Filmmaker Michael Moore has decided that it is time to rewrite the Pledge of Allegiance in the name of tolerance and unity while attacking “MAGA-heads” and President Trump. If that seems confusing, it is a model of clarity when compared to the new pledge. Mary Poppins (who is perfect in everyway) would likely call this “pie-crust patriotism.”
Moore has previously sought to amend the Constitution by repealing the Second Amendment. He also suggested surrounding the Supreme Court to prevent the confirmation of another conservative justice (without explaining how such a blockade would stop a confirmation across the street).
He is now turning his hand to the Pledge of Allegiance.
Many Americans are understandably a tad attached to our pledge, starting with “I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
Rev. Francis Bellamy would not likely be won over by the Moore remake. (The phrase “under God” was incorporated later into the Pledge of Allegiance on June 14, 1954). Here is the new version:
“I pledge allegiance to the people of the United States of America. And to the democracy for which we all stand: One person, one vote, one nation, part of one world, everyone! A seat at the table! Everyone! A slice of the pie! With liberty and justice, equality, and kindness and the pursuit of happiness for all.”
As an initial matter, I fail to see how the nation is embodied by a run-on sentence that has more exclamation marks than a pre-teen’s text to bffs.
The call for unity is particularly curious from a person who has labeled Republicans as racists and consistently engaged in rage rhetoric. Among his prior unifying, “slice of the pie” declarations was that white people “are not good people” and are inherently dangerous.
The Moore pledge has all of the elements that would unify any gathering on Rodeo Drive. It replaces nationalism with globalism and introduces a pastry-based patriotism.
To paraphrase Mary Poppins, “Oh, that’s a piecrust [pledge]! Easily made, easily broken!”
Michael Moore’s “slice of the pie” Pledge of Allegiance declaration, sound more like a campaign slogan for the Presidential Election 2028.
Moore’s “slice of the pie” is the hijacking of [=] The Republican ticket of Harding and Coolidge’s “a chicken in every pot” Advertisement (circa 1928 campaign)
Re:
No, Hoover never promised “a chicken in every pot,” though Hoover did make a variety of optimistic statements during the 1928 campaign, such as, “given a chance to go forward with the policies of the last eight years, and we shall soon with the help of God be in sight of the day when poverty will be banished from this Nation.”
The link between Hoover and the phrase “a chicken in every pot” can be traced to a paid advertisement which was run by a number of local Republican groups during the 1928 campaign. The ad described in detail how the Republican administrations of Harding and Coolidge had “reduced hours and increased earning capacity, silenced discontent, put the proverbial ‘chicken in every pot.’ And a car in every backyard, to boot.” The ad concluded that a vote for Hoover and other Republican candidates would be a vote for continued prosperity.

OT,
Former Biden White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday revealed she was registering as an independent and announced a forthcoming book about her time in the tumultuous administration.
Jean-Pierre, a longtime Democratic Party operative, is urging Americans to step outside harsh party lines in her new book, “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,” according to the book’s description. The description also says the former Biden press secretary didn’t come to the decision about leaving the party lightly.
I’m glad she clarified that, because when I heard she was quitting the Dem party, the first and only question that popped into my mind – really, the only question that matters – was: Did you come to the decision lightly?

This discussion shows the ignorance we have in the United States today! Both the original pledge and this total nonsense of Moore are total fallacies! And I’m sorry, but “you” are no more than the proverbial “pot” calling the “kettle” black, as you all are existing in a fantasyland that has absolutely no relationship with “patriotism” in the United States, or what the Flag Stands For!
I’ll start with the original pledge, as Moore’s new pledge and your analysis of both, do not merit any response!
[“I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”]
[“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”]
[“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”]
This already is flawed with fallacy, the flag does not stand for “one nation”, and it does not have anything to do with “liberty or justice for all”, the “Flag” represents the “Union of the States” which is assembled in a congress, a confederacy, which is a “democracy” of the States, which was named “The United States of America by Article 1 of the Articles of Confederation:
[Article I. The Stile of this confederacy shall be, “The United States of America.”]
This Union of the States as a democracy assembled in a congress predates the Constitution of the United States by more than a decade, and our “Flag” predates the Constitution of the United States by more than a decade. Furthermore, the Constitution of the United States does not form a “Republic”, and it definitely did not establish nationalism, or even one nation, which is a consolidation of the States, and a Confederation is an aggregate assembly of the States.
