line of the section of the constitution on the executive branch
The oath of all civil servants requires them to obey the laws and constitution – which requires them to obey the president.
The oath for those in the military EXPLICITLY requires obeying the president.

“most of which Courts have struck down as unconstitutional”
Totally False – every single EO that has been fully adjudicated has been afirmed by the courts.
      There are few of them.
Further Trump has won the vast majority of challenges to his EO’s
But a court in Western PA or TX that says that Trump’s use of the AEA is perfectly constitutional, gets drowned out by one in DC or Washington that does NOT reach a final conclusion but issues a TEMPORARY retraining order barring the implimentation fothe EO until a long protracted case that Trump will win – either before that ocurt or on appeal.

Todate there is not a SINGLE EO that has been rejected in a final order by ANY court – much less the supreme court.

You do not seem to grasp that TRO’s and preliminary injunctions are NOT final decisions on the merits.

” SCOTUS hearing, in which Trump’s “solicitor general” tried to make the case that individual federal judges cannot issue rulings that apply nationwide.”
Something that RBG and Sotomayor and Kagan have ALL said in the past.

Congress has the power to determine whether individual federal judges can rule nationwide.
At this time they have not passed a blanket law prohibiting nationwide orders.

But they have passed myriads of procedural laws that restrict ALL TRO’s and prepliminary injunctions and further limit nationwide ones.
These left wing courts have NOT followed those rules of judicial procedure.

“This clearly falls under the concept of “contempt for democracy””
No it falls under contept for the lawless members of the judiciary.

This is NOT even all democrat appointed judges. This nonsense is limited to a handful of judges nationwide. Trump has actually won far more often even among democrat judges than he has lost.

I think Trump is likely to LOSE his effort to end nationwide injunctions – because there are RARE instances in which those are apropriate. The specific case that Trump is using to challenge nationwide injunctions is a perfect example.
Trump can not change the 14th amendment by EO.
Further the EO in question likely violates the individual rights of US citizens across the US, and allowing it to work its way through the courts before a final decision would irreparably harm many citizens.

The vast majority of the nationwide TRO’s do NOT meet these narrow criteria.
They do NOT involve the actual constitutional rights of US citizens.
Teh president is ultimately likely to win them,
and there is no irrepearble harm to allowing the govenrment to continue the EO until it is finally adjudicated.

ALL these criteria must be met for a nationwide TRO.

” along with efforts by Republicans to try to invalidate Democratic votes–like what happened in that Supreme Court race in North Carolina, in which Republicans tried to invalidate military and other ballots on technical reasons. ”
Gigi, either laws are to be obeyed or they are not.

A ballot is either “technically correct” and should be counted, or it is NOT and should not be counted.

Election laws are meaningless if you claim they are purely technicalities that need not be obeyed.

“Then, there’s the Indiana AG and the Republican Indiana Legislature which is trying to invalidate student IDs for voting purposes–Why? Has there been ANY provable fraud related to student IDs?”
Of course there is. You can get a student ID even if you can not legally vote.

” No–it’s because of the belief of Indiana Republicans that more college students vote Democratic than Republican–they’ll do anything to suppress Democrat votes.”

The evidence from exit polls is that the youngest generation of voters is the most conservative we have seen. So your argument does not hold up.

Regardless, you constantly make arguments based on intent, not facts or law.
You make arguments based on YOUR guess as to the intentions of others.
Are you a telepath or something that you nor more of the hearts of others that god claims to know ?

““Suppression of opposition”–how about arresting people who protest against Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people”
Protest all you want. Those arrested trespassed and damaged property that was not theirs.
Even Martin Luther King will tell you that the power of civil Disobediance, is your willingness to expose injustice by subjecting yourself to it.

Those arrested failed to manifest the power of civil disobedience because there actions were not just.

“law firms that represented Trump’s perceived enemies”
Trump is not going after perceived enemies or even real enemies – though these people are inarguably that. Once again he is going after lawlessness.