But let’s get to the nitty gritty of “patriotism”, both the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution of the United States are participation versus compliance agreements between the States to establish the States Rights as members of the Union, establishing the benefits, privileges, rights of participation in decision making and cost of membership in the Union, which is a pledge between the States to join and act together as a “Union”, all All persons who serve “under” the Union, the united States, in congress assembled, to operate our Union, take an oath to support, “this constitution”, the assembly of the States in a Congress as Union!
The Flag has absolutely nothing to do with “democracy”, “a republic”, “voting”, “religious doctrine”, “freedom”, “equality”, “justice”, “liberty”, “the people”, “the world”, or anything else in either pledge. The “Flag” is only a Representation of the Union of the States, which is assembled in a congress, and yes, it is a “Democracy” of the States as equals with equal suffrage, as it has been since the States original agreement, 1778 with the adoption of the Articles of Confederation, to this day, which is what “perpetual union” means, as the Constitution only assembled the Democracy of the States as a Republican Form of Government, where even the unicameral Senate is in fact a Democracy assembled as a Republican Form of Government because it is a Confederation of Republics, as every State in the Union must be constituted as either a simple or compound republic themselves as a condition as a member of the Union!
All of you need to put down your megaphones and pick up our founding documents to learn instead of interpreting!
Wait. Let’s be clear.
The American Founders established a restricted-vote republic.
Turnout was 11.6% by design in 1789.
Voter qualifications were Male, European, 21, 50 lbs. Sterling, or 50 acres generally by state.
Never was America intended to be a one-man, one-vote “democrazy.”
One man, one vote “democracy” IS the very “dictatorship of the proletariat (hired help)” of Karl Marx, who himself was a sickly and pathological drunk consumed, not with ambition and achievement but with confiscation and redistribution, or parasitism.
Karl Marx wrote the Communist Manifesto 59 years after the adoption of the Constitution because none of the principles of the Communist Manifesto were in the Constitution. Had the principles of the Communist Manifesto been in the Constitution, Karl Marx would have had no reason to write the Communist Manifesto. The principles of the Communist Manifesto were not in the Constitution then, and the principles of the Communist Manifesto are not in the Constitution now.

You didn’t.
I can agree with keeping an eye on Mr. Moore as he is highly regarded by the folks on the Left. My point is that he is always degrading the USA and conservative people. It is very tiring to read and/or listen to his commentary.
When these two things are true, you have a strong economy, and the rest will take care of itself if governement stays out of the way.
Strong growth and low inflation
April inflation 2.1%
Updated 2Q GDP growth prediction 4.6%
Maybe the resident economic experts like George and Gigi would like to explain how this is possible. I thought we were supposed to be in a recession by now…
Predictions are often wrong. GDP contracted .3% the first contraction in years. Lets see how things turn out before hanging your hat on that prediction.

Who is Michael Moore kidding… As if he could stop at just one slice of pie…
Is Michael Moore still a thing? Any analysis of his comments should begin with a review of his balance sheet which he should make public. “Let’s all share…except for MY financial assets. aka slice of the pie”
Dear Mr. Turley, Michael Moore is not worth wasting time and space on. He made his communist feelings known many years ago, so please stop giving him oxygen.
Anonymous, it’s not a matter of giving Michael Moore oxygen. Though Moore is not on your radar screen he is still highly regarded on the left. Countering his arguments is therefore a worthwhile pursuit. The recent election is proof that minds can be changed through continued arguments against the positions of the left. To many Moore is still relevant and so is Marx.
We all know the content of Michael Moore’s brain and we don’t care how revolting it is this time – it’s always revolting and not worth mentioning. I’m certain the very well indoctrinated will find it perfect but the majority won’t and therein lies the legacy of Moore.
OT; Trump already cooking the farm report? It seems the Trump administration wants to hide massive trade imbalances in agriculture that show how bad his tariffs are harming the agriculture sector. If you have to cook the books to make it look better you are already losing. Trump’s economy is only going to get worse. That’s on top of his “big beautiful bill” adding billions to the deficit and debt. Musk is already threatening to help primary republicans over it. He thinks it’s a really bad and disgusting bill. Oops.
Oh, George, ye olde whingebag, are you ever going to provide a source of any of the tripe you trot? Or are you content with just riling people up so that they will respond, and fill your gaping hole of need for validation?