These lawfirms can represent whoever they wish. But they can not perpritrate a national security hoax on the FBI and expect to maintain security clearances.

“and the EO that AG Blondie go after Chris Krebs”
Krebs statements are again unarguably false. Even if you do not beleive the 2020 election was stolen, only a complete moron would claim it was the most secure ever.
In arguably it was the worst conducted national election since the 19th century.
People who lie do not get security clearances. People who were very wrong about matters of consequence – do not get security clearances.

If you shilled the collusion delusion – no security clearance.
If you made the idiotic claim that the 2020 election was well conducted – no security clearance.
If you tried to sell the nonsense that the Hunter Biden laptop was russian disinformation – no security clearance.

Did these people lie ? Did they just get it wrong ? It does not matter.

There is no right to a security clearance.

“The two critics are the latest to be swept up in Trump’s expansive retribution campaign”
So it is OK for those on the left to target people for their political views.
But it is not OK for Trump to deprive people who eitehr lied or were moronically wrong of a security clearance they have no right to.

The people I want protecting the US from national security threats are NOT those who lie, and not those who where moronically wrong, and not those who bought into stupid hoaxes.

That is not retribution, that is wisdom.

      “universities”
Are being punished for violating the Civil Rights act and Title 9.
Personally I think the portion of the Civil rights act that applies to private acotrs is unconstitutional. If Harvard wishes to be racist against jews and asians – it should be free to do so. But Government should not be subsidizing Harvard – or any college.

I want people and institutions to be free to act or speak as they wish – including spewing your left wing nut sexist, racist hatred. I also do NOT want those doing so protected from the disdain of the people outside of government by government subsidies.

The correct rule should NOT be that if you accept governmetn funding you become a government agent subject to the same constitutional limits as govenrment.

The correct rule is that Government can not subsidize you and you can speak and act as you wish subject to reward or punishment from the people each individually.

“others that he believes have wronged him.”
There is no beleif about it. Those of you on the left did go completely lawless, and you still are.
You have targeted him – and you target the country and anyone who disagrees with you.

“Trump’s referring to migrants as “animals, vermin, murderers, rapists and criminals”

Not migrants – illegal aliens – when you can not use the correct words you mangle your own thoughts.

All of these people are criminals – it is a crime to enter the country if you are not a citizen or legal resident. It is not a very serious crime. But it is a crime, and they are criminals.

All are not animals, vermin, murders and rapists. But contra the left demographic data from the past 10+ years shows that the rates of violent crime among illegal immigrants is more than double the rest of the population. It is true that a large number of illegal aliens do everything possible to avoid coming to the attention of law enforcement – most are far more law abiding than citizens. It is also true that a small number are violent beyond belief.

It is also true – and has been for centuries that countries OFTEN send their prisoners, criminals, problems to other countries along with those fleaing to the US.

“His deportation of migrants without due process”
They get Due process – but they are being sent home – not being executed. Little due process is required if no rights are violated.

“ignoring of the SCOTUS order to “facilitate” the return of Abrego Garcia”
The executive has no power to fascilitate the return of MS13 gang baner Garcia without exercising foreing relations powers of the exeutive that are beyond the reach of the courts.

Even SCOTUS can not any more order the President to try much less acheive the Garcia’s return, that it can order the president to start a war or to end one.
I would further not that Garcia is not a us citizen and not a legal US resident. He has no visa, he con not legally enter the country.
YOUR false claim is that the US supreme court ordered the Trump administration to commit a crime.

“another example of contempt for democracy.”
      Democracy is contemptable.
The US is NOT a democracy.

      “Yes, Trump IS a fascist”
Not according to Musollini the creator of fascism.

“Americans are coming to realize it”
      ROFL
Trumps approval rating is 51% it has been above 50% all of may.
47% say the US is headed in the right direction – that is almost 20pts higher thanunder Biden.

“which is why there are protests in the streets, outside of Tesla dealerships and Congressional offices.”
That is what left wing nuts do – protest. But the protests of the left are weak and impotent and except when they are violent people tend to ignore them.