-Rabble
You’re smart enough to find out for yourself. Are you?
so in other words. You have NONE. As we all figured
Dustoff, George utilizes the rags and the hags who report what they hope to hear, not what occurs.
George never provides a source for his material because he’s afraid that he might prove himself wrong.
I find this a continuing confirmation of my labeling George Mr. know it all. Let us not forget that George just recently declared himself to be a know it all expert on MS-13 tattoos. Illusions are persistent things.
Ss so often happens Mr. know it all George is also a habitual liar. Virtually everything out of his mouth is a lie. Why? He is paid to parrot the lies of his Communist overlords in the CCP.
Remember when george claimed the new 747 would go to Prez Trunp and not DOD
Been real quiet about that.
It’s a principle of George’s religion. Do some harm each day –> atheism.
Hey George you peaked my curiosity with your statement about the farm report so I did some research. I found an article from a prominent farm publication declaring that the tariffs on steel were a bad idea. However, missing from the article was the fact that China sells its steel below cost in order to drive the worldwide competition out of business. Unlike you I provide a source. https://agmetalminer.com/2025/05/28/chinas-steel-industry-dumping-recedes/.
The desire for cheap steel to build farm equipment is driving manufacturing of farm equipment out of the U.S. I am providing this post so that others might asses that know it all George who never backs up his statements with a source really doesn’t know much after all.
TiT,
Thank you for posting that. I found this paragraph very interesting,
“This ties in directly with what is happening in the export-focused steel industry. A report published in Business Standard echoes those of Reuters and Goldman Sachs, stating that unless China throws away its current steel plan and goes back to re-inflating the housing and infrastructure sectors, steel consumption in that country will continue to wind down.”
Hey george… CBO says hello
President Donald Trump’s tariff policies in effect as of mid-May would help to shrink US fiscal deficits by an estimated $2.8 trillion, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office
“. . . an estimated $2.8 trillion . . .”
Who pays that $2.8 trillion?
Not us.
Check our history of using tariffs Sam.
“Not us.”
Seriously? You are ignorant about how tariffs work.
It is *American* companies (small, medium, and large) and *American* consumers who pay that $2.8 trillion tariff money. That’s tariffs 101. And that’s why Trump issued his infamous threat to Walmart: “Eat the tariffs.”
That $2.8 trillion is a huge *tax* on *American* corporations and consumers.
Sam, we’ve gone over this time and again, but it’s always one-way. You repeat the same talking points, and I respond by laying out our history: how America rose to become the strongest power in the world. Do you ever argue that it’s untrue or explain how tariffs held us back? No! You circle back and repeat yourself.
So here we go again. Back in George Washington’s time, the federal government needed a source of revenue. That source was tariffs. It was the retailers, producers, and, yes, the people who paid them. Tariffs have been a part of our system from the start, and the US experienced its most significant economic growth during periods of higher tariffs.
To fund the Civil War, citizens were taxed, a temporary move. When the War ended, so did the taxes. We reverted to relying on tariffs and other revenue sources to fund the government. Then, in 1913, the 16th Amendment changed everything. Taxes on citizens grew, and for the first time, the burden fell solely and directly on the people.
In every case above, the public funded the government. The difference? With tariffs, the load was shared across the economy. With taxes it lands squarely on the citizen.
Now it’s up to you, Sam. You can either engage in a real conversation or keep recycling the same empty lines.
Note that I am not in love with tariffs or taxes, but when used correctly, both can be effective sources of funding for the government. Tariffs have a further effect in helping to effectuate our foreign policy.
I guess Trump cooked the other news you missed, slow and dumb one.
April inflation down to 2.1%
Job openings up to 7.4 million
Atlanta Fed predicts 2Q GDP growth of 4.6%
Keep whining, George. It looks good on you.
It was the Atlanta Fed that projected the 4.6% GDP for the 2nd quarter, not the Trump administration.
BILLIONS to the debt GEORGE?? BIDEN added 8.4 TRILLION!! Billions seem great compared to BIDEN!!
It is tedious to continue to use the work “hypocrisy” in reference to American “liberals,” but just one more time perhaps. For many years, Michael Moore, the avowed enemy of White Racism, and friend of The Poor, owned a million dollar home in Acme, Michigan. https://wcrz.com/inside-michael-moores-home-traverse-city-michigan/ This small city in NW Michigan has virtually no blacks living there. (.25%, which might work out to two people) https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-cities/michigan/acme-township Somehow, the eagle-eyed Moore failed to notice.
re: edwarsmahl
“Labels” are a bad idea, they are never totally accurate.