I am happy to see left wing nuts protest.
That tells me who the clueless idiots that can not be trusted are.

“We don’t like the fact that he took food and medicine away from starving people”
      ROFL
Those of you on the left are constantly pretending that but for your policies – millions would die. But those are lies. none of your polices has ever had a positive impact on a trend.

“tried to shut down the CFPB that saves regular people over $3 billion a year in unfair charges,”
The CFPB might have saved people $3B last year – but it did so by depriving them of services that they sought and were willing to pay for.

You do not ever regulate something and get more – you always get less. And you always increase the cost of what you regulate.

“trying to close down the Department of Education”
      The sooner the better.
The Department of education spends a great deal of money but has no consequential role in the education of our children.
It is a perfect example of waste.

“cut off funds for research, including bird flu research, cancer research and medical device safety–and, to what end?”
Government has no business funding research.
To what end ? Avoiding the next research lab created pandemic for one thing.

” Tax breaks for American oligarchs.”
You rant about Trump stopping federal spending but the lions share of that goes to “oligarchs”.
Democrats are the party of payoffs to billionaires, of the self licking ice cream cone.

    1. Reverse Lawfare?

      Some will say.

In fact, it is quite simply law enforcement as required by law, nonetheless.

      Who’da thunk it?!

      Go, Alina!

    2. Plagiarizing Marco Rubio (re: the Pope/Vatican), “I don’t mean to be snarky,” —but isn’t ALina McIver the one in the white shirt/red jacket who was using her belly to move people out of the way at Delaney detention facility? Google her name and the date of the incident, and a video will confirm what I say (photos will not, you need to watch the video)!

      1. Lin, yes except her first name is LaMonica. Alina is the prosecutor’s first name (Alina Habba, USA for District of NJ). See the video linked above.

        1. ooops. sorry. –But then again, if she were Alina McIver, she could commit the act and prosecute herself all in the same action.
          Judicial economy. better than injunctions.

      2. To be fair, the only reason she burst on the scene in the video was because someone mistakenly yelled “Hey Kool Aid!”😂😂

  8. If delusional left wing nuts wish to self deport – let them.

But they are insane. The US does NOT live fully up to the promises of the declaration of independence. While falling short it STILL succeeds far more than any other nation in the world.

We are in the midst of a global conflict with authoritarianism – the authoritarianism of the left.

Canada is far less free than the US, and likely as a consequence not only has a lower standard of living but one that is falling further behind. Further while Trump’s 51st state remarks are likely just trolling, the fact is that Canada today is almost entirely an economic dependency of the US and that is not easily changed anytime soon. I think it is unlikely that western canada is going to secceed, but the threat is real and a message to Ottawa – one from the US 250 years ago “Don’t Tread on Me”

Europe is doing no better. Additionally it is facing a demographic and energy crisis that is resulting in deindustrialization.

Most of the western world has an increasingly authoritarian left that hold power increasingly tenuously. It is near certain that the left will lose power in the next decade throughout all or nearly all the west. But it is NOT certain what will replace it. It is also hard to tell what the growing movements opposing the authoritarian left are actually like – because it is the left wing nut western media that informs us of their nature. Meloni in Italy has not proven to be a fascist. She seems to be a centrist mildly libertarian – which is NOT how she was painted by the MSM.
When conservatives in Canada finally defeat liberals – it is not clear what Pierre Poilievre will be as a leader. Nigel Farage would be the UK’s next Prime Minister if elections were held today and reform would completely dominate parliment with Labor almost anihilated. But there is a long way to UK’s next elections. Farage is likely to be some combination of Thatcher and Trump.
Le Penn is likely to be the next Prime Minister of France – if she thwarts french lawfare.
Regardless National Rally is a Right leaning socialist party and it is not clear how she would govern.
The leader of Afd in Germany is a female lesbian who is panted as Hitler reincarnate, but she claims to be libertarian. We see the same throughot much of the rest of Europe – a rising anti-left that is painted as fascist and authoritarian. But outside the left and the MSM does not seem to be either fascist or authoritarian.

We have real authoritarianism and real fascism in China under Xi right now, But the left ignores that.

The left is very good at ignoring the traits of its allies that are offensive, fascist and authoritarian.

The modern left is a bizarre coalition of purportedly historically opressed groups that often share little in common, frequently were the oppressors, rather than the oppressed frquently loath purportedly core values of the left.

The left loves to rant about colonizers – yet arab muslims colonized much of the world. They also held the largest number of slaves – including more african slaves over a longer period than the entire western hemisphere. Muslim’s are universally anti-gay, anti-trans, with the largest and most violent contingent of violent religious extremists in the world. Yet we are supposed to pretend that they are somehow oppressed rather than opressors ? We are to ignore that fact that a left that fixates on the absolute right to ambiguous sexuality, is vigorously aligned with the most sexually repressive group in the world that routinely throws people who are not absolutely straight off of roofs to their death.

Conversley Trump who is about the most libertarian conservative we have ever seen is somehow an authoritarian fascist.

In left wing parlance, efforts to REDUCE the power of govenrment are authoritarian and fascist,
while efforts to increase the power of govenrment are fascist and authoritarian.

It is 1984 all over again.

  9. Ernest Hemingway once said:
The world is a fine place and worth the fighting for …
    God Bless America 🇺🇸

    1. Oh, thank you, Aninny and Ernest!

What did 36,000 in Korea die for?

What did 58,000 die for after JFK and LBJ sent them, and Gerald Ford turned around and simply ordered them home, unceremoniously, embarrassingly, and shamefully?

What exactly did 7,000 deaths, 20 years, and $7 trillion in Iraq and Afghanistan obtain?

Was that worth fighting (i.w. dying) for?

            1. So 53,000 American military personnel died for South Korea?

That makes perfect sense to me.

Like Lincoln killed one million Americans for Africa?

        1. About 36,000 Americans died in Korea. The original post is correct.

Truman, a Democrat, got us into that war and Eisenhower, a Republican, got us out.

Kennedy and Johnson, Democrats, got us into Vietnam and Nixon, a Republican, got us out.

  10. In the United States the term “conservative” means someone that follows constitutional due process and obeys court orders from the co-equal Judicial Branch and follows laws from the co-equal Legislative Branch.

There are virtual no “conservatives” in Congress.

In Turley’s article simply replace the word conservative for “constitutionally-subversive”. These professors have no problem with real conservatives. They have a problems with “subversives” trying to undo America’s model of government.

    1. Conservative is not an ideology. It is merely the recognition that most change FAILS, and therefore we should be cautious with respect to change – particularly with respect to unproven changes that replace systems that if imperfect work, and especially changes that involve govenment an the use of force.

Failure in free markets is something we can deal with. Free markets fail more than they succeed and STILL the net is significantly positive – because the benefits of the few successes outwieght the harms of the failures.

But govenment is an institution that we can not allow to fail. The consequences are horrible.

The core of conservatism is resistance to untested changes in government.

      NOT any of your claims.

    2. Indeed, executive power is exclusively “vested in a president”; there is absolutely NO co-equal or otherwise branch of government enabled or authorized to exercise executive power.

They may not agree with or support it, but there is nothing they can do about the President’s unilateral and exclusive exercise of executive power.

No legislation or adjudication may regulate or direct the exercise of executive power.

Citizens may not vote him into office, and Congress may impeach and remove the president.

      Read the Constitution.

    3. Due process varies with the significance of the govenrment action.
We assure the highest due process to those who face the possibility of execution.
Slightly less due process is required to imprison someone.
Unfortunatley very little due process is required to take your property.
How much due process do you get before taxes are taken from you ?
Or when you recieve a parking ticket ?

Illegal immigrants face the prospect of being returned to their homes.
There is not a single right that is being violated,
nothing is being taken from them that is theirs.