For example: just learned yesterday that since the 1980’s, each and every Republican president has increased the national debt and deficit. Every Democratic administration has reduced the national deficit since the 1980’s.
Using accurate labels: Democrats are more fiscally-conservative, more constitutionally-conservative and more socially-liberal than most Republicans.
When I was growing up in the 1970’s and 1980’s, Republicans were considered the “grownups” in regards to managing money and living within their means. Today Republicans are fiscally-liberal. Democrats manage money better today!
Anonymous – off point comment. Also, misguided. It is the debt that is ruining us, not the deficit. The former continues to climb and the latter fluctuates.
“Every Democratic administration has reduced the national deficit since the 1980’s.”
Nice deception. You dropped the word “debt.”
For those who revere honesty: Biden increased government *debt* $8.4 trillion.
Maybe you never learned that CONGRESS is responsible for TAXING and SPENDING.
Clinton didn’t balance the budget, you fvcking imbecile. The Contract With America was between the REPUBLICAN Congress and the people. The Democrats kicked and screamed.
#9. That’s one conclusion, the other one is that the Republican Presidents, came into office having to clean up the maleficence mess of their predecessor Democrat Socialists and therefore temporarily had to expend more than they themselves desired just to put the country back into a stable and prosperous position.
Hey Georgie!
Did you enjoy your vacation away from your Turley and Trump mocking?
Or were you suspended from this site for a week?
Yesterday you came back swinging, first thing in the morning:
here’s your opening sentence,
“George says:
June 2, 2025 at 7:56 AM
“Is Turley stupid or is he being deliberately naive again…. ”
Today, more of the same.
We are amazed, georgie, that you believe your condescension and disrespect for your host indicates anything other than limited intellectual acuity, with an emphasis on juvenile jabs and self-validation.
Aww, you missed me. I’m amazed you still can’t grasp the concept of criticism being fair game. Turley posts his opinions and having a comment section makes anything he says fair game for criticism, mockery, or ridicule.
Glad you look forward to my posts Anonymous.
Yep, Georgie was given a timeout, along with Gigi, who showed back up as Jane or Mary Something or other.
She may have been permanently booted for her nastiness. George is next.
Ah yes, mockery and ridicule are 2 virtues in atheism.
HaHA! George’s ego believes that, as we scroll past his obnoxious posts, we are unable to see his opening sentence, “Is Turley stupid or is he being deliberately naive” He believes that means we read his comment and “look forward” to more! HAHAHAHA what a desperado!
grorge is fair game for criticism, mockery, or ridicule
The irony of the liberal 1954 changing of the Pledge of Allegiance, is that the same people supporting “One Nation Under God” in 1954 were largely anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic.
When the first Catholic president was elected in the 1960’s, those same people feared “One Nation Under God” since then the Vatican would have undue influence over American policies.
Get back to the original Pledge of Allegiance or scrap the entire thing!
Wasn’t Jesus a Jewish carpenter?
Just no.
Much ado about nothing.
Both Moore and Bellamy got it wrong. Get back to the original Pledge of Allegiance or better yet use “E Pluribus Unum”.
The Pledge of Allegiance which was changed in 1954 was a clear violation of the First Amendment. The 1954 change required a constitutional amendment since it violated the Establishment Clause.
Even though the 1954 change to the Pledge of Allegiance was illegal under the First Amendment, the intention was to invent an illegal loyalty contrary to the American Oath of Office. Illegal under the American system.
The intention was so that Americans wouldn’t fall for godless communists in the former Soviet Union – intended directly to counter Putin and communist block nations. Putin back then was part of Germany’s secret police that Ronald Reagan strongly denounced.
Public schools (government entities) forced children to recite (a 1954 updated version) of the Pledge of Allegiance that violated the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause.
America’s security/intelligence agencies, DOJ and FBI followed this false-loyalty oath that violated the U.S. Constitution destroying (even killing) thousands of innocent Americans simply from a false loyalty culture.
The real American loyalty oath was most accurately explained by General Mark Milley in his retirement speech. This is the loyalty oath the CIA, DoD and DOJ are legally required to follow.
#9. Always better to rely upon documented authority than to theorize what took place historically.
“Later in the decade, some people added the words “under God” to the Pledge and in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower signed a bill passed by Congress that put the words “under God” within the phrase “one nation indivisible.”
“Over the following decades, there have been legal challenges concerning the use of those two words in the Pledge.”
“Most notably, in 2004 the Supreme Court ruled in a case brought by an atheist who said a California school’s pledge requirement violated his daughter’s rights under the First Amendment’s Establishment and Free Exercise Clauses. In Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow , the Supreme Court did not end up ruling on the legality of the words “under God” in relation to the First Amendment. Instead, Justice John Paul Stevens said Newdow didn’t have standing to bring suit because he lacked sufficient custody over his daughter.”
“But Chief Justice William Rehnquist and Justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Clarence Thomas wrote separate concurrences, stating that requiring teachers to lead the Pledge, despite the inclusion of the phrase, “under God,” was constitutional.”
“A similar challenge to the Pledge was denied by two federal appeals courts in 2010, which ruled “that the Pledge of Allegiance does not violate the Establishment Clause because Congress’ ostensible and predominant purpose was to inspire patriotism” and “both the choice to engage in the recitation of the Pledge and the choice not to do so are entirely voluntary.”
“Two recent legal challenges also targeted state constitutions, and not the U.S. Constitution, for guidance about using the words “under God.”
“In 2014, the Massachusetts case Jane Doe v. Acton-Boxborough Regional School District involved a group of parents, teachers and the American Humanist Association in an action against a school district. The group claimed the Pledge requirement, including the use of the words “under God,” violated the equal protection clause of the state’s constitution. The state Supreme Court didn’t agree.”
“Also in 2014, a New Jersey family and the American Humanist Association filed a similar lawsuit against the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District, seeking to eliminate the use of the words “under God” from Pledges taken at public schools. The school district said that it was just following a New Jersey state law that requires schools to have a daily recitation of the Pledge, and that individual students weren’t forced to take part. In February 2015, a judge ruled in favor of the school district.”
“An event in 2019 drew attention to the ability of states to require students at public schools to get parental permission before opting out of the pledge, when a sixth-grade student was arrested in a pledge dispute. That case was dropped in March 2019, but the incident harkened back to Frazier v. Winn, a 2008 lower court decision that the U.S. Supreme Court did not take on appeal.”
“In that case, the 11th Circuit Appeals Court upheld Florida’s statute requiring parental permission as constitutional. “Although we accept that the government ordinarily may not compel students to participate in the Pledge, e.g., Barnette, we also recognize that a parent’s right to interfere with the wishes of his child is stronger than a public school official’s right to interfere on behalf of the school’s own interest,” the federal court said. “Most important, the statute ultimately leaves it to the parent whether a schoolchild will pledge or not.”
Which I would point out, confirms parental rights with regards to “opting out”, of forced gendermandering, and other parental rights infringements that the Teachers Union and leftists in general want to force upon innocent children in the governmental school systems.
#9. Copied most of this above, but citation was lacking:

Many when saying the pledge slot in what they want or stay silent. Watch kamala during pledge… insert the word no.
Oh, the same Mark Milley who VIOLATED HIS OATH, by publicly criticising his superior officer? That POS?
What is Article 88 Of The UCMJ? Contempt toward officials under Article 88 of the UCMJ takes place when a commissioned officer of the United States Armed Forces uses contemptuous words against officials of any branch of the U.S. government or any state government.
Pete Hegseth should strip Milley of his retirement and benefits and put him in a military prison.
The latest chapter in the Michael Moore struggle to stay relevant in a world that thought he was dead.
Mr. Moore has made his anti-Christian values clear over the years. His bloviating is as relevant as the Squad in Congress…….At this point his attempt is merely to incite. He thinks this proposal is popular with the Democratic National Communist (DNC) party, it maybe, however the Media that peddles in incitement and the Communists that listen have become marginalized by American Patriots.
There’s the rub bcdof13 essentially states people who don’t believe in God are communists which is only slightly better than being an atheist and cannot be Patriots. As a proud atheist and patriot you can all go shove it. Funny that the godless communists get so much aid and comfort in their efforts in Ukraine in this venue and in MAGA circles in general.
Sure, the bolsheviks were patriots. Moron.
Hey pullyours,
There are over 21,000 places of worship in Russia. Only 21% of the Russian people identify as non-religious.
Over 8000 churches in Ukraine still have ties to Moscow.
Seriously, do you EVER have a clue before you run your fat yap?
To put that in perspective for you, nincompoop, 28% of Americans identify as not religious.
so??????????????