The due process required to deport an illegal alien is extremely low – read the law.

“Obeying court orders” is nowhere in the constitution.
It is something that we do out of tradition.
We empower the courts to issue orders because the judiciary is the WEAKEST branch of govenment – actually read the federalist papers. The danger of judicial tyranny is extremely low BECAUSE they have no power to enforce their own orders. Judicial orders are obeyed by choice.
The only FORCE capable of enforcing a judicial order rests with the executive.
Eisenhower federalized the national guard and sent them into the south to protect blacks attending white schools because the supreme court ordered that. Eisenhower though the court was moving too fast and that this was a bad idea, but he CHOSE as president to enforce that order. He did so because over the course of 200 years the courts had been the least politicized branch of government and had imperfectly earned a significant degree of deference.

That is NOT at all true today.
Left wing courts ignore the constitution, ignore the law – you rant about “due process” – but theese lawless courts have ignored the judicial rules that constitute due process.
They hear cases that are outside their jurisdiction. They accept cases from plaintiffs that have no standing. They issues TRO’s and preliminary injunctions on cases that the administration is ultimately near certain to win, and were even if that were not the case the only relief that can be granted is equity – money, and TRO’s and preliminary injunctions are not permitted for issues of equity. Harm must be irreparable – financial harm is never irreparable.

Over and over we see left wing nut judges int he US behave exactly like the left wing judicial tyrants in banana republics.

CONTRA your claims – thus far this administration has obeyed the judicial orders issued that were possible to obey when issued – despite the FACT that nearly all these orders are themselves unconstitutional and lawless.

The conduct of the left is perfectly representative of the corrupt and anticonstitutional values of the left.

The complexity of the US constitution, the checks and balances are there to make it very hard for govenrment to use FORCE to infringe on individual liberty.

All Govenrment spending, All govenrment action is an infringement in individual liberty – bar none.

But some – VERY LITTLE govenment actions and spending is necessary
The complexity of the constitution, the checks and balances make it very hard even to do what is necescary so that unjustified infringement is RARE.

But the left constantly violates those checks and balances in order to excerise MORE power and to increase the infringement on individual liberty.

The constitution requires near unanimity for government to do most anything.

But the left has Mangled our government such that if they have control of even PART of one branch of govenrment – they get to infringe on liberty to their hearts content.

Govenrment spending is NOT a right. Government employment is NOT a right.
Reducing both is a clear constitutional unilateral power of the president.
While INCREASING either requires the unanimous support of all branches of government.
yet those of you on the left turn that on its head. Even a handful of left wing nut judges can prevent the reduction of the burdern govenrment imposes on all of us from being reduced even a little.

I would note the MAJORITY of the courts DO NOT support this lawlessness by judges on the left.
Not even the majority of judges on the left support this nonsense. But dozens of judges left and right correctly grasping that what plantifs are demanding of them is unconstitutional gets Trumped by one left wing nut judge that ignores the law and constitution – and the myriads oof other federal judges that found againnst this lawless nonsense and issues a nationwide TRO to thwart something everyone knows will eventually be upheld

So far the handful of lunatic left lawless judges are being obeyed – until their idiotic orders are overturned. But judges on the left are playing with fire.

They have no power to enforce their own orders. The only power that precludes these orders being ignored is the dwindling respect for the judiciary – which they undermine daily with lawless orders.

      1. Oh John Say, get with the transformed world, opposite world changes laws by breaking laws. No legislation needed. Judges will support this and help criminals escape. Get with it.

You’ll be sued for upholding the law as you should be!

  11. Whatever will these milquetoast snowflakes do when Canada is admitted to the Union?

      1. By that time, the strict conservative discipline of the Constitution will have been vigorously reimplemented.

  12. In opposite world, the government of Canada debanking truck drivers and bringing out the mounted police to force people to inject an experimental mix of chemicals into their bodies is freedom, while the US government dismantling the government-censorship complex is fascism. That’s where these idiots live – opposite world . . . where free speech caused the Holocaust.
